Thinking about how if The Avengers/X-Men switched universes with the Justice League/Teen Titans for a day it’d cause so much chaos.
Cyclops shows up, saves people in a burning building and is prepared for the standard “mutie” rigamarole only for the civilians to start praising him so much he starts getting weirded out. Meanwhile Starfire does the same but gets bottles thrown at her by racists.
Spider-Man gets an entire podcast dedicated to glazing him while JJJ has a field day with Batman and ALL the things he can call him out on.
Supes has to bash the Klan again but this time they ARENT worshipping him at the start cause he’s either a mutant or an alien to them, and Tony Stark, we’ll he’d show off one gleam of “buyable tech” from him and he’d be elected president.

I've rewatched Apology tour about five times now and I keep having this awful feeling whenever I get to the "Fuck Blitzo Party", because while the episode and tone of the section portray it as a group coping mechanism for all the people Blitzo hurt, it never feels HEALTHY.
Verosika says its them coping together and finding people who share the same pain to heal together, a group therapy session basically, but when the entire events of the session is a party, held every year solely dedicated to hating the person who hurt you despite caring about them still isn't group coping.
Its staying in the safety of your pain.
Everyone there, from Verosika to Stolas, is there because they hate Blitzo, but also still care about him. They throw knives at effigies and eat cake that looks like his corpse, yet they break down crying whenever they think of him actually getting hurt. They hate him with every fiber of their beings yet feel like shit for doing so, and they get with people who share the same pain but always come back to the same party about hating the same guy to get with people who also had their heart broken by them.
We don't know how long its been happening, but we can guess that practically everyone there is a repeat goer. even if they hook up, they always come back.
Because to them, its a form of safety. They know a place where there will be people who share similar experiences and pain, even as that place shoves that pain in their face and makes them revel in it.
It says a lot that the only person that we know ISN'T there is Fizz, and thats because Fizz forgave him after coming to an understanding with him. Fizz chose to let go of his hate after understanding what happened that night, and moved on.
I remember something my grandmother told me. Forgiving isn't letting in happiness, its letting go of pain. Fizz let go of his and is happier now, he was able to, with Blitzo's help, get free of Mamon and publicly be with Asmodeus, and the two are on better terms.
Verosika, up until Apology Tour, at any mention of Blitzo, immediately swung to mood into calling him out and embarrassing him publicly, she moved her office next to his JUST to piss her off, and it got her arrested in the human world. She throws a party to cope with her pain and heartbreak to feel better yet all it does is really make her feel like shit.
And yes, she deserves to not forgive Blitzo. She can hate him, and she is right to not want him in her life and she SHOULD show him how much he hurt her. And she has, and all she can do is KEEP doing it, keep reveling in her pain and sorrow even as she knows its bad and shitty is because its safe to her.
And she's right. Forgiveness is scary. Its like a needle in the arm, yes its going to hurt, yes its a scary thing to do, but ultimately, letting go of the hate that defines you is better, because now you can move on.
The only time we see Verosika smile, truly smile, is after Blitzo tells her he doesn't want to be the way he is and genuinely wants to change, and is truly remorseful for what he did, and she smiles. Its not one of "Im happy to see you in pain" because she's not looking at him. It reads more "You're actually trying to make things right and change, and i can get why you're like this."
The burden of proof is on the source of pain, on Blitzo, but its still a two way street for forgiveness, and Verosika should see that her "Fuck Blitzo Party" isn't going to give her the solace she wants from Blitzo.

There’s something that’s been nudging me about Shadow of the Erdtree lately, and investigating it it goes back into a Soulsborne DLC problem in general.
They rarely have consequences on the base game story/world.
For clarity, The DS3 DLC storyline was hugely self contained to the point really only you and Patches matter in, and The Old Hunters was also boxed off enough that it didn’t tie into the rest of Moon Presence/Nightmare Shenanigans.
But Old Hunters had their existence and story acknowledged by Doll/Gherman, and in DS2 the DLC gave you a new ending of leaving the cycle of Fire all together by beating all the DLC end bosses.
However in DS3 you get, not really anything that can be affected outside of the DLC areas. No one really acknowledges the fact that you have been to the end of the world/a painted world or had an effect on any of it. (Though to be fair, everyone is more concerned about the coming Darkness apocalypse to care).
But Elden Ring doesn’t really have the excuse character wise. You think IC Gideon will see you waddle by decked out in Messmer’s looted armor, his Spear and a Shadow Rune in hand and just, not peek his head up and ask how the fuck you got to a place he didn’t know about? That dusty old man would be crawling over you like crack and spitting like the roadrunner down to Moghwyn palace to snort up some Shadow paper dust the moment you mention he has the chance. This is his chance to get even MORE knowledge no one else has.
Malenia’s fight is an even more obvious one, just, a change in dialogue where if you beat Miquella before her she can sense his great rune/death from you and immediately know you just killed her brother. Perhaps even acknowledge that she herself was manipulated by him but she still must avenge him no matter what.
Melina absolutely should have something about being in the place her brother is, being near him again and what her thoughts on the Shadow Realm/Scadutree are.
(Also while we’re here Lord of FF questline is painfully underfunded in the same way. You’re telling me you go into a place sealed from the rest of the world, containing the one thing capable of destroying it all, taking in apart of it so you yourself can destroy the world and no one besides Melina gives a shit? I’m sorry???)
(Like there’s so many cool ideas to play with. Everyone else’s quests ending as they realize you are set to literally destroy the world and now have to stop you, all the unique interactions that come with it. Gideon changing his motivation from “Mommy Marika told us to fight” to “This world, and my adopted daughter will be lost/was killed by you, I won’t let you destroy Lady Marika’s order.”)
