-End of the year review-

Thank you for the tag @kitaychan! I was already thinking about making an end of the year/new year post but now this is the perfect opportunity :D

1. What fandoms did you create for?

I only created stuff for Hetalia this year :)

2. How many works did you make this year? Fics (posted on ao3 or tumblr or wherever), edits, gifsets, moodboards, playlists, fanart, vids, meta?

I recently collected all the drabbles from my nsfw account in a google doc and that alone is overwhelming.. I posted 8 fics on ao3, a total of 21 drabbles on tumblr (on this blog and @fireandspiceland), I made 2 playlists on spotify (but didn't make posts for them) and 2 moodboards! Oh and I cosplayed as Norway and Kugelmugel (but I only posted one edit of me as Nor).

3. What are you most proud of?

There's a lot of things I'm proud of! I'll try to name a few:

I actually kept up with writing for more than 6 months now :D I tend to start hobbies but not keep up with them on long term, so this is kinda big for me.

I went out of my comfort zone a LOT this year. Posting the things I write, joining discord servers and actually talking to the people there, and making friends both there and here on tumblr! You might think I'm an outgoing person, but I always put off posting my fics out of fear of critisism and it's not that easy for me to make the first step and ask someone for their discord or message them.

I started creating my own universe with it's own laws for my fic How'd I ever get so lost? It's my first 'big' project with multiple chapters that are telling one connected story and there's some world building involved that I invested a lot of thought into.

4. Any stats you wanna tell us about?

Here's some numbers I guess! I only had this blog for 8 month, I recently reached 200 followers, and my most popular work on ao3 is about to have 500 hits. ^-^

5. What inspired you this year? Any specific works or creators?

Almost everything I created last year was inspired by a song from one of the playlists I made or by other people's art or AUs.. I also had some very inspiring and interesting talks with mutuals and then there's the requests I get! The sheer amount of content that there is in this fandom and that people keep creating is firing my own imagination and without it I wouldn't be able to create the things I did and do. Tagging everone would go beyond the scope, but my biggest inspirations this year were..

@breitzbachbea who is always ready to support my with her historical knowledge and do some brainstorming on discord <3 from our talks I learned a lot about topics I never knew I would be interested in!

@plz-let-me-nap and her SuFin blog! Our talks inspired some great AU's (that I still haven't made posts about) and simping for the nordics is a lot more fun as a group activity <3

@kitaychan with her amazing writing style and stories that leave you begging for the next chapter. Her thoughtful comments had/have a big influence on How'd I ever get so lost? <3

@modernday-jay who introduced me to mint chocolate (my beloved) <3 and is always giving me food for thought with his posts and his characterisation of Allen.

@ironicorange with his stalker Alfred AU and @neon-spirals with his Arthur and his tentacle boyfriend AU. I just had to mention these two because I love these AU's and it's amazing to be able to contribute something to them <3

6. What’s a piece you didn’t expect to make? Why?

Every single drabble on @fireandspiceland! If half a year ago you told me I would be fullfilling requests for nsfw drabbles, I would have thought you were insane.

7. What are you excited to work on next year?

Well it's this year now, but I'm looking forward to continuing the demon Arthur AU! I have lots of ideas for it and can't wait to flesh them out more. What I also want to do is get more into the teenage dirtbag AU and the bible camp AU. I love both of them dearly and I think there's lots of dynamics between the characters to explore in the future.

Hello! I recently finished Honor the Words and loved it!! I'm not quite sure of where to start, so here are some random comments and questions, in no particular order (many spoilers below):

1. Why didn't Toshiaki take Basho in the room with them when he was planning to kill Masaomi (in the lines from "Perhaps Basho and Hitokiri should stay outside" to "Fine then")? I was mainly confused about the fact that Toshiaki says Basho is "better groomed" in response to Masaomi's "Basho goes everywhere with you." It makes sense that he wouldn't want a very unkempt "Hitokiri" inside for various reasons, but then he doesn't really put up any resistance when Masaomi insists on taking Youji in. Since Hitokiri went in, wouldn't it make sense to also bring Basho? Or was Toshiaki just confident that he'd succeed in killing Masaomi regardless of the two bulgae?

