Can we know more about your Croatia?
DA! Of course!! Thank you for the ask:-)
Tumblr media
Here’s a summary of my Croatias main aspects!
(Before I talk about him, I gotta say that my main inspirations for Croatia are Hidekazs incredibly short introduction of a design, my own experiences with Croatian folk, and some historical stuff that molded Croatia (and it’s stereotypes) to be the way they are today. Of course since I’m not really croatian myself, I can’t really say how accurate I depicted him, but I hope you enjoy it anyways xaxa)
1: His general personality; Croatia is a charismatic man with a high ego. He prides himself in his newer, cleaner aesthetic that he acquired after joining the EU, though it’s mostly just a well-kept façade. Under this façade he has some alcohol and drug problems, which he only shows to other balkaners. Admittedly, the drug problem does slip sometimes when he goes on coke-induced rants, dropping his EU-branding momentarily. He is quite the asshole to most of his neighbours, of which he is frenemies with.
2: Touristic integrity; Croatia loves nothing more than his beaches. He tries his best to take good care of them so the Germans and Brits who go on Vacation in the summer are enjoying it enough to come back. Though when the summer is over, he isn’t as happy and well-adjusted as usual; with the lack of tourism he gains some sort of seasonal depression, where he gets incredibly irritable and pissy.
Tumblr media
3: Fudbal Freak; An incredibly huge hooligan, loving this sport to death. Don’t let him get a Penalty. He will get hard. Anyways, he would fight anyone without hesitation if they say Modrić sucks. He is not afraid of giving someone a blue eye for having opposing opinions.
Tumblr media
4. (Fr)Enemies; One of his biggest problems in Life are Serbia and Bosnia. Most of the time he’s only happy to see them when heavily intoxicated or high. Though he doesn’t like to admit it, it’s very important for him to be Serbia’s Nr1 Enemy. If he isn’t Serbias number one problem in the moment, he gets mad, but usually can’t do anything (the EU is a party pooper!), so waits till the 78th feud between Albania and him are done to finally annoy him. Bosnia is mostly just a side-hustle to annoy while waiting nowadays. All of the annoy each other.
Tumblr media
5. EU-Buddies; Though not as close as the Ex-YUs, Croatia does have good friends in the EU. His main accomplices (next to Slovenia) are Romania and Bulgaria, whom he hangs out with every now and then. After EU-Meetings they like to go out for beers. They are often all cornered into the group of… well.. a bit odd EU members because of their behaviour, but he doesn’t care since it doesn’t affect him in the grand scheme of things.
Tumblr media
These are the basics of my Croatia! If you have any Questions about specific things, don’t be afraid to ask. I‘ll go and snort some Cedevita now.

another rtc eurovision post (i'm so sorry for my brainrot y'all) with me associating a song for each character
fair warning, this is *LONG*, so i'd suggest scrolling past if you don't really like long posts :)
i don't think that anyone pre-canon would've watched it but, you know, post-canon everyone lives au, afterlife, take your pick either works!!!
mischa: as previously stated, stefania by kalush orchestra (ukraine 2022) is his top of all time. wikipedia describes its genre as "alternative hip hop and folk" which is basically this song is awesome/talia. it being a tribute to the frontman's mother also deeply resonates with him, missing his own mother. other favourites include soldi (italy 2019), dark side (finland 2021), lie to me (czech republic 2018) and kuula (estonia 2012) because... in addition he loves everything ukraine's sent (aside from 2012. imagine being able to have pride and audience support for practically every entry from your country). he just finds so much enjoyment and nostalgia in it (ie me projecting onto my fave). he was so surprised when noel knew about it and that he had a buddy in this uranium hellhole to chat about it. has a crush on alexander rybak (norway 2009) and chanel (spain 2022). he still does not realise he is bisexual. he starts a betting pool with the choir for each new contest (and all the ones only he and noel have seen. the two get sad at first that they can't participate with those ones, but then decide to fuck with them)
noel: his winner of 2022 was in corpore sano (serbia) for The Drama and The Art, but he also supported fulenn because france (the man was so disappointed when they got second last). his all time favourite is l'enfer et moi (france 2013), because frenchwoman singing about how she would make her ex's life hell meant that he could graft on his dreams to that. because he's canadian i don't think he grew up with it like mischa, i think that he went down a youtube rabbithole when the march he turned 14 somehow or other and fell in love. he loves all the songs like n'oubliez pas (france 2015), voila (france 2019), tout l'univers (switzerland 2019), and bonds with mischa over zitti e buoni (italy 2021 who am i kidding everyone knows måneskin, thanks to @curious-georg for that idea!!!). sometimes he puts on playlists of the earlier competitions while he's studying to imagine a morning in france. has a crush on half the male entrants.
