he doesn't understand, he really doesn't.

"..you don't mean it, [name]," he manages to whisper.

"why would you want to be with someone like me? i'm not a good person."

he thinks it's stupid of you to love him; a murderer, a fruitless creation. his hands are far too bloody to hold you, to embrace you.

"but-"

"stop it, [name]. all that pursuing me is going to bring is disappointment. just.. leave me alone."

"you stop it! stop trying to push me away from you kuni, just listen to me–" the way your voice cracks shatters his heart to pieces.

"i love you for you. i understand you don't trust me, but please, give me a chance," you breathe out.

he can feel eyes brimming with tears. "but i'm a dick to you. i can't watch my mouth, and-" he chokes back a sob. "you always put up with it, and you're so patient with me. i don't get it. you're so, so stupid."

you don't respond to his words but wrap your arms around his shaking body, a hand threading through his silky locks of hair.

the glistening tears he's been holding back finally fall onto his soft cheeks.

you can't help but find him beautiful even when he's crying.

"kuni, i'm patient with you because i know you're not a bad person. i wait for you because i know you're stubborn. please don't speak so low about yourself." you stop embracing him for a moment to dry his tears.

"so, kuni, will you let me love you?"

he still doesn't trust you, but he wants to.

"okay," he whispers into the crook of your neck.

Lying in bed dejected, you hold a pillow over your face. A few layers of bankets held you warmly, but maybe someone else’s embrace would be more comforting. A quiet knock comes from the other side of the door and just makes it into the room.

“Sugar, is it alright if I come in?” Seth’s question is gentle and sincere, and hopeful for your invitation.

“Yeah,” you sigh, rubbing your eyes. “Yeah, you can come in.”

The door slowly creaks open. Seth steps inside, making his way toward the bed and taking a seat near you. He finds your hand and takes it in his own.

“There you are. I missed you, y’know. It’s fine that you need space, and it wasn’t a long time but still,” he laughs a little. “Ah, I can’t help but be a bit clingy for ya.” Seth holds your hand more firmly, scared to let you go. “Do you feel any better? Seemed like you were in pretty rough shape before I left.”

“I’m alright, just having a tough day is all.” You avoid eye contact with Seth, who looks concerned as ever.

“I’m sorry, Sugar. Did’ja wanna tell me about it?” 

With a pause, you prepare to spill.

 “Seth, I don’t- I don’t think Iike how I look. Not now, at least.”

His eyes widen, troubled. Seth grips your hand tight in hopes of offering some support. “Oh, Sugar. C’mere,” He welcomes you with open arms. “Mind if I hold ya?”

Your head rests in the crook of his neck as Seth’s arms wrap around your waist.  

“Listen, Sweetheart. Can I tell ya somethin’?” 

You nod, and Seth cups your face, directing your gaze toward his.

“I love you, and there is absolutely nothing you could do to change that. Got it?” 

You nod again, granting him permission to continue.

“And another thing, you’ll always be beautiful in my eyes; physically or otherwise. Until you learn to see yourself the way I do, I’ve got no problem lovin’ you for the both of us. Alright?”

You return Seth’s embrace, holding him a little closer.

“Thank you, Honey. I think I needed that.”

“Ah, it’s nothing. Just telling the truth.”

Like an endless sea, so too was the sky above.

The horizon line seemed nigh undetectable between the two. An unfathomably large canvas of black and indigo, painted by a myriad of lights - soulful and stellar - rested overhead, its reflection cast upon distant waters below. The geography made its best attempts to reach it. Mountain peaks of neighboring isles rose as high as they could, only to fall drastically short. Despite their grand stature, they too were so, so very small by comparison.

The distance forever carried with it an untameable sense of wonder. As much knowledge as sentient lifeforms who were keen on the subject had so courageously, yet carefully accrued, nonetheless, they still had that much more to learn. The mystery remained forever alive… at least, for now.

Sometimes, it truly felt as though her heart rested out there. Somewhere far, far away... even from her.

“Quite the sight, isn't it?” A stranger approached her in the starlit shadows. She had not seen them, but the grass betrayed the secrecy of their footfalls. Had they been soundless, just the same, their presence could be felt.

