Here on tumblr first I dabbled with a bit of urban fantasy, which is one of my favorite genres, but soon the plot kinda consumed me and I started to have this super complicated plot ideas, but no motivation to write them. So I decided to dial down and go back to "what's the most basic world I can write?"

That's how Luke and Bell were born, two college kids, nothing else. Then obviously, if I'm saying Luke is captain of the football team and I love bromance, I needed to give him a bestie and a frenemy. Jonah and Vince were born like this. Then Leo was just because I love "the baby" of the group. Wendy came later, I wanted someone to challenge Vince. And finally Max now because I wanted some change!

Nothing was planned, the only rule I set to myself was that I wouldn't overthink (or honestly even think lol) when writing the Dumbasses. I write a lot of vanilla stuff with very detailed, plotty worlds, and I wanted to keep the stakes purposefully low here, so I never get "oh my god, I'm ruining my plot" fright, you know?

Now, because I was lowkey forced to organize all my writing into a big document for archiving purposes (I'm always scared tumblr will die on me and I'll lose everything), I finally have a clearer outline, but that has pretty much never been the case. Before this year started I never ever put out "what's coming next" lists, because I never knew what would be coming next.

And even then... I barely follow my list lol.