(Godfrey/Horah Loux fighting not because he wants to see his ex again, but because he knows what you have done and will do if you win. Roderika refusing to spirit tune but you intimidating/hurting her into it but Hewg then refusing to smith for you because of what you did to her. Enia outright terrified of you, Mirial calling you a heresy because the FF is just THAT evil, Fia and Roger both castigating you because you would deny those who live in death and the living both the right to live and then pairing up with D because you are simply THAT much of a threat.
Ranni would absolutely be a boss fight, she knows what the FF can do, what it’s capable of and how her plan to be free of the Fingers and ascend is now moot because the thing that will fucking end the world is rampaging around.
Volcano Manor would likely lock you out of the house because they know you’re coming to kill them/Rykaed. Mohg may have even broke out of Miquella’s control long enough to recognize the FF, something he left a phantom of himself to guard, in front of him and be g scared shitless. The entire Lands Between NPCs uniting against you in a final battle boss rush ending with a fight with Radagon/Elden Beast where the fight is less you putting down a shattered god/an alien entity to a desperate attempt to stop the worlds end as Ranni empowers her dad with her own because she’s rather risk being back under Greater Will control than let the world she wants to save/rule burn.)

Satan: My vision on the King of Wrath.
I've been intrigued in what Satan, The King of Wrath, might look like in the future when he is eventually revealed. Wrath has always been my favorite sin, and seeing what kind of take the Spindle Horse team might have on it is something I've been waiting for.
But I've been coming up with ideas of my own regarding how Wrath might work, and why Satan became the king of it
In most Christian texts, Satan, often referred to as the dragon, is slain by the Archangel Michael during the final battle of Armageddon, and is defeated quite handedly by some accounts. Satan is also a name for Lucifer, often interchangeably, as Satan is the name Lucifer took after his fall from Heaven, while other texts have them be two different beings all together. I imagined that, like Hazbin's Lucifer, Satan was also an angel, and to put a gnostic spin his original name was Satanael. He was brothers with Michael during his time in Heaven, and were as close as brothers could be, playing, training and growing up together, at least as much as two immortal guardians of virtue could be. The two swore never to harm one another in anyway, under pain of death by the other. Then, one day, they both receive a revelation. At some point in the future, Michael will kill Satan. They don't know why, they don't know when, just that Michael will slay his own brother. Both are obviously disturbed, but there for Michael, someone so deadset and sure about his own self and his future, dismisses it, believing that fate is not set in stone as it is. Satan, meanwhile, is terrified of this revelation, and sets out to try and stop this form occurring at all costs.
This, is when Lucifer shows up, and offers Satan a deal. Join him and his rebellion against God and he can stop his death from occurring. Satan, believing that Lucifer actually would be able to save his life and stop Michael from suffering that fate, joins him readily.
When the Rebellion come about, Michael immediately takes the field and beelines for Lucifer, wanting to cut the head off the snake, but is stopped by Satan from doing so. Satan pleads with Michael that, if they worked together, then they could stop the fate to which they were assigned, believing that his brother was also trying to stop the fate from occurring.
Michael, however, doesn't even stop to listen, stabbing Satan in the chest the moment he sees him defend Lucifer. Michael would have killed him there, mercilessly, but Lucifer fell, and took Satan with him, who went willingly. After the Fall, Michael would declare that, due to his betrayal of Heaven and the Father, they were no longer brothers, and he vowed that should Satan ever step foot in Heaven again, he would kill him on sight.
When Satan reached Hell, he burned in Gehenna, the lake of fire. Here, all the holy power and grace of Satanael was burned away, leaving him with nothing but his wrath, hatred, and fear. Wrath at himself for believing Lucifer, hatred for Michael for, in his mind, betraying him while he tried to stop his fate, fear for his own mortality, knowing that only his life was considered mortal, as he was fated to die one day. Wrath for the world, wanting to burn everything to dust before he dies, hatred for Lucifer, for deceiving him, and fear of Michael, for being his doom.
Eventually, his wrath turned all of Gehenna into the Circle of Wrath, which gave birth to the Imps. Beelzebub mentioned that Satan was like a brother and that's due to her being the only one who knows why Satan is the way he is. Her empathic abilities allow her to feel why he's so angry, and is the only one who can approach him, or at least is willing.
The other Sins wrote him off as a nutcase rage monster who terrorizes his circle, leaving it the barren desert it is, but Beelzebub sees past it, and knows just how scared Satan is, scared that he's going to die one day and there isn't anything he can do to stop it. She tries to help him, and in his lowest moments, she practically drops everything to go make sure he doesn't hurt himself, and is able to take care of himself.
There is a fitness app that is linked to Satan, but he didn't create it. Mammon did after seeing how often Satan trains and works out. Not for self improvement or even just a routine, but as a coping mechanic. Maybe, just maybe if he trains hard and long enough, he'll be strong enough to survive. But no matter what, his fate never changes. Bee often has to get him to stop training or risk hurting himself from over exertion, only being successful enough to get him to sleep for long enough to rest before going right back at it.
This is the case for the times he's not having a wrath filled episode, and is practically incoherent and inconsolable, like when Lucifer visits his ring, or he has a traumatic episode reliving the revelation, the Rebellion, or both.
Satan is someone who was burned by the world, those he loved and those he trusted, he honestly has every right to be angry, and may just be the most tragic sin of all.

Unearthed Fanfic Idea Part 3: The Characters
Magic Eaters:
Saunders McClellan: Best agent among the Magic Eaters, with a perfect mission record and scores of rouge wizard kills and captures to his name. Each Magic Eater agent has their own unique style, in both fashion and fighting, with no set uniform standards among them. Saunders style is a high mastery of full body MM and high movement, keeping his opponents off guard and frantic as he is constantly darting around and ambushing. Even if a spell were to hit, his body is covered in a light but full body suit of magic eater metal armor. His gauntlets all end in long, sharpened claws with serrated blades going down the forearms. His legs too are armed, with blades of magic eater metal running up the length of his shins and protruding from his heel. On his back is a long, but thin cape covering only one shoulder and half his back. On it, is emblazoned the words, in English, "DESTROY ALL EVIL" His helmet is crafted out of magic eater metal, and is mechanized to collapse into the suit when not in use. It is made to look akin to a snarling demon, but in a modernized, sleek look.
