Jaemin’s entire life has had him riddled with anxieties about little and big things. Like Hoodie Allen, Jaemin’s ego gets the best of him, even if he tries to inflate it. While still appeasing his parents, Jaemin is trying his hardest to fulfill his own passions. He enjoys being able to focus more on his computer interests through his degree, but he gets anxious when he thinks about being stuck in a software engineering job for the rest of his life. Being the cool visual of an idol group is his dream but he believes there’s no way for him do that.

My Own Worst Enemy by Lit

Even being riddled with anxiety, Jaemin’s not afraid to be a bit rowdy when he can be. This tends to him making some decisions he might regret, like saying the wrong thing or accidentally getting a bit too drunk at the university parties. Usually Jaemin is the wildest and loudest in a group, as he desires some form of attention or to at least entertain people with his antics.

After realizing that he couldn’t be the doctor that his parents had raised him to be, Jaemin went through a quarter life crisis. His own interests were something he never pursued beyond experimenting with technology, like gaming or learning photography. While his parents are satisfied with him being in a Computer Science program, Jaemin has begun to wonder if this is really it? What’s the point then?

Jaemin doesn’t really have that many close friends, even if he’s someone that tries to get all the attention in the room. Regardless of what Jaemin is pursuing, whether it’s his parents’ dream or his own, he tries to keep his secrets to himself. Working hard is one thing he’s always been good at but hard work is always trumped by a scandal for idols.

Speaking of secrets, Jaemin is a closeted bisexual. When he was growing up, he would have crushes every now and then but he never pursued any of them, even the girls that his parents would have wanted him to date. Usually his crushes are daft pretty boys and that’s definitely something he can’t pursue if he wants to be an idol. Besides the boys just want to be his friend anyways, so he might as well relish in that attention and not ruin the friendships.

While Jaemin himself identifies as an arty boy, due to his love for photography, he understands that he’s not like the usual arty boy. He’s observed other arty boys; they’re cool, indifferent, and mature. Jaemin’s none of those things. That’s probably what leads his eyes to constantly wander and remain on the cool arty boys: a desire to have and be one.

1. FINE LINE- so Hi I am Daniella and I believe in Fine Line supremacy. Periodt. No but seriously guys over the year this song has come to mean a lot to me and not to be dramatic but the lyrics make me feel like Harry physically ripped my heart out and put it on paper. It’s been very challenging for me this year overall but even the “we’ll be alright” alone makes me fall apart and I’m like ya know maybe we will be

To Be So Lonely- okay all of these are gonna tell you how I relate probably so buckle up but anyway I too am ~lonely~ and just the overall message I can’t explain how it makes me feel precisely but JUST KNOW I feel things. It kinda validates that crappy feeling you get when the person you loved moves on and you never really have an outlet for it but listening to this song is a great way to vent when you’re in the inbetween of sad and angry and I genuinely appreciate it

6. Golden- I love brightness, I love happiness, I love being open and vulnerable, and I love love. This song has all of those things and ya know not to be overly and disgustingly soft but I kind of just walk around day to day with this vibe in my head and I love that it has been materialized into a song that I enjoy listening to. 7. Adore You- as a black woman it is the “brown skin and lemon over ice” for me. When I hear this song I really do feel like I’m listening to art and the music video just furthers that. ok so I'm gonna go track by track and do an overall recap at the end

Future Nostalgia: ok this is the opening track and its actually not my favorite but its a BRILIANT opening track. it sets the vibe and the stage for the rest of the album, which is what a good opening song should do. it gives me very retro space cadet, very 80s futuristic vibes - hence future nostalgia 

Don't start now - at first, I only knew this as the song from TikTok but now that I listen to the full song it's really good. the whole album is a dance album but something about don't start now hits different as a dance track it's amazing and a great follow up to the opener - it sets the stage even more before you get into the meat and potatoes lol 

Cool - A SUMMER BANGER. once miss Rona takes fucking seat I better hear cool on the radio. it's fun and light and fresh and just has such a good summer vibe. it was and still is one of my favorites and it has the same retro funky pop vibe of the rest of the album but in a light airy way...does that make sense? 

