cyberlife putting magnets in connors feet is canon to me now. i left the fandom some time ago, now im back, so i can enjoy all the fanworks that came out while my brainrot was dormant. but im so shocked at how widespread the notion that hankcon is problematic now is. it was the main ship a couple of years ago? and now the main tag is flooded with negativity. and idk if my claims hold any water, but i feel like the dynamics that were quite commonly used for hank x connor now are used for reed900? when did this fandom decide that two characters which 1) appear rarely and only to be an asshole and 2) doesn't even have any lines are a better ship than those two bastards who are literally insane about each other? (none of their interactions are normal, but its so in character for both of them, i love it) anyway, i hope you didnt have to experience any of said negativity and are doing well, cause i loved your fanfics <3
Honestly I forget that Connor’s magnet feet aren’t canon—how that clumsy-ass android who botched a barrel-roll into a first story window managed to keep his feet planted on a moving train is the biggest plot hole in all of DBH.
Welcome back to the fandom! Sometimes I wish I had been here from the very beginning, because even when I showed up in 2020 it was like this. I remember wandering into the ship tag, naive and desperate for conktent, and finding nothing but “hankcon shippers are perverts” and literal comparisons between a thirty year old man and a six year old boy 🥲 I pretty much avoided tumblr entirely because of it and stayed exclusively on twitter the first couple years! (RIP.) I feel like tumblr has actually gotten better since then? That said, in the four years I’ve been here I’ve somehow managed to avoid any direct hate, probably partially through luck and partially because I’m not afraid to use the block button. It’s never personal, it’s just that I am here for one thing and one thing only and that is old man yaoi. I would also advise staying off of ig and tiktok for fandom content because good god, people are MEAN over there.
As for reed900, the ship doesn’t really do much for me personally, but one thing that I really love about it is that it’s basically fanfiction of fanfiction. Like, fans basically created that ship and even their characters out of next to nothing, and made something so compelling that it’s now the fandom’s most popular ship on ao3! That is so cool! As someone who doesn’t care about the DBH canon like, at all, and is way more into the fans’ creations and creativity, I have a deep appreciation for reed900 shippers even if I don’t subscribe to their newsletter.
I do agree that it’s very similar to the hankcon dynamic, which, who can blame them? It’s a great dynamic. And I don’t begrudge anyone for not wanting to ship Hank and Connor. But when it comes to people who ship reed900 but actively hate hankcon, those who call hankcon disgusting and cry about having to see it while never seeming to take any actual steps to avoid it? I dunno, I smell ageism in their hearts, and to them I say—old people are hot, and it’s not our fault if you have bad taste in men 😌
Thank you so much for your kind words about my fics 💖
#i'm gonna go ahead and tag this#fandom wank#or like#discourse#(or whatever idk I'm old)#because it kinda contains discussions of ship wars and i don't like ship wars but i still have ✨opinions✨#cue epicqtefail's 'that's my OPINIONNNNNNN' connor#anyway#hankcon#ask

there is something to be said about the pathetic and ridiculous stansas' strawman argument that Sansa is being hated for enjoying romance and fantasy stories and songs 😂;
When i) I have never witness this, its only ever said by her stans that she gets hated for that. So much so it's her most prominent hate that has to be called out.
ii) The idea alone that she; one of the most safe character in the series: a passive status qou conforming highborn girl with the most disproportionated popularity amongst the fandom, is single out in the series and hated for THAT is so ludicrous her stans should come up with a better strawman argument. She is not in the least unique (which is were her actual problems lies) for that; a lot of female AND male character in the series do so.
iii) What takes the cake however is the hypocrisy (as always); childlike naivety is something to applaud when Sansa displays it, it makes her promising for any power role ("emBodImEnt Of hOpe foR fuTUre") a romantic idealist, but with Daenerys? Oh honey no, in that case its pathologize as megalomaniac delusion, first displayed trait of the genetic madness that slumbers within her. Sansa's qoute "If I am ever a queen, I'll make them love me" gets her rewarded with the fandom's marxist nobleprize, meanwhile Daenerys gets thousand edits from them with the qoute "the way to hell is paved with good intentions" and is a cult leader and tyran unseen before for wishing to be beloved by her subjects for her ACTUAL work and sacrifices.

