Back(?) with two of my favorite things: a number name and a name that is also a common word! And they're both the same name!

一 is the number; it means one. It's read ひと-, ひと.つ, イチ, or イツ.

色 means color. It's read いろ, ショク, or シキ.

As a common word, 一色 is read いっしょく and it means one color or one kind (of). Figuratively, it can also mean the sole/dominating mood or the focus of attention.

As a name, 一色 is usually read Isshiki or Ishiki (and according to some sources, there's also potential for Isshoku, Ichiiro, Ichishoku, Ichijiki, Ichishiki, Hiiro, Hitoiro, Hitoshiki, Hitotsumeiro, or Kazushiki). But there's only about 9000 people in Japan with this surname, so if you can only remember one reading, I'd prioritize the common word!

全盛期を過ぎたとはいえ、未だくすみカラーや淡い色合いが幅を利かせている昨今

抗えず、ともすればワントーンで統一しがちな今日この頃

色を抑えればお手軽なオシャレ感が手に入る誘惑にそそられつつも

色の重ねや合わせを楽しむ。

手放して安寧したら

取り戻せないような気がして

色彩感覚を少しだけ派手に

ちょい派手に保っていたいと思う。

いつかブラックスクエアに辿り着くとしても

それまでは色彩を塗り重ねていく。

【企画展】ARTs*LABo COLORs 2024

グループ企画展参加の告知をさせていただきます!

この度、東京・神保町のGallery CORSO様にて2024/11/6(水)〜2024/11/9(土)の期間で行われるARTs*LABo様主催のグループ企画展ARTs*LABo COLORs 2024に参加させていただきます！

もはや恒例となった「推し色・推し画材」がテーマのグループ展！ 今回も企業様の協賛が発生する企画展となってます。様々な作家の“色”が見えると思います！

そして今回も開催期間中のスマホ画面が楽しみです。 (東京遠い…)

今回は

A4の新作1点(￥45,000 額縁込み) A4の発表済み作品2点(￥45,000 額縁込み)

64mm×89mmのミニ原画「ATC」2点(1点￥3,600 額装なし)

を展示＆販売させていただきます。

ほかの方々の素晴らしい作品もたくさん展示されますので、ぜひ興味のある方はお越しください！ (まぁ、偉そうに言える立場じゃないけど…(´・ω・`))

Group exhibition ARTs*LABo COLORs 2024

I'm pleased to announce that I'll participate in the group exhibition "ARTs*LABo COLORs 2024" organized by ARTs*LABo, which will be held at Gallery CORSO in Jimbocho, Tokyo from 11/6/2024 (Wed) to 11/9/2024 (Sat)!

The theme of the group exhibition is "Recommended Colors and Materials", which has become a regular feature of the exhibition! This year's exhibition will again be sponsored by corporate sponsors. You will be able to see the "colors" of various artists!

And again, I'm looking forward to seeing your smartphone screen during the exhibition. (Tokyo is far away…)

This time

1 new A4 work (￥45,000 including frame) 2 A4 works already exhibited (￥45,000 including frame)

2 miniature original "ATC" 64mm x 89mm (￥3,600 per piece unframed)

will be exhibited and sold.

Many other wonderful works by other people will also be on display, so please come and visit us if you are interested! (Well, I'm not in a position to say so, but…)

*We are much back to the pre-2019 format, but please refer to the official website below for more detailed information on infection control measures at the venue, etc. 　I'll be sad if someone gets any kind of illness at the venue of the group exhibition I participated in…
