Maybe I'm too harsh on Sae.

Or maybe it's just my tendency to empathize more with Rin as I'm the younger sibling in my family too.

Sae has always been the more frequent visitor from the Itoshi brothers in my train of thoughts, and yet, at the end of the day, what remains close to my heart is, "Rin didn't deserve all that." It's only after that when I remind myself, "Sae was a kid too, you know."

It's always been like that—whenever I treat the Itoshi brothers with kindness, I just become kinder to Rin.

That's why I seem to forget everyday that Sae wasn't the one who changed, it was Rin who changed.

Sae was never a polite person. He was blunt, cold-ish and straightforward as a kid too. He was arrogant from the start.

Whereas for Rin, he was the first one to step forward for a change, wasn't he?

And that's exactly what happened—Rin replaced Sae by himself. He changed his playstyle completely and became like Sae in order to fill the space he left with his departure. He replaced him in the team Sae had left and in order to do so, he changed.

And somewhere along those lines, he changed from being Sae's little brother to the World's Best Striker's younger brother.

And ironically, after their reunion, Rin changed into Sae again—he became cold, rude, arrogant and snobbish, everything he wasn't earlier.

Sae might've been the first to abandon their dream, but it was Rin who first abandoned Sae.

Listening Snow Tower: Final thoughts

I finished watching Listening Snow Tower yesterday and well while it was nice I have a whole lot of rant accumulated. The first half was quite enjoyable but I somehow lost patience during the second half so I was kind of speed watching a lot.

The main characters Xiao Yi Qing and Shu Jing Rong are truly quite something as a couple... She kept distrusting him and he would just take it without clearing the misunderstanding even when she was asking about it... He’s maybe hurt she doesn’t trust him or maybe he just can’t be bothered but argh that was infuriating. No trust no communication. Even at the end, they did it again and I was seriously questioning her love towards him. In the end, turns out it was actually a show for the bad guys. That was a very convincing show ^^”

I feel so sad for Nan Chu. He was such a good shixiong :( Why did they have to kill him off...

On the other hand, Chi Xiao Tai’s ending is not that bad. Life confinement? Looks like she can still walk around inside the tower if she was just chilling in the armory. She’s been such an infuriating spoiled brat from beginning to end. She’s been in love with the traitor for a very long time and yet because she’s a spoiled stubborn brat who won’t stop until she gets what she wants, she wanted to get her shixiong’s love and ruined everything doing that. She kept going on about how mad she was that she can’t compare to SJR but why do they always love to compare really... It’s not even a matter of who is the most beautiful or the strongest. I really don’t get women in drama sometimes... They either want to kill the rival (like that will help) or destroy everything (cause hate is better than being ignored). I guess her biggest punishment is losing the one who loved her all along due to her stubbornness.

I really don’t feel sorry for Gao Meng Fei/Qing Yu though. He was quite likeable at the very beginning but I lost all hope for him the moment he abandoned his shimei. Selfish ambitious no loyalty. He fell in love with the wrong person and that brought out the worse in him. They do make a good terrible couple though.

Another disaster of a person is Ming He. Seriously drama parents, treat your children with a bit of love. It’s either spoil them until they rot or be so harsh they become psychopaths. She latched onto the poor Qing Lan who showed her kindness and was so handsome...and would never let go. Because ofc love is being together forever with the person you love even if that person might not be willing. She’s the worst case of *I need to kill my rival*. She’s a pitiful love craved person who could have had a chance with Qing Lan if she wasn’t so crazy and vicious.

This show is truly full of foolish people. Another great and infuriating example is Gao Huang & Ye Feng Sha and Ren Fei Yang & Shi Ming Yan. Walking around in the enemy territory? Leisurely shopping? Very good idea. Maybe the first couple didn’t think they would strike in broad daylight but second couple should have learned from it.

The worst is that dark crazy SMY blamed YFS and RFY’s deaths on XYQ... I can kind of understand for RFY cause his death might feel like it was nothing since XYQ didn’t attack the Moon sect. But YFS??? How can that even be blamed on him?? The girl decided to die together with the person the Moon sect was targeting. XYQ told them to leave Moon sect territory fast but what did they do instead? Shopping. No sense of danger here. SMY wants the Tower to rush at Moon sect but she clearly doesn’t understand that rushing with no guarantee or plan is a very bad idea. RFY pretended to be Li Consort’s son for nothing indeed but that was all because of GMF who ruined the plan.