Physical: not one of my favorites HOWEVER I LOVE THE LYRICS it gives me a very 80s action movie. very fast and furious vibes. a car chase scene in a movie. very Charlies angles. do you see the vision? ya picking up what I'm putting down? 

Levitating: this song ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT HAVE TO GO AS HARD AS IT DOES. A BOP. A MASTERPIECE. LEGENDARY. GROUNDBREAKING. it gives me very Michael Jacksons Off the Wall vibes. THIS is what the pop girlies have been ASKING FOR. 

Pretty Please: an underrated masterpiece. the girlies need TASTE for this one. shes advanced. shes AP level. put some respeK on her name. I will not tolerate slander. 

Hallucinate: THIS? THIS IS THE ONE. THIS IS IT LADS. That beat? amazing. Lyrics? on 10. Vocals? spectacular. 80s disco all the way. it gives me slight Katy perry vibes??? anyone else?? another amazing dance track. this one is honestly one of my favorites. like it just has such a good groove.

Love Again: THE TRANSITION FROM THE VIOLINS TO THE BEAT DROP? MY SOUL LEFT MY BODY. PERIODT. I thought miss Dua was gonna give us a ballad but she switched up and took my wig with her. a mid-tempo dance track can be hard to do but she did it somehow. still giving me Michael Jackson vibes. not gonna lie I had to listen to it a few times for it to grow on me but its a masterpiece. 

Break my Heart: literally from the second beat of the song I knew it was gonna be a banger. AND I WAS RIGHT. wow. I almost have no words. I can feel that baseline in my SOUL. like it just hits different. it's so funky and groovy and it just...hits different. absolute favorite track on the album. Miss Dua did what she had to do with this one. she said I AINT PLAYIN WITH YOU HOES NO MORE. 

Good in Bed: no cap I thought break my heart was the end of the album cause I had NO IDEA this was dua. she sounds so different for some reason. to be honest it's not one of my favorites BUT it's so fun. it gives me Megan trainers first (the album all about that bass was on) album vibes? if you know her first album I think you'll know what I mean. It gives me retro but not retro like the rest of the album...retro a like jukebox in a 50s diner retro. I think this one's gonna grow on me tho. 

Boys Will Be Boys: “boys will be boys, but girls will be women” NEED I FUCKING SAY MORE??? also the children's choir, (I think) adds so much and I love it. 10/10 the best lyrics on the album and I love the message. and I like how she chose this to be the one song that sounds different from the rest of the album AND its the last song to make a statement. this song needs to be in a dove commercial lol.

Overall this album is what the Pop girlies have been asking for for a decade now. It's so groovy and funky and retro yet fresh and fun. there's a clear theme and sound but each song has its own groove and vibe and they fit so well together. I can't remember the last time I heard an album that had THIS cohesive of a sound. this WILL be my summer album. it just makes you feel good and makes you wanna dance and in such a dark time this is what I personally needed. I think Future Nostalgia is the perfect name for the album cause like I said before - its so retro and old school groovy pop but it's so new and fresh and even has some early 2010s sounds in there. whoever produced this album DID WHAT THEY CAME TO DO.  there's truly a song for everyone. Dua Lipa is here and shes STAYING. GRAMMYS 2021 BABYE!! thank you for coming to my ted talk.

The lines “Gets into parties without invitations / How could you ever turn her down?” implies that she’s very good looking. Because it’s telling us she gets into these parties cos she’s attractive, not cos of any other aspects of her person. She’s so beautiful and how could you ever turn her down, right? It limits her to her looks alone and, tho I don’t know her, she’s so much more. Tho this might not be the intention, it comes across as a sexist and yikes statement that is a big no.

Okay Imma start off by saying that Non is highboy annoying lmao. Like he just has to be the wildest detective in figuring out Kao’s relationship to Pete like damn boi calm down and stop being an ass.

