Percy calls Poseidon dad, Nico calls Hades dad, but Jason calls Zeus/Jupiter 'father' and there is a difference and I'm not normal about it

“He was very fond of me, and i of him” NOOOOOOOO ALICENT STOP THE AVERAGE VIEWER DOESN’T HAVE THE MEDIA LITERACY TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN’T VERBALIZE YOUR OWN ABUSE DUE TO YOUR UPBRINGING AND YOUR OWN COPING MECHANISMS AND THAT IT MEANS YOU SPEAK KINDLY OF YOUR ABUSER IN A WAY THAT IS NEITHER TRUE NOR DESERVED

one thing i CANNOT forgive that they took away in the new pjo series is the very small moment when percy and annabeth are squinting trying to read the sign on Aunty Em's Emporium
Percy asking what does it say and annabeth being like "i have no idea" and Grover having to translate to them bc they’re both dyslexic and cant read in red cursive neon english
like is such a small moment but is such a core memory to me

Truly one of the absolute biggest bummers to selling beds is the two versions of “give me the cheapest bed you have.” This happens most frequently for 1. Children or 2. Old people.
Basically someone has a persons sleep health entirely in their power and decides to give them the absolute shittiest possible bed because they’re not worth more.
I merely resent cheap kids bed people. Upper middle class parents who casually assure me their cherished boy child doesn’t need anything wimpy like foam on his bed, and no, he doesn’t need back support despite doing almost all his growing in his sleep.
But I truly loathe the douchebags who come in from their fancy ass cars wearing watches that cost thousands and inform me their parent is moving into assisted living and they need a cheap bed for them to die on.
It’s not every time. Sometimes people come in on a budget because they can’t afford more but they generally want nice things for their dependents. But the callous way I’ve seen elders and children referred to and dismissed just bums me the fuck out every time.

Love that Word of Radiance literally opens like:
Shallan: Jasnah hates me now because I robbed her and is just taking me along with her forever because of some unknowable reason probably she definitely thinks I’m bad now 😞
Jasnah: *wrote to her mom to tell her about Shallan, came up with a plan to help Shallan’s family even though it would help her enemies, talked up Shallan to her mom to a point where her mom thought it would be a good idea to have Shallan marry into the family and started the betrothal process (but left enough room to back out in case Shallan doesn’t want to get married), got worried because hasn’t seen Shallan in five minutes and decided to sit on deck with her even though she clearly wants to be inside, told Shallan that she thinks the magical beings have brought the two of them together and they need to be together now because fate or whatever (she’s the worlds most prominent atheist btw)*

i have suddenly become obsessed with a theme that HoO established but never proceeded to extrapolate on, which is:
You are Percy Jackson, and you have been swapped with a boy who was allegedly everyone's favorite person, but they have decided to replace him with you. They just met you. You stand next to his best friend and the people he's known his entire life. In his home. In his cloak. In his place. They stopped looking for him.
You are Jason Grace, and you have just found out you have a long lost sister who completely replaced you in her life with this girl you just met. Your lives and personalities are mirrors. She is you, living the life you were robbed of.
You are Annabeth Chase, and you have just become starkly aware that you have been inhabiting the void left behind by your best friend's long lost brother. You and Luke were just replacements for him. Now you have to look him in the eyes when he has nothing and know you took that life from him.
You are Piper McLean, and you have just found out your relationship is fake and built entirely on the memories of Annabeth Chase. You have been given a boyfriend when hers has been taken away. You have no idea how much of it is real or not but regardless you feel like if your relationship isn't exactly in their image that you have failed.
You are Leo Valdez, and you have just learned that you are the echo of your great-grandfather. You are not your own person. You just exist to be a mirror of him. A doppelganger. An actor and stunt double facing all the danger he never had to but wearing his face. To be there for his best friend decades later simply because he couldn't. You are playing a role. A seventh wheel and a pawn for a goddess who carefully sculpted your entire life for her own purposes.
You are Hazel Levesque, and the only reason you are alive is because your brother couldn't save your his sister. You are a consolation prize. An apology. Your existence here is misplaced in every way but you inhabit it anyways.
You are Frank Zhang, and you are a shapeshifter. Inhabiting your own body feels strange and clumsy when you could be literally anything at any time. You are anything and everything and live your life with the simple certainty of knowing exactly how you will die.

every time someone reduces CAPTAIN !!! elizabeth "lizzie" lafayette down to "a sad lesbian" a fairy dies bc i shoot it with my gun. like you're telling me you were spoon-fed a character that has one of the most realistic and RAW representations of grief and perseverance in the series and all you got from that was "she's sad" ????
is she a constantly happy character? Fuck no! that's acknowledged!! but to take EVERYTHING that she is, which has positive and negative aspects THAT ARE BOTH SHOWN, to take the fact that she is THE DRIVING FORCE OF THE MAIN BACKGROUND PLOT, and reduce her down to NOTHING but her relationships?? ?what the hell!!!

I think Scaramouche/Wanderer would be that friend who encourages you to curse, yell and get mad, maybe throw a punch at someone if you're a very peace-loving person. He doesn't believe it actually, that any being is capable of not having ‘a single mean bone in their bodies’. And after all his pushes and provocations give rise to a spectacular display of emotion, you'll see him sporting an almost proud smile in the crowd. He really taught you well.

It’s not lost on me that when someone talks about how “Beyoncé is overrated” or that she’s “not that talented” I’m supposed to respect other people’s music opinions, but if I say Taylor Swift’s music isn’t my style or I don’t care for her that much it’s like I said the most heinous thing in the world and I don’t support other women.

Loop uses they/them the same way you say, "Someone left their wallet behind." There's a constant disconnect and unfamiliarity with them, even when they're referring to themself.

one thing about Leverage’s The Rashomon Job that i found really interesting was getting to see the team’s perception of the world. everyone except nate saw coswell as a threat when he was really just totally oblivious and happened to have a crush on sophie. but they all remember his tone & body language as intimidating, cunning & hostile. because that’s the lens through which they view the world - everyone is a threat.
and that’s their downfall. if they had seen that he was just a random guy who posed no real danger, then they would have each had a much greater chance at stealing that dagger. but when you’re constantly in dangerous situations with no safety net and no back up, everyone is a threat. that worldview keeps you safe. it also keeps you incredibly distant from other people, makes you fearful and wary of everyone. this episode is a great reminder of where the team members were mentally at in season 1 and pre-series. you can see how far they’ve come, too. they have a level of safety that they never did before, and that’s allowed for them to explore emotions and relationships and wants rather than being solely focused on survival.
nate, on the other hand, has an actually accurate point of view. probably partially because he’s in far less danger than the others and because this was pre-sam’s death, so his worldview was likely a lot less grim than it is now, unfortunately. but he’s also just more objective. seeing the bigger picture is his skill. he doesn’t make assumptions, he looks at every angle and simply starts with the most probable one.
