Reports are coming out that Harris is leading in Iowa.

So what does this mean for Iowa voters?

Iowa was red in 2020 and has historically been red. As someone who lives in AZ, a red state that is now a swing state, it is entirely possible to flip a state or at least make the Republican Party sweat. So if you are in Iowa and were considering not voting because “your vote won’t count in a red state anyways”, please get out and vote.

Obviously polls can be inaccurate, but how great would it be if we could flip a state that republicans considered an easy victory?

Things the Biden-Harris Administration Did This Week #37

President Biden announced a new EPA rule that will require all lead pipes in America's drinking water systems to be replace with-in 10 years. This builds on the $15 billion the Biden-Harris Administration has already invested in replacing lead pipes nation wide. The administration's focus on this issue has allowed local governments to greatly execrate their lead pipe replacement plans, before Biden took office the city of Milwaukee's timeline for replacing its lead pipes was 60 years, they're now on track to do it in 10. The EPA says there's no safe level of lead in the human body.

Vice President Harris announced she plans to expand Medicare to cover home health care. Currently those who need long term care, are covered by Medicaid, the health program for the poor so have to spend all their savings before they can qualify. This change would allow more seniors to stay in their homes and offer support to caregiving family members. Medicare also covers the disabled thus proving a game changer for the disabled Americans and their families. The Vice President also endorsed expanding Medicare to cover the costs of hearing and vision care.

Medicare released a preliminary list of 101 generic drugs which it would cover that would cost no more than $2 for a month for enrollees. People have long lobbied to allow Medicare to pay for generic drugs which has been resisted by drug companies. Thanks to President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, and in line with a Biden Executive Order Medicare is now working on bring low cost generic drugs to seniors. The list targets some of the most common prescriptions thus will bring savings to the most people.

Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden announced that the Biden-Harris Administration had blown past its goal of hiring 250,000 student support staff for 2024. The joint effort by the Department of Education, AmeriCorps and Everyone Graduates Center managed to hire 320,000 tutors, mentors, student success coaches, postsecondary transition coaches, and student support coordinators nationwide, its goal for the end of 2025.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced $420 million to help get rid of lead paint and other lead hazards from homes. HUD estimates that over 3 million households that have children under the age of 6 live with lead hazards. HUDs grants will go to all 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico with particular focus on low income housing.

I have this scene written where Abby sends all of the packs pups and a bunch of omegas to hide in the forest for reasons. And Clarke and Lexa meet them because Lex is going to have a team of vampires protecting them too. And none of them know that Clarke's an absolutely shredded BAMF werewolf now.

So Niylah sees Clarke and she's all drooling and like "hey sexy". And Lexa is so not having it. Raven and Octavia (who have figured out she and Clarke are together) are not so quietly trying to tell Niylah she needs to back the fuck off. Otherwise she's going to be Lexa's Happy meal! 🤣

And we know how Lexa gets when she's jealous. So of course she's going to drag Clarke off and make sure she knows who she belongs to.

It’s post mountain, Clarke and the 100 have unofficially joined the grounder camp and Clarke and Lexa flirt a lot and eventually they go on a hunt (Clarke Bellamy and Murphy?) to hunt the river monster to present to Lexa as a courting ritual? It was super funny/cracky.

so like, I found out I was gay pretty early into high school, right. and so you would think that a lot of my conscious decisions and thoughts about dating would take that into account.

But it took me a term away from school, multiple conversations with different friends and an amount of spontaneity to realize that I wasn’t interested in dating because I was thinking about dating guys.

Like yeah, I do want to focus on myself and my career. And yeah I want to be emotionally self reliant and a whole happy person before I get into a relationship.

Turns out, when I finally thought about dating, as in dating a GIRL, that outweighed everything. Like it’s all definitely still valid. Or even more than. But I’m seeing that this is how straight people live! Like hell yeah, dating and meeting people is fun. Ofc I would’ve considered it earlier if I knew it meant I would get to talk to pretty girls.

Reminder that you don't need to get people's approval to go for something. All you need is ownership over your choices.

Want to go on a weekend spa solo and you have the finances for it? Go for it, you don't need your friends' approval to validate your decisions. Want to get a dog because you've always wanted one? Just do it, you don't need your family's approval to make a decision as an adult. Want to reconnect with an old friend or travel to another country? Just do it. Always had dreams of becoming an influencer? Just start posting fancy stories on social media.

Understand that this is your life, and you can do as you please without someone confirming you're allowed to do it. The only person who needs to agree is you.

it’s a canon divergent fic with Azgeda!Clarke. She comes back as queen, but she has an (adopted?) kid and was forced to fight in the pits at some point. She’s still mad at Lexa because of the Mountain, but I think they’re warming up…

Finding Deleted Fics: A Multi-Method Guide

i feel like we are the fandom who needs this post the most any fandom has needed it ever.

all of these methods require you to know the title, author and/or link of the fic.

[disclaimer: the fic i am using as an example is not deleted, i just can't think of any other fics to use as an example right now.]

