   The house is quiet today.

    Eros lounges happily tucked away in the reading room on their house as his family mills around the rest of it. Absorbed in a book, he can distantly hear the chatter of his twins a few rooms over and his wife humming something in the kitchen. It’s days like today that the god thinks this must be what it’s like to have not a care in the world; his family is at peace, he’s cozy and the book is wonderfully gripping!

   So wrapped in his ease is he that when his wife enters he greets her with the softest of sleepy smiles. “Happy Lunar New Year my love, what will we do today?”

   Around town there have been beautiful decorations and amazing talent displays and each and every indulgence he could take his family to, Eros did. Today though, his thoughts turn a bit to resting and so enthralled with that notion is the love god, that he nearly forgets that his own feast day (and a day that mortals celebrate worldwide) is coming up fast. Drowsy and happy he lifts his arms from within the heavy blanket he’s relaxing under in the chair toward his wife. “Would you like to cuddle?”

Mun Note: Eros’ feast day is, of course, Valentine’s Day. I have written this a little ahead of the date for the sake of comfort and ease for me as that is also my bday.

Amaterasu knew precisely what she wanted the moment she got home. With everything that was happening and the constant state of anxiety Amaterasu was in, she was tighter than a wound up spring. So much so that temperatures would rise abruptly more often than not. It was a wonder she wasn’t issued a memo from the others of the council.

But seeing Eros at home, looking as gorgeous as ever and waiting for her---that had been almost enough for the sun goddess to stop worrying for the moment. Because Eros was home, and love, and life. She had started to return his greeting with her own when she noticed that despite the familiarity of his soul, that handsome vessel on their couch was very much new.

And so she had pulled him close, far too eagerly as she normally would have done, and kissed him soundly. Her own fingers tracing up those cheekbones, a thrill dancing down her spine at the smell of chocolate...he always smelled good, but today he smelled even better.

She went with his tug easily, purring almost against him as she settled in his lap, unhooking heels on the way. She reaches for that spot down his shoulders and back, and her smile against his lips was triumphant as those beautiful wings flashed into view. Amaterasu pulls back a bit, not nearly satiated, but wanting to pause, just to bask in the sight of her husband.

She settles on this new but not new lap, already feeling the heady desire settling in and making no efforts to staunch it. Later, she would talk about it later, as she knew he would listen and provide counsel, but not now.

“Have I ever told you,” Her words coming out in a husky tone as she watches the light catch on those golden wings of his and her fingers ached to touch them. “That you are the very best of husbands?” Her smile was tender and loving despite the desire already making her eyes glow. She leaned forward to press another kiss against his lips, gentle, and exploring, even as her fingers danced up to trace one idle feather.

--- ¹ Chenmen is a Fudanjuku-coined portmanteau of “change” and “men” and used to describe people who aren’t men dressing up in men’s clothing and “changing” into men. Since I’m unfamiliar with the full nuances of the term, I’ve opted to leave the word precisely as is.

² This is literally just “I’ll absolutely protect you!”, but the language used is really, really rough. I therefore altered the line a little to try to convey that.

³ OSAKAN DIALECT, AHHHHHHHHH. I translated this literally (because I suck at Osakan accents), but it’s totally an Osakan accent, jsyk.

Covid-19 chưa thay đổi đáng kể chuỗi cung ứng toàn cầu

Sự thiếu chắc chắn, rào cản về chi phí và các lệnh hạn chế trong đại dịch khiến nhiều doanh nghiệp chưa thể thay đổi chuỗi cung ứng.

Đại dịch đã phá hủy chuỗi cung ứng khổng lồ của thế giới trong nhiều tháng, khiến các nhà máy phải đóng cửa, làm gián đoạn việc vận chuyển và gây khó khăn cho các công ty muốn đưa sản phẩm đến tay người tiêu dùng. Nhiều công ty đang cân nhắc thay đổi chuỗi cung ứng để tránh tình trạng khan hiếm hàng hóa và chậm trễ trong vận chuyển. Một số xem xét chuyển sản xuất về gần quê nhà hơn. Số khác khác thì tính xây các nhà máy nhỏ trên khắp thế giới, thay vì đặt tất cả sản xuất ở một nơi.