Saunders is reserved, quiet and brooding individual. Think someone trying to imitate a stereotypical Batman. In truth, he is a huge fucking nerd who went REALLY hard into comics and made that his thing, to where his personal room is lines with bookshelves of comics and statues of superheroes, mainly Batman. When not in his "batman" persona, he's an easily embarrassed dork who hides his passions out of embarrassment and is VERY socially awkward, only having adopted the persona to be able to disassociate himself from his fear. He keeps this secret from the rest of the Magic Eaters.
Navin Dhebar: Leader of the Magic Eaters' "Hit List" squad, a team solely sortied out on kill orders. His style of fighting involves the use of two urumi, an Indian style of whip-like sword of thin, flexible metal, each hilt holding five separate, six foot long blades made out of tempered magic eater metal. He fights in an overwhelming and hard hitting style, where in the blades are in constant motion, seeming to come from everywhere at once. His main outfit in sorties is a dark purple bandh gala suit and black undershirt. In it is small cables of magic eater metal sewn into the suit's fabric, providing only a basic level of magical protection and no outward effects upon a magical being. On the back of the suit jacket, emblazoned are the words, "सभी बुराइयों को नष्ट करना"
Navin is a very suave and composed man. A natural flirt and womanizer, he uses his good looks often and isn't afraid to show them off or use them for his own gain. He can sometimes get arrogant and foolhardy, often leading to him getting into hot water with others, especially women. On missions, he is a natural leader and is extremely proficient at leading his squad and in combat.
Hannah Bjerke: she took the name from the ancient Valkyrie. Born in Sweden, she was kidnapped and experimented on by rouge wizards, trying to make new strains of lycanthropy for different animals. She was the only survivor, and infected with a strain of lycanthropy for the white-tailed eagle, though the transformation is semi-permanent, with eagle wings having developed on her back as a constant, but can transform into a 'were-eagle'. The experiments did render her mute, mutating her vocal cords to uselessness, and her feet are more talon like than human. She's entirely reclusive, preferring a solo route but offering to work with Navin and Navin only. She uses magic-eater metal wing attachments, turning the edges of them into razor sharp blades, and two claws on each end of the wing, and a spear of magic eater metal. The wings do not allow her flight, however. Her Magic Eater "uniform" is a mix of magic eater plates, chainmail, leather and fur armor. She is mildly muscular, and her blonde hair is feathery and cut short.
Kiryu Tarenaka: Former Yakuza turned Magic Eater. After a fallen onmyōji, the Japanese form of sorcery, slaughtered his family to use in a ritual to bind an oni. He survived and beat the sorcerer to death with his bare hands, and was brought into the Magic Eaters due to him performing rampant witch hunts that endangered the Statute of Secrecy. His design is that of a typical yakuza, tailored suit with popped shirt collar, slicked back hair, light stubble, and he’s athletically built. He has a scar going across his forehead from where the onmyōji bled him for the ritual. His magic eater style is unique in that he doesn’t carry a weapon, preferring a brawling style of fighting. His magic eater metal is actually infused into the tattoo ink of his irezumi, which takes the style of a ronin slaying a demon disguised as a priest. The Metal has infused with his body, increasing his strength and making him resistant to even high tier spells, and can even nullify transformation spells entirely.
Von Rhines:
Leonine Gladio Von Rhine: Scion and heir apparent to House Von Rhine, and the strongest Von Rhine seen since Sir Rupert. While Von Rhine Magic is limited to combat magic, he has adapted many forms of spells, curses and hexes to be advantageous in battle, such as reworking the Imperius curse to make an opponents movement's sloppy as they have to fight against their own body. Loud, brash, and immediately the center of attention just by walking into a room, his actions are to earn his place as the next head of the House by killing Voldemort, as no prophecy, nor the tides of fate would hold back House Von Rhine from glory.
Aimory Girard Von Rhine: Father of Leonine and current head of House Von Rhine.
House Le Fey:
Morgan Le Fey: The original Morgan Le Fey, sister to King Arthur. The eternal head of House Le Fey which was founded after the fall of Camelot and battle of Camlann.
Grisandoles Le Fey: A member of the Le Fey family, and a direct descendant of Morgan Le Fey. A quiet person, who rarely speaks, their features are hidden underneath large, ornate robes and hoods. Their magic capabilities are at such a level that regularly perform high level magic without a wand or any form of regular catalyst. Their hope is to continue their magic education at Hogwarts as Hogwart's version of a graduate student, if there were anything left for them to learn.
Jaunine Le Fey: Member of House Le Fey. AFAB, he used magic to change his sex to that of a man. In lieu of traditional spell casting catalysts such as wands, he instead uses a large sheet of woven succubus hair, with magic infused gemstones quilted in. His magic is based around pocket dimensions created using the sheet as a gateway, and is a foremost expert of apparition and disapparition.