Crazy as she is, SMY even broke her own legs. And for what? I can’t believe SJR gave her the almighty sword at the end lol To be wielded by a righteous person sure. SMY is far from what I would call a righteous person. Besides, she’s a disabled little girl who can’t even wield a sword to begin with.

Best girl in this show is Qian Mei, the girl who was to be married to the Long guy. She’s such a strong person who stuck to her principles. It’s a pity the show seemingly forgot about her until the last few minutes. If anything she’s more worthy of the almighty sword.

Oh well end of my rant xD Complained a lot about this show but it was still pretty nice and visually pleasing. I particularly loved the architecture in the Tower. So elegant. Very good ost as well. And well sickly but badass ML? Yes all the way xD It even had a happy ending :D

EDIT: OMG I almost forgot about XYQ’s mother. I’m honestly surprised at how weak and useless she was all throughout the show. Did they somehow strip her of her martial arts? Or did she just lose her mind after being confined for so long? Her decision to go back to Moon sect was the worst ever. I doubt it helped at all. It just launched her husband and son on a quest to save her.

私は謙信様にさらわれ、春日山城の部屋まで連れ込まれていた。Here I was in Kasugayama Castle, after having been unceremoniously carried off by Kenshin himself and brought into his room.

Kenshin:「そんな隅におらず火鉢のそばへ来い」 [Stop dawdling by the corner, and come closer to the brazier]

MC:「ええっと、それは…」 [Er, about that…]

Kenshin:「お前が『寒くて敵わない』と言うから、寒さをしのげる場所へ連れて来てやったのだろう」 [It was you who was saying how “unbearably cold” it was; and so, I brought you to a place where you can be protected from it.]

MC:（だからって、自分の城の部屋まで連れて来なくても……！）(Even so, you really didn’t need to bring me all the way to your palace chambers….!)

下手に身動きも取れず、部屋の入口で謙信様の様子をうかがう。Standing awkwardly near the entrance of the room, I snuck a glance towards Kenshin.

Kenshin:「何か文句でもあるのか」 [Do you have a problem?]

MC:「文句というか、疑問だらけというか……。とにかく、私はここで十分ですから…」[Whether it’s a problem I have or just doubts, probably isn’t the point…. In any case, I’m fine standing right here…]

謙信が呼びかけた途端、真っ白なウサギ達がたくさん部屋のなかへ跳ねてきた。As soon as Kenshin’s voice called out; one by one, snow-white rabbits began hopping into the room.

MC:「っ、ウサギ…！？なんでっ？」 [Ra-Rabbits!? Wait, why?]

Kenshin:「こやつらがおれば火鉢など必要ない」[Now that we have them, there’s no need for the brazier]

MC:（この子たち、謙信様のペット…？いったい何羽いるの！？） (Are these his pets…? Just how many are there!?)

Kenshin:「お前達、この者を温めてやれ」 (You lot, warm this person up)

MC:「え？ あ、ちょ……わっ！わぁ……」[What? Ah, wai…. Waa! Woah…]

私は驚く間もなくたくさんのウサギに埋もれ呆然と謙信様のを見上げた。Without a moment’s notice, the army of rabbits obediently surrounded me. I looked up at Kenshin in awe, from where I sat in the middle of the bunny pile.

MC:「謙信の命令が、わかるんですね、この子たち……。飼ってるんですか？」 [They…sure know how to follow your orders…… Are you keeping them as pets?]

Kenshin:「そうではない。勝手に棲みついたのだ。」 [Not at all. They decided to live here on their own accord.]

Kenshin:「気付けば、俺のあとをついて回るようになっていた」 [Before I knew it, they multiplied and began following me everywhere.]

MC:「そ、そうなんですか……」 [I- I see….]

MC:（ウサギ対してカリスマ性を発揮するなんて…） (To think that even against bunnies, his charisma would work its charm….)

驚きとウサギのおかげで、寒さがだんだん和らいでいく。Thanks to the bunnies and my surprise, the cold I felt was beginning to subside.

MC:（もこもこして、気持ちいい………。しかも、本当にあったかい） (They’re so fluffy, it feels so nice……. And it’s really warm)

寒さが遠のいた時、一羽の子ウサギがぴくりと耳をそばだてて、謙信様の元へ跳ねていった。As the cold began to recede, one of the baby rabbits’ ears perked up, and it hopped over to where Kenshin was standing.

Kenshin:「俺はいいから、あの者を温めよ」 [I’m fine, so just go and warm up that woman.]

けれど、子ウサギは謙信様の足元にくっついて離れようとしない。The bunny, however, refused to move from where it sat, cuddling next to Kenshin’s feet.

