ᴹᴱᵀᴬ . SARASTUS' ARMOR :

this has been something i have been meaning to dive into for a long time, &. now, since certain things have been fixed &. i was able to take proper screenshots, here we go! in this meta, i am diving into sarastus' armor design, symbolism, &. also showcase azem's attire, though since the ancients dressed the same, i am showcasing her mask more ; significant as a member of the convocation, &. for sarastus as the seat of azem.

* 1. HELMET : something unbeknownst to her when first awakening to the sundered world without her memories, was derived from the mask of azem. * 2. ARMOR : an armor made of gold, mixed with fabric of black robe. into the armor itself is also carved azem's symbol, though this detail as well can be very subtle, as the armor part itself has a lot of engravings carved into it. there is also black leather embedded into the armor, providing swift movement. * 3. LEGS &. FEET : she wears black pants, the golden details are part of an armor she clips on. her boots are a mix of black leather, &. golden armor as well, engraved with a symbol of something akin to wings, that can be symbolic of the way she traversed across the star. the symbolism of this all is very much how sarastus is the balance between the light &. dark, both when needed to be. ( her name deriving from a word with a same meaning, the first light in the darkness. ) gold, yellow, orange are colors are associated with her because of her association with the sun, &. light in general, ... those colors later present even in the crystal carved by e.met - selch in secrecy, as sarastus had abandoned her seat due to the route the convocation took during the first final days. the mixture of armor &. robe, it is a mixture of the past &. present in itself ; signature black robe now mixed with golden armor of a warrior. what is also note worthy, is the way when ardbert's spirit collides with her soul once more at the end of shadowbringers arc, the final fight against emet - selch, sarastus hairstyle reverts back to its' original length &. style ; as her soul is now whole.

ARMOR CHANGE AT THE END OF ENDWALKER ARC.

* NEW ARMOR : azem's symbol still present upon her chest, the armor is more significantly golden. the armor itself is more ethereal, symbolizing that at the end of endwalker arc, sarastus has embraced her past fully, &. come to terms with who she is. she can both long for the world that was, but continue to fight to protect this one. a vow made in secrecy, to hope for a way to reunite with those lost, as well. it is a start of new arc, &. a new journey, with details still carved of her whole, true - self present. her boots are made of golden metallic material, as are the arm - pieces. on the back, she wears a sheer, golden-ish cape. because, i do not have the full set in my inventory yet, i had to borrow few pictures from eorzea collection.

AZEM'S ATTIRE

* ATTIRE &. MASK : the ancients all wore robes similar in design, although their color might have varied, but rarely so, even among the convocation. ( the previous azem, sarastus' mentor had chosen a theme of white &. blue for herself, for example. ) sarastus too, wears a black robe. the difference is her mask, that carries the significance of her as the seat of azem. on the forehead, there is the symbol of azem carved upon it, resembling the sun, due to her affiliation with it, as the light in general.

Einige von ihnen teilten ihr Brot miteinander, andere hielten ihre Schwerter und Bögen in Stand und wieder andere durchbrachen die Stille und als Gemurmel waren ihre Stimmen kaum weiter als ein paar Schritte zu vernehmen. „In den nächsten Tagen wird Lleterra bestimmt von potenziellen Heiratskandidaten überrannt, es hat sich doch schnell herum gesprochen, dass unsere Prinzessin ihr heiratsfähiges Alter erreicht hat. Für uns bedeutet das, dass wir die Grenze noch besser bewachen müssen, wir müssen unsere Prinzessin schützen.“ warf einer den Soldaten ein. Markante Gesichtszüge und tiefliegende Augen wanderten über die Riege der Elfen, machten unweigerlich klar, dass jeder hier dazu bereit sein musste sein Leben für die Prinzessin zu geben. „Ist es nicht verrückt, wie schnell die kleine Prinzessin erwachsen geworden ist, manchmal kommt es mir vor als wäre es gestern gewesen, dass König Arvan und Königin Thravia die Geburt ihrer Tochter verkündet haben.“ warf ein weiterer Elf ein, hellbraune Haare umrahmten sein Gesicht und die laubgrünen Augen hoben sich für einen Moment von der Schneide seines Schwertes. „Wir wurden gesegnet mit einer Tochter, die die Sonnenstrahlen in jeder ihrer Haarsträhnen beherbergt, die die Elemente Erde und Wasser in ihren Augen ein Zuhause gibt. Deren Aura heller leuchtet als das Licht der Sonne selbst.“ zitierte einer der Soldaten die Worte des Königs, die sich bei jedem Bewohner des Reiches in das Gedächtnis gebrannt hatte. Zunehmend vermischten sich die Stimmen mit einander, das Gemurmel wurde dichter und jeder schien den perfekten Plan zu haben die Prinzessin zu schützen. Doch unbemerkt von allen Elfen hatte sich in etwas Entfernung einer kleiner weißer Fuchs im Dickicht des Waldes niedergelassen, den Kopf auf seinen Vorderpfoten abgelegt und den buschigen Schwanz unter den Bauch geschoben. Seine Ohren waren gespitzt, jedes Wort drang zu ihm heran und die kleine, feuchte Nase kräuselte sich etwas, genau wissend dass er in den nächsten Wochen Gesprächsthema Nummer eins sein würde, wenn auch in seiner menschlichen Gestalt.

