Since deciding to pursue a career as a writer I have been really eager to learn how to write for all sorts of mediums. Since I’m not on social media or creating content this is one that I had not thought about learning but am really happy to be in this class. Most writers and authors have social media as a way to connect with fans and other people of the community and I guess I’m ready to learn how to manage an account while putting out thoughtful and creative posts that still represent who I am as a writer.

Week 1 Check-In Post
"What do I want to learn about writing from this class?"
I would like to learn how to more effectively manage my online posts and cultivate an online profile. I've been using social media for years and have made lots of content, for better or for worse. As an aspiring author I would like to learn how to have a professional and engaging online presence to enhance my work.
"What questions do you have about web writing?"
As someone who's used many different social networks before, including Tumblr for a time, how do different platforms handle content on a rhetorical level? How do content creators leverage the capabilities of different social networks to carry their message?

Initial check in
I want to learn a more diverse way of writing as most of my writing has been focused towards business. I think this class is a good way to not only broaden my horizons but also give me a different outlook on writing as a whole. It is my hope that this course can give me something different to do compared to creating report after report about data.

Thursday Check-In Post
In the course of Web Writing I am taking, I hope to learn the ins and outs of what communicating on the internet is actually like. I am interested in learning the more intricate details of making a post, or simply the movement of commenting on something online. It will be interesting to really think more in depth about something that is so common in our daily lives, that we don't necessarily think too much about. I am not sure if I some questions at this point in time about web writing, but I am sure I will once I begin the readings and start to learn more. I haven't really used many platforms for posting other than Instagram and you tube, so I am interested in the possibilities of Tumblr and what it can create.

Thursday Check in (week 15)
I plan to pursue a career in Art Therapy in the future, I am just wondering if you have any advice on how web writing skills apply to this profession. I want to accurately answer the questions for the assignment.
I was researching what art therapists do, and I saw that they can create open-ended prompts for patients to answer. I think that I can answer these prompts by thinking about the creative and writing elements that go into the profession. I can combine psychology and creative processes of art to help patients express emotions and improve their mental health. Having a lot of design elements in the projects over all the modules will also support my answers.

What assignment questions do I have to help me successfully revise?
For me when I saw that it was asking for us to revise our posts but to make them seem like posts that would be posted on the platform we chose, should we also add images and hashtags to them to make it seem familiar to the platform? For me I chose to use Tumblr as the platform, so should I use hashtags and images since for our posts we tend to do that?

🌸Thursday Check-In🌸
💜 "How are you using comments from me through Draft #2. How can I help?" 💜
🌸 During my project in Content Analysis Draft would it help more in my data charts to divide it more into more sub categories then the major 9 giving the likes, views, and comments of the 20 such videos the data overlooks. I did think I would do 3 for the three content creators for each video and divide for each categories like views, likes, and comments but it would almost be an total of 180 graphs which I think is way too much data to overlook in a project like this. Is there anything more to keep building upon my method and research question that you can also give more insight on? 🌸

What do you want to learn about writing from this class?
I want to learn more about engagement and writing for social media, rather than academically. I have always been an avid social media user and a writer, but I want to learn how to combine the two in a way that is beneficial for my future career. I hope to go into the digital publishing industry, so learning about engaging content and how to write in this format will help a lot! Although I have some experience, I would love to learn more. As someone who has never used Tumblr, I also hope to learn more about writing on this app specifically. I look forward to class this semester! @npfannen #writ318mu #week1

Week 3 Check- in Post
Tumblr media
What assignment questions do you have that will help you complete the assignment successfully? This is a multi-part assignment that spans two weeks - how can I help you be successful?
As I work through the analysis portion of the project, I have some questions about analyzing the data I will collect. When it comes to the analysis portion of the project, I was just wondering if there is an area that most students forget about or don't put enough information about? Another question that I have is about recording data on a video in the data. Would you like a screenshot? Or would you prefer that I do link and/or a synopsis of the video? These should be the only questions that I have at the moment, but it anything else pops up I will make sure to reach out for clarification.

Drawing and citing from my own experience, writing is a form of communication. Writing allows people to convey their identities in a way that is authentic, entertaining, and unique to them and their ways. Writing gives us all the ability to communicate and focus on areas in which we can improve.
As a writer I am explorative. I like to lay the foundation and then allow the characters, or information, to spread as necessary. One event that changed my identity as a writer was Nanowrimo. Nanowrimo wgave me the confidence to realize that I could write on a daily basis and and keep the momentum building .

Dr P Check-in Post
I’ve been thinking about how content strategy isn’t just about making good content but making good decisions about why, how, when, and where content is posted. I get now that high numbers (likes, views) don’t automatically mean a post was strategic. Sometimes people just get lucky, or the timing works by chance. So, my question is: How can I tell the difference between content that performed well because of a good strategy and content that performed well by accident or just because the creator is famous?
I’m trying to analyze patterns across thumbnails, but it’s sometimes hard to separate strategy from popularity. I’m hoping my data will help, but I want to make sure I’m not missing the deeper analysis. What else should I look at to make that clearer?

what do you want to learn about writing from this class?
If I'm being completely honest I'm unsure of what it is that I want to learn about writing from this class. I never even really heard of web writing before seeing it on my marAUDIT and I'm sure what to expect with class because when I saw it on my marAUDIT I thought that it had to do with writing websites.

Module #2: What Is Play? Essay
This is a brainstorm, but I’m posting for feedback.
Definition: Play is the extension of oneself embodied through thought, activity, and physical situation.
MAIN IDEAS:
How play is an extension of self.
1. Play uses thought.
2. Play requires activity/purpose.
3. Play is directed by physical situation.
I am exploring the readings of Huizinga and Sutton-Smith as they seem to be more within the area of cultural and rhetorical aspects of my working definition.
I cannot deny that in the music world, we use the word “play” and then *insert instrument here* - I want to explore how and why we use that specific word and no other verbiage applies. We even have a “play” button for music technology! ▶️ 😄Hopefully that research will also support my working definition.

Thursday check-in
I would like to learn how to write an efficient and interesting post to capture my audience. My question to you @npfannen would be how do you learn to navigate this social media platform with ease? I am not comfortable with social media, only because I haven't really used it other than Facebook years ago.

Thursday Check-in(week13)
For the assignment I am wondering if we are supposed to have the fans be upset the show is cancelled because they “didnt yet fuffill a potential character role” or “left on a cliffhanger” or “character deaths” is this is why the fans do NOT want the show to be cancelled? Or are the fans upset about both?
Another question I have is are we displaying aspects of the show (explaing it) on a google doc or canva? And adding in the created posts along with this?
One more question I have is whether we are naming our show “favorite show.” I saw someone on a Tumblr post have a name for their show, but I assumed we were avoiding this since we do not want to accidentally “cancel” or call out a show.