SOOOO, I have a small "fandom wank" that's bothering me and I want to talk about it. Considering the doddle I attached to it you can already image what is this about and I'll not be surprised if a lot of people may not agree but eh, il mondo è bello perché è vario quindi.
I also understand that I'm just "recently" came back to the Harringrove fandom but eh, you can still skip this rant and be on your way if you aren't interested about what I'm saying so
You know, I have seen a various post about "how Billy should be drawn" and "why people use this color instead of this etc" and honestly? WHO FUCKIN CARES.
Is Billy your OC? No, it's not. We can love him as much as we want but he'll never be, let's be honest. Have you commissioned an artist to draw him in a specific way? No? Is this about an AU that you created? No? Then mind your how fucking business jeez. Everyone has their own style, and not everyone wants to draw a character to be a copy of the actor who represents them. I see so many artists drawing characters in a way that's not a copy of the orig and they are still pretty recognisable, with their own strength and energy because of that. Mind you, there is absolutely nothing wrong in deciding to draw a character in a way that's more close to the original, but even taking that road there is no need to say, multiple times, that you don't agree/you don't understand why and how other people choose to draw said character.
Everyone has their own vision of a character, a lot of artists tend to put part of THEMSELVES (literally) in those drawings and that's why they may be different from the original and that's what it makes it beautiful. Also, with all the love, he doesn't exist. He's a fictional character. I can draw him with fuckin fluo hair just because I can/want and nobody is going to get hurt for that. Draw him younger, draw him older, draw him in a completely different setting and style, WHO FUCKIN CARES. Just let ppl have fucking fun, that's what fandoms are made for ✌🏻
(I know this may seems random but stuff like this really gets on my nerves and I really wanted to let this out. That's said, do what the fuck you want and let other people do what the fuck they want with their drawings. And writings too, because honestly this applies to both)
Peace and love 🫶🏻✨
#fandom wank#kinda#i just want to complain sorry not sorry#as said before you can image seeing the doodle I attached what this is about#*imagine#billy hargrove#mangywayway

If I'm engaging with a fandom, it's very normal and okay that I don't want to see untagged child porn. People who enjoy child porn are not safe to be around. That's not a radical statement.
I promise you I could not give less of a shit about whatever fandom wank you're talking about, friend. I think that the actions that real people do in real life is a lot more important than whatever fictional characters are doing in a fictional setting. Slashers movies, fandom porn, violent video games-- I don't really care if people enjoy these things in their free time, because ✨ it's literally none of my fucking business! ✨
Learn to differentiate between real, active harm being done to other people and your own personal moral panic and disgust.

