(there will still be a post tomorrow to keep on track)#The original 3 panel comic idea was fine but the point of this new schedule was to take time to push myself a bit more.#I was taking a look back through some comic artists I felt inspired by #and I really loved how Lynda Barry fills her gutters with patterns and doodles!#Obviously I'm not going as absolutely wild with it as she does but it was a great exercise!#I truly think the gutters are the most important and most overlooked part of any comic. There's lots going on in that space.#It's the same with timeskips. The implied movement between moments that we don't see changes depending on how wide that gap is #You're here for the funny tags so here's some that ties this time talk together:#I think LWJ was thinking about that second note from day 2 but it took him 7 days of hazing to commit it to paper.#I think he sends it a day later and immediately regrets it. Chasing down the messenger and everything.#You know if something actually happened to his brother he would never ever forgive himself for putting the bad vibes out there.#Third time skip was the hardest because there was so many possible flavours of jokes here. Day 8/9 was a personal favourite.#day 14 was also funny (week by week). I think the debate on 'how long does lwj take to catch feelings' is more or less:#'how long does it take for him to arrive at a particular stage of grief and yearning (and awareness of it all)#This is a symphony. There is an act by act structure. Every day he is fighting to keep his old sensibilities. He is losing so badly.#(I'll be returning to the main comic soon but there is more of this AU to come!)

Hello, welcome to The Rare Bites AU! I was going to draw J and V, but my eagerness to show this to you was far too strong. Here's some notes on it:

-the disassembly drones are pretty much starving and scrawny. uzi hates that her colony basically lied to these guys because they're only attacking because they're desperate to feed. she's like "DAMN WE'RE A BUNCH OF FUCKING LIARS HUH."

-j, n and v are some of the rare few disassembly drones that reached close to adulthood. they're all shaky and weak by this point, but still strong enough to take down a worker if they absolutely pushed themselves to do it. their population has been shrinking for years, due to starvation, overheating and killing their own young.

-"And our parents are leaving these fuckers to starve over one stupid deal they failed to uphold and won't even tell us about?! Like, come on! If these guys were human, they'd be all bony and shit! That's gross! What the fuck is wrong with us?!"

-n unwittingly reveals how bad their situation is by announcing that j and v might kill him in order to feed themselves when they find out he's had more than enough to drink (uzi's like "damn" and gives him some extra oil canisters. the workers have enough as is, so she doesn't bat an eye over having to give any up to disassembly drones).

-because these three don't really have a major reason to hate each other, i like to imagine that n, j and v basically fell asleep in a very shaky cuddle pile in order to feel less alone in this cruel world, and eventually begin to include uzi. at that point, they feel safer and start gaining weight and showing their true personalities. :3

-long story short, they start off in a bad place but then everything gets better because of uzi's input. :3

I think neither the girlfriend/boyfriend or the mate are long for this world! Bill would scare off anyone he thought was creeping on his leggy nerd, for one.

And another merperson who was tossed into the tank with Bill? Would surge right back out of the water within seconds.

#answers #As a territorial species just dumping one octoperson into the tank with another would be a recipe for disaster #Then add in that Bill is unfriendly and cruel even by their standards #Catch that octoperson grabbing everything with their tentacles out to avoid being put back in the tank #They would not like to be eaten thank you very much #(Yes I'm implying that merpeople in this canon will cannibalize)#Probably a rare thing when they're all in the ocean #A lot more space to *have* personal space. Like the actual quality of the anatomy I feel fine with it's more.#How does this pose communicate this character's feelings?#because the concept gradually shifted during sketching from to #and I think that shows like. Idk why hunters so calm and why Amity's so jumpy at some mud but. They are #BIG fan of how I drew the girls though. #bjk talks #i need some sort of ship name tag for them so people can ignore my ramblings about it XD #i loved astreamofstars's headcanon that rion actually is jaheira's biological kid and named for gorion #which in my worldstate headcanon would definitely make her also rasaad's #but given Rasaad is human and definitely seems at least in his thirties in bg2 #and rion is a half elf but is definitely still a young adult which feels like she's 50 at most #the timeline gets funky bc rasaad would have been like 80 :P #which is like physiologically possible but unlikely in the normal run of things #i had been speculating that J originally researched the rite in the first place at least partly to extend their time together #and her dialogue implies she never figured it out completely (and also had more altruistic intentions for its use at full power)#but no reason that there couldn't have been some lower-level version involved #bc it's magic XD #and i can do what i want #anyway ty for coming to my self-indulgent ted talk #i need to start working on the next chapter of Open Your Eyes #ETA: zenjestrr just pointed out to me that as a monk Rasaad would have Timeless Body feature which simplifies things physiologically XD #yay DND #it's more complicated than just that of course and now i'm resisting writing a whole essay about jaheira's thought processes #XD