i haven't thought through how the rest of the choir gets exposed to it because it's pretty much a "after canon once they're friends, wherever they are, au or not i don't know". but basically i have a feeling that one time on movie night it's mischa's turn and he brings along the 2021 contest (because it's one of the best of the most recent and the hosts are so good) and noel goes BATSHIT and everyone else is just like "hey... what?? this is four hours long" and then it starts and they end up really enjoying it, with them going through all the contests (sometimes on mischa's night, sometimes on noel's, a couple for constance's too) and watching them live (because i said so)
ricky: they love the entries that are just a lil quirky. a lil different. their favourite from 2022 was eat your salad (latvia), mainly because the audience *screamed* out "PUSSY" to fight the censors (eurovision is a family friendly competition). the peak songs for them were at the start of semi 1 and then it all went downhill from there. and their goat? space (montenegro 2017). if you haven't seen that video, bestie, you should. they really do watch it for the memes, epic sax guy (run away aka moldova 2010), anti-crisis girl (ukraine 2009), "but in the end, they didn't" (the 2019 host talking to that year's cypriot contestant about cyprus coming in second in 2018).
constance: her 2022 winners were not the same (australia) and i am what i am (malta) because she loves the expression of the internal self and hearing peoples' emotions through the melodies. her all time favourites are monsters (finland 2018) and cry no more (netherlands 2017) because of how both are personal, one is upbeat in its self-empowerment, while the other is about familial love and support. she relates to and desires both. otherwise, anything with a gay kiss. she screamed at the full-on makeout session that occurred during this time (lithuania 2015). and marry me (finland 2013) made her VERY happy for that kiss at the end. even then, it takes her a while to realise she is Not Straight.
ocean: her 2022 winner was hold me closer (sweden), then river (poland) because it genuinely moved her, then die together (greece). she hates I.M (israel) with a burning passion, and everyone except her sees the irony in that. from other years she loves last dance (greece 2021), only teardrops (denmark 2013), popular (sweden 2011), lipstick (ireland 2011) and euphoria (sweden 2012). she has a spreadsheet ranking her placements for each year they watch, as well as the rest of the choir, and uses that to predict the results of the betting pool mischa started. sweden and greece are in her top five every year. she put if i were sorry as her first place when they were watching the 2016 edition and mischa refuses to talk to her for the rest of the night (this one actually isn't me projecting i just think it'd be funny).
penny/jane: because this idea isn't super-solidified, and her character isn't either, it's hard to know. i think that she's a menace and loves the voice cracks and mistakes (i feel bad if i direct people to certain entries for that!!! but if you know, you Know). the best guess i have is that her favourite 2022 entry is miss you (belgium) because of the religious allegory and shifting genres (like in the ballad of jane doe), but i will take suggestions!!
this was a really long post, thanks for sticking around if you got this far!

oh man i have Thoughts on this. here’s the part where i go off on one, so:
there is a saying in romania: “românia are doar doi vecini buni: serbia și…marea neagră”; “romania has two good neighbours: serbia and... the black sea”. that is to say, anica adores serbia. her brother-in-arms for as long as she has known them, and she considers them family; bound by all but blood. she confides her much less poised and pretty truths in them. she slurs and swears and will slouch a little more where she sits, the cigarettes droop lazily from her fingers and her eyes look even more tired. she drifts off; a great indicator of just how much she trusts them.
she has slapped them across the face more than once and shaken their shoulders so hard it felt as if their teeth were moving. she overstays her welcome and they shout each-other down, but it comes from such a deep, unmoving love for them. a burning want to see them do well, to flourish. it should be said that after those slaps, she kisses the same cheek and profusely apologises, hiding shamed eyes in their shoulder.
she fancies herself as the big sister, once again, or maybe a twin in the faith and in this strange neighbourhood. still the older of the twins, but still. she fancied them, too! once upon a time! she will laugh sheepishly now at what once was a childhood crush and how flustered she would get hearing of a visitor arriving from beyond the western carpathians. she would listen to his confession so closely and blush furiously on his behalf. their shared faith makes this bond only stronger. she still looks him so fondly, though. her shoulders relax, as she heaves a sigh.
she crosses herself. “lead us in prayer, brother”.