Hi Rainbowsky, hope you are well. ☺️✨
In the last few weeks there has been a lot of hate, lawsuits, hot trends etc like the usual so/o stuff…nothing new surprise surprise. 🙄 I was thinking maybe if xz or yb made a statement that there is no bad blood between them, (they don't have to come out or make it clear that they are friends privately) but more like "yeah we worked together and are still on good terms" and "please don't attack or make false rumours about the other person" would the hate die down a bit or do you think it will get worse? I know it's not their job to give brain cells to mindless so/os, but maybe it could help newer fans who joined the fandom just so they wouldn't jump on the hate bandwagon because of so/os. It must be exhausting for xz and yb with all the hate, suing accounts, planning how to avoid the other person at award show because of stupid “fans” etc.
These are just some of the thoughts I've been having over the last few days. Are my thoughts too simple? I don't know if xz or yb made a statement already or if you've talked about this before, if so I'm sorry for filling your question box unnecessarily.
thank you for reading my question 🥰 I wish u a beautiful day and enjoy your weekend ✌🏽☺️
Hi Jinniecooky! Thanks, I hope you're well too! ☺️
Unfortunately I really don't see a statement improving things. It would be too risky on various fronts and would likely only make matters worse.
These fan groups are organized, well-oiled machines - especially GG's. The leadership of these groups tells the fans what to do and how to act, they give strict guidelines on what is expected of the fans, and any fan who wants to be included has to stay in line and do, say, believe as they're told.
Part of that involves selling narratives created and perpetuated by these fandom leaders and their corporate black pr embeds. They come up with elaborate stories that cast the star as a selfless, brilliant hero who is in a grand cosmic battle against 'those who want to destroy them', often with detailed claims and photoshopped or misleadingly edited/framed 'evidence' to support those claims.
Fans get sucked into these narratives and believe with all their hearts that the stories are true. They spend countless hours online spreading these lies and battling these imagined foes. They spend all their money on endorsements - whether they can afford it or not - and all their spare time on boosting the star's numbers on every platform and in every way they can.
As a result they have a deeply rooted conceit that they know what's best for the star, that the star owes their fame and success to fans, and that their activities - as hateful as they often are - are nothing less than the devoted, dedicated, selfless, heroic hard work on behalf of the star.
A statement like this would be treated as ingratitude, and would cause a lot of uproar and anger. These toxic fans would lose a lot of face if such a statement was issued, because it would run against everything they've been and stood for up until this point. The fan groups would likely try to recover by turning against the star and their management - making an even bigger mess for the star to clean up.
As I've said many times - toxic fan culture is about power and status. It's about these fans and fan groups wanking over their star being the biggest, best, etc. The bigger and more successful the star, the more of an ego boost these fans get out of it.
Speaking against anything these fans say or do cuts into that power and status in a way that can be very dangerous. We've all seen how people who speak up against them are treated. Trust me - the star and his team would fare no better if they spoke up.
The serious, long-standing fans who are deeply embedded in fan culture - especially the leadership figures in these fandoms - often know 'where the bodies are buried', too. They've made it their business to know all the dirt on their star, all the better to keep his image clean and bury the story. These are not the kind of people a star will want on their bad side.
In many ways, stars are hostages to their fan groups. These are the people pushing to build their numbers and success, and they can be very fickle, demanding and nasty.
Not only that, a statement would only draw more attention to these battles and bring them into the mainstream where passersby would see all the dirty laundry that's currently confined mostly to fandom spaces. It could escalate everything into an even bigger scandal that could burn out of control and possibly permanently damage or destroy the star.
There's also the fact that GG and DD will not want to risk the nature of their relationship becoming a bigger public story.
And that's before we even get into the fact that they've released dozens of statements over the years - especially GG - trying to get fans into line, giving guidelines on fan behavior, etc. and these toxics have ignored every word of it.
Overall, I just don't see a statement helping at all, and would likely only make matters worse.
I've often felt their best bet would be to come out as friends in a setting where fans dare not fuck with things. For example, appearing onstage together at a nationalistic event or in a nationalistic program.
But that's unlikely to ever happen for various reasons. Appearing together would put both of them at huge risk. Such an appearance would inevitably draw a lot of attention and gossip. Even if it was mostly positive due to fans trying not to cause any trouble, GG and DD would overshadow the message and gravity of the occasion. It would make them look bad - at best, traffic stars (images they're trying to shed), at worst, disrespectful or irreverent to the government or serious occasion.
And one would have to accept the possibility that even such a serious occasion under the eye of the government wouldn't be enough to stop fan wars from happening.
At the end of the day, it's just safer for GG and DD to let things run their course and hope that these assholes eventually lose interest and move on. To accept fan wars and haters as just part of the cost of doing business.
Similarly, I think we need to just accept that haters gonna hate, and stop focusing on haters and antis. We're not here for other fans, we're here for GG and DD. If we put our focus there and block and ignore all the toxics, we can enjoy fandom - which is the entire point.

