Privately, Marsha wants to be a writer. She isn't quite sure where she wants to go with it, but that's what she wants to do. Unfortunately for her, her father has forced plans upon her. His plans involve his children being model students and doing well in school. He wants his children to end up with high paying and successful jobs (like a doctor or a lawyer). And with Marceline off free to do her own thing, he's putting all of his plans onto his youngest. This has left Marsha with no choice but to keep her opinion on her future to herself.

While I'm sure about a top 5, I know that two of her favorite things that aren't available in her main verse are technology and fast food. Her phone and her laptop are her escapes from reality. She also eats fast food frequently.

Happy March Book Buddies!

Hello Starshine! We made it to March and I feel the season of Spring on the horizon.

Spring is one of my favorite season except for the pollen. I could use less of tree sperms floating around!

I’ve wrapped my February reads into two books. I was aiming to finish 4 but the other two crossed over into March reads.

I’m going to be honest, I still haven’t finished the Hades saga: A Game of Fates. 🤭 I did make more progress the past week and I’m 83% done. LOL! I’ve been coasting with this one and that’s ok.

The other two books are really good too! I’ve been enjoying the audiobook of White Trash Warlock. The characters and universe are really unique and magical. It’s been fun!

I also like the concept of Wonderland in A Blade So Black. It’s a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland, If I hadn’t mentioned it before. I won’t lie that I love that Alice is from Atlanta, Georgia. I’m a GA Peach, born and raised. Sometimes, I love my state. But most of the time, my state frustrates me with its ignorance.

Anywho! I’m hoping to finish one of these book soon and share my thoughts.

I'd love to do more things in Carmilla's human verse. Whether it be pre-hell or a more modern setting.

In particular, I'd love the idea of her coming across or knowing other muses while they were still alive too and not knowing that they already met after arriving Hell. And then they eventually figure out they DO know each other.

I'd also just love a chance to explore Carmilla's time in the ballet or her time being the head of her crime family.

📖What is their favorite outside of the bedroom activity to do with their partner?

I feel like him and Haru probably go for a lot of walks, they camp, they talk about everything and nothing, sometimes Tar just lays against his chest and naps while Haru sketches. They're very domestic and normal by a lot of my muses standards.

💋Are they more sensual or sexual?

Sensual definitely, while he does enjoy sex a lot, he likes other forms of intimacy more especially once he learns there's more to it than just the sexual part of it. It's something he learns mostly in base verse rather than modern, mostly because he has friends that will touch him non-sexually in modern. In base verse it's very different. The only times he's ever really touched are for demeaning and dehumanizing reasons, to hurt him, or for intercourse. Then of course... he melts under normal touch once he's used to it. It takes him a while though.

🐶Are they a cuddler?

Oh absolutely. He loves being close to Haru and feeling his skin on his especially after what I mentioned above. Good luck getting him off of him, because he will not. (Unless Haru asks of course) Big or little spoon he does not care at all.

❤️ Do they fall in love easily?

Not in the slightest mostly because he doesn't think he deserves that kind of intimacy. It takes him a while for him to admit that he is and then once he does he's head over heels, he puts his entire heart and soul into it for better or for worse.

🔮Do they believe in soul mates?

Base verse and monster? Absolutely. Modern? Not really and he absolutely rolls his eyes every time Vittorio talks about it when they go to the museum to look at that painting of the maiden and the knight.

🚀 How far are they willing to go for the person they love?

He'd die for him. No, ifs ands or buts, he'd die for him if it meant keeping him safe. Anything he can realistically do, he will do for Haru. Whether that be in modern remembering things he said off handedly that he wanted and buying it for him or in medieval where he tries to buy him the nicest clothes he can afford.

💍Would they ever get married?

In every verse he would. They're married without the paper or ring in base verse anyway, now all someone has to do is keep poking Tarhos until he asks in modern. Then they'll finally get their ring.

💭 Do they tend to sleep better when in bed with their partner?

Tar suffers from really bad night terrors a lot of nights, it's really a gamble if he can sleep and not be interrupted by feeling the eternal dread he always feels when thinking about the past. With Haru it's less than when he's alone, mostly because at least at those points in his life he's on more solid ground than grasping at sand like he's used to. That and just being able to hold him and hear his breathing or his heart beat helps.