Though content with her gaze placed upon the nocturnal, a moment was soon spared for them. Ah, it was an interesting one! Regardless of the dark, the conspicuous visual of their very prominent brows drew her in in an instant. Surely, she had not seen their likes before - there was simply no way she could forget eyebrows like those!

There was an amity that emanated from her. Though playful, her candor could not be denied. Verbally, she welcomed this presumably unknown guest with open arms.

“Would you like to have a closer look?”

"can you promise me something?" kunikuzushi whispers. his body a bit awkward as he rests on your bed, barely any proximity between your own. your heart flutters at how his soft hand grasps your own so tenderly.

"yes?" you brush a lock of hair out of his face, admiring how ethereal he looks with the moonlight shining on his features. you find the way his soft cheeks glow a rosy hue from your movements quite cute.

"promise me you won't ever leave me."

kuni can be difficult sometimes. he can be rude and flippant, and most would be turned away by his offensive speech if they did not know him well.

but you see underneath that facade. you see the true emotions he harbors underneath the walls he put up after so, so many sorrow experiences.

and you're so accepting to him, he thinks he doesn't deserve you. you're always there to be his anchor even when he could potentially hurt you.

with you, he can be vulnerable.

he's found his home in you.

as much as he initially didn't want to, he has fallen in love with you.

in all honesty, he was scared. scared of loving you and losing you. if he became too attached, then nothing would cure his heartache when he is left alone once again.

before he realized it, he was already in too deep.

he wants to always be around you. to accompany wherever you go, to be bound to you for eternity.

he wants to be there for you when you're happy, and when you're sad. just like how you're always there to comfort him when he needs it.

when he sees you with other people speaking so joyously, a pang of jealousy hits him. he can't help but fear if you'll leave if you meet someone better. he knows he's not a good partner, so what if you find someone who can give you all the love you deserve, and won't drag you down because their problems?

just the thought of you being with someone else, eyes crinkled with mirth and ringing laughter, has him shaking with anxiety.

he wants you to himself only.

"of course, kuni. i promise." your tranquil smile never fails to make him feel weak in the knees.

"i love you," is the last thing you whisper as you drift off to slumber.

as you sleep, your hands are still intwined together. he takes his other hand and caresses your hair gently, his touch as if he's handling a porcelain doll.

he slowly leans in to you and places a soft kiss on your cheek, his expression benign.

"i love you too, [name]. sweet dreams."

Dauda presses his head softly between the Americans shoulder blades, gripping him tightly. "I hope you don't mind." Dauda muttered, his voice hoarse from everything that just happened, he felt tired and scared. He wanted comfort.

For once he asked for it. And tried not to feel guilt. "I'll never mind, doc." He hid his face at the nickname. A clear drift happened between them and it showed. Neither seemed to know how to rebuild what was lost. "You can ask for help or comfort. You can't just help everyone else and forget yourself."

His hands gripped Woods jacket tightly, and slowly, felt his hand softly cup his, intertwining. "I am..so used to helping you all. It feels wrong for me." "There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel ok again." The words stung. It seemed Woods voice was close to breaking, small cracks shimmered through his usual strong tone.

"I'm surprised you came to me, out of all people." "I am... surprised as well." Talking made his throat hurt, every word seemed to hang in the thick air clearly. He had no real reason to go back after everything he found out, but he did despite the screaming pain that pounded in his chest.

"I still love you, y'know." Despite not being able to see Woods face, he didn't think he needed to, he could tell by the slight tremor and his voice cracking. Pain oozed from his throat, into each and every word Woods spoke. "I trust you, and no matter what I-I want you to know that."

Dauda didn't know how to feel.

Was he supposed to forgive him? To hate him forever? That sounded like a pitiful life, in his already existing hellhole of a reality. Dauda lost a lot, and he didn't want to lose more. He saw the male as a brother, who seeked for answers to help put him to easier rest. Thoughtful and kind, strong and noble. He used to love Woods, dearly so. But now?...now he wasn't sure.

"You don't have to feel the same way back. But I don't want to die knowing I never told you."

Dauda let tears pool in his eyes. So badly, did he want to crawl over and cup the male's face, tell him that he cared, loved, and will always trust the American. But things changed.

So instead,

"Give me time, aboki. I need time." Tears fell down his face as Woods let out a shakey breath.

"As long as you need, brother. I'll always be here."