What are your privacy safeguards for contributors on this project? As you’ve probably seen, DC fandom at large is largely toxic and prone to harassment campaigns. What steps will you be taking to ensure contributors have a safe environment to collaborate on the project?
Hello! Thank you for the thoughtful question!
Safety and privacy are our top priority for everyone involved in the project. As such, absolutely no Personal Identifiable Information (PII) will be stored anywhere or distributed.
The minimum required information from a contributor we need in order to allow communication for this project is the following:
Some means of communication such as an email address, X/Twitter/Tumblr/Discord name. None of these will be stored or distributed without the consent of the contributor.
We will uphold a zero tolerance policy for any and all harassment within this project, and any harassment started outside the project as well.
All contributors will have a closed space within our planned project-focused Discord server (closed to non-contributors) where again, harassment will not be tolerated. The Discord server is an adult space and every contributor will be expected to behave respectfully during the entire collaboration period. The Discord server is a tool used for organization, collaboration and communication, where friendly interactions and casual discussions are encouraged, but participation in those interactions is a personal choice and is not necessary.
If a contributor, for whatever reason, wishes to remain largely anonymous and not have any of their contributions traceable to them, and wants no part of the eventual contributor announcements and promotion, then we can work with this. Additionally, if for whatever reason a contributor feels very strongly against joining the Discord server, then please reach out and we will organize a means of communication. Please keep in mind this offer will be provided in good faith for anyone who strongly feels they need it, please do not plan to abuse this good faith offer if you can join the server.
As interest in a NSFW bonus zine is exceedingly high, it is likely we will also be planning for that as well [subject to change decision not final]. In this case we will have locked portions of the server available only to our NSFW contributors (or those who wish to be part of the discussion and feedback) so each Zine and their goals are separated. The mod team believes very strongly in trigger warnings and use of spoiler fields and they will be used liberally if necessary.
If any contributor or potential contributor has any concerns in regards to safety or privacy please do not hesitate to reach out so we may discuss answers and offer solutions that are within reason.
Naturally, we cannot control how everyone within the fandom will behave in response to this project’s existence. We condemn harassment, bullying or general fandom wank directed towards any of our contributors, supporters of the zine, or shippers of Konbart. It is our intention that this project will be a source of joy and celebration for Konbart and will do everything in our power to keep it that way.
- Mod Orla 🦣🌌✨

hey! If you want to post something in disbelief of fandoms approach to a character or critique of a character I’d suggest not using the characters main tag. It's generally frowned upon to post character neg in the character's main tags as that’s where people go to see the character. In the future i'd suggest maybe using the tags 'Jason grace crit' 'Jason Grace neg' or 'Fandom wank'?
Hi! Thanks for the ask! I realize that the post did come off as negative from the tone but it wasn’t genuine hate. The intention of the post was to say that I like Jason Grace as a character and he’s very special to me (that’s why he’s ✨The Boy✨) but I wish he had more moments and that people liked him more. Additionally, the post wasn’t serious (as I was jokingly annoyed) but I understand if the tone was unclear, since this is the internet. I also made points in the tags why I like jason and further explaining my post, though somebody might not see that in a reblog. The only tag out of those that I feel like would fit would be “jason grace crit” but I don’t know why I would have to remove the Jason Grace tag when I didn’t post about him in a genuine negative or hateful manner. If you could further explain this to me, it would help a bunch. Thanks!

