Hey remember when I swore up and down I wasn't going to liveblog my entire rewatch? Good times.

Because it's a rewatch, I don't comment on every plot point and I often mention things that happen later in the show--in other words, these might be confusing if you haven't seen the show yet.

🎢 Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Oof, I feel like this one is highly subjective, but I'm gonna go with Hic sunt dracones. Ppl have repeatedly told me that they started it for the porn but actually stayed for the plot, that they loved the characters and that the action scenes had them at the edge of their seats (which I'm particularly proud of bc I never considered action scenes to be my strong suit before this fic).

I'm hoping that Possession will turn out to be a similar ride once finished.

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

I'm usually a "complete silence" type of writer (instrumental music very, very rarely) bc I get distracted if too much is going on. I do have "mini playlists" for most of my fics though, in that I have 1-5 songs I associate very strongly with that fic and will listen to on a weird autistic loop, often before writing, to get in the mood.

These past few days it's been "Living on a Prayer" again, bc of this drabble specifically.

I finished Arcane and here are a few things I'd like to say...

The Ending instantly hit Me (I wanted to cry so bad around that ending due to feels)

Am I the only one who can relate to Jinx? Cuz part of Me feels like I can at least relate to her in some sort of way

WHAT!? Sky instantly gets killed right away?! I was hoping for some potential between Her and Viktor and that gets instantly thrown out right away?

So far, I really liked the show and some of its characters. I play not have played League of Legends as much as you do but as I've read, LoL came out like long before Arcane sooooo you don't suppose Season 2 is gonna end up much like the Game, right?

I’m not surprised with your feelings with Jinx. She’s easily one of the juiciest characters in the piece and she is given nuance to her struggles.

Yep! And I have a hunch as to why. First— Viktor now is faced with a dilemma, his efforts to push progress to save his skin got Sky killed. And he never even knew she loved him until he read her diary. It’s a mirror back to Jayce too after he raid’s the factory and accidentally kills Renni’s son. Both men of progress have now got spilt blood on their hands.

But! Lore wise as a prediction for season 2, we never get to see what Sky’s project was. I think it’s Blitzcrank the robot. Once Viktor survives the nuke, he’ll take what he needs and completes her work for her. Sort of making the son they never had. In lore, Blitz sort of treats Viktor like a dad.

Funny enough I have NOT played League of Legends. Most folks I’ve spoken to who have told me if I love Arcane I SHOULD NOT play the game. But I love the folklore, so I’ve listened in on that to get possible hints on what to expect for later. It’s not one for one. Arcane is a prequel of sorts, but it takes liberties to rewrite stuff to fit as a show instead of a game. Which I love.

All and all, “All I want for Christmas is season 2” 🎵 🎶 — which is coming hopefully next year!

Catching Up: Now U Know Gaming

This one isn't a particularly important update, but it illustrates how much work goes into even smaller projects behind the scenes – and it comes with a little story!

Shortly before moving back home from college, I went to MAGfest 2017 with a close friend of mine (who is no longer on social media, so I can't link anything here). Instead of flying, we drove there and back over two days, and we were bored to tears. Pretty much the entire way up, all we could do to keep ourselves alive was recite increasingly mangled versions of the DK Rap as we laughed ourselves into hysterics.

Luckily, just before we headed back, we thought about starting a fake gaming facts blog, as a riff on things like Did You Know Gaming and Supper Mario Broth. That kind of parody account was dime a dozen back then (and still kind of is), but it at least gave us something else to do on the ride back, rather than singing for the hundredth time:

Instead, we came up with 180+ jokes. I wrote them all down, in case we actually did something with the idea. You'd think they would be trash, since we were basically delirious at the time... but most of them are still really good!

After reviewing the material, we made it official, and started Now U Know Gaming. Together we alternated posting about 30 of them before we both had more important things to do (and eventually fell out of contact). The account has languished ever since... but I felt like we never got to the really good ones, and now I want to finish the job. So, at some point, I will!

Long story short, here's the deal: there's a ton of material already written. All I have to do is get a relevant image prepared for each one, and post them. This wouldn't be too hard, except as always, I make things too complicated. So the plan is:

Batch queue them so that a bunch (not all!) of them are shuffled and ready to go. That way, there's less maintenance in the long term.

Cross-publish to Twitter and Mastodon. When I initially ran it, I wasn't satisfied with the crossposter I was using, so I want to find another one... or write one from scratch.

Tweak the graphic design kit I made so that it looks a little more professional and is easier to work with.

Of course, between working full-time and on other projects, this hasn't really been a priority. But I'm not letting this one slip through the cracks. Now U Know Gaming will return someday!