それにつられてか、他のうさぎたちも次々に謙信様の元へ跳ねていく。As if on cue, more bunnies began to hop over to join in on the action.

MC:（ふふ、謙信さまのこと、大好きなんだな） (Aww, they really love him)

MC:「その子たちは、謙信様のそばにいたいみたいですね」 [I think they want to be with you]

Kenshin:「…物好きなやつらだ」 […They’re a whimsy bunch.]

MC:「ウサギたちはとても幸せそうですね」 [They look really happy though]

（なんだかちょっと可愛いな……）(This is quite cute, actually….)

微笑ましげ光景に自然と笑みがこぼれていく。A smile gradually escaped my lips, as I watched the pleasant scene unfold.

すると、謙信様がこちらに目を向けた。It was then that Kenshin redirected his eyes towards me.

Kenshin:「お前は、もう良いのか？」[Are you okay now?]

MC:「はい、私はもう十分です」[Yes, I’m feeling fine now.]

MC:（まだ少し寒いけど、温めてもらったし…） (Although I am still feeling a little bit cold, he did help me warm up. I owe him that much….)

そう思うものの、だんだん寒気が戻ってくる。But, even as the thought crossed my mind, I could feel the soft chill sneaking its way back.

Kenshin:「強がらなくていい、来い」 [There’s no need to act strong. Come here.]

MC:「え…？」 [What…?]

謙信様は私すぐ後ろに座ると、背中からぎゅっと抱き締めた。Kenshin sat directly behind me and proceeded to wrap his arms tightly around my waist.

突然のこと驚いて、謙信様を振り返る。Surprised at the sudden gesture, I looked back at him.

MC:「あの、なにを…」 [Uh…What are you…]

MC:（あ…）(Oh…)

ひんやりとした指先で頬を撫でられ、触れられそこがほのかに熱を帯びた。Cool fingertips gently brushed my cheek, and my skin warmed up with a lingering heat where they touched.

息遣いがすぐそばまで迫って、顔中が真っ赤になっていくのがわかる。The closeness of his breath began to feel all too real, and I knew right then just how flushed I’d become.

Kenshin:「…急に大人しくなったな」 […You’ve suddenly gone quiet]

MC:「謙信様が、急に変なことをするからでしょう…っ？」 [Don’t you think it’s because you’re doing something very odd….?]

Kenshin:「変なこと、ではない。お前が凍えないようにしているだけだ」 [It’s not odd. I’m just keeping you from freezing.]

Kenshin:「まったく、青白くなったり赤くなったり、忙しい女だ」 [Honestly. You go from pale to flushed in a matter of seconds. You’re quite the busy woman.]

MC:「それは…」 [Well, that’s…]

MC:（あなたの、せいです） (That’s entirely your fault.)

声が掠れてしまいそうで、反論を呑みこんだ���I bit down my reply out of fear that my voice might break.

鼓動が静かに速度を上げて、このままじゃ謙信様に聞こえそうだ。My heartbeat was silently increasing its tempo. If this keeps up, Kenshin might be able to hear it.

Kenshin:「…お前が動かないなら、このままだ」 […If you’re not going to move, then we’re just going to stay like this.]

MC:（あ…） (Ah…)

囁きが耳をくすぐるのと同時に、腕の力を少しだけ強められた。As the whispered words tickled my ear, I could feel his strong arms tightening their grip.

Kenshin:「今宵は、お前を俺の腕に閉じ込めておく」 [Tonight, I’ll keep you locked in these arms]

ふっと口端を上げて、謙信様が告げる。The announcement that came from his lips was all too sudden to ignore.

MC:（わけが、わからないよ……っ） (I don’t understand this……)

MC:（でも……あったかい） (But somehow, it feels....warm)

回された腕は解けず、触れ合う背中と胸板が、くっついて離れない。His arms stayed wrapped around me, the touch unrelenting. I could feel my back gluing itself onto his hard chest.

MC:（どうしてこの腕を払えないんだろう…） (How come I can’t seem to push his arms away….)

MC:（それどころか…） (Instead, I….)

鳴り止まない鼓動が、まだ寄り添っていたいと叫んでいるみたいだ。The incessant ringing in my heart seemed to be screaming as if it wanted more; as if it wanted to be closer to him.

Ookaay. I’m fine with NPC name change, really. But if you want to change the name, CHANGE IT ALL. 

