He's touch adverse for the most part

Especially at the beginning of your relationship

Much prefers when you compliment and praise him

But he noticed that you didn't touch him much

He noticed the other ways you showed affection

Like making his favorite food

Or bringing Donnie snacks and coffee

You always listened to his rambling, asking questions when you didn't understand something

As a thank you, he often made you things

When he went over to your house, he noticed that they were used

He tries his hardest to show affection in other ways

Once he was comfortable, he let you touch his shell

Leo is an English teacher (the cool kind that lets you read graphic novels and has a movie day every last Friday of the month) and Raph teaches kindergarten! (the school they teach at is Kindergarten through 8th grade.)

April does not teach, she is simply a reporter/journalist in this au. I did consider making her assistant principal, though.

Casey Sr. is a gym teacher and Casey Jr. is a student in Raph's kindergarten class :)

Donnie thinks it’s a good change. Like he doesn’t think that his mom would deliberately do things that would make him stressed or just make him so miserable. He thinks that she’s acting in his best interest and that there is something wrong with him that is making him miserable when he really should be happy that his mom is bringing him back on the ‘right path’ if that makes sense

and idk if i can pick a favourite tbh? there's parts of each one that i really like and some parts where i find it "meh" but it was the best i would come up with at the time.

for example i think that i wrote Leo very in character in his part, which isn't always easy; i like how done with everything Donnie is in Raph's; and i had fun coming up with Donnie's reaction in his own part, as well as giving the turtle tot similarities beyond the appearance. i just realised i didn't do that for Leo's and Raph's and i honestly don't know why lol

You had someone you wanted him to meet

So he was panicking, of course

Your parents? Your best friend?

So when he showed up to your apartment, he looked shaken

You looked him to your bedroom, which he's never been in

He sees a giant glass box with water and plants inside

This box took over an entire wall (Spiny Softshells get big)

"This... is Plato."

"Plato?"

He goes up to the box and sees a Spiny Softshell, basking under the heat lamp

"You have a pet turtle? Not just any turtle, but a Spiny Softshell... Like me?"

"Yeah, he's been my pet for... 15 years."

He's very confused

He watched as you pet Apollo's head, the turtle rubbing his face against your hand

He got to your place and you showed him to this pond outside your house

"What are we doing out here?"

He looked where you were pointing and saw an alligator snapping turtle

He wasn't as big as he's heard they get, maybe half the size

"You have a turtle?"

"I've had him for 15 years."

He knelt down and Popeye rushes him

"Raph!"

You knew that Raph could take care of himself

But Alligator Snapping Turtles are very aggressive

Popeye tried biting Raph, but didn't have much luck

His arms were far wider than 5 inches (which is how wide they can open their mouths)

So it barely managed to pinch him

Raph laughed as Popeye continued to try and get a good hold

He had a feeling they'd be good friends

1. Probably not, he's only five. He is only just starting to learn the inevitable irregularities of the world.

2. I don't personally headcanon Leo as being fully fluent in Spanish. I think he knows basic conversational terminology and that's it.

3. There are definitely human parents who have big feelings about a school where humans and mutants/yokai attend together. I think mutants/yokai being accepted in society is a new thing in this au, maybe only five years old, so the concept of yokai teachers and students in public definitely has a certain amount of acrimony.

4. No F!Leo in this au! There's no Krang (except for Karen at the PTA bakesale, maybe), no time travel, no apocalypse setting. This is a domestic happy au!

5. I wouldn't go that far with it, but Donnie definitely plays favorites amongst his students. (Especially those in the robotics club.)

6. Probably Raph. It's hard not to love him, he's a giant teddy bear.
