A Closer Look at Auction Houses Specializing in Woodworking Machinery
Tumblr media
When it comes to woodworking, having the right machinery is essential for quality craftsmanship. For both hobbyists and professionals, sourcing this equipment can be a challenge. One increasingly popular avenue is through auction houses that specialize in woodworking machinery. These auctions can be a goldmine for woodworkers looking for high-quality shop equipment at competitive prices. In this blog, we'll explore the ins and outs of these auction houses, what to expect, and how to make the most of your experience.
What Are Auction Houses for Woodworking Machinery?
Auction houses dedicated to woodworking machinery typically specialize in selling tools and equipment used in the woodworking industry. From saws and planers to jointers and CNC machines, these auction houses offer a wide range of items that cater to all types of woodworkers, whether you're a novice or a seasoned pro.
These auctions can occur both in-person and online, providing flexibility for buyers to participate from anywhere in the world. This digital shift has opened up new opportunities for finding unique and high-quality equipment, often at a fraction of the retail price.
Benefits of Buying at Auction
1. Cost Savings: One of the most significant advantages of participating in shop equipment auctions is the potential for substantial savings. Often, machinery can be acquired at prices well below retail value. This is especially appealing for startups or hobbyists who may not have the budget for new equipment.
2. Diverse Selection: Auction houses often feature a wide array of tools from various manufacturers. This diversity allows buyers to compare different brands and models in one location, making it easier to find exactly what you need.
3. Unique Finds: Many auction houses also feature vintage or rare woodworking machinery that can be hard to come by in the retail market. For collectors or those seeking specialized tools, auctions can be a treasure trove.
4. Quality Assurance: Reputable auction houses usually provide a detailed description and condition report of the machinery being sold. This transparency helps buyers make informed decisions, reducing the risk associated with purchasing used equipment.
What to Expect at an Auction
When attending an auction, whether online or in-person, preparation is key. Here are some tips to help you navigate the process:
1. Research: Before bidding, research the equipment you’re interested in. Understand its market value, features, and any potential maintenance issues. Websites, forums, and social media groups can be valuable resources for gathering information.
2. Inspect the Machinery: If possible, inspect the equipment before bidding. Look for signs of wear, damage, or missing parts. Many auction houses allow for preview days where you can examine items up close.
3. Set a Budget: It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of bidding, but setting a budget beforehand can help you stay within your means. Consider all associated costs, including transportation, potential repairs, and upgrades.
4. Understand the Bidding Process: Familiarize yourself with the auction format, whether it’s live or online. Each auction house may have its own rules, including how bidding increments work and how to place absentee bids if you cannot attend live.
Tips for Success
To make the most of your experience at shop equipment auctions, consider the following strategies:
- Network: Engage with other bidders and auctioneers. Building relationships can provide insights into the industry and future auction opportunities.
- Stay Patient: If you don’t find what you’re looking for, don’t be discouraged. Auctions happen regularly, and new opportunities will arise.
- Follow Up: If you purchase equipment, follow up with any needed maintenance or repairs as soon as possible to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
Conclusion
Auction houses specializing in woodworking machinery present an excellent opportunity for woodworkers to acquire high-quality tools at competitive prices. By doing your research, preparing for the auction, and understanding the bidding process, you can navigate these events successfully. Whether you’re building a professional workshop or expanding your hobby space, shop equipment auctions can help you achieve your woodworking dreams without breaking the bank. Happy bidding!

Wall cladding vs Painting
Tumblr media
Wall Cladding
In a comparison of wood wall cladding vs painting within interior design applications, several factors come into play. Wall cladding, particularly with wood works, offers a timeless aesthetic appeal, providing warmth, texture and natural beauty to interior spaces. While it adds depth and character, the various options like shiplap, tongue and groove or reclaimed wood cater to different design styles. However, wall cladding typically requires a higher upfront investment and ongoing maintenance. In other words it is not considered cheap although it offers excellent durability and insulation properties.
Painting
On the other hand, painting provides versatility in color choices and finishes. in this case, it allows for quick and budget-friendly updates to refresh or transform interior environments. Interior painting offers flexibility in changing color schemes with ease while being applied to various surfaces. This makes it accessible for both DIY projects and professional mega projects.
Comparison: Wall cladding vs Painting
While painting may require more frequent maintenance and lack the natural charm of wood wall cladding, it provides an affordable and customizable option for achieving desired aesthetic outcomes in interior design.
Ultimately, the choice between wall cladding and painting depends on individual preferences, design goals, and practical considerations, with both options offering unique benefits and opportunities for creative expression in interior spaces.