2. I loved how parts of the MasaYou plot were conserved!! Masaomi and Youji getting to know each other has been absolutely adorable because Masaomi is so out of depth in some of these situations and he just keeps getting saved by Youji. (And this is really looking like a slow burn, I love it.) Can't wait to see the process of them growing closer—not only MasaYou, but the whole crew :)

3. On that note, it's looking like Masami + Youji and Hinami + Shiori at the moment, which is beautiful especially because we didn't get to see much of the latter in D:M. A living Shiori makes everything better. When I first read Shine the Brightest, it was interesting to have Shiori + Masaomi be the ones who knew each other already, because that changed their dynamic; Masaomi doesn't go through the whole "who is this person and how is she so fascinating" stage on-screen (or, at least not yet). I particularly like how Shiori gets—and stays—angry at him in Honor the Words. There's also a lot less of Youji's crush on/obsession with Hinami thus far, so I'm curious as to how things will unfold in the Masaomi + Shiori / Hinami + Youji direction. Is it going to be an OT4 this time, or two pairs? (Please ignore that question if it'd be a huge spoiler.)

4. Kyouhei's dialogue was highly entertaining to read; his word choices were so hilariously absurd. Was it difficult to write?

5. I love the cover! Thank you for the kind mention, it was a very pleasant surprise :D I'm looking forward to cover art of Youji's true form! And Shiori's!

6. I just saw the previous ask and OMG YES there's going to be more books! Hopefully many more books, I will buy all the books!!!

SO SPOILERS AHEAD! And under the cut.

1) Basho was in the room! Youji kills him too. It's pretty quick and easy to miss though, so sorry that was unclear! Toshiaki initially proposed Basho and Youji stay outside because he thought Masaomi would be suspicious if he said only Youji should stay behind. But since he thought it would be suspicious if he insisted, he also trusted that a) Basho would beat Youji, if necessary, because Basho was a pretty powerful fire dog and b) that Youji wouldn't actually want to help Masaomi. The Shiroryu's were pretty sure a fire dog would not feel loyal to Masaomi =)

2) Thank you! I really didn't want to just write the same story all over again, but I also wanted elements to be similar. And oh gosh this is turning out to be SUCH A SLOW BURN. So buckle up for a long ride here with everyone =)

3) You will find out! Hopefully. Hopefully I get to write all the books I would like to write for this. But since that is a huge spoiler, I will hold off on answering for now.

4) HIS DIALOGUE WAS SO HARD TO WRITE. I'm not even sure I did it justice. It required much use of a thesaurus.

5) Thanks again for connecting me to the cover artist!! I'm very happy with how it turned out.

6) I am so glad other people are interested in reading other books. Seriously, I cannot stress how much my interest in writing other books is directly correlated to reader feedback, so thank you so much. These asks have really helped motivate me in finishing book three!

2020 Creator Wrap: Favorite Works

I was tagged by the lovely @irolltwenties!

Rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 (or so) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought to the world in 2020. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!

2020 was a hell year but I dealt with it by hyperfixating, mostly on Batboys and their very patient boyfriends. According to AO3 I’ve written 20 fics and 271K this year, although I have several WIPs on the go (one which is already 31K) so I definitely wrote over 300K total. Which. Um. Wow. (Plus 21K of a novel for the first time in ages.) Anyway I’m pretty pleased about that part of it, if nothing else in 2020.

Here are some of my favorites:

1. It Wouldn’t Be Make Believe (If You Believed In Me)

When Damian traces the source of a lethal new party drug to Metropolis University, it only makes sense to go undercover as a student to ferret out the culprits. He doesn't expect to run into Met U student Jon Kent, and he definitely doesn't expect to get mistaken for Jon's boyfriend. But hey, what harm could it do to play along?

