Scooby-Dooby Doo
It’s true! The name that we all know and love is actually a nickname; his given name is Scoobert Scooby-Doo!
The titular character wasn’t originally the mystery-solving Great Dane that we have now. Initially, he was a sidekick, a bongo-playing sheepdog/Great Dane whom creators from Hanna-Barbera named “Too Much.”
Doo was re-named by Fred Silverman who worked for CBS. According to what I could find he came up with the name from the Frank Sinatra song “Strangers In the Night”. There is a section at the end of the song where Sinatra says “doo-be-doo-be-doo” repeatedly while the music fades.
Another interesting tidbit, the original show “Scooby-Doo, Where are You!” was originally titled “Mysteries Five”.

Eat The Cookies
It’s true, Cookie Monster’s real name is Sid!
When the now iconic fuzzy blue monster first appeared, he was an undefined character.
After viewers responded positively, the character became the Cookie Monster. It wasn’t until a skit until 2004, nearly forty years after the first episode of Sesame Street premiered, that Cookie Monster told his fans through song that he wasn’t born with the name “Cookie Monster” and that he may have been called “Sid”
In 2010, the Cookie Monster Tweeted the following:
“Me wasn’t born with name ‘Cookie Monster’. It just nickname dat stuck. Me don’t remember me real name… maybe it was Sidney?”
https://muppet.fandom.com/wiki/Cookie_Monster
He confirmed this fact in 2017 in response to a Fan question through Google!
What do you think, is Sidney a good name for the cookie fiend we know and love?

An Interesting Combination
What do you buy before a storm?
Strange, but true! Pop Tart sales at Wal-Mart increased by as much as seven times before major storms according to a New York Times interview in 2004.
According to the company’s corporate website, more than 350,000 boxes were sent to the Carolinas before and after Hurricane Florence struck in 2018.

With the panic currently surrounding the Coronavirus, COVID-19, people are buying all of the toilet paper that the world has to supply, I wonder if they are also buying the Pop-Tarts and Beer that we have to offer!
What do you think YOU will stock up on before a disaster?

Grrrrrreat!
His name is Thurl Ravenscroft, and he was the voice actor who portrayed Tony the Tiger for more than fifty years.
He spent five decades as the voice behind one of the most popular cereal mascots of all time, however, for most of that time, no-one knew who he was!
His work was often uncredited, including his stellar performance on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”
He passed away in 2005, but if you are visiting Disneyland or Disney World you can still hear his voice! He did voice-over work for many rides and attractions, including the Haunted Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride!

Now That's A Helmet!
This helmet most likely costs twice what your house is worth.
At a hefty price of $400,000 apiece, this helmet costs more than the average house in the United States; but it might be magic!
The F-35 Lightning II pilot’s helmet is made of carbon fiber and Kevlar; the lens on the visor is made of a strong polycarbonate for impact protection.
https://www.stripes.com/news/us/400k-helmet-helps-f-35-lightning-ii-pilot-see-through-the-plane-1.337891
The most interesting thing about this helmet isn’t what it’s made of, it’s what it can do. We all know what helmets are meant for, protecting your head from trauma. Many athletes wear them, as do soldiers, but this helmet isn’t just for protection, as I said, it’s almost magic.
The outside of the F-35 Lightning II features multiple cameras, and when the pilot is wearing the helmet, he or she can see through the plane, so to speak.
What does that mean? When the pilot moves their head, the cameras project an image from the associated outer camera onto the inside of the visor! The pilot no longer only sees through their own eyes, the plane allows them to see everything!

Emma What-son!
Emma Watson’s Harry Potter audition obviously went well, however she auditioned eight times!
Harry Potter Audition
According to what I read Emma Watson and the two main boys went through eight auditions to get their parts. However, apparently from her first screen test JK Rowling loved Emma and wanted her for the part. Emma did so well in the film that she received five nominations for awards for her performance!

Drinking Death?
I know, it sounds like it can hardly be true, but it can happen! The condition is known as “Water Intoxication”.
Basically, if you drink too much water it can cause serious issues in your brain, due to an imbalance of electrolytes and sodium in your body.
This definitely doesn’t mean that if you do the “Gallon Challenge” (Drinking a gallon of water every day.) you will die, everything that I read mentioned consuming more water than your body can… flush in a certain amount of time. (Pun… Necessary?)
Healthy kidneys have the ability to process roughly 1 quart of water an hour (that would be 4 Cups or 32 OZ). So as long as you aren’t drinking more than that on a daily basis you will be fine!
Water intoxication, also known as water poisoning, hyperhydration, overhydration, or water toxemia is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside safe limits by excessive water intake.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication
I will say that death from Water Intoxication seems to be quite rare, and there aren’t enough cases for there to be any statistics in regard to this phenomenon, but in 2007 a woman named Jennifer Strange died after a RADIO CONTEST.
The contest was called “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” and it is estimated that she drank roughly TWO GALLONS of water in a three hour period.
… she came in second place.
So, be careful y’all! If you’re thirsty, drink some water and stop when you aren’t thirsty anymore!

Karma Chamel-e-on-man!
Move over Godzilla! Who needs terrifying razor sharp teeth when you’re as fast as this guy?
To put this in a little perspective for you, a 2018 Honda Accord Sport hits 0-60 MPH in 7.2 seconds.
“That’s extremely high. It’s the highest acceleration and power output of all the amniotes, which includes reptiles, birds, and mammals,” Anderson says.
National Geographic
So, if it comes down to it, these Chameleons would be absolutely terrifying, if they weren’t the size of my thumb!
This is “Rhampholeon spinosus“, an endangered species of chameleon found in Tanzania.
The study that documented the speed of this little guy’s tongue was conducted by Christopher Anderson, a postdoctoral student in vertebrate morphology at Brown University.
The “Rhampholeon spinosus” can shoot its tongue out 2.5 times the length of its body at about 8,500 feet per second.
The Smithsonian
Like I said, Godzilla, step aside, there’s a tiny guy who, with the help of some Marvel-esque interference, could be next in line for the crown!

A Penny Spar'd
I’m sure that we have all heard the idiom “A penny saved is a penny earned.” But, did you know that this saying, in truth, is nearly 400 years old?
As incredible as this sounds, it’s true!
This idiom is often incorrectly credited to Benjamin Franklin (writing as Richard Saunders) in Poor Richard’s Almanac.
However, from what I can find the saying first appeared, albeit with slightly different wording, in Jacula Prudentum: Outlandish Proverbs, Sentences, Etc. written by George Herbert in 1633!
The original phrase was actually “A penny spar’d is a penny twice got.”
http://www.oxfordreference.com/view/10.1093/acref/9780198734901.001.0001/acref-9780198734901
The idiom went through a few phrasing changes before being widely popularized by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700s, but the sentiment remains true to this day!