Tumblr media
this was surprisingly hard because half of them I wanted to throw in f, but then felt guilty about it so here’s where we are. explanations under the cut to be nice (fair warning: I’m writing this while tipsy so this is a journey)
S-tier
Old Fritz: look me in the eyes. look at me. are you looking? good. where else was I was going to put him? where? in C with the other losers? foolish. I am ruining my life for this man, I’m going to go into debt so I can be moderately qualified to write books on him so Tim Blanning and Christopher Clark don’t boo my off the stage. I sit here sometimes and I’m like ‘y’know, I would start a podcast to talk about his life’ as if I’m some straight white guy who thinks any of you want to listen to me for an hour. he’s a bastard, a smug bastard, and is the epitome of self-destructive tendencies. and, honestly, I wouldn’t mind if he wasn’t so fucking misogynistic all the time. ‘oh women aren’t fit to rule’ shut up Fritz before I time travel to fuck your wife and make her have one night where life feels worthwhile. but he’s funny, I enjoy how he does foreign policy, and he’s unfortunately relatable to me. cheers, Fritz. here’s to never being satisfied from one gay disaster with anger issues to another. may we burn in hell together
A-tier
Friedrich iii: “Suzanne, he was only on the throne for 99 days!! how can he be this high up when some of these bastards refused to die?” I hear you, my friends, and I have answers. I’ll tell you two words you’ll be shocked to hear put together: liberal Hohenzollern. a rare breed, isn’t it? imagine, friends, a world where he got over his throat cancer because he listened to a doctor and we get through the 1910s, 20s, even the 30s without Wilhelm II Electric Boogaloo being in power. Prussia is still on the map, the Anglo-Prussian alliance is strong, and I live in peace. but no. this stupid man had to keep smoking. because he’s selfish and doesn’t care about my needs. you know, he actually loved his wife. rare in this family. loved her and wasn’t abusive. the bar is so low, guys. and his wife is amazing too, Victoria. the world would’ve been in competent hands if they’d been in power longer (and Bismarck would’ve been out of a job still but at least these guys are smart. their son inherited grandma Vicki’s IQ). I would sleep with both of them and would thank them for the honor (when it should always be the other way around, remember that)
B-tier
Friedrich I: if your name is Friedrich and only Friedrich, we’re buds. that’s my rule. I have to give him credit where credit’s due. he was the first. while I agree with Fritz in his proscription that he was ‘small in big ways and big in small ways’ (I may have flipped that around), he wasn’t a bad guy. he just was born into the wrong job for him. I appreciate that he rode on his father’s coattails of proving useful to the Habsburgs and did a little himself to get that sweet, sweet kingship. smart move. I also like that he saw Louis XIV and said to himself “I stan, I kin, on God we’re gonna do that’ and tried. only for have his stupid, ungrateful, unclassy son to do away with that. I, too, am a woman of luxury and self-indulgance and if I had all the riches of Brandenburg and Prussia at the time (not much), I would spend them ridiculously on outfits and music and art. now, what did he do as king? what policy legacy did he leave behind? that’s a good one :)
C-tier
Friedrich Wilhelm III: now as a king he sucks. and I stand by this because, you know, he lost to him *imagine me pretending to be short and saying ‘oui, oui’ in a bad french accent*. and as any proper Englishwoman I can’t support a monarch who goes around losing to the French unless their name is Mary I. but, he’s a pathetic little man. he really is. so indecisive, so unsure of himself. what are you doing little guy? you think because your last name is Hohenzollern, God thinks you’re a good king? well it is like 1805 and, while divine right isn’t really being used as much, it’s as good as any reason on why you’re the chosen one and my family is eating dirt in Sicily and on the Scottish border. he’s really just a dude, nothing extraordinary about him except that his wife was the only one with brains and was the first to establish that (sorry Wilhelm I). he cried when he found out that his children didn’t call him ‘papa’ and went into a deep depressive state when his wife suddenly died. he’s an average man, of average abilities, but of big heart. and the big heart is what bumps him up, for me, from his old place as an F to a C. though, his moralizing is tedious
Friedrich Wilhelm II: this man should have partied with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. everyone’s got that one ruler whose all about sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll. for the US it’s JFK, for the UK it’s Margaret Thatcher Charles II, France has Louis XIV. Prussia has this guy and we should thank him. so many mistresses, so much sex, so much revelry and debauchery and sin! this guy’s personal life is like a treasure trove of political and sexual intrigue. if you’re into that - as I am as a town gossip - you’ll love him. I am constantly amazed by the fact that some STD didn’t kill him. syphilis, herpes, crabs. something, man, anything. but he didn’t. he’s a shit king though. absolutely horrible. all he did was whine that he didn’t get taught anything by Uncle Fritz and, yes, that’s not good if it’s true (but it’s not completely because the treatises are detailed but I guess he didn’t have time to read) but c’mon. actually apply yourself and learn on the job. I know that would’ve required him to not be balls deep somewhere, but unfortunately he’s not Dorian Gray. there’s work that needed to be done and he didn’t do it. boo!!