agree with nonny (for once) and aaaall of this, but especially that if nonny sees a lot of criticism, it's likely because IN THE BEGINNING ppl who like Lunter also genuinely liked Amity, too, with early lumiter content getting the most notes. Buuuut then lots of fandom wank got started up by a lot of terf limit shoppers and regulars that got swept along in the manipulative outrage (resulting in hypercritical to the point of disinformation about aaaanything regarding Hunter. I have legit seen them even call Hunter a pedophile and abuser- it was wild)
This resulted in some Lunter fans being hypercritical of Lumity (and Amity) out of spite.
Once you take the wool off people's eyes though, the underlying truth is closer to what's described here: ppl who like Lunter just want it for the ✨spice✨
Lumity had a purpose though; not everything can be as spicy as Jaspis from Steven Universe, or have momentary conflicts and resolutions from character flaws like Bubbline. It was positive rep for younger audiences and served that purpose. Which means, ppl who are mainly critical of it are outside of the show's targeted age range of audience, anyway.
may i ask why lunter shippers often criticize and/or dislike lumity so much ─ as in, the pairing itself, not the fans? it's extremely frustrating because i'm a multishipper (lumity main, but i very much love lunter too) and i don't understand why the shipping war over which one "should be true canon" isn't just one-sided from biphobes/antis/etc., because i was always under the impression that was the case. i've only ever experienced the fandom mainstream and i'm still new to spaces where shipping luz with boys, especially hunter, is acceptable. i'm curious as to why each side has negative shit to say about the other as if their opinion is absolute. hell, i'm still confused by how much people passionately hate huntlow this bad for being boring and unoriginal at worst; if it's problematic for the age gap then surely lunter is too (rhetorical)? anyway, i hope this ask comes across okay and respectful enough. i read your blog's description and pinned post so i hope i can find some answers through you.
~ bi-ship
Thank you for being so respectful!
There’s many reasons as to why Lunter fans dislike Lumity as a ship. It’s mainly due to a difference in shipping taste or out of spite since a handful of Lumity shippers are toxic (I like Lumity, it’s cute, but I fall under the difference in shipping taste category).
Lumity and Lunter are two completely different ships. One falls under the cutesy, wholesome, loving couple (Lumity) trope and the other falls under the angsty, heartbreak, storyline, and lore-based (Lunter) ship trope.
Many Lunter fans are mainly in the fandom and watch the show for the lore and Wittebane brothers, which is why they ship Lunter (for the Evelyn/Caleb parallels). If Lunter was canon, TOH would be a completely different story and have the Wittebane family as a major key to the story. But with Lumity, the story doesn’t go much into the brothers and just has a cute loving couple.
That’s where most of the criticism comes from. Lumity isn’t a ship that’s there for the lore, it’s just there for sapphic representation and normality. Also, since it was the first Disney sapphic couple involving a protagonist, it would be difficult to add it into lore-based angst since it would probably be passed as “too toxic” or whatever. That’s why they’re so lovey-dovey. Keep in mind this is just a thought. Lumity is not toxic at all, they’re just a normal couple.
With Huntlow, Lunter fans mostly hate it and criticize it for being boring and unoriginal like you said. It was rushed a lot and could have been dropped since it didn’t bring representation or relevance (Willow was never confirmed as Evelyn and they were never in-show confirmed or coded as bi/pan. I headcanon them as such but all they ever had were popular color palettes). It also depends a lot on perspective. It’s toxic to some and not toxic to others. I have a deep hate for it just for the unoriginality (bad boy turns into malewife for the shy girl that turns into a girlboss) and irrelevance but I don’t actually view it as TOXIC toxic since in my viewpoint, it’s just two normal people pushed too hard into a malewife x girlboss ship. I don’t like how Willow does sometimes resemble Belos but she’s far FAR better and healthier than Belos.
To sum this up: Lunter fans often dislike/criticize Lumity and Huntlow for being lovey-dovey, unoriginal, and not relevant to the plot. It all boils down to a difference in shipping interest. None of the ships are actually toxic (it’s mostly just people looking far too deep into them) but some people can view it as such and that’s fine as long as no one gets harassed. We all have different views.

no matter how many times you say that d&d ignored dany's flaws from the books..... it's still not going to change the fact that their directing choices regarding dany were fucked from the get go (and their overall interpretation went from a basic understanding to prioritising shock value over being true to her character) like i know you are absolutely fucking distraught about young griff and his speculated tragic ending and hate dany for occupying the place of a male character and would ascribe blood purity and other white supremacist beliefs to her character and to her fans as well because hey look buzzword! i will look smart if i regurgitate this and other shit i learned from metas without ever applying my own thinking skills to interpret the character (without my immense bias but hey who cares about that!!!) like god forbid i ever stop and think about why only dumbfucks are interacting with my posts nah nah anyway here's my daily post lauding s/nsa and her non existent leadership skills gonna go and get my next one ready after i read a few more posts hyping up her character

;) Alphabet - Takashi Mitsuya pt. 2
My post poll came in and Mitsuya HCs won 🎉
Fandom: Tokyo Revengers Letters: C, E, J, M, O Warnings: 18+, Mentions of sex, Dirty talk, GN!
[Part 1]
Enjoy ~