🤗Are they physically affectionate? 

Base verse Tarhos when he knows they won't get jailed for public indecency absolutely loves holding and kissing Haru, he can't keep his hands off of him, because the maiden is such a divine being to him. Modern not as much mostly, because again- he doesn't think he deserves to be loved and in modern especially he's had a lot of points that are very toxic hammered into him that he almost feels ashamed for being too affectionate. He feels like the only place he can be like that is in bed, but once he actually goes to therapy and starts healing it's all over. Haru will never know a day of peace.

😡What are their deal breakers?

Base verse Tarhos fucking hates the rich and people with more authority than him. He despises them, but other than that the usual things that would be a deal breaker for most people. Modern Tar is blind to a lot of issues, but yeah pretty much the usual that would be a deal breaker for most people that and he doesn't want kids like ever. Not even adopting them.

🛏What is their favorite bedroom activity to do with their partner?

He loves doting on Haru and constantly checking up on him to make sure he's still enjoying himself with tiny questions like if he's enjoying himself or asking him to tell him how good it feels. It's something so small and yet I know for Haru it means the world, because no ones ever done that for him before.

[Book Review] 📖10 Surahs: Lessons in Faith📖

🧮 Score: 4.4/5.0 . “...when we observe themes and lessons in the Quran, we should seek to apply them in our present-day context.” -- page 215

■ I like her approach in this book. Honest, eye-opening and refreshing. She always makes duas for us after the reflections on each topic. According to the author, she aims to get her readers to adopt a more fact-based approach to Islam and to bridge the gap between scholarly work and the average reader.

The themes and lessons of the selected surahs discussed are interconnected. Complete with Tafseer cited from Ibn Katheer, tadabbur, ibrah, highlighting the selected asmaul husna and more. She gives examples of our modern-day situations. Very insightful.

■ The book started with a set of questions. I admit, I was unable to answer most of them. I feel dumb. Don’t worry, the answers are provided at the back of the book. But, as I read on, I realised, “Eh! I knew the answers, I just forgot, ambil senang.” . ■ I like the cover design. However, the typesetting of the book content is not captivating for my taste. Also at first, I felt that the narrative was too lengthy, it would be better if she does in sub-sections or point forms. Alhamdulillah, the narratives do get better after the first two topics, and run smoothly.

■ “Those who study the Quran deeply are able to gain the right knowledge and are convinced that it comes from Allah - their hearts submit to it.” - page 99

In my opinion, ideally, we do need to have a certain level of Quranic knowledge on the discussed surahs, to easily go through the content. Then only we can comprehend better and engage with the discussion.

Although the author did present a brief introduction on each surah, as well as, including the translations of related verses along with the tafseer and introspection, I don’t think that anyone who has never heard of the “stories” or knowledge, can grasp, reaped the content well. Unless the reader is truly seeking knowledge and is willing to do supplementary readings, insha'Allah. Pretty sure, they will halt before continuing reading.

■ Overall, I do recommend this book to everyone. InshaAllah, it will benefit us all. In Marsha's modern verse, she is a high school student at a private school. While Marsha does come from a wealthy family, she does work at a pet store part-time. She also makes money pet-sitting. This allows her to have her own spending money.

so since FOREVER i’ve wanted to have active threads with lucy and jack in a Strain verse. like it’s one of my most desired threads. I’ve even made photo aesthetics of it. but they would fit so well because The Strain is a modern interpretation of Dracula. It’s Dracula x TWD and I just WANT this verse so bad but not a lot of people have seen the show or read the novels. 

Jack would be a doctor that doesn’t believe until Lucy is attacked and turned. He’d have known Professor Satrakian in the past when he’d gone to college.

🍩 DONUT  -  favourite sweet treat?

churros!   chocolate or dulce de leche ones.   chocolate-covered strawberries are a close second;  classic and delicious.   pat doesn’t treat herself to those as often as she’d like because she watches what she is,  but she’s a huge chocolate lover.