D-tier
Wilhelm I: apparently he was a good guy, unlike the other 3 who populate the lowest rungs of Prussian kinghood. so I give him that and I can respect that. but what did he do? what were his own ideas? I thought about putting Bismarck as king instead because, really, he was. Bismarck was a minister who ran around the king’s back to set things up exactly as he liked and it fucking worked because he was the brains. his wife was intelligent too, but theirs wasn’t a wamr and loving marriage. and Bismarck worked to get Wilhelm to distrust her because she was liberal and the fact that Wilhelm would listen to Otto even if it meant allowing himself to be drowned in the Rhine is pathetic. fun party at Versailles though. hope it was worth the war reparations
F-tier (bastard time) I’m going in a different order because I want to go from the ones I hate least to most xoxo
Friedrich Wilhelm IV: “I won’t accept a crown from the gutter” then you won’t accept a crown at all, stupid idiot! god, the smugness. the authoritarian impulses. I know it was the cool thing in 1848 to put down any revolts/protests with as much force as possible, but man, at least the Habsburgs were transparent. homie was like “yeah guys lol I’ll make a constitution and it’ll be epic! you’ll have so many rights! xoxo gossip girl” and then...nope. and AND he wanted the Habsburgs in charge of things too! Mr. ‘I’m Nostalgic For When HRE Was Great And We Blew Austrian Dick!’ grow up man. it’s Prussia time buddy, Austria is beginning to fall apart. don’t look to the past, look to the future, but you didn’t have that vision did you?
Wilhelm II: *banging pots and pans* I blame this man for everything! now, intellectually, does Germany take all the blame for WWI? no, that’s foolish and propaganda of the Allies only. if you’re a European power in 1914, you get to share the blame (ex: why did UK need to make this a naval arms race? Austria should’ve declared war on Serbia sooner if that’s what it wished to do. Russia, please stay out of the Balkans then and forever). but does my irrational hatred of Wilhelm blind me to this truth when I see his stupid face and that ugly fucking mustache that I wish to yank off? my god, yes. I see him and Rule Britannia and The Yanks Are Coming start playing so loud in my head and I’m like ‘yeah, the kaiser’s gonna pay.’ I’m sorry that Bismarck’s ego was bigger than yours but did you have to prove him right by getting incompetent buffoons who were playing checkers when he set the board up for chess to replace him? Did you have to prove Freud right by displacing private problems onto public life with your little tit-for-tat with George IV (VI?) because his mummy loved you more? Why did you need to fuck every naval vessel you saw like an inferior of Peter the Great who believed he was Sir Francis Drake? but that’s just the first war and he lived to see things setting up for the second. wasn’t in convenient for you to be close with the N@zis when you thought they might want a king back on the throne and you could reclaim your little tyrant. like every goddamn Prussian conservative or Junker, you thought you could play the tyrannical cockroach. sure, you figured out earlier that he was no pal, but you still collaborated and you still allowed yourself to get played like the weak man of conscience you are. cheers!