C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
Mitsuya doesn’t produce a whole lot of semen when he ejaculates & its usually pretty thin
He’ll cum inside you if that’s what you want but he really likes seeing his seed spread across your body
He likes pulling out and cumming on your belly and rubbing it on your skin
Also enjoys the view of his load spurting across your face, white lines dripping on your cheeks and down your chin into your lap
“You look so pretty with me all over your face.”
“I love seeing my mark on you.”
“You’re mine, aren’t you?”
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
Takashi knows what he’s doing
He only had a handful of partners prior to you, most of which where long-ish term (6+ months)
He doesn’t strike me as a guy that has a lot of casual sex, he’ll kiss and maybe do a bit of fondling and dry humping but he really likes being with a partner even if it’s a fling
Learning his partners body and what makes them tick is one of his favorite things about sex, the more you do it the more he learns how to best please his s/o
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Takashi jerks off an average amount i think, depends each week
He likes an early morning wank, especially in the shower—& that's not just to take care of morning wood
If you live apart or have to be away from each other for one reason or another he enjoys mutual masturbation & phone sex
Also might steal a pair or two of your panties to have either wrapped around his cock or pressed against his nose—but you didn’t hear that from me 🤫
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Takashi likes it when you wear pieces he has made, especially the more scandalous ones 😉
And surprising him with new lingerie/ sexy outfits and giving him a little ✨ show ✨ while he’s relaxing
Also if you’re lounging in his clothes, one of his shirts or a big sweatshirt w/o pants that will catch his eye
Being a playful brat
Bug him while he’s working he might have to take a break to teach you lesson in patience oop
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He likes both equally
Loves giving his partner pleasure with his mouth & their taste filling his mouth
His favorite way to prep his partner & he is not stranger to some light teasing
“Stop? Why would I when you sound so cute.”
“Just a little longer, Baby.”
“Won’t you cum on my tongue again?”
But he also enjoys when his s/o goes down on him
He’ll stroke your hair & praise you as he moans
“Good girl/boy”
“You’re so good to me, making my cock feel good.”
“Gonna make me cum in that pretty mouth of yours.”

Hope you enjoyed that!
💛 ~

🔥 + any shipping discourse of your choosing :D
Oh boy, at a point I noticed that so many shipping wanks in fandoms just use the same circle of ad verbatim arguments just with a different coat of paint. And for the sake of enjoying my fandom experience I prefer to stay out of such discussions as good and often as possible.
BUT...
One development I don't get is the need of canonisation of shipping. I mean sure, who of us hadn't thought that a certain relationship would have improved/made more sense for a story, especially a character arc? Sometimes bittersweetness, unused potential, or unfullfilled longing makes sense for the plot, sometimes the author is an idiot (the eternal pain of enduring shounen manga endings written by men...). However... that is what fandom's for: The possibility of transformative versions, exploring ideas canon had space for, never intended, going silly, having fun. I would love to see my blorbos smooch each other but in the end that's free time enjoyment, nothing that I need to harass a creator/creative team over.
Whereas I do think that well written stories developing relationships that stray away from the standart het couple* can speak to people, and put a foot in the door for more stories being told by creators outside the standart Hollywood demographic, they are going to be usually not as popular in fandoms themselves. The reasons can be varied although my take would be it would be the invisible undercurrents of general dismissal of female characters, especially PoC female characters, a disinterest to engage outside of big IPs in first place. That's not me policing what kind of shipping would be the "🙏moral thing actually(TM)✨", fandom is for personal interest or fun in the first place. What I do find questionable is how the way that the language of social justice activism is coopted to argue why one's blorbos should smooch each other is beyond personal gratification actually also will singlehandedly be a deciding step in [add human right's movement of your choice here], adds another layer of annoying shipping culture. Certainly, it is mean how even acknowledgement of minorities has to compete against other demographic acknowledgement which also only has a chance to tolerated, and not even of large scale, in the accessible mainstream media. Still, I don't find it weird how, by example, the mere shipping (not even canon) of an interracial couple gets dismissed by other shipping groups as "no, the character is ✨gay✨, hun, no girls allowed".
I would maybe less irked by all that if so much shipping culture recently wouldn't push for "canonisation". having one ship next to the other or liking both ships could be a perfectly fine thing within fandom but the claim that one kind of ship would be better than the other in canon, without the consideration what cultural bagage comes with dismissing some kinds of relationships).
[*I mean two able bodied, cis, beauty standart guy and gal. Next to queer relationships (not excluding any intersection either),there's so much potential in talking about cross cultural relationships, dealing with disabilities or beauty standarts, or love in old age, generally love outside the model that "romance" occurs in fast food media only when the protagonist dude meets a conventionally attractive girl and they're obligated to fall for each other based on hormones boiling alone.]
In ill thoughts, I suspect that the wish for caonisation is only partly based of the distortion of fandom as activism space. (I mean when you spend all your life time on the web in fandom instead of going out creating or commissioning others to create the progressive work you want to see - or, very subversive, actually do activism and community support work yourself.)
Another the other reason I ill-mindedly speculate on is overindulgent wishfullfillment in two forms: A) A favourite blorbo gets so much projected on, they become a distorted fanon character yet have nothing to do with canon themes. This character then becomes a an altered Gary/Mary Sue doll the fandom created for itself, uses for dollplay whereas the canon does it's own thing. So what ever happens to thematical canon blorbo doesn't meet the ideal of fanon Frankenstein-blorbo and is met with anger. B) A Variation of the point above is selfprojection on the blorbo. Say when a blorbo becomes one's personal idol. Eg, like YA romance protagonists who're so suitable for reader inserts that one could easily think they themselves were the pretty sad girl with a hot love interest. The same can be observed in fandom where blorbos undergo the same doll-fication in a more personalized edition. Then character X isn't their canon self anymore, aggressive factions of fandom claim that X absolutely has to get together with the blorbo love interest - no matter the rest of the plot. (I wish the shipping wars during GoT season 8 were my only example but oh boy...!)
Speaking of the rest of the plot... I really dislike how overtaking shipping has become in fandom spaces. Certainly, makes more sense in romance centered fandoms but in in non-romance centered fandoms, it really bugs me how during the duration of shipping wars (and for all the flimsy excuses fandoms uses in the points above) it's impossible to talk about anything else, and how distorted fandom views can get about a certain kind of ship. Maybe, two blorbos smooching is not that world shattering as it personally feels.
(Yes, this is a reminder to myself by times when fandom gets too stupid. A reality check helps by times that people getting heated about two dimensional events is still leisure time whereas financial ends and deadlines need to be met, and honestly if something bugs me, the block function of users and/or tags is a great thing. Generally, we should log off more often but that's a topic for another day...)
#Lewis ranting#Lewis' ask box management#thank you for asking! It finally became a coherent text :')