Đến nay, có rất ít bằng chứng cho thấy chuỗi cung ứng đã có sự thay đổi lớn, do rào cản về chi phí và sự thiếu chắc chắn. Nhiều công ty đang thảo luận về ý tưởng "khu vực hóa". Tức là tìm nguồn cung hoặc lập nhà máy ở nhiều nơi trên thế giới. Sau đó, các cụm sản xuất của từng khu vực sẽ cung cấp cho khách hàng ở những thị trường gần nhất. Vì thế, nếu một nhà máy đóng cửa ở một nơi, nó sẽ chỉ ảnh hưởng đến doanh số ở vài thị trường lân cận, thay vì tác động đến cả những nơi khác.

Các công ty khác thì xem xét mở rộng nhiều hơn ở trong nước, đưa hoạt động sản xuất trở lại quê nhà.

Nhiều CEO từng thực hiện các ý tưởng trên cho rằng chúng quá tốn kém và không hiệu quả. Tuy nhiên, cuộc chiến thương mại Mỹ - Trung đã khiến nhiều công ty lo ngại với việc tập trung quá nhiều sản xuất vào một nơi - thường là châu Á - để giữ chi phí thấp. Sự gián đoạn từ đại dịch càng khiến họ thận trọng.

"Mô hình cho sản xuất và chế tạo đã được thiết lập ổn định trong 20 năm qua", Christian Lanng - đồng sáng lập kiêm CEO Tradeshift Network bình luận, "Covid-19 và chiến tranh thương mại đang khiến bàn cờ này xáo trộn. Mọi người đang cố gắng nghĩ xem giờ có thể đặt các quân cờ ở đâu".

Một khảo sát tháng 5 của Viện Quản lý Cung ứng (Mỹ) cho thấy gần một phần tư doanh nghiệp đang lên kế hoạch hoặc đã bắt đầu chuyển hoạt động về gần quê nhà. Cùng tháng đó, 93% CEO cho biết với McKinsey & Co rằng sẽ xem xét khả năng đại tu chuỗi cung ứng.

Branch Furniture, một công ty khởi nghiệp về đồ nội thất văn phòng ở New York, gần đây đã làm việc với hai nhà sản xuất ở California để tung ra dòng sản phẩm tấm và vách ngăn mới. Đồng sáng lập Branch Furniture Verity Sylvester cho biết phần lớn đồ nội thất khác của Branch vẫn được sản xuất tại Trung Quốc. Tuy nhiên, bà quyết định tăng sản xuất trong nước vì không thể đến Trung Quốc để xem mẫu và giám sát như trước. "Tôi cũng muốn có một số sản phẩm làm tại Mỹ", bà nói thêm.

Tuy nhiên, nhiều công ty vẫn do dự, đặc biệt là khi sự gián đoạn ban đầu đã giảm bớt và thương mại toàn cầu đã phục hồi. Việc thiết lập chuỗi cung ứng mới rất tốn kém, còn nhu cầu duy trì sản xuất ở các nước có chi phí thấp lại quá lớn.

Carter McNabb - chuyên gia tại hãng tư vấn GRA Supply Chain cho biết đại dịch "dường như không phải là yếu tố thay đổi nền tảng trong cách thức vận hành chuỗi cung ứng. Nhưng nó chắc chắn đã tạo ra một khoảng dừng để các doanh nghiệp xem xét nhiều hơn về rủi ro và khả năng phục hồi".

Nhiều người cũng nhận ra việc đa dạng hóa khỏi Trung Quốc rất khó khăn. Các nhà máy tại đây đã nhanh chóng mở cửa trở lại, trong khi các nước khác vẫn đang vật lộn kiểm soát Covid-19.

Theo phân tích gần đây của S&P Global Ratings, thị phần hàng hóa xuất khẩu của Trung Quốc ở châu Á - Thái Bình Dương vẫn ổn định ở hầu hết nhóm sản phẩm chính, giảm nhẹ ở thiết bị văn phòng và máy tính nhưng tăng ở các danh mục như thiết bị vận tải và máy móc điện. Nhìn chung, xuất khẩu phi nhiên liệu của Châu Á - Thái Bình Dương đã cao hơn hoặc tiến gần mức trước Covid-19 và trước chiến tranh thương mại. Điều này cho thấy chưa có bất kỳ sự thay đổi lớn nào trong chuỗi cung ứng.