Edit: Add the original names. The original name might be messier than first localization, or dev too lazy to think the name of random NPC. Most of them using Chinese name or chinese-spelled-western name (idk what it called).  Well... MiraLand continent itself is based on China/East Asia... although contradict with each Nation characteristic, using Chinese name is make sense somehow... Turns out, for example, just because Pigeon is based on (Nikki’s real world) Europe old times does not means the citizen is (Nikki’s real world) European and have (Nikki’s real world) European style name.... (although some Pigeon character did have European (fantasy) name...)

When I played Nikki first time, I actually want to rant about the NPCs name.

The Cloud Empire is based East Asia, of course it normal for them to have Chinese-like name. BUT LUNAR?

Apple Federal seems like usual modern city, and very similar with Nikki’s world (China), but that doesn't guarantee they will have Chinese name, or even western-like name... BUT Yvette AND KIKI?? (I actually have a bit difficulty remember some NPC names because their name is sooooo common. Timi, Kimi, Kiki, Vivi, Hi... ka, Yasu, Aron, Toto, Aiko (4 letters)... That’s why I’m happy about the change, at first...) It feels like the parent doesn't think much for the elder sister (or daughter) :’)

Both Yoko and Bobo are weird too. And the Lilith Kingdom Queen’s name, Nanari also weird if you think that Lilith is based on western fairy tale. Nanari, Kaze, Hika, Yasu, and Yoko sounds a bit Japanese.. and then you have ROYCE. Hiki’s new name Neva kinda match with the country, but Bobo... unless it turns out Yoko/Bobo is half Cloud I might frown at it too... not because it sounds stupid, but because context.

It’s really too bad I don’t have any information about the original name (except for Nikki (Nuan), Momo (Mumu), and Lunar (Ling Luo). The original name might be messier than the first localization tho...

任天堂、また同性恋愛要素で揉めてない？

※腐女子的観点が強い記事です。 　また、私は『ファイアーエムブレム風花雪月』を遊んでいません。 　憶測で記事を書いている部分もあり、ご注意戴きたく思います。

　『ファイアーエムブレム風花雪月』、ファミリーコンピュータ時代から続くFEシリーズの最新作であり、巷ではある要素で話題となった。 　それは……「同性で恋愛ができるらしい」という事である。 　前作でも同性恋愛はできた様子だが、男女１名ずつ（？）、しかも女性キャラに至っては「カワイイモノに見える薬を飲む」という表現があり、「これどうなの？」と海外版で削除されるというトラブルがあった様で。

　今作はどうなのかと言うと、蓋を開けてみれば「結婚/恋愛」できるキャラクターは全てという訳ではなく、一部のキャラであった……ことが今、英語圏のユーザー間で議論となっている。 　そして、任天堂がこの“同性間の恋愛要素”で大きくモメるのは、先に述べた『ファイアーエムブレムif』、そして『トモダチコレクション新生活（海外名：Tomodachi Life）』に次いで三度目である。

　炎上の仕方もなんだか各々似ていて、

　同性恋愛要素ある？！　→　実は無かった（一部だけだった）

　という大体同じ轍を踏んでいます。 　諸事情により一切無くなった上、同性愛をバグと捉えられるような不用意な発言をした『トモダチコレクション新生活』に比べ、「同性で恋愛できるキャラも居る」は進歩とも見えるかもしれません。

■歴史的に見て 　世界一売れている書籍、『聖書』の中では同性恋愛を推奨していない。そしてそれは2019年現在でも（これは本当に宗教を揺るがしかねない勢いの国際的な問題として）議論となっています。 　歴史を考えても、人＝労働力ととらえれば、現代と比べ、「人を生み育てないと国力が育たない」に直結し、国家をとして“同性の恋愛を禁止”している場所もありましたし、今もありますし、それについても議論され続けています。 　今回、ファイアーエムブレムの問題で燃えているUKも、同性恋愛をする者に対して「風紀を乱す。どちらかが女性ホルモンを投与しなければならない（女性ホルモンが性欲を抑えると考えられた）」という非人道的な考えがあり、アラン・チューリングという数学者が逮捕され、その刑に処されました。後に、英政府は謝罪し恩赦され、2019年、彼の肖像がポンドに印刷され、流通することが決まっています。

　もう一つ、歴史上、王様が何故王様たるかについてなのですが、 　これは最初に「王」と名乗った人物が「神に命じられた」「神が遣わした」「神のごとき強さ」という神秘主義的思想に基づく場合が多く、その神によって命じられた人物の子だから「王子」という世襲となる場合があります。シンボルとして血（遺伝的要素？）が大事だと考えられたのだと思います。 　この考えは啓蒙により、「アイツ自身が神に命じられたわけでもないのに、何で王様なの？」という議論を呼び、君主政治が根底から揺らぐ事となります。