MISC:
Dr. Vincent Alighieri: Descendent of Dante Alighieri, the Father of Daemonology. He has an iffy view on Dante, as he is aware the founding text of Daemonology, The Divine Comedy, is the most accurate depiction of the Nine Circles in terms of layout, if not culture and hierarchy, is full of Dante patting himself on the back most of the time and praising Vergil too much. He is a very cocky and self-assured individual, having multiple demons, angles and even a minor god bound to him. His teaching is a very hand on approach, but still has EXTREME safety measures in place during lessons. He is brash, has little respect for authority, and can be an open flirt of both an annoying or endearing kind, depending on weather or not he wants to piss someone off, or is actually trying to flirt, and he's pan. His outfit normal consists of a pinstripe suit and a black shirt and dark grey vest, often open along with the jacket. He has a chain on his pants, and his sleeves are rolled up on both his shirt and jacket, where his arms show tattoos of texts and symbols in various languages and scripts, of which are demonic and divine names, which he used to bind demons and divine beings to himself. The ink used is a mix of demon, divine and his own blood. His hair is short and black in an undercut. He has small gauges in both ears, along with multiple other piercings in his ears.
Rourke Helglan: Supreme Leader of the Brotherhood of the Magi, anti-muggle extremist and wizard supremacist, he is solely motivated by hatred against muggle kind, dresses in black robes and wields a staff made of dogwood with a core of chimera bone.

Unearthed Fanfic Ideas Part 2: The Arcs
Shadow Demon Arc: The first arc of the story. In it, Saunders McClellan is sent to Hogwarts undercover as a student, where he is to act as a squib student taking courses to become apart of the Ministry of Magic. But is instead exploiting the escape of Sirius Black to help create chaos and keep the Order of the Phoenix occupied at Hogwarts so as to prevent them from finding out the mobilization of the Magic Eaters, so by night he causes terror around Hogwarts.
Daemonology Arc: As a reward for the highest scoring students of Hogwarts, they are taken on a filed trip with Dr. Vincent Alighieri, the Wizarding World’s foremost expert of Daemonology. Ferried to remote Greece for a month long stay on pure Daemonology studies, the group is stuck fighting for their lives when a Death Eater daemonologist arrives and attempts to open a portal to Hell. It’s up to Hermione, Dr. Alighieri, an original Slytherin student, and Magic Eater Reverend Hopkins to shut the Gates of Hell itself.
Shame of Rhine Arc: Dementor activity have been on the rise to an unprecedented degree, and the Wider Wizarding World has no clue why, except for House Von Rhine. Long ago, one of the patriarchs of the Von Rhine had fallen into depravity, seeking only to kill and destroy for the sake of death and destruction. So far had he fallen, dementors had begun to follow in his wake. So far had he fallen, that he waged war against his own House. He had been banished from the House after his defeat, but he was cursed to wander, his form twisted and amortal, a dementor in human flesh. Leonine takes it upon himself to bring an end to this shame of the Von Rhine's once and for all.
The introduction to the arc will consist of Voldemort attempting to recruit the Dementor of Flesh into the Death Eaters, only for DoF and his 'pack' of dementors to kill everyone of the Death Eaters present, and DoF body the shit out of Voldemort and try to eat his soul, but cant because of his soul being in the horcruxes.
Brotherhood Arc: After Voldemort's return, he gathers together a league of anti-muggle groups to join his ranks of Death Eaters, all of which join, seeing Voldemort as the chance to enact their goals. All except the Brotherhood of the Magi, the only ones to refuse his call, and denounce Voldemort and his plans, refusing to rule over muggles, instead, believing that the very existence of muggles is a threat to all wizard kind, and as such, must be eradicated, leaving the earth for wizards only. To do so, the Brotherhood breaks the greatest of all wizarding laws, the Statute of Secrecy. The Magic Eaters deploy in full force, Dumbledore's Army and the Order of the Phoenix stuck in the middle as all out war breaks loose.
Divine Homecoming Arc: The Statute of Secrecy is broken, Muggle society is fully aware of the existence of magic, the Magic Eaters are no longer hidden, and the world is in chaos over the revelation. What's more, magical anomalies are occurring at unprecedented levels, magical creatures are encroaching more and more into muggle lands and society, and muggle-born wizards are appearing at unheard of levels, and the cause can only be described as biblical. The gods of old are returning. Cast out from worship by the Birth of Christ, now that humanity at large knows they exist, they return to their homelands once again to claim their places among the heavens.
Deathseekers Arc: Unconvinced that Harry Potter is the sole solution to the problem that is Voldemort, members of the Order of the Pheonix, Aurors, and Magic Eaters team up to find an alternative solution than a teenage boy with a scar. This leads them to searching ancient legends for anything that could kill an immortal being. They find three potential solutions. Pure Hydra Venom, the immortal slaying Harpe of Perseus, and the Lance of Longinus. The only problem is, Hydra's are extinct, the Harpe is lost to time and the Lance of Longinus is under the control of the Church, and they HATE wizards of all kinds, viewing magic as an abomination in the eyes of God. However, there are records of a Hydra and the Harpe existing with known locations. The Ancient Learnean Swamp, and just after Perseus slayed the gorgon Medusa, both of which are in the Greek Age of Heroes. In order to get these items, two teams go to Time Wounds to travel back to Ancient Greece, get the venom and Harpe, and return to kill Voldemort.
Dark Lords Return Arc: Turns out, one of the past Dark Lords neve died, and had been resurrected through a phylactery, possession, and regrowing his old body. He then brought back the rest of the Dark Lords sans Vortigern and Cromwell, to take over the entire world, convincing them they'll have plenty of time to kill each other once their personal fiefs are conquered. The Death Eaters, Pheonix, Magic Eaters, and even the Ones Beyond have to work together in order to stop these ancient menaces from total conquest.