Method #1: Wayback Machine

this is my go to method that i always try first.

steps:

every fic on ao3 has a url of archiveofourown.org/[specific-numbers]. you're gonna need that url, doesn't matter if it doesn't work anymore.

eg.

2. now you're gonna go to archive.org and enter your url in the search bar.

3. something like this will come up. it probably won't be saved as many times though, just once or twice.

just click any of the links now, either the dates marked blue on the calendar or the earliest/latest date. that's it.

drawbacks:

often, a problem arises when searching for fics rated mature or explicit.

the site will have archived this page but not the actual fic. though, maybe lady luck is on your side and clicking proceed will lead you to a saved version of the actual fic. but usually not. and not all fics are saved here. in those cases, i have some more methods.

Method #2: Search Engine Cache

search engines like google and yandex often save a cached version of sites, though yandex is much more reliable than google. i'll give you a tutorial for both.

steps (yandex):

the link isn't completely necessary, just the title and author of the fic will suffice.

go to yandex.com and search for your fic by either entering the url or entering the title and author as such.

3. this will probably immediately come up.

just enter the captcha and it should let you in on the first go but there's a glitch i've encountered where you could be entering the captcha completely correct but for some reason the site still won't let you in. for that, you just have to keep trying again and again until eventually the site lets you in. might take more than 10 tries.

4. once you're in, search results will pop up. directly clicking them will only lead you to the not found page. what you're gonna do is hover over the box of the search result and you'll see 3 dots pop up on the right.

click those and a dropdown menu will appear. click the first option 'saved copy'.

and thats it! this is a much more efficient method especially for explicit or mature fics.

drawbacks:

for some reason, when i open yandex in google chrome, i can't see the 3 dots. i can in firefox though. don't really know what thats all about.

i'll show you how to do it with google too just in case yandex doesn't work.

steps (google):

in the url bar, type cache:[link of fic]. that's pretty much it. google doesn't have a lot of fics saved though so you'll probably get a 404 page.

Method #3: Reddit

there's a subreddit called r/DeletedFanfiction that can probably help you out. either search for the fic as it may have already been posted or req it and someone will probably get you a google drive link soon enough. u/throwthisaway11112 is my lord and savior.

afaik it's still up and running fine despite the reddit protest thing (which i recommend taking a minute to look into).

Method #4: Archive.org Database

okay, now you're gonna need a lot of memory on computer for this one. i'm not gonna even bother and try to explain it, i'll just link you to the original post. thank you once again to the anon who sent me this method!

Method #5: Fandom

if absolutely none of those methods work, you can still just send me an ask and maybe my followers or i will have a saved copy. same for any other fandom, i recommend asking around in popular fandom spaces, someone is bound to have it.

I, irritatingly enough, have an idea for a new fanfic (Clexa, obviously). I know, I know, I have so many on-going fics that need to be finished, but this one just won't leave me alone. It's something that has been bouncing in and out of my mind for almost two years in one form or another. It's something that I'm pretty sure could actually be a stand alone novel which is crazy, though I'm not sure I could ever get a novel published... Now I don't know what to do, should I write it or just forget it. Someone please tell me what I should do lmao.

omg can you believe it i’m once again here to try and find a clexa fic i read forever ago

once again i don’t remember too much but i’ll give ya what i know.

okay so basically they can turn into wolves lol. i don’t recall whether it was an A/B/O fic or not. i think it starts off with clarke in the woods just drawing the scenery or some shit and she helps rescue a wolf? person? who was caught in i think a bear trap.

clarke, raven, octavia and all the other arkadians live in this big enclosed city. it’s very strict there and they all wear collars that are like stabbing into their necks (i remember that being a big no no with lexa) and if the disobeyed in any way they would be shocked. because of those collars (i’m like 99% sure on this) they can’t shift into their wolves. basically all the authority figures there are straight assholes.

i know that it was mentioned in the story with lexa and anya joking with each other that they’re older than clarke and raven by several years. obvi octavia and lincoln get together. i also remember that when all things turn out good and well lincoln and octavia have two or three cubs. maybbbbe raven and anya, i can’t entirely remember. and clarke and lexa have two named aden and madi.

i also remember this big scene where clarke and some others are trapped in cages (just like in the mount weather season of the show) and they’re being experimented on to i thinnnnnk find a way to full on get rid of the wolf gene and clarke full on LOSES her shit and shifts for the first time even with her collar on and i remember when they were running away from the city she had this whole jump scene over the main gates that was totally epic. clarke ends up staying in her wolf form for a while longer, i remember that being mentioned “because her wolf doesn’t know if she’s completely safe yet”.

there was also a lake/pond scene with i think a waterfall and it’s just the main guys just hanging out and splashing around. there was also like only one maybbbe two sex scenes in this story.

basically the city living people didn’t want to be wolves anymore because “it’s unnatural” and “below them” and they thought they could get rid of it but clarke and everyone on the outside beat some ass. dead people everywhere.

if there’s anything that could relate to this story please please pleaseeee let me know. it’s been eating me alive to find it. it was one of the first clexa fics i read and i want to relive it. thank you!!