This is me giving you motivation for only as strong as the warrior next to you because I just re read it AGAIN and it’s my favorite fic in the fandom and AHHHH
Also, I was wondering if you’re planning on adding more to the series once it’s done?
Hope you’re having a good night :)
This was one of the most amazing asks I've ever received and it's taken me since it was sent on Feb 25 (and finishing the fic itself!) to be able to respond to it. 🙏👀🥰💘
THE MOTIVATION YOU SENT WAS SO DESPERATELY NEEDED!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! So amazingly flattered at 'favorite fic in the fandom', hnngh!! That means the world and I'm so glad you've enjoyed!!
And with respect to your second question... yes!! (I thought of this ask when I wrote the author's note for Chapter 10. <3) only as strong as the warrior next to you was never intended to be the last installment in "the ignorant and the weak" series; I'd always contemplated having at least 1-2 additional installments, assuming I actually made it that far.
After Caro (GRACIOUSLY AND THANKFULLY) offered to beta read, the story got better and the chances of actually finishing it got stronger. When we did a full collab together in the form of bright centers of the universe, in orbit in a fit of utter fury after fandom wank bullshit and we realized how much FUN it was to write together that way, and made the decision that future installments would be co-created.
Our intention, barring any unexpected developments, is to take a break, write a few one-shots from different perspectives, then try to tackle Din POV part 3. We also want to take some time to focus on our own and different projects, including (on my end) original work and maybe a few non-ignorant and the weak Star Wars fic while we're at it. 👀🙏
The addition of new canon in form of Season 3 will, I think, be the unpredictable factor -- new canon always poses the risk that some element will be introduced or some fandom wank occurs that impacts the fannish desire to create in ways that aren't anticipated. (No spoilers for Season 3 of Mandalorian, please!!!!) As always, real life impacts will be a factor also. But that's what we're shooting for, and I'm really excited to get started (including finally being able to watch ANDOR 😍🙏 for the first time!!!!) once we've had a chance to rest up and decompress a bit.
All of which is to say: thank you so much, yes we are!, and I hope YOU have a wonderful day also. 💖✨