Unearthing old fanfic ideas (pt 1?) (TW: Suicide mention)
Went roving through an old notebook full of fanfic ideas and came across one that unlocked a six-month long memory of a deluge of ideas. It was a harry potter fic called "Magic Eater", don't think I made wrote any of it though. Just a slurry of ideas and concepts I came up with so I figured I post some here. Title: Magic Eater Concept: Begins at Goblet of Fire for introducing the new houses and wizard characters. Post Order of the Pheonix when the world learns of Voldemort's return, a bunch of rouge wizards take this as a chance to go cause chaos in the muggle world, using magic to cause crime and get away with it much easier. This, in turn, causes the reactivation of a centuries old witch-hunting organization called the Magic Eaters, the ones to lead the original Witch-Hunts and were the real reason the Statute of Secrecy was created, and creates an entirely new front in the Second Wizarding War. Alongside this, whispers of ancient, extremely powerful wizarding families have popped up, and they aren't liking the sound of this "Dark Lord", nor the current state of wizarding.
Magic Eaters: An international, non-government organization of witch-hunters who keep the Wizarding World from interfering with the Muggle world. The way they fight wizards is through the magic-eater metal. A 'living' metal that landed on Earth millennia ago that feeds on, and negates magic, so any spell that comes into contact with it is negated, or "eaten" by the metal. Guns are used, but even with magic-eater bullets, are ineffective when compared the abilities of a wizard who can disparate and teleport away, and are also exceedingly skilled in ranged combat. So the only truly effective way for a Magic Eater to fight a wizard is through melee, which wizards are barely trained in Magic Eater Metal: The metal is a living, alien metal to Earth, crashlanding in a meteor somewhere during the time of the Roman Empire, and then began feeding off the natural magic of the world, multiplying and growing until it was found by witch hunters in the early 1300s, who used it in their hunts. After seeing this success, the witch hunters founded the Sacred Order of Witch Hunters, a proto-form of the Magic Eaters. The raw, unrefined metal grows when it eats magic, and often the main source, the site of the meteor landing, is fed wizards to grow more metal. The living aspect means the metal can "evolve", possibly storing magic rather than just outright eating it, but this has never been observed naturally before, only highly processed and purified MEM has been capable of this. The metal is highly adaptive, being able to be turned to dust and infused in tattoo ink and be safe for humas, but deadly toxic to wizards in any form. Can "mutate".
Ancient Wizarding Families Von Rhines: The Von Rhine family are one of the oldest and most accomplished wizarding families in history. Founded by Sir Rupert of the Rhine, they excelled in combat magic, creating an entire school of magic fighting, Spell-blading, which trade in wands for spell-swords, and are the only known wizarding family to be not only using, but also mastering close-ranged magic combat. They are obsessed with personal honor earned in battle, and each member of the family must prove themselves by besting a great enemy on their 16th birthday, only then do they become a true member of the Von Rhine family. However, the only way they were able to become so masterful in their skill is by waging constant war, and it was this that lead the family away from the Wizarding World to places beyond the known, and only recently have they returned to claim their next great prize, the head of this supposed "Dark Lord".
House Le Fey: Descendants of Morgan Le Fey, sister to King Arthur and the only true rival to Merlin, these wizards are the foremost researchers into the depths of magic itself, and are the creators of the widely accepted usage of and system for casting magic in the current Wizarding Society. But their research hasn't stopped, they only continued. So far into the secrets of magic that they have lost all sense of morals, their sense of right and wrong twisted to near non-existence. Scions of House Le Fey are only accepted by creating a new spell or form of magic, no matter the cost. It was in their research that the entirety of the House was lost to time, gone, into places beyond the known, perhaps into the depths of magic itself. But now they are back, and will show a "Dark Lord" how a true wizard does magic.
House Hephastialus: Barely a house, closer to a guild, they are a group of the most proficient and masterful craftsmen in the world. Creating countless magical devices, weapons and wonders, each member devotes their life to creating a magical artifact worthy of legend, the "Magnum Opus", a device said to bear the power of a god, or, the ability to slay one. They are close allies to the Von Rhines, and have sworn to act as their blacksmiths, forging masterful weapons and spellblades. The weapons they forge make the Sword of Gryffindor look like a piece of rusty steel.
Brotherhood of the Magi: A group of 'heretic' wizards who seek to enact wizard supremacy upon the world. They are secretive and elusive to both aurors and Magic Eaters, and have been trying to put secret members of their order into positions of power in both Wizarding and Muggle societies, it has been successful on the muggle front, but mixed to low success on the wizarding front due to mindreading spells and charms. Voldemort had tried to get them to join the Death Eaters, but they refused due to disagreeing with Voldemort's ideas of rule, seeing it as a child lashing out rather than a chance to overthrow a 'corrupt society'. Voldemort wants to rule over a pureblooded wizard society with muggles beneath them, Magi want to exterminate muggles entirely, viewing their existence as a threat to magic itself. They view muggle society as snuffing out wizarding ones, since wizards now are forced to live hidden from the rest of the world.
The Ones Beyond: A group of the most powerful and intelligent wizards in the world. These wizards are those who have dedicated mind body and soul to studying magic and the make up of the world. They have no written knowledge or texts, not oral history, no creed or doctrine to guide them. They are simply spell casters who’s power is so great no wizards could match them. They are untouchable, and unpredictable, as each one is beholden only to themselves.
Magic System: The magic system in Magic Eater is based on two, uncompromising aspects of spell-casting, "Intent" and "Layering". Intent is simple, its what the spell-caster wishes to achieve through magic. "Layering" is the act of layering the magic itself to create the intended spell effect. "Intent" cannot be acted upon without "Layering", and "Layering" is useless without intent. The way a spell is cast is the spell-caster starts with their intended spell effect. For example, "levitate an object". The next step involves the layering of magic. In the Standard Spellcasting System, the form of spell-casting in wide use and taught to every wizard in the known Wizarding World, there consists three levels of common layering. The wand, the wand motion, and the spell name. The wand itself is a natural layering device, it alone enough to layer magic enough to act upon intent. The wand motion allows for further layering, increasing the spell potency, the spell name is an additional bit of layering.
Layering itself is divided into two types, natural layering and additional layering. Natural layering is the inherent layering that the wand, motion and name provide. Additional layering is anything added onto the spell's natural layering to make it extra potent. Additional layering is simple after the base layers, however, the more layers added, the more complex the spell becomes, and the higher the risk the spell goes out of control. The more powerful the wand, the more natural layering. The average wand+incantation+motion can naturally layer around 100. Additional Layering by an average wizard is often reaching around 200 casually and 300 if focused. Advanced Wizards, such as professors and Aurors, can reach into the thousands. McGonagall can layer a spell up to 7,234 as a personal record. Veteran Aurors have been rumored to reach 10,000 layers, but only in a testing environment. In the field, they are close to 8,000-8,500. Master level wizards, such as Voldemort and Dumbledoor, truly focusing their strength and mind into a spell, can reach up to 100,000 layers. However, in most wizard duels, layering rarely exceeds that of the upper hundreds or low 1000s between two skilled opponents as the intended effects at that level are often more than satisfactory, and the amount of layering beyond that often takes up critical time. (It should be noted that the level of layering required for different intents varies on the intent of the spell. Most intents work fine with natural layering. However, the more complex the intent, the more layering is required just to make it work at all, let alone give the intended effect. So a simple accio spell takes far far less layering than, say, disapparate, or open a rift in space time. The middle requiring a big level of layering, the latter requiring impossible levels of layering) Spellcasting Types: The Ministry of Magic created the Standard Spellcasting System, a standardized form of easy spellcasting that all wizards can accomplish regardless of skill or intellect. It was based on the magic used by most wizards during the time of Merlin in the British Isles. This system is based on three things, a wand, a spell name, and wand motion. Spell names are either latin or greek, which provides layering, and the wand motion and wand apparatus also give natural layering. Additional layering is applied when a wizard concentrates to create these layers. Other styles exist, like the Modern Magic Mandates, which is a more unorthodox system of spellcasting, based off of magical creatures and can be used by hand motions and/or non-standard fetishes like staves.
New Deathly Hallows: The New Deathly Hallows is a concept later in the story where, in order to combat Voldemort who gains control of all of the original Deathly Hallows, The Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility. So, House Hephastialus brought it upon themselves to create New Deathly Hallows to act as a means to counter the power of the Deathly Hallows. (The aim was to make something of an 'opposite in power to the normal Deathly Hallows)
The Magnum Opus: The dream of House Hephastialus has been achieved, and is a means to counter the Elder Wand. Given to Lionel Von Rhine, it takes the form of a spellblade of pure light, and any spell cast with it achieves impossible levels of natural layering, enough to easily overpower Voldemort with the Elder Wand, and even slay a god if needed.
Homunculus Stone: A device crafted to counter the Resurrection Stone by creating life. It is an incomplete version, and the life it creates are not sentient and barely thinking enough to move, used only for the most basic of tasks unless focused on for WEEKS to make a 'perfect' homunculus.
Device of Enlightenment: A device created with a mix of magical powers, and magic-eater technology. It negates the Cloak of Invisibility, exposes any magical weaknesses, and negates any and all magical defenses. Used in the final fight.
Field of Daemonology: Daemonology is divided into two categories, Demonology, and Bio-theology. Demonology is the study of demonic creatures, and how to summon, bind, banish and exorcise them, along with language, culture, anatomy and physiology, and classification of demonic entities. Bio-theology is the study of divine or heavenly creatures, their classification, language, summoning, habits, culture etc.
A “demon” is a being that can only be found in the realm of Hell and one of its many sections.
Bio-theological beings are oft considers to be angels and their variations, but also gods, God, Demi-gods, and anything born in a “Heavenly” or divine realm
Dark Lord (Title): The label "Dark Lord" is actually a title given by the English Wizarding Community and the Ministry of Magic to the greatest threat to the English Wizarding World and to the Ministry of Magic, essentially, Public Enemy #1. It is a once-in-a-generation given title in that, when the threat of the Dark Lord is over, the Ministry enacts the policy of Ultimo Obliviate Damnatio Memoriae, a form of complete and total erasure of the Dark Lord's history and presence in the Wizarding World, essentially making it so it seems as if they had never existed. No memories, not written texts, no survivor testimonies, even the immediate and extended families of the Dark Lord's are either memory wiped, imprisoned or even killed to make sure that no remaining memories of the Dark Lord remain in the world, so any strategies, successful tactics and learnable mistakes made by the previous Dark Lords are not used by any potential later Dark Lords, as well as denying them any kind of veneration in death.
The only known text mentioning a previous Dark Lord is a single paragraph, written in the first edition text of Merlin's personal journal, which the Minsitry has used as a basis for the Drýcræft Magna Carta, the Founding Document of the English Ministry of Magic. The law itself is passed down by the Ministers of Magic to the next, and once out of office, they are obliviated of the law existing.
There have been 9 total Dark Lords, Voldemort is the tenth, but two have survived the Ultimo Obliviate Damnatio. The first was Vortigern, the rival lord to King Arthur, and the other was Oliver Cromwell. Ironic that the only two remembered Dark Lords were not mages. Oliver Cromwell: The reason he was declared "Dark Lord", was because, as Lord Protector of England, he sought to wipe out the English Wizarding Community, and was almost successful, as he had gained access to Magic Eater Metal and equipped his troops with it in his campaign. The Magic Eaters would claim every weapon and armor used in these campaigns, and wiped out any and all records of his fight against wizards. it is unknown how he gained access Magic Eater.
Hogwarts Castle and Grounds: The Castle as it is known today was built in 993 CE by the Architect and the Four Wizards, but the area itself is older and much more that it appears to be. The area that it resides on is actually a separated portion of the Isle of Avalon, which through magical means and natural geological drift had shifted into the Scottish Highlands. The nature of the Isle, immensely magical as it is an intersection between a divine realm and the mortal world, bends the very space in encompasses. There is a reason the Hogwarts Express direction is the only reliable way to and from Hogwarts, as it passes through the only guaranteed way. It is possible to gain entrance other ways, but require spells and magical power nigh impossible for anyone below Dumbledore's level. Even then it would take a few days and countless sacrifices to get a hole open long enough to actually get through.
Daemonologists can get through easier because of the demonic and divine contracts that allow them to travel realms.
Because of the nature of the Isle of Avalon, magical creatures flock to the place, which the total area of the grounds and beyond is unknown, the furthest anyone has bothered to explore is around 1000km in any direction, and it has kept going, not on any place on Earth. At the thousand mile mark, the vegetation was said to be lush, bountiful, peaceful, the air itself like bliss turned into oxygen. The exploration team was found at Hogwarts, all teleported back the moment they hit the 1000km mark. When asked, the exploration team stated that they had "glimpsed Paradise". Afterwards, most were found dead by suicide. Only one survived, but they are locked away in St. Mungo's.
Often times magical creatures and monsters find their way into the Hogwarts area as a refuge. Ranging from dragons, to trolls, major insects and other beasts. But enchantments and Hagrid's own concoctions keep the beasts away from the castle and students, and into the Dark Forest or the surrounding mountains. Unless someone brings them there on purpose.
The castle itself, inside, is rather non-Euclidian. In the millennia that it has existed, countless enchantments, spells, curses, changes and logical impossibilities have been added onto the castle. There have been entire wings, rooms and other sections that have only been seen by professors once in their lifetime. Entire forgotten wards filled with all manner of mysteries have been lost to magical means, only appearing once the magic has dissipated or uncovered by accident. The dungeons beyond the Slytherin dorms is a maze of unknowable horrors and locked away beasts, extending farther down than anyone dares to go, even Dumbledore himself. The Wards are maintained and reinforced daily, and the most dangerous are so far below they can never come back up. Most additions were added as needed, or a student/professor created it as apart of their experiment/research.
Warlocks: A type of spellcaster who gained power through a contract with an otherworldly entity, a devil or an Outer Being. They are seen as grand threats by both the Wizarding World and Magic Eaters, as Warlocks most often are muggles who made these contracts to gain power, and the corrupting nature of having magic in a muggle body leads them to becoming destructive and sadistic, and warlocks are not bound to the same rules as most wizards. That, and most often the contract is made to summon an unbound Goetia Demon or an Outer Being into the world. If a warlock is ever found, forces are immediately deployed to destroy them with extreme prejudice.
Time Turner: Time Turner's are extraordinarily rare magical devices that allow one to turn back time. However, the process to make one is nigh impossible due to the material needed to perform the time magic. In the hourglass of the Time Turner is Essence of Kronos, the powdered flesh of the Titan of Time after being flayed from his skin in Tartarus. There exists only about five Time Turners in the world, and each are controlled by the Ministry of Magic under a special division of randomly selected wizards, which the Minister does not know of, as they obliviate themselves of the knowledge, and none of the others know either. McGonagall is apart of the division, thus granting her access to the Time Turner she gave to Hermione for her classes, however, she placed a temporal lock on herself with it, so she is aware of the time turner usage.
Creation of the World: When the world was created, the Creator, what Christians, Jewish People and Muslims believe to be God/Allah, created creation, the universe and all its aspects, but left it to develop by itself. From there, it began to take shape into the worlds, planets and realms, forces, natural laws and dynamics. Then, the Creator made life, then humanity in its primordial form. Primordial man was truly made in the image of the Creator, and had some of its power, but not its knowledge. harness these forces with this power creating myths and legends and from this, gods of various pantheons were born from Primordial Man, and was given power and authority over these natural forces and laws, and began to shape Earth to their personal liking.
Pangea was the primordial Earth, but with the enaction of various creation myths by the newly formed Gods, broke up Pangea into the various continents known today.
Gods of differing pantheons had fought in the past, but decided to relegate themselves to their homelands and distinct section of the Heavens to avoid divine war, as it nearly destroyed the planet. The Creator: God/Allah/Adonai/Ahura Mazda/any monotheistic deity/supreme all powerful being is or were inspired by this being. It is the ultimate creator of the universe and all its concepts, it is all powerful and all knowing. It is an existence that cannot be surpassed. It is uninvolved in the affairs of the universe, however, it still acts as its ultimate entity, and is unknowable, even by the 'divine'. Before the flood, The Creator created a generation of man who roamed the earth, directly created by him, who would go on to create great works and civilizations. These were the 'Gods', as they, direct descendants of The Creator and imbued with minute fractions of its power. They were powerful and immortal, but the Creator took their ability to reproduce, preventing more Gods being born into the world.
The Biblical flood happened, which The Creator used to pave the way for the second generation of man, Humans. Those that survived the flood lived on to become objects of worship for these humans. The Creator then made one final, third generation of man, a mix between Gods and Humans, which held fractions of the Gods power, but the reproduction abilities of Humans. These became Wizards.
Daemons are either creations of Gods, or are mutated/evolutions of wizards who survived in the Hells/Heavens, meaning they can reproduce, sexually or asexually.