This is going to get complicated fast.

Y’all know I love a fake dating fic, and I am so, so proud of this one. Jon and Damian have such distinct voices and switching back and forth between them was a ton of fun. I need to write more romcoms with these two, they deserve it.

2. Like the Wind Needs the Trees

It's been a couple years since Jason's seen Roy. He's not prepared for Roy to suddenly have a daughter.

He's even less prepared for how that makes him feel.

This was my first time writing Jason or JayRoy and I’m thrilled with how it came out. I think this Jason is voicier than my later ones, like I was trying a bit harder the first time, and I want to try to recapture that going forward. Plus I got to write the Arrowfamily being their loud beautiful selves, and the showdown between Jason and Ollie might be my favorite scene I’ve written all year.

3. I’ve Got the Feeling You’re the Right Thing After All

Roy Harper adores, resents, and envies Dick Grayson in equal measure. The only one who understands is Dick's brother Jason, which is part of why he and Jason get along so well. So when Roy and Jason fall into bed together, there's no reason for them to stop getting along. Roy can balance his friendship with Jason, his feelings for Dick, and the rising threat of a shadowy figure in Gotham's underworld without anyone getting hurt. Right?

This is the dynamic I wanted to write before I even really shipped JayRoy - the complicated, loving, resentful triangulation between Jason, Roy, and Dick, and the fallout when that goes wrong. It’s always nice when the idea you had in your head is basically what comes out on the page. Plus I’m very happy with the sex scenes in this one. ;)

4. Things My Heart Used to Know

Jason Todd, Bruce Wayne's beloved adopted son, was kidnapped when he was fifteen. He was never found.

Six years later, Roy Harper runs across a very familiar face, three thousand miles from Gotham. "Jay" has no last name, no memory, and no reason to believe he's a potential heir to Gotham's largest fortune. But with Bruce Wayne offering a five million dollar reward to anyone who can bring his son home, Roy and Jay figure it might be worth teaming up to claim the money, even if Jay is only a fraud.

Of course, if he's not a fraud, then things have just gotten a lot more complicated...

Anastasia is one of my favorite movies so this was super fun to write. This one surprised me - I didn’t expect Roy’s issues to come to the fore so prominently. I don’t tend to be the kind of writer who lets the characters take me where they may, so it’s always interesting when they do it anyway.

5. Some Cupid Kills With Arrows

Roy has been dead for a little over a year, and Jason isn't anywhere close to coping with his loss. Then Roy's ex, Cheshire, comes to Jason with shocking news and a plea for his help. As if that wasn't enough, there's a new assassin on the scene, and he's targeting archers. Jason couldn't save Roy, but maybe he can save Roy's family - and maybe there's more to this mysterious assassin than meets the eye.

I love writing epic action fics but I usually don’t because it’s not what fandom often seems to want? But I wanted to write fix-it fic and I wanted to write lots of Arrows and Bats and I wanted to write dumb pining Jason (again) so I did it anyway and I’m very glad I did. :D

NJPW Dominion Review:

saturday june 9th, from the Osaka Jo Hall in Osaka)

IGWP Jr Tag Team Championship: Roppongi3K vs El Desperado&Kanemaru:[***]

Fun little match to start the night off, maybe a little too much shenenigans on the final stretch but at least it was enjoyable. Probably the best match from the champs in quite a few months at least since they won the titles and here in dominion they kept the titles, thanks to some of their sneaky heel tattics. I wish Roppongi3K could regain the titles but they are still very young so they will have more opportunities in the future. Wonder who will be the next challengers for Kanemaru and Despy if their feud with the Chaos member is over.