I’m glad Kao told Pete he needs to trust him more because oh boy do I love Pete with my whole soul but this man needs to calm down and learn to trust and understand Kao

Sorta side note: I know Kao is scared of Pete knowing that he’s still tutoring Non but especially after that talk, I think homeboy needs to calm clean and just deal with the consequences

•and as soon as you walk out of your apartment to run some errands Chan would let himself in and set to work

•being the sentimental little shit he is, as soon as you walked into your apartment he’d have your guys song playing with rose petals leading to him and the romantic dinner he had ready for you

day6 in moscow

so the myths are, in fact, true. day6 are as sweet and handsome as the screens say, maybe a little better irl. it being my first concert, i wasn't sure what to expect, but i sure wasn't expecting that a concert could make everyone in the venue, including day6 themselves, happy. the local mydays here were absolutely hyped and we would jump at the chance to yell "DAY6" or "WE LOVE YOU" and we sang to all of their songs. seeing day6 proud of themselves, of us, as they performed on stage made every moment leading to the concert worth it.

anyway here's my favourite parts of day6 in moscow

- jae saying that moscow is like disneyland, but even better, and that he liked borscht a lot (other members: vigorous head nodding)

- jae going offstage to ask the translator how to say a local phrase

- BODY ROLLS. WONPIL AND SUNGJIN (and dowoon's!) BODY ROLLS.

- wonpil's cheekbones are carved by the gods. i could only see him from the screen from my place (sadly :/), but he's SO HANDSOME it transcends all expectations. the same goes for the other members, too! their visuals are so !!!!! that it took me like 5 minutes to process.

not only that, but wonpil manages a thin line btwn looking very Hot And Dangerous, and looking like an absolute bub. he's either glaring out into the crowd with a Dark Gaze or he's cutely bopping his head side-to-side. he's so adorable and i miss him so much and i hate how i couldn't see him face-to-face.

- dowoon is the ABSOLUTE CUTEST HUMAN BEING, periodt. when they're performing, he mouths along to the lyrics rly wide and it's so???? cute icb he's real. litcherally was thinking 'oh boy am i swerving tonight' as i watched him perform.

- sungjin!!!!! the loml!!!!!!!! his facial expressions were the funniest tbh, bc it changes so often during a song, but it's so endearing to see him express himself that way. within like, 30 seconds, he would go >:( to :o to :D to >:P to ^-^ and it was shufjsjd so cute uGh. his vocals are LEGENDARY btw. he doesn't improvise as much as the other members, BUT even the smallest change (like extending his notes in 나를 불러줘) can pull you off your feet. his singing is amazing and i'd listen to him sing irl every day if i could ;;

- youngk! an absolute KING of improvising! he's so expressive when he's performing (he throws his head back a lot) and the little glitters in his smiles made the entire 2-hour-waiting-in-the-freezing-cold queue worth it. he has a very strong stage presence tbh; though i couldn't see him well, he was in a world of his own and it's hard to look awayonce you see him. he's also the second hype man of the concert. (in russian, he would say "MAKE SOME NOIIIIISE" and the venue went crazy lol)

- jae, our first concert hype man, was very, very sweet and did most of the talking during the concert. he would say stuff like "you guys are amazing-- wait how do you say amazing--" (goes to translator to ask for the word) "--ah yes, (in russian) amazing!" and "moscow is like disneyland, except better" and "if you guys want, we can all come back here next year?" (mydays: AHHDKAHDJSJDHSJ YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS)

he also frequently went near to the fans (which was on my side of the venue!) and he was the first to hop off stage. thank you, jae, for reaching out and interacting with us and generally brightening the atmosphere. i miss you already :(

- jae and sungjin rly have a thing for doing a mini guitar face-off during their songs. it was adorable.

- during a short pause btwn a ment (?), dowoon played a jazzy rhythm on the drums and jae said "oh, dowoon's getting a little jazzy tonight"

- the local mydays actually wrote up an extra verse for 'letting go', which we planned to sing after the boys finished singing. except we were too caught up cheering at the end of the performance so no one did it....

- also, they made a banner for sungjin's birthday that said "happy birthday bob." during sungjin's ending ment, we all raised the banner and sungjin laughed, so he said "alright guys. let's sing it. 1, 2, 3" and we sang happy birthday to him!

- during hi touch, i managed to say "you did well" to all of the members and "happy birthday" to sungjin. they were all saying "spasiba" (thank you) to the fans and they were very warm as we high-fived each other.

it's now the next day and my throat hurts from yelling to all their songs, but it was a great experience and i'm so, so grateful to have the opportunity to see them last night. if you guys get the chance to go watch them perform, do it! listening to their vocals, watching them perform and enjoying each other's presence is worth it.