　また、ルイ14世の弟フィリップ等、同性愛者（と言うより、男性との恋愛が奔放である人物という言い方の方が正しいと思いますが）として有名な人もいます。 　ちなみに妻と子も居ます。世継ぎを生み、その世継ぎが国を助けることが大事ですから。

■ファイアーエムブレムの世界観 　ファイアーエムブレムの世界観はどうしても中世（ナポレオン時代より前だろう）、且つ、宗教色が強く、公式サイトを見てもその宗教が物語の要となりそうであり、国によっては確実に信仰の関係で同性恋愛出来ないキャラクターも居ることと思う。 　今回ニンテンドーUKが呟いた黄色いキャラクターは「レスター諸侯同盟」という共同体の中心人物の跡取りで、３キャラの中では一番、宗教にしばられなさそうなポジションであると捉えました。 　ただ、跡取りですからね……、結婚して子供を産まないといけないキャラであるということでしょう。 　ちょっと気になってネタバレ覚悟で恋愛要素について調べてみたところ、同性の恋愛に関して、

　女×女　５キャラ 　男×男　３キャラ 　と、かなり偏りがあるのではないかという情報も流れています。 （しかも男×男の場合、同年代のキャラクターは１人なのでは…）

■どうしたらよいのか 　もうはっきりと「恋愛できるキャラ」を発表する以外この問題を防ぐ事は出来ないと思うのですが、ゲームの中に宗教と恋愛で揺れる描写をより含むと納得する人は多く居ると思います。 　古い手法（？）でいえば、「俺が女だったら～」とかそういうセリフを入れる、葛藤するシーンがあるだけで印象が違います。 　作中にそういうシーンはあるのでしょうか。英語記事のなかに「宗教的な忠臣として遣える事を誓わされた」とあったので、そうじゃないんだよ！ 　俺/私はオマエが好きなんだよ！　が積み重なった結果燃えたようにも思えました。

　私がこの同性間の恋愛要素に触れなければならないのは『トモダチコレクション新生活』好きな人間として、前回の問題から果たして改良されているのか、という事を知っておかなければならないという一種の使命感故のものです。 　今回の結果は複雑なものがあります。 　同性恋愛できるキャラクターが増えたことをプラスととるべきか、全部のキャラクターをそうすべきと唱えるのか。私は��ャラクターの個性として「できないキャラも居る」ことは歓迎します。ただ、女性と男性に偏りがあることは、 　なんでじゃゞ(ﾟДﾟ#)ノ　と眉を顰めています。 　あと、もう少し居ても良いのではないかという思いもあります。公式のキャラクターもう少しいますからね。 　 　我々が今、LGBTQに対する意識の刷新をしているように、それに対する抵抗もまた事実で、ファイアーエムブレムに果たして恋愛要素が必要なのかという硬派な議論にまで行きつく可能性もあるかもしれません。 　ただ、『おっさんズラブ』や『昨日何食べた』など、流行という側面もありますが、受け入れられつつあるドラマ界と比べると、ゲーム界の遅さは気になります。

　ユーザーとしては与えられたものを享受するしかないのですが、腐女子の視点から言わせてもらうと、「長い長い砂漠を歩き、水を少しずつ与えられ、それを目の前で取り上げられた時どうなるか」という事です。 　血が砂漠に染み込むことでしょう。

　同性恋愛要素の少なさというのは長い長い砂漠の時期で、「この作品では同性愛要素もありますよ」という宣伝が少しずつ与えられた水、目の前で取り上げられた水は「やっぱりなかったです」という瞬間です。

　水がうるおい続ける場所は、それはそれで問題が起こります。　 　ただ、砂漠は続くだろうなという思いはあります。

With the way Rin was shown till that point, I was actually scared for Hiori because I thought Rin was going to shook off Hiori by saying, "Fuck off!" Like, it just seems very plausible for his character, but then he surprised me!

It seems so bittersweet that when Sae gave validation to Isagi, he mentioned Rin too like, "He saw through your instincts too." Like, in simple words, "You looked through my little brother's instinct too? Now that's some good shit!"

It's kinda a subtle way of Sae giving Rin validation too like, "He is a solid player! How I know? Oh because he saw through your gameplay."

If I'm not wrong, then he is the first person to be shown as someone who broke free from the chains. Meanwhile, everyone who is shown with chain in the volume covers still hasn't been shown as breaking free from it.

So, does those chain represent things that are holding them back from being their true self?

But there are certain things in the volume covers that couldn't be ignored, like:
