The greatest thing about the modular park concept is the fact that the green vehicles can move around the city alone and transform spaces such as parking spots into small urban gardens

Living As Form: Socially Engaged Art from 1991-2011 edited by Nato Thomson Creative Time Books / MIT Press - 2012 Reviewed by Mark Gardner
"Everyone is an Artist."  —Joseph Beuys
The social practice of art is moving from the gallery to the street. Nato Thompson, Chief Curator of Creative Time, has edited Living as Form: Socially Engaged Art from 1991-2011to address this shift. The book surveys a large and diverse cross-section of Artists, Art Groups, Community Groups, and Social Generators, each and every one an Activist. The works in Living As Form are varied in their different approaches to public interaction and are, more importantly, very timely.

Clever Urban Interventions Transform City Structures | Junkculture
Johannesburg-based street artist R1 creates clever urban interventions using every day found materials, transforming them and placing them back where they came from, to become a part of the city’s journey. The resulting artwork is tactile, moving within the motion of the cityscape. R1 says of his work, “My installations subtly changes the city streets to create a dialogue and interactions between the environment and our experience of it. The artworks take ownership and manipulate city spaces, opening new relationships with daily familiarity. The end result carries conversations, becoming a fragment of the ever changing city’s history.” - See more at: http://www.junk-culture.com/2013/06/clever-urban-interventions-transform.html#sthash.Hu5Ui8w5.dpuf

Simple and effective, much like the urban knitting trend, except, this requires much less skill!

Art is the only serious thing in the world. And the artist is the only person who is never serious.

a catalyst for interaction. very effective, maybe the ball pit harks back to their childhood? invites a playfulness that adult life lacks?

JAILmake and PAN Studio were asked to design pop-up exhibition stalls for the Be Open Space, an instant flash market for emerging designers at Tom Dixon Studios, part of London Design Festival.
In keeping with the notion of immediacy presented by Be Open Space, the entire installation was conceived, designed, and built within 7 days.
The Exhibition space was open during London Design Festival 2012.

What can you do to make your neighborhood bus stop—and consequently your neighborhood itself—a better place? Offer seating and shelter, for starters? Could a simple picnic table foster informal conversation by day and host the occasional neighborhood potluck by night? Maybe a mini-library or community bulletin or barter board to keep neighbors informed? How about croquet, checkers, or corn hole to invite interaction? A covered bike rack would be a great amenity and help extend transit access. What about providing simple ways for young and old to be more physically active while waiting for the bus with swings, tether ball, a climbing wall or tire drill? Better yet—why not collaborate with other neighbors to install these exercises as a fitness trail at several consecutive bus stops?
Mini interventions transforming dull spaces maybe something to do with architecture?

A bit of a weird one, but hear me out! This idea is brilliant in terms of getting people interested in finding something they could unlock, we could make some sort of treasure hunt that unlocks an information box, or get people to unlock small gifts like paper cranes? simply making something tactile that people want to touch and basically destroy. people love that.

What a lovely idea!
One day every month, design firm Studio Shelf sets up its office in public spaces across Cape Town in order to connect and interact with curious people on the street.

An idea;
how can we encourage human interaction with our architecture in a way that is friendly to the public? ... invite them to take a seat and read? the end of year show can be made into a fun experience which exposes "muggles" to the world of architecture.