Winners and still IGWP Jr Tag Team Champions: Kanemaru&El Desperado

Juice Robinson&David Finlay vs Jay White&Yoshi Hashi:[**3/4]

The match was ok and it was mainly done to develop the feud between White and Robinson and keep their title match probably for the G1 special in the US, rather than have this match on a quite stacked card like today's one. The final stretch was the best part of the match as Finlay went for the stunner on Yashi, Blade runner from White on Finlay and then Juice capitalised with a big left punch followed by his Pulp friction for the win. I think it's time for Juice to win something in New Japan as he improved so much after he got with the company and the US could be a good start, while Switchblade could move and try to capture the Never Openweight title or the IC Title, since they are more important than the US title.

Winner: Juice Robinson&David Finlay

Minoru Suzuki&Zack Sabre Jr vs Tomohiro Ishii vs Toru Yano:[**3/4]

I wasn't expecting much from this match as it was marely a filler but in some parts it was actually fun: Ishii and Suzuki trading shots was cool as heel and the finish was nice too as Zack blocked with his tights the lowblow from Yano and then trapped him in one of his submissions and made him tap. Actually the post match was better than the match itself as Ishii went after Minoru and they beat the living crap out of each other as i feel they will have a big match during the G1. And speaking of G1, Sabre Jr could actually be an interesting outsider for the victory of the tournament.

Winners: Minoru Suzuki and Zack Sabre Jr

Never Openweight Title: Taichi vs Michael Elgin vs Hiroki Goto:[***1/4]

First title change of the night as Elgin captures the Never Openweight title for the first time in his career. The match was solid and well booked: Elgin-Goto trying to keeping the match between themselves, Taichi doing sneaky things and using Miho (Miho marry me) at his advantage but for me Elgin winning the title wasnt't a good idea. While i'm happy Goto lost because it was time to have a new champ, i also thought it could have been the right moment to have push Taichi after he got better since he moved in the heavyweight division. Elgin is a good wrestler but it would have been cool for New Japan to believe in a young wrestler for once but i guess they don't want to waste him yet or probably the have better plans for him.

Winner AND NEW Never Openweight Champion: Michael Elgin

IWGP tag Team Championship: Young Bucks vs EVIL&Sanada:[****1/4]

My god what a stunning match from these two team. Finally NJPW delivers a great tag team match since the Bucks-Golden Lovers showdown at SSE. I loved how they booked it and the spots were really cool: the indy taker from the champs, the sharpshooter from Matt and Sanada applying the skull head...the first sick double superkick from the bucks on EVIL and the one in mid air. Storytelling wise it was great too and it's something where the Bucks got so much better and finally they are proving everyone that they are not just superkicks and flips: Nick selling the injury was cool as hell especially when he couldn't do the springboard that leads to the indytaker and for once it wasn't Matt the one who was injuried for the whole match. Also, as Kevin Kelly said in the post match, Bucks had a big weight and size disadvantage and them overcaming the odds is a cool storyline to tell. Bucks winning the title was the right move as Sanada&Evil's title reign wasn't remarkable and they needed to send a message that they still want to have the very best also for the tag team division. The Bucks will indeed bring back some buzz around the division and probably deliver another great match with the LIDJ guys in the rematch they will have in the next months.

Winners AND NEW IWGP Tag Team Champions: Young Bucks

Jushin Thunder Liger, Hiroshi Tanahashi& Rey Mysterio vs Cody, Hangan Page and Marty Scurll:[***]

Another kinda filler match even tho you can't really say it's a filler when you have so many great talents in the same ring. Mysterio looked great and at the moment he could be a great pick for any promotion in the world because of his talent and star power. The match was fine, nothing really remarkable but a good win for the Bullet Club, especially for Cody who is at the moment my #1 pick to win the G1 if he will be part of any of the two blocks

Winners: Cody, Marty Scurll&Adam Page

IGWP Jr Heavyweight Championship: Hiromu Takahashi vs Will Ospreay:[****1/2]