Says they don't want to debate, proceeds to write a thesis to counter point everything I say. I wasn't condemning the other interpretations of him, or saying mine was better. I start off by saying that the other analysis of him is great and I enjoy that. I just wanted to throw my own hat in the ring. I never said he wasn't uninteresting or compelling or deep. Hell the whole reason I wrote the post. he's one of my favs of the game despite how much I think he sucks. Yes, his whole motivation is to stay alive, and he will do that at ANY cost, no matter what. If you romance him, and then decide to free Orpheus, he doesn't even think of taking the chance to maybe see if Orpheus wouldn't tear his head off with his bare hands, he immediately goes to the Netherbrain. He cares about you only in so much as you are willing to help him stay alive. Also, the whole "reject him by calling him a freak" is only for characters who select that option. You can literally do everything he says, saying "I trust you I trust you" even fuck him, then decide your boundary is "killing a helpless captive we've been abusing the powers of/the only hope of Githyanki freedom isn't really cool" and he'll immediately ditch you to go to the Netherbrain. Also, he does fight you if you go against him, on the Netherbrain. You could say "Oh well the NB is making him". Which fair, but he also clearly states that you are working against him and he has no choice but to kill you to prevent the NB's death, and keep himself alive. The details I saw were always fishy to me. Keep in mind, an abusive/manipulative relationship is always unique. Sure The Emperor may actually care about you, but he will guide and shift you into making sure that you do as he wants, so he can stay alive. My responses were never "knee-jerk". My first play through I trusted him right up until he said "let's kill Orpheus so I can use his power to fight NB." Where I said no because I wanted to free the Githyanki from Vlaakith, and I was shocked to find that he immediately turned on me and left. After a couple more, with the ending in mind, I started seeing into the dialogue more, and I saw that a lot of it was SUPER shifty.
The character is great, i love this slime ball of a squid man, and my interpretation is as valid and true as yours. Just say you wanna suck on his mouth tentacles so we can all go home.
So many have interpreted The Emperor Balduran as a meta commentary on the how the player interacts with game characters and acts as a mirror of how you’re character acts to others. Which is super interesting and props to the writers for it.
But I always see The Emperor, “The Character”, which is its own can of juicy worms.
I should start off by saying this. The Emperor is NOT Balduran.
Ceremorphosis in its final stages destroys the soul of the host and replaces them with a mind flayer that has some of the memories and experiences of the host. They are not a transformed version of the original. (So sorry to pull out the rug on those who want to save Karlach with ceremorphosis, but that’s not Karlach anymore, it’s an ilithid based on Karlach.) They cannot be resurrected, they cannot be recovered. Their fundamental nature has changed from whatever they were, into a new mind flayer.
With this in mind, we can examine The Emperor from the start of your first meeting. The Emperor lies to you. He comes to you in a form of a dream guardian, someone who appeals to whatever you or your characters ideal is. He is everything you would want from the start and promises to protect you if you help them.
When The Emperor does reveal himself as a Mind Flayer, he doesn’t do it willingly, when you have grown to trust him and he you, it’s when he was forced to, when all options of hiding are gone. IIRC he never says anything about revealing it to you, if he could he would have kept lying to you for as long as he needed. He plays off his deceit by saying that he needed you to trust him, that you weren’t ready for the truth, shrouding you in wool of “forces beyond your understanding”.
He catfished you.
Then next you talk he tries to relate, tell you of his exploits as a human. A noble act yes, but again, shrouded in mystery as to who he was. He says he only killed criminals to feed off of, but never what kind of criminals. Were they murderers? Petty thieves? Gang members? Someone who stole bread to feed a starving sister and their son? He never says, just “criminals”. He worked with someone to make the place better, only to have it turn out he mentally controlled her to the point of making her brain dead.
His best friend, most likely lover, saw he was sick and went from heaven to hell to try and get him better, while he said he was fine with how he was, until the point where his lover was unable to accept him being gone and he killed him in self defense. Only, as it turns out, his lover may have actually been trying to stop him from doing something evil.
He says he has a troubled, but understandable past that you should sympathize with.
He then comes to you shirtless, ‘vulnerable’. He says there is a connection between you two that has driven you closer, that you understand him and he you. He gets you, and thinks you should “get to know him”. He seduces you, and he’s happy if you go along, but if you refuse he sounds miffed, like he was banking on it happening. And he says he knows everything about you and what you want.
He uses sex and a perceived attraction as a means of gaining trust, started with a false sense of vulnerability.
When you do as he says, follow his lead and “trust” him, he acts happy, overjoyed that you trust him and that you are following your best chance at salvation. That you see Balduran, not a mind flayer.
When you don’t do as he says, not necessarily distrust and go against him, even just thinking “maybe there’s a better option” he calls you a fool, and idiot, an incompetent who will damn themselves and everyone else because they don’t follow his vision. Even in the end, when you say you trust him but killing s bound and helpless man who he’s enslaved and exploited to get this far is wrong and that freeing him is best. He immediately cuts all ties and goes to a higher form of authority to get back at you. He exploits your desires about you, using the dream guardians as fodder. All your desires are nothing but tools to break you down. He knows you, but since you defied him, he will break you for daring tho think against him at all.
Really, The Emperor is an abusive/manipulative partner. He breaks down natural barriers of trust with his words and charisma of “trying to help you” and that you are the only hope (“I love you so much, you are so much better than me”). But only in so much as you follow his word. (Why are you doing this? Aren’t we partners? Don’t you love me? I’m the only one who can help/love you!) He isolates you from the others by talking to you alone, wraps you in six different kinds of lies to protect your sweet precious mind. (DW, it’s fine you don’t need to think that hard about it baby. I will take care of everything you just listen to me) And the moment you decide any other way than his way may be better, he goes against everything he has ever said to you and joins with the thing that enslaved him before just to get back at you, using everything you gave him against you. (Why don’t you love me!? We shared so much together?! Fine! Hope you love getting harassed and swatted bitch!)
The Emperor never cared about like he said. He’s a mind flayer, you are just, a really important thrall to him. That’s all you ever will be. A mind flayer mind is so alien to the thought of “other races are ok” that the closest they can get is “my favorite slave”.
He cares about you only in so much as you ensure his freedom. Becoming a mind flayer, is his way of gaining total control, as you are now HIS ideal, alone from anyone else that may care about you.
