nayoung has some questions, but she doesn’t have the time to ask them. maybe later, she’ll run into cameron moon and have the chance, but practice is far more important than her curiosity, or maybe...longing for camaraderie. 

it just turns out her coworker at the convenience store she recently started working at is more than meets the eye. then again, so is she. maybe along the way, he figured out she was a trainee once upon a time, but how did she not know he was a former idol? she thought she kept a close eye on the industry, but apparently not close enough.

she only found out when she watched the first episode of next gen herself. it was shocking enough to see him in the contestant lineup at all, let alone to learn that much. who knew they had so much in common? it’s a strange coincidence. she knows multiple people on this show already though, which is also strange; thousands of audition tapes sent in, and what are the odds of so many people that know each other gathering together in one place?

nayoung isn’t a conspiracy theorist, but if she was, she might think next gen was some social experiment by the government. they tracked them and their phone and internet activity, finding out who shared friend circles and enough talent to feasibly make it on a “show” like this. she doesn’t know what it’s a social experiment for, but she figures pitting a bunch of people that already know against each other for a goal they can’t all achieve makes for better television than a bunch of strangers. probably, anyway. 

she doesn’t really believe in fate or god or anything of the like either, but the amount of coincidences are far too fucking strange, especially when she returns to her favorite practice room after a bathroom break only to see cameron moon himself.

she almost says you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me, but if nayoung knows anything it’s how to be aware of cameras. he looks like he’s just warming up, and nayoung is already taking a break, so...it’s not a bad time to talk, is it?

“hey,” she greets him first, and falls into some familiar stretches herself, even if she’s already been practicing for a couple hours. it just feels better to be doing something opposed to just standing there. “you were an idol before?” she doesn’t beat around the bush. she’s not really one for small talk anymore. “they said on the episode,” she clarifies, just in case he forgot and thinks she’s weird for knowing, let alone asking about it on camera.

Basically, Svengallop and Suri had a fling when they were both interns for a show. Suri ended up pregnant, but did NOT want to be a mother - She'd just gotten an offer to design clothes for a celebrity that she couldnt pass up. sooo Sven ended up with the foal, Cozy Glow.

Poolverse!Protagonists: Sunflare, Poolmask, and Ryeseed!

For those who haven't been following me since I (tried) to get this kicking, Poolverse (formerly known as a new generation/actual name pending) is a nextgen AU revolving around an alternate AVOS cast. It's set in the aftermath of a very different OotS where the Clans decide to abolish the borders and attempt to live peacefully...to mixed results. This is a soft reboot of it!

Major Changes

Obviously, aforementioned abolishing of the borders, but also getting rid of certain parts of the code. Cross-clan relationships are now allowed as well as medic relations, though they still face stigma from other cats.

OotS is very different, with the Dark Forest successfully capturing ThunderClan and WindClan territory. The remaining Clan members banded together in ShadowClan and RiverClan territory and fought back, succeeding in defeating the Dark Forest but losing many lives in the process.

Brambleclaw fled the Clans after the battle, opting to live as a housecat instead. Squirrelflight left shortly after, having bonded with a familiar loner and opting to live outside the borders with him. She occasionally visits ThunderClan and meets with Leafpool often.

Hollyleaf, surviving her wounds, takes the mantle of leadership at Brambleclaw's request- much to some of the members of ThunderClan's dismay. Brightheart acts as her deputy but intends to retire once ThunderClan is more stable.

A new rank has been added: courier! These cats are responsible for delivering messages that need to be sent before the next gathering. Thought of by Heathertail when WindClan cats were ordered to deliver messages between bases during the Great Battle. The role has persisted on afterwards.

Sunflare (She/Her)

Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Warrior Brief Description: The product of a brief and tumultuous affair between Heathertail and Lionblaze during the Great Battle, Sunflare is a cool, calm and collected Warrior...for the most part. Sunflare takes quiet pride in her lineage, having been nursed with stories of prophecies and grand battles, she's well aware of her father's past reputation as an unstoppable Warrior who could take on countless warriors...and secretly wonders how she can get that power for herself.

Poolmask (He/They)

Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Medic-in-Training Brief Description: A serious no-nonsense Tom who often prefers to keep silent than speak. Poolmask has a strong sense of routine and order, liking things to be just as he would leave them. While formally admiring and respecting his mothers, he finds himself grappling with a strained relationship as he grows older and begins to learn that Hollystar has been hiding secrets from him.

Ryeseed (She/He/They)

Clan: ThunderClan Rank: Courier Brief Description: A playful, mischievous, and occasionally destructive cat. Ryeseed takes her father's dry humor and her mother's boisterous spirit in stride and can often be found playing pranks on other ThunderClan cats. One of the first of a new rank, courier, Ryeseed can often be seen bounding across the lake territories, and it is how she stumbles across a sign from StarClan warning her of what's to come.

teamwork evaluation.

after her recent feedback from the judges, she’s aware this will be her greatest challenge yet. she doesn’t mind being scary. as far as nayoung is concerned, she says what’s necessary and what others are too nervous to say. could she be nicer about it? sure, but the industry isn’t nice, and some people don’t get it if you don’t put matters bluntly. 

she needs to get along with everyone, though, especially her teammates for this round. 

her teammates: hyejin and eunkyung, both of whom she had the...opportunity to encounter during her practice last round. as far as she’s concerned, hyejin needs to mind her own business and eunkyung needs to take the competition more seriously, and it seems the judges at least agree with her on hyejin. on eunkyung...they have vastly differing opinions. they called eunkyung center material. she doesn’t understand that at all, and isn’t looking forward to working with her. she’s trying to be optimistic about it, though: if the judges like eunkyung, maybe she’ll be an asset to their performance. or maybe the judges will suddenly see her the way nayoung does this round, and they’ll lose. maybe then, eunkyung will get eliminated instead of she or hyejin. 

she realizes there’s no real point in thinking about that now, though. all that matters for now is putting on the best performance possible, and. practicing as smoothly as possible. 

nayoung isn’t one to waste time. the first day they have available to work together, she gets started on the line distribution, and it’s nayoung, so her poor team has no real choice but to endure her taking charge. she listens to any requests the others have as far as lines go, then listens to the song, and watches their guide video–– over and over and over, and draws up the rest of the line distribution herself. she tries her best to be fair, but above all else keeps the quality of the performance in mind.

she and hyejin have more experience and rap skill than eunkyung, so it makes sense for them to start and end off the song; the audience will likely remember those parts the best, so they need to make sure they’re as high quality as possible. then, she tries to assign the parts that seem the hardest to either herself or hyejin, and leave the simplest ones to eunkyung. it should be easier for her to learn those and perfect them than any of the others.

once she’s done, she gathers the other two girls and sits on the practice room floor with them, and hands them lyric sheets outlining the parts she assigned for them. 

“okay. this is what i settled on. does this look good to you guys?” she honestly is open to suggestions. sure, she thinks she knows best, but it is a teamwork evaluation, and even she knows it’s important this at least looks like a team decision.
