In defense of the original, while I do agree the episodic vibes were a bit much at times, and it was something I kinda had to work my way through slowly rather than binging all in one...
I do kinda prefer the more gradual approach to laying out the information; getting to know both the setting and who Vash is as a person and the different facets of both, before getting the context that lets it all click into place. Plus the main quartet having ample time to grow together so that later developments have stronger emotional weight.
I will agree that Knives definitely suffered in focus, and I am interested in how Stampede handles him, but admittedly he wasn't really what I watched Trigun for in the first place. ^^;
yeah my gripe is less with the way the setting and characters were handled and more with the way the. actual plot was handled. it honest to god felt to me like they realized about halfway through their run that they didnt have enough episodes left to get the backstory in in a cohesive way so they just shoved it all into one episode and pretended that that explanation didn't create more questions than it answered. you spend 20 episodes teasing your audience like "ooooh what is vash?? clearly hes not human!! clearly there's something going on!!! don't you want to know whats going on?? keep watching and you'll totally understand whats going on!!" and then your big reveal is that. He Is Not Human. which is something that any idiot who has watched the last 20 episodes has already figured out. the question the audience ACTUALLY has at that point in the runtime is what, EXACTLY, is vash, and what the context is behind the conflict he and knives are in. the backstory episode explains that Knives Is Here, and it gives context to the setting and everything, but it pissed me off that it STILL didn't answer the actual mysteries i cared about, i.e. vash's real identity and the thing with the gun and his fucking arm and knives's motivations and everything. maybe that gets answered in the last episode that i neglected to watch but personally I prefer a story where i UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON by the time the final confrontation hits. with trigun it got to a point where vash was going out for the final battle with knives and i STILL didn't know who vash was, who knives was, where they came from, or what the hell their motivations were. that just made that final confrontation seem so wholly uninteresting to me that i didn't even feel like watching it. it was like "hey look vash is fighting a cardboard cutout that he is Afraid Of. Why? lmao idk man. probably has something to do with that weird spaceship that shows up in one whole episode before this point. not going to tell you how tho." I think some writers have this tendency to think that mystery = good writing and that not revealing anything to your audience will consistently draw them in for more, but that only works for so long. after 20 episodes of virtually net 0 information it got to feel like I was being strung along and like my questions were never going to be answered, so I gave up on the show in the final hour. Again, i'm not saying it was BAD necessarily and i understand the context in terms of writing and production that led to the show being produced that way but i think it really noticeably suffers due to the fact that it refuses to give the audience ANYTHING but crumbs of information for about 80% of it's runtime. that being said. i did genuinely like a lot of it. it has its moments. im not trying to discourage anyone from watching it or anything lol i just think stampede is a little more successful in keeping the viewer engaged in the story throughout by constantly feeding you bits of information and actually answering your questions as they become plot-relevant.

My personal interpretation of Snowman is that even though she was exiled, there’s still a certain royalty to her. She’s the universe. She’s the most important thing to exist. In a way it’s even greater than when she was Queen, because she was only second to the king. Now she’s second to no one.
She’s vain and ruthless and doesn’t take shit from people, but she also craves some sort of connection. She spent her entire existence living for her kingdom and subjects, now she just needs to stay alive until Lord English orders her to die. Until then, she doesn’t really have a use in a larger scale. It feels lonely at the top.
Yes, she’s a terrible person, but she still wishes for some sense of normalcy instead of just waiting for the moment she will be murdered by her kismesis, who might also be the only true connection she has.
But the people who know her (if there is anyone) get to see parts of her others never do. They get to see her smile and see her being silly and goofy, which is something she never shows to the common folk. The people who get close to her get to know her like no one else does, including the parts she locked away to make her destiny less painful. No use building up hope if she’s going to die.
She’s someone with flaws and who is probably terrible in a lot of ways, but still has the want for normalcy and connection most people do. She was just the one cursed with never being able to have it.

So my mun promised some concept art during the event intermission, despite knowing that they'd have THIRTEEN different things going on. Well, here is some of it. Explanation under the read more.
The first one is a close up of my outfit from the saga. The mask was based on the Dreepy line, with the little side wings and big eyes. The chevron of my poncho mimics the markings on a Dragapult. That's right; it's a poncho. Why? Something about "preserving my general body shape." IDK I just work here.
I also had a sick pole lantern that went unused. There wasn't any good way to use or mention it, really. Maybe it'll come back someday. Put a tiny Litwick in there.
The left is a concept sketch of me surfing on Sterling. That concept was based off of the Tour de Alto Mare scene from Movie 5 (Pokemon Heroes). That wasn't FUN, by the way, I almost FELL OFF and DROWNED. TWICE.
That's all they had for now. Though, the mun did mention that they'd have some stuff for the new event soon. Watch out for that.

As the welcoming party seems to come to a close, the Pokemon were left to have a quiet moment. A moment that felt.. empty. Nothing to force a particular direction.
"Uh… What do we do now?" Wesn was the first to break the silence, before it started again. It took even longer for someone else to speak up, this time Shadow.
"Well.. Can't we do whatever we want?"
"Even with that… Do you have an idea what to do?" Hope queried.
"I… Don't."
This was getting frustrating, Neo-Ka had to hold back a grumble as she approached the wood and metal coffee table. It didn't seem like they'll actually move unless she does something.
"Ugh. Okay. First. We're establishing food and water locations. We got a tree of apples. There's a nearby lake of water that's also clean. Since that's established, we got recon left."
"Eh?"
"What..?"
"Huh???"
"Recon. Like. We get an idea of where we're livin' at. We're gonna be in trouble if I'm the one knowin' everything here."
"Er… Alright." Regardless of what Hope thought, one didn't have any better ideas. "But would it really be the best idea to stay in one group…?"
"Yeah, no." Neo-Ka replied, "There's a bunch of humans out 'ere, we're gonna look like we're gonna cause trouble with that many."
"Hmmm… But we can't do it by ourselves, right?" Shadow asked in return.
Wesn had an idea, and jumped to the chance to contribute. "Then… What about a buddy system? That way we don't have to go by ourselves!"
"… That might be the best compromise." Hope commented. "There were enough pairs that the labcoats didn't seem to notice."
"We can do that!" Shadow cheerily agreed, while Neo-Ka accepted with a quiet nod. "So who's with who?"
That's when everyone sunk back into quietly staring, not moving for at least a couple minutes. That kind of question felt like a possible landmine if they decided themselves. They might need help.

<-- wants to come back, but probably still wouldn’t post that often... maybe once a week...?
Do people care if posts are slow nowadays? My brain says “if you don’t post often, people will get tired of the thread” but maybe my brain made it up?