Friedrich Wilhelm I: ladies and gentleman, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! the biggest bastard straight outta Berlin, FW1! and who doesn’t love an abusive father? who doesn’t love a man, so insecure and pathetic, that he needs to terrorize children to be able to look at himself and have a little pride. I understand that it was because he wanted his kids, specifically Fritz, to be best. but being best and perfect meant being miniature versions of him and aren’t we supposed to want our children to be better than a carbon-copy of a small man? honestly, I could live with the occasional smack for this time period. it’s within the norm and, while horrible, isn’t irreparably damaging. this guy really had to beat the shit out of Fritz and Wilhelmina and I’m sure Augustus and Henry and Amalia and all the others (so many kids) didn’t get spared either because if you hit one, you’ll hit ‘em all. and I judge them for their flaws all the same but, for some of them, it gets hard to. because what fighting chance did they have when their father was telling them how worthless they were and beating them senseless and threatening death and life imprisonment on some? I’m constantly impressed by Henry and Fritz and Wilhelmina for amounting to any semblance of maturity, even though it’s always fleeting, because this man didn’t give them the tools to be functioning adults. but each of them managed to be greater than their father, as did Amalia managing a really cool coup in Sweden. and what did FW1 get? he built up his army, had a tall guy fetish, increased the treasury, and made the cabinet and executive offices more efficient. there used to be this one guy on here that would argue that that was all a good king made and that this lowlife didn’t deserve the contempt he got by some on here (an obvious vague of me) for his behavior as a father. and maybe I’m a crackpot, but I believe the quality of a man outshines all those other achievements and that that’s meaningless to me, in my personal life. and when I get to hell, before I go to any of these other men, I’ll go to him and ask him how hell’s fires feel because, if his God was real, it would never love him. and that’s beautiful

CANTLON: RYAN LINDGREN PROFILE AND LATEST NEWS
Tumblr media
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings CROMWELL, CT - It’s been a rollercoaster of a first season for Hartford Wolf Pack rookie defenseman, Ryan Lindgren. His play has earned him a passing grade for his effort, despite not going to the postseason for a second straight season A majority of Lindgren's season was spent partnered with John Gilmour as the Wolf Pack’s top defensive duo. The expectation for the remainder of the season is that there will be new combinations tried at both the forward and defensive positions.  Lindgren played with Brandon Crawley last weekend. “It was a lot of fun playing with John, and we also got along well off the ice too. I'm happy for him to get a recall. He’s a heck of a hockey player. I played most of the year with him, with the exception of a few games. He's such an easy guy to play with, just give him the puck, and he’s such a good skater, you let him fly. "Now we're all going to have to make changes and adjustments with so many new faces,” said Lindgren. Lindgren is acutely aware of what coming into a locker room at the end of a tough, and a difficult season can be like for a player. “I came here last year for the last ten games, so I know what it's like when you’re the new face and everything is new to you. It’s a very exciting time for them to start playing (pro hockey). It’s still a big time for myself and all the other players to show management what you got. We've got to make sure nobody is taking any nights off. It’s an important final ten games for everybody here.” Lindgren had one advantage last year that helped in in his transition. His former college teammate, Vinni Lettieri, who was just recalled to the Rangers, was there to greet him last spring. “I went through the same thing they did in coming from college. It's just a different lifestyle going from class and knowing all your buddies to a place where you really don’t know anyone. To go from the structure of going to classes to where you go to practice in the morning and then the rest of the day is yours, it's a lot different as the hockey is different from the college game.” The Lettieri factor was big for him. “I was very lucky to have Vinni here when I got here, of course, I knew him from playing at (University of) Minnesota, so I was able to move in with him and he’s a guy who was always on the move, on and off the ice,” Lindgren said with a laugh. “He had family come in and always had something going on. I was very lucky to just not to sit in a hotel by myself, doing things with him or cooking meals at home. I was very fortunate.” Lindgren’s game is a physical, grind-it-out style that is a throwback to the players of 10-15 years ago. At that time, having a physical rearguard would be prized, but in today’s game, defensemen are more like defensive backs in football. Their hands are tied in how to defend against the opposing forward in their own end. “When I was playing for the US at the World Juniors with coach Bob Motzko (now the head coach at the University of Minnesota). He used to say to play as close to the line as you can. To crossover is a huge thing. I like to play a physical style. I do trash talk a bit, and run my mouth,” Lindgren said with a wry smile and wink. ”But you have to be careful not to carry it too far. In general, you have to stay focused on your game, so you don’t hurt the team with bad or ill-timed penalties. So that’s the game I bring and that’s not going to change, you just have to be smart to know when the right time is.” The first year has seen Lindgren’s potential tempered with reality. It was a season of ups-and-downs for the Wolf Pack as a team and individually. He now sports an "A" with Rob O’Gara out for the past 21 games since early February with a lower-body injury. “I have been happy about it there a very good group of guys here and I got time in New York which of course very special,” said Lindgren. The Second year pro was originally drafted by Boston, whose rights were acquired in the Rick Nash deal last spring “I have learned a lot in my time here. (Pack Head Coach) Keith (McCambridge) and (Assistant Coach) Joe (Mormina) have been huge for me in getting to learn the pro game, and the call-up, of course, to the Rangers was something else. I was fairly consistent for the year and the Rangers seem happy with me,” The season, however, boils down to one bad stretch, a ten game losing streak that ran from mid-January to mid-February just after the trade of then, team captain, Cole Schneider. “We were right in contention (three points out of fourth place) and we lost ten in a row and it's hard to make that up and others were winning (Hershey Bears) and next thing you know we fell out of it (playoff contention). It’s a very tough time of the year. Everybody is playing for a playoff spot and you're not. "We let up at that time and this is where we're at. Losing Schneids was tough, but we didn’t play as well as we should have.” The Checkers with a 44-15-7-1 record (96 points) are 31 points ahead of the Wolf Pack. They clinched a playoff berth last weekend by sweeping the Pack in a pair of games. Syracuse has also clinched a playoff berth last weekend as they lead the North Division. The Pack takes on the Checkers for a third straight game on Friday night at the XL Center at 7:15 pm which will be the last meeting with the Checkers this year. “They are the league’s best team. We got a lot of new faces, so it's going to be a big test for us if we play well,” said Lindgren last weekend as they departed for North Carolina. NOTES: No week is complete without some roster moves. Greg Chase, the nephew of former Hartford Whaler, Kelly Chase, had a two-goal game for the Maine Mariners (ECHL) against the Worcester Railers including an OT winner. He was signed to a PTO by Hartford while Dean Melanson was returned to the Mariners. Former UCONN player Karl El-Mir was released by Providence from his ATO deal without having played a game. Michael Doherty (Yale) was released by the Bruins too and sent back to Manchester (ECHL). A slew of El-Mir’s Hockey East opponents have all signed pro deals this week. Boston College saw Michael Kim and Chris Brown both sign with Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL). Casey Fitzgerald (Buffalo-NHL/Rochester-AHL) and goalie Joseph Woll sign with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and a report from TSN’s Bob McKenzie says that freshmen, Oliver Wahlstrom, has told BC he will turn professional and is working on a deal with the New York Islanders and may wind up with the playoff-bound Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Woll’s departure will allow Darien’s Spencer Knight (US National Development Team) and one-time Avon Old Farms product to head to BC. He will likely be a first or second round pick in this upcoming summer’s NHL Draft in Vancouver. Boston University, saw top-end defenseman, junior, Dante Fabbro sign with Nashville. Free agent center DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to a one-year, $5.3 million contract with the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple reports on Monday. Cousins’ salary represents the taxpayer mid-level exception.

According to an ESPN report, Cousins narrowed his choices to the Warriors and Boston Celtics before picking Golden State.
Cousins, who turns 28 in August, is recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon sustained in January. Prior to the injury, the Pelicans were expected to offer him a max-level, five-year contract this offseason, but the severity of the issue was expected to depress his market significantly. Now he will have the opportunity to repair his value on a one-year contract before hitting the market again next offseason.
Before his injury, Cousins was averaging 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game through 48 games with the Pelicans, figures that have never been reached by one player in a single season in NBA history. It was his first full season in New Orleans after the Pelicans acquired him in February of 2017 for a package including Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and a first-round pick.
—The Los Angeles Lakers continued the remolding of their club by agreeing to a one-year, $9 million deal with veteran point guard Rajon Rondo, according to multiple reports.
Rondo’s deal comes one day after the Lakers landed LeBron James in free agency. Los Angeles also added veteran big man JaVale McGee and swingman Lance Stephenson and retained shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on Sunday.
Adding the 32-year-old Rondo makes for a unique situation, as Los Angeles selected point guard Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall choice in the 2017 draft. Ball is currently rehabbing a torn meniscus in his left knee and is expected to be ready for training camp, while Rondo is approaching the situation as if the starting position is up for grabs, according to multiple reports.
—Shortly after becoming an unrestricted free agent, Julius Randle found a new employer by agreeing to a two-year, $18 million deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to multiple reports.
The Los Angeles Lakers renounced their $5.56 million qualifying offer to Randle earlier in the day to clear space to sign ex-Pelicans point guard Rajon Rondo, paving the way for the 23-year-old Randle to quickly find a new team.
Randle averaged a career-high 16.1 points last season while also averaging 8.0 rebounds and playing all 82 games.
—Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver and general manager Ryan McDonough are meeting with guard Devin Booker and his agent on Tuesday in Los Angeles to discuss a contract extension, according to multiple reports.
Booker, 21, is eligible for a five-year extension worth up to $158 million as he enters the final year of his four-year rookie contract. The 13th overall pick in 2015, he made $3.3 million last season.

Booker averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds last season, setting career highs by a comfortable margin in each category. Through three seasons, he has averaged 19.8 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 32.2 minutes per game.
—As LeBron James leaves the city of Cleveland for a second time, so too will the iconic banner bearing his likeness.
A day after James’ representatives confirmed he had agreed to a four-year, $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, it was announced that the massive James banner that hangs downtown will come down.
The 10-story billboard covers part of the side of the Sherwin-Williams global headquarters and shows James, in his No. 23 Cavs’ jersey, with his arms outstretched. A spokesman for the paint company said Nike will remove the banner this week, and Sherwin-Williams does not yet have a plan to replace it.
—Celtics forward Gordon Hayward recently resumed running after his second ankle surgery, Boston president of operations Danny Ainge said.
Ainge said the latest procedure was to remove a plate and screws from Hayward’s left ankle.
Hayward broke the ankle in the first quarter of the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His recovery was progressing until he felt soreness in the ankle. The complications led to the second surgery in late May.
—The Philadelphia 76ers have re-signed free-agent guard JJ Redick to a one-year deal in the neighborhood of $12 million to $13 million, according to ESPN.
In his first season in Philadelphia, Redick averaged career highs in points (17.1) and rebounds (2.5). He also made 42 percent of his 3-point shots and more than 90 percent of his free throws, starting in all 70 regular-season games in which he played.
—The Oklahoma City Thunder will sign free-agent center Nerlens Noel to a two-year contract with a player option in the second year, according to a Yahoo Sports report.
In five seasons, Noel has averaged 9.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 223 games (158 starts). He played in just 30 games (six starts) last season, averaging 4.4 points and 5.6 rebounds, missing significant time because of a torn ligament in his left thumb that required surgery in early December.
—The Utah Jazz have agreed to re-sign forward Derrick Favors on a two-year deal worth $36 million, according to multiple reports.
In his eighth NBA season, Favors averaged 12.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 28.0 minutes per game across 77 contests (all starts) for the Jazz in 2017-18.

Tolliver’s salary will be $6 million, according to multiple reports. The 33-year-old averaged 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 79 games (14 starts) for the Detroit Pistons last season.
—Veteran point guard Jose Calderon will sign a one-year, $2.4 million free agent contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to multiple reports.
With the Cavaliers last season, Calderon played in 57 games (32 starts) and averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 assists in 16.0 minutes per game.
—The Golden State Warriors signed first-round draft choice Jacob Evans, the team announced. Terms of the deal weren’t divulged but spotrac.com reported it as a two-year, $3.37 million contract with two club options totaling $5.07 million.
Evans, 21, was the 28th overall selection in the recent NBA draft. The 6-foot-6 guard played college basketball for Cincinnati.
—Seth Curry and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a two-year, $5.6 million contract, according to multiple reports.
Curry, 27, averaged 12.8 points for the Dallas Mavericks in 2016-17 before missing all of last season with a fractured left tibia. He is the younger brother of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry.
—The Indiana Pacers waived veteran center Al Jefferson, according to multiple reports.
Only $4 million of Jefferson’s $10 million salary for 2018-19 was guaranteed. The 33-year-old averaged 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game last season.
—Mike Scott agreed to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to multiple reports.
Scott, 29, averaged 8.8 points in 76 games (one start) with the Washington Wizards last season. He spent the first five years of his NBA career as a reserve for the Atlanta Hawks.