Sahéra Anornuith, geboren als Tochter des Königspaars Arvan und Thravia im Königreich der Sonne (Lleterra), gesegnet mit goldblonden Haaren in dem sich die Sonnenstrahlen widerspiegeln und zwei verschiedenen Augenfarben die ihre Verbundenheit zu den Elementen (Wasser und Erde) widerspiegeln, bewandert in der Kunst des Bogenschießen und im Besitz magischer Fähigkeiten die es ihr ermöglichen das Wasser und die Erde zu nutzen, gebunden an eine Aura die das Licht bündeln kann, um sich schützen, Gestaltwandlerin, die in der Gestalt eines weißen Fuchses durch die Wälder und Berge streift, Thronfolgerin des Königreichs der Lichtelfen

what is so interesting to me about aegon is that he does not want to rule. everyone else does, they do all of this under the pretense he is the better fit for the crown. once he begins to feel like a king and decides to make decisions, they all think he is not good enough. the delicious way the narrative puts both aegon and rhaenyra in season two as parallels in the way their councils look down on them instead of down. how different and how similar they are. the moment aegon wants to seek his own decisions, they decide he is unruly.

four days till my chemistry final and i still have half a topic to recover 😬. i'm gonna go over iupac rules + nomenclature today, as well as revise organic pathways!

around seven or so days until my biology final and i only need to cover speciation and macro/micro evolution—then it's onto practice exams!

i'm so close to the end, and i'm confident i'll be able to pull through!

ᴹᴱᵀᴬ . SARASTUS &. STRENGTH :

Sarastus, ever since awakening from the long slumber, had the duty as the warrior of light placed upon her shoulders. it started with small deeds, something so mundane many would just have ignored those in need of help &. carried on. but not her. from the very start, she was lending her strength to those, who needed. &. of course as things progressed, more &. more was demanded of her. &. more &. more did she give of herself.

it is something that has been present ever since the times that the star was whole, the way Sarastus radiated strength, one look at her soul &. one could see from its' colors, the brightness of it that she had potential within her, potential to become successor to Venat, to become the next Azem.

even back then when ' there was no need for heroes, ' Sarastus was one. it is what she has always done, taken fights not her own upon her shoulders, protecting even the smallest of lives, fighting for the balance of the star. seeing this, &. knowing that Sarastus was indeed like the sun : both gentle, warm, &. kind, but also, when need be, ruthless &. fierce in the way she could defeat those she must, ... all of this played into the way Venat saw the potential in her. &. when she didn't take any side during the debate of how to proceed in the final days, but instead choosing to fight it all in her own way ( like hythlodaeus said ) it proved to Venat she is fit to be trusted with the weight of the soon to be shattered worlds, to become her champion, the warrior of light.

Which leads me to talk about how much is placed upon Sarastus' shoulders. the events during the ARR - arc, ( her re - awakening ) were a starting point to it all : from acts of kindness &. heroism, quickly that potential within her was seen, &. it was made known she was Hydaelyn's chosen champion. this of course, made others to entrust even more weight upon her shoulders, as she was deemed the only one who could take on the toughest fights. it came with a certain loneliness, this duty of hers. she had the support of her allies, her friends, her found family ... but, despite being loved, there was still that loneliness. something that could not be understood by others.

every fight tougher than the other, mentally &. physically, yet she pressed on.