They don’t even attempt to assassinate US politicians anymore. You notice that? Not since the anthrax scare back for… who was it, Barack? And even that… pathetic. This new generation has no respect for an honest hitman. I’m not sure this new generation has any honest hitman - you see that shit with Boeing? Sloppy, fucking disgraceful - you kill the whistleblowers before they get halfway to a lawsuit. What kind of fucking amateur is doing faked suicides the night before testimony? Goddamn greenhorns. Back in my day someone tried to shoot Ronald Reagan in broad daylight. There used to be bomb threats to Congress. I took out a few union leaders in the utilities sector myself. Today’s generation? Won’t even threaten to throw a punch - not even over on that - what’s it now, ‘X’? They got no guts. None! And they don’t even have poor impulse control to boot! Too much of that - that panopticon anxiety bullshit. “Oh what if I get a called out post???” People used to send the president letters full of bioweapons. In the mail! Today’s generation? Not a chance. All because of woke.

Some little furniture story.
As I wrote last time – every craftsman should have own workshop, and every workshop need tools, furnitures and other things that make work possible. Maybe it's not much because it's only a shelf and table, but Bruno seems to be very possitive suprised. Do you see this wonderful happiness smile on his face?
On photos:
No. 1 - final result
No. 2, 3 and 4 - the process of building a shelf
No. 5 - gluing the table top
No. 6 - table and shelf elements during being sanded
No. 7 - elements of the table and shelf just before gluing the last elements together
So now we can record some part of stop motion video, from "shoe creating" process :)

Understanding the Bidding Process at Woodworking Machinery Auctions
Tumblr media
Woodworking machinery auctions can be both exhilarating and daunting, especially for those new to the scene. If you’ve ever found yourself intrigued by the prospect of acquiring high-quality tools at a fraction of their retail price, then participating in a woodworking machinery auction might be right up your alley. But how do you navigate the bidding process effectively? Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you understand and succeed in these unique auctions.
 1. Do Your Homework
Before diving into a woodworking machinery auction, it's crucial to conduct thorough research. Familiarize yourself with the types of machinery typically auctioned, from saws and planers to lathes and sanders. Each machine has its specific features and potential issues, so understanding these will help you make informed decisions.
Additionally, research the auction house itself. Reputable auctioneers often provide detailed catalogs and condition reports for each item. These documents are invaluable, as they offer insights into the machine’s condition, history, and any known issues. Look for reviews or testimonials from previous buyers to gauge the auction house's reliability.
 2. Inspect the Machinery
If possible, attend the preview sessions offered by the auction house. These previews allow you to inspect the woodworking machinery in person before the actual bidding begins. Pay close attention to the machine’s overall condition, looking for signs of wear and tear, rust, or missing parts. This step is critical, as it helps you avoid bidding on machines that might require costly repairs.
If you can’t attend the preview, request detailed photographs and ask for a comprehensive description of each lot. Some auction houses also offer virtual tours or online inspections, which can be a useful alternative.
 3. Set a Budget
One of the most important aspects of participating in a woodworking machinery auction is setting a firm budget. Auctions can be fast-paced and emotionally charged, leading to impulsive bidding. To avoid overextending yourself, decide in advance how much you’re willing to spend on each piece of equipment, including any additional costs such as buyer’s premiums, taxes, and transportation.
It’s wise to stick to your budget strictly. Auctions can be thrilling, and it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement. Having a clear financial limit will help you make rational decisions and avoid regrets later on.
 4. Understand the Bidding Process
At a woodworking machinery auction, understanding the bidding process is crucial. Auctions typically follow a sequential format where each lot is presented one by one. Bidders raise their hands or use a bidding paddle to indicate their interest in a lot. The auctioneer will then call out increasing bid amounts until no further bids are placed.
Keep an eye on the auctioneer’s pace and stay alert. If you’re bidding online, refresh your browser regularly to ensure you’re up-to-date with the latest bids. It’s also a good idea to familiarize yourself with common auction terms, such as “reserve price” (the minimum price the seller is willing to accept) and “hammer price” (the final bid amount).
 5. Bid Strategically
Effective bidding requires strategy. Start by placing a bid that’s slightly higher than the current bid but still within your budget. This tactic can signal serious interest without immediately committing to the highest price. Be prepared to act quickly and decisively, especially if you’re competing with other bidders.
Watch the competition closely. If you notice that another bidder is consistently outbidding you, assess whether it’s worth continuing or if you should focus on other lots. Sometimes, walking away from a heated bidding war can be the best strategy.
 6. Finalize Your Purchase
Once you’ve won a bid, you’ll need to finalize the purchase. This usually involves paying a deposit immediately after the auction and settling the remaining balance within a specified timeframe. Ensure you understand the payment terms and methods accepted by the auction house.
Additionally, make arrangements for the pickup or delivery of your machinery. Depending on the size and weight of the equipment, you may need professional movers or specialized transportation.
 Conclusion
Navigating a woodworking machinery auction requires preparation, strategy, and a clear understanding of the process. By researching the machinery, inspecting items carefully, setting a firm budget, and bidding strategically, you can maximize your chances of acquiring valuable tools at competitive prices. Remember, participating in auctions can be a rewarding experience, offering both the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of securing quality equipment for your woodworking endeavors.