📖 OPEN BOOK  -  do they like reading? what’s their favourite genre?

pat is not a huge reader,  but she does appreciate a good book from time to time.   she just usually doesn’t have the time or the patience for it,  and highly prefers movies.   she likes mystery / thrillers,  or dramas.   her favorite book is p.edro p.áramo by j.uan rulfo;  and,  in modern verse,  g.one girl by g.illian flynn.

🌱 SEEDLING  -  what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

it’s a very simple one,  so much that pat doesn’t really know why it stood out from the others even though it’s so old.   she was around 3 or 4 years old,  sitting on the kitchen counter and “helping” her parents as they cooked tamales for dinner.   afterwards,  they ate on the bed so they could watch a movie on the small,  shitty tv in her parents’ bedroom.   luisa did not like it when they ate on the bed  ( something pat and javier would do a lot due to said tv ),  but that night she joined them.   it was just a very calm,  very peaceful evening;  not very different from many others when pat was that age,  but for some reason that one stuck with her the most.

📖 - what is their favorite outside of the bedroom activity to do with their partner? 

        nothing she only likes bedroom activities. no but she is very very fond of dancing, be it regular ballroom dancing in canon or choreography in modern. it’s incredibly intimate even if it’s something uptempo. she also loves fencing with her partners in canon verses, as well as swimming —— unless it’s james, in which case it’s teaching him to swim. and she’s such a sucker for snuggling while watching a movie or while her partner reads. 

💚 - are they prone to jealousy? 

        very prone. she’s not the sort that won’t let her partner go out without her or anything, but she definitely can’t stand to watch her partner flirt with other people, and if someone flirts with her partner she’ll be there in 0.5 seconds slipping in between them to give her partner a big obvious kiss. ( & if she’s continuously frustrated and made jealous throughout the night she’ll definitely be a little possessive in bed ) 

😘 - Does their demeanor change when in a relationship?

       a little. nothing drastic, but she is a little softer/kinder/more compassionate when she’s actually in love with someone. she can also come off as incredibly girlish and even a little naive/childish sometimes if she’s falling. if she’s just seeing someone casually or just sleeping with them then there’s no real difference, maybe just a tad less irritable because she’s getting laid. 

💝 - How long until they feel secure and comfortable in a relationship? 

       never. honestly though it takes a really long time for her to trust someone and/or completely feel safe, far longer than it takes for her to fall in love with someone and way way longer than it takes for her to want to get into bed with them. in canon she’s in an incredibly insecure environment to begin with, there’s more backstabbings and betrayals than there are in big brother, and pirates aren’t exactly the most commital of partners, so she’s constantly on her guard. even in modern, there’s that culture of “someone younger, prettier, and more talented waiting in the wings” so she is deathly afraid of being replaced or rejected. as for an actual time estimate, at least a year or so, if not more. ( emily pointed out to me that high school verse is the exception, because esme isn’t quite so callous and world-weary by then ) 

⚔️ - Are they protective of their partner?

       yes. esme would kill anyone if they so much as laid a finger on their partner and that is not an exaggeration, she’d come out in full force with cannonade and cutlass and all manner of remorseless pieces of metal. even if she knows they can absolutely defend themselves, and they usually can, esme would absolutely let herself get hurt trying to protect them than let them suffer a single scratch. 

📺 - Do they share information about their relationships freely with friends and family? 

       yep. not to Don Rafael or Luis necessarily, but she definitely has been known to spill every detail to Jacky about her and James’ relationship, especially in modern. and in high school verse she’s very open with Constance about her and James, even if she’s just her mother by law, she’s practically her real mother in that verse and basically adopts esme anyway. but it’s only to a select few she trusts, she’s not a gossip-with-the-cast-about-how-big-he-is sort. ( even if they usually find out through jacky anyway ) 

♦️ - Are they concerned with the social status of their partner? 

       not really? she’s maybe more immediately drawn to people with money or influence just because she can use that, but if she’s attracted to someone lower class ( or if, like james, they fall to a lower class ) she doesn’t really care. in modern he’s essentially tortuga james and is disgraced and jobless and it barely fazed her.