Having successfully manufactured the world’s first AM jet engine, Australia’s Amaero Engineering challenged PhD Engineering students at Monash University to design a rocket engine which made full use of the geometric complexity made possible by 3D printing. Graham Bell, Project Lead, stated, “We were able to focus on the features that boost the engine’s performance, including the nozzle geometry and the embedded cooling network. These are normally balanced against the need to consider how on earth someone is going to manufacture such a complex piece of equipment. Not so with Additive Manufacturing.”

The resulting rocket engine is a complex multi-chamber aerospike design. According to Martin Jurg, an engineer with Amaero, this geometry offers some unique advantages compared to more conventional designs. “Traditional bell-shaped rockets, as seen on the Space Shuttle, work at peak efficiency at ground level. As they climb the flame spreads out reducing thrust. The aerospike design maintains its efficiency but is very hard to build using traditional technology. Using Additive Manufacturing we can create complex designs, print them, test them, tweak them, and reprint them in days instead of months.”

They’d had their time to meet and mingle with friends.

    They’d had their time to frolic and fawn through the performances, dark delights and tasty treats.

And he could let her run wild for a little longer

        But Eros’ got a game to play and the main player is his wife. 

   It doesn’t take long for him to spot her among the crowd of onlookers of one of the human sideshow performances. There in the crowd he can see her long dark hair standing out with a pretty golden clip that he fastened there before they left. The diamonds on it catch the glow of late night lighting and draw his gaze to her. She’s so pretty— and so unaware that it’s time to start a carnival of different delights.

   Smoothly Eros blends himself into the crowd as well but stays on the outskirts of it still. Just enough to see her reaction as he pulls out his phone to type up a text to her. It’s short and quick but she’ll know the chase is on for the night.

Married life it turns out was not so different from any other life. Granted, the sun goddess knew she was extremely lucky and blessed to be with somebody as wonderful as her husband (the name still gave her a hum of pleasure), she was also quite relieved everything still somewhat remained the same between them. 

It was quaint in its domesticity, Eros and she lounging in contented bliss on the couch, both pretending to actually pay attention to the TV. Amaterasu knew that days like these were rare for both of them, so many people demanded of their time. So it was nice, to just be in this moment, absolutely responsible for nothing in particular.

She smiles, one of those gentle ones she reserved just for him as she eased herself back unto the couch, limbs gracefully draping over his. “The last time we did this, there was very little melting my love.” The smile turned mischievous even as she cuddled close, fingers tracing promises on his skin.

    The children join him, one on each side of their father, and wait as the door to their home opens finally. There she is! Eros’ chest swells with pride at the sight of her before he clears his throat and the three of them bend in a proper bow to the goddess.

   “Honor your moth—“ but he’s already being crushed into a hug fragrant with sunshine and the flowers that get a little smashed between them before his wife is bending to collect eager hugs from the kids. Cordelia and Evander bring themselves into her waiting arms and plaster her face with kisses, a burble of excited chatter leaving them. That wasn’t the plan! How could he possibly be upset though as he watches them embrace?

   “Welcome home darling,” he says sweetly before the twins release their hold and run to the table that they’ve prepared. “Your children and I present..”

    He steps fully aside, the expanse of their efforts long the table and the smells of food and incense heavy. “Your feast day.”

She was getting married! Amaterasu hummed with glee as she adjusted the cheap looking veil and crown atop her head. Blair and the rest of her bridesmaids had convinced her that it was tradition for a bride-to-be to at least go out and have drinks. That spending an evening in an onsen was not a typical itinerary for a bachelorette party. Amaterasu had agreed to go out only after the dip at the hotspring. So here they were.

The third bar for the night consisted of Amaterasu and the girls only drinking gold drinks, whatever that exactly meant, and she was having a good time. The island after all was relatively safe, and most people knew her, so she was basking in the congratulations, even as the other girls kept getting refills.

By the time they reached the fourth bar, there was a rather rowdy game of truth or dare happening between them, the latest dare was going up at the small stage and singing a song. Amaterasu was such in a fit of giggles that she didn't see the party behind her, and accidentally bumping into their guest of honor.

"Oops," She said apologetically, still giggling breathlessly. "I'm so sorry---" she stopped short when she realized that she had bumped into a rather gorgeous specimen indeed. Cheeks tinged in both a blush and perhaps the alcohol beginning to affect her, she gave a tiny wave and adjusted the cheap bride veil on her head. "Can I buy a drink to apologize?"