' even should you lose all that is dear to you. even should it cost you your life ... you bear the burden and fight on, kicking and screaming until your last breath is spent. '

i do not think Sarastus was ever the naive - type to see the world as black &. white, as from the very beginning of her re - awakening, as she began it all by being able to fight primals unlike anyone else to her level, it was clear that there were gray colors to everything. there is no default good and bad, as later proven during Shadowbringers - arc, the scions travel to the first that proved that even too much light is destructive. this in itself, made the weight of fighting these certain battles all the more painful. while she wanted to save everyone, some were beyond saving, such showcased the best when she was forced to kill both hades / emet - selch &. themis / elidibus, who used to be her dear friends, members of the convocation alongside her in her past. a fate worse now, that she had her memories back. this all, the final days that happened again, having to travel back in time to see it all happen then as well, all of these strained Sarastus extremely hard mentally, &. though she is good at hiding it, it was obvious something weighed heavily on her mind. so her immense strength is not also physical but also mental, to be able to handle all of those things mentioned above in itself : though i always want to emphasize that she was extremely affected by it all mentally, &. it really took a huge toll on her, yet she pressed on, because she had to, &. because she still could. because there were still people she wanted to protect. there was no time to be weak or genuinely grieve, it was time to forge ahead.

she in truth, must shoulder so much. not only the weight of one realm, but others too. &. this is to say, she chooses to. she chooses to bear the burden, despite how heavy it weights upon her shoulder. not only because she thinks ' if not me, then who? ' but also, because she genuinely wants to. she wants to save others, she wants to fight for this world : for those she loves, for those she has lost. she is the strongest, &. she is fine with giving everything she has, till there is nothing left of her to give.

QUIRK STUDY: Pigment Manipulation

This study revolves around a quirk I invented for the My Hero Academia Universe to be used by a character I also created to be part of the same universe. The study's purpose is to explain the quirk's story, capacities, limits and show outcomes and variants of being used by a professional hero, specifically by Shimori Kizatachi (the oc in question).

I do not own My Hero Academia or its rights, this was made with entertainment purposes only. However, this idea is entirely my property and you're not allowed to steal it nor reproduce it anywhere.

PIGMENT MANIPULATION allows the user to manipulate pigments freely as long as they're nearby and at their sight, making possible for them to change the shape and consistency of the objects attached to these pigments according to how malleable the object is, as well as they can extract the pigments of said objects if they ever have/need to. Although they can’t manipulate every existent pigment, there’s a range of pigments the user has control over, from artificial inks and dyes, to natural pigments. Shimori, pigment manipulation's most recent user, commonly relies on (wet) ink because it’s malleability makes it easier to control than other materials (and therefore, the reason she is called the Ink Hero)

Her quirk allows her to control pigments, ink has pigments so Shimori can control ink.

A bit of history behind this quirk. Pigment manipulation during its first generations of users, it was common to see users controlling mainly natural pigments, which Shimori, the most recent user, seems to have a hard time with. The reason behind is because Shimori’s ancestors users of pigment manipulation had children with quirkless partners or partners’ whose quirks didn’t particularly enhance pigment manipulation (like Rei Todoroki’s “Frost” did to Enji Todoroki’s “Hellflame”.), therefore, there was a slight regression throughout generations resulting in Shimori not being able to manipulate all types of natural pigments, leaving her only capable of controlling melanin.

So, pigment manipulation grants control over pigments, allowing the user to, rather: 1) handle at will the object attached to them 2) extract the pigments from said object. The first option comes handy in situations where the user wants to control any object that has any of the pigments the quirk allows them to manipulate (like a car or a wall that's falling), they would have a hard time bending said things, but hold them in place or throwing them out of the way? Absolutely. The second option, however, is not commonly used by Shimori, but if it were the case, it could be mostly used outside of hero work, for example, to obtain dyes without going through the entire extraction process (chromatography) or the manufacturation of artificial dyes. It sounds useless first-hand, but some users had found use to it, Naoko Kizatachi, Shimori's father, for example; both him and his spouse, Hiroko Kizatachi, are hobbyist artists and Naoko uses pigment manipulation to obtain natural dyes from different sources to use on their paintings, turning into an efficient and economical fount of material.

Now the reason why Shimori chose to stick around ink is quite simple. As I said before, ink is a very malleable material, bending it is very simple. Shimori can change its shape and consistency very easily allowing her to launch middle range attacks, create weapons for close range combat, create transport (she commonly bends ink into a board and controls it to transport her or creates strings to swing among buildings), create capture weapons by hardening ink or thickening it into a viscous substance similar to tar, rescue people by holding them with ink ropes/platforms, etcetera.

If you're familiar with Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra, you'll notice pigment manipulation is very similar to metalbending:

Overall, pigment manipulation is a very interesting quirk, enhanced correctly, it can reach and surpass the user's limits, meeting with a powerful and useful power capable of the unimaginable, useful in more than one way and reliant in every situation.