And the Juniors deliver another fucking awesome match, after a great BOTSJ with a stellar final between Ishimori and Takahashi(unfortunately i couldn't do a proper review because of the lack of time). This match was nuts and also told a really great story, as i never saw Ospreay showing a more nasty and sadistic side as he wanted desperately to win and defeat Takahashi. The crowd was super behind Hiromu who gained lots of support from the fans in the last couple of months and even more after his tournament run and victory...and he also gained back Mr. Belt as he deafeted a banged up Ospreay who probably might take some time off to heal as his neck isn't at 100% after the last couple of matches(the one with Scurll was nasty for his neck). CHAOS members keep the losing streak alive as they are 0-4 in Osaka. Storytelling was at his best as they really made sure both looked great and both did their best during this encounter, the result tho is a little surprising for me because i thought they wanted to go for Ospreay-Ishimori in the next months but probably now it will be a rematch from the tournament final. Another amazing match from the Jr Heavyweight division.

Winner AND NEW IGWP Jr Heavyweight Champion: Hiromu Takahashi

IWGP IC Championship: Chris Jericho vs Tetsuya Naito:[****]

Here it is the biggest upset of the night...Chris Jericho beat Naito and won the IC Title! Nobody and i mean nobody thought Jericho could win the belt. The match was good, pre-match was very nasty and very good as Jericho went totally heel and this helped a lot his character and the rest of the match, with Naito who tried a standard babyface comeback after being banged up (that cut under the eye must have hurt quite a bit). Finish was fine even tho it could have been a lot better. Jericho winning the titles now makes a lot of us wonder: will he stay longer with the company and maybe work more shows or just the big ones?. That's so sick, because having jericho on your side helps a lot and it could give us so many good possibilities and matches we never saw. Not sure that Jericho will last long as the IC Champ, but still it's so cool as heel to see him as a champion in NJPW. That's a really good surprise. And it's kinda funny it took Jericho less time to win the IC title in NJPW rather than being a ten time IC Champion in WWE...and on a less important note, jericho still has Judas as his NJPW theme <3 (i'm a big wrestling theme song fun and maybe i'll bring something, theme wise, on the blog)

Winner AND NEW IWGP IC Champion: Chris Jericho

2 out of 3 falls IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada:[*****]

O H M Y G O D W H A T A M A T C H....HE HAS FUCKING DONE IT! Ok i'll stop marking out...so for all those people concerned about this match, it was simply perfect. P E R F E C T. Crowd very into the match, commentary on point (god praise Callis and Kelly), Wrestling perfect, storytelling incredible, booking perfect. I was concerned they would do some BS on the finish but they didn't. And i was also concerned that Omega would lose because all the other CHAOS members won and Okada had not yet hit the rainmaker after the first fall, who came after almost 50 minutes with a sunset flip..and then two straight and clean falls for Omega who ended the impressive title reign of Okada, probably one of the best in the history of wrestling, because i cant remember a champion that had so many great title defenses during his reign. It was the perfect way and match to end his title reign and the best way to make Omega won the title for the first time. Post match was very emotional because we were all waiting for a big hug between Kenny and the Bucks (and Kota too). I recommend everyone watching this match, even tho it last 69 minutes and sometimes it's hard to find some time to watch the shows because of our busy lives, but trust me, you won't regret it and for sure you won't ask yourself why you spent this much time watching a match. It was perfect, it was what wrestling really is, it was what made me start watching wrestling. Today not only Omega won, but we all won and most importantly wrestling won...and fuck those people who really love to bash this beautiful piece of art.

Winner AND NEW IWGP Heavyweight Champion: Kenny Omega

Overall: A great show that delivered from the start to the finish. A show that had great wrestling, great moments, drama, emotions, just had everything. Perfect show? Maybe not, but amazing in every aspect. At the moment, best show of the year for me and it won't be really easy to top such a beauty of an event. [9]
