Sakura doesn't register the feeling at first. To be more precise, he doesn't know what the feeling is at all when it first appears.

I imagine Sakura having a significant other that's the polar opposite to him when it comes to physical touch - as in they would 100% at any given moment when they're together hold any part of Sakura that they come in contact with. (This boy cannot for the life of him shake off anyone he deems close away, grab his hand and lead him on and he will 100% complain the entire way, but he'll never shake off your hand)

Which means that ever since he did start to date you, he wouldn't even know the meaning of what touch deprivation even is - because not a day goes by when you're not touching him some part of him.

So when a day actually comes when you're not holding onto him, he feels genuinely put off. Something is wrong, but he can't put his finger on it. And oh boy does that clearly show on his face. Sakura is after all - an open book when it comes to his feelings.

He's moody, he doesn't snap and yell like usual - but he only mutters answers back whenever someone asks him something. Even to you - if anything, you would think he's mad at you. He's fidgeting with his hands, tugging at his sleeves and averting his gaze from you whenever you ask if he's okay.

He's an open book yeah, but he won't say a damn thing - pride and all.

It'll most likely be in a scenario where you're surrounded by more people than usual that you hold back a bit on showing affection. But still, you're mostly by his side, talking to him, handing him drinks and heck your shoulders brush against each other every time you laugh at something his classmate had said - you're that close to him.

And yet it feels wrong.

"Oh, Haruka your drink is empty. Want me to go grab another one?" you're not even waiting for an answer before you lean away from the wall behind you to head towards the refreshments table on the other side of the rooftop.

It's only when your presence once again leaves his side that Sakura springs into action, reaching out to barely grasp the fabric of your shirt to hold you slightly back. Puzzled, you turn around with a confused smile, only to be met with an equally confused, but frantic stare from your lover. "Everything okay, Haruka?" you ask again, ignoring the fact that Haruka's gaze is looking all over the place but at your own face.

"Y-yeah, why wouldn't it be?" although he says that, his hand is still grasping onto your shirt. A few seconds go by in silence before you feel a slight tug against them - and suddenly every dot in your confused brain starts to connect on his bizarre behaviour today.

Your eyes soften, and Sakura can hear your quiet chuckle when you turn around to face him, forcing his fingers to let go. But before he can ask what you're laughing about, he can feel himself being pulled into a hug, and he can feel your smile against his shoulders as you pat his back comfortably. "You're so cute, Haruka." he can hear you say through your quiet giggles.

You can hear a quiet "Shut up…" from him, but you can feel the way his posture drastically softens under your hug. But before your duo-coloured lover could wrap his arms around your waist, you hear a low whistle coming from behind you. "Naaw, Sakura-kun was missing [Name]'s touch for the day."

And in an instant you're yanked (gently) away by an arms length with Sakura yelling profanities at a laughing Suo. Well at least he's back to normal.

Suo's never "deprived" per say of your touch - because he's the one initiating it 90% of the time.

He's already physically affectionate. He's usually seen having an arm around your waist when you're peering at something, holding your hand when the two of you go for a walk or leaning over you when you're standing still to rest his chin on top of your head (if you're shorter, if not he'll bury his face into the crook of your neck).

And while you don't mind (in fact often times you lean most of your weight on him if he's standing behind you once you feel his presence) Suo does want you to initiate contact once in a while.

But alas those feelings is rarely shown on his face, always sporting a neutral smile to any situation he's put in - no one can tell that he's a bit more troubled than usual.

But what kind of lover would you be, if you weren't able to spot these miniscule changes in Suo? When he now only briefly holds onto your waist to silently announce his presence beside you before retracting his arm back and when he waits for your fingers to graze against his own before he tangles them together?

You do notice, and Suo also knows you've noticed the slight difference in your otherwise normal habits. How you peer up at him a bit longer than usual when he decides to sit next to you in the library instead of behind you like he usually does so you can rest against him. But he only gives you a wide smile in return to your confused glance.

"You know-" you say with a start, seating yourself down on Suo's lap the moment he seats himself down properly on the tatami floor of his room, your lover only wrapping an arm around your back to make sure you don't topple over. "This is a very elaborate way to tell me you want me to initiate physical contact more often."

"Hmm? Whatever do you mean?" he feigns ignorance, merely tilting his head slightly to the side when you twirl your fingers around the tassels of his left earring whilst resting your head against his shoulder. "Why can't you just ask like any other person for a hug or something?" you question.

"That wouldn't be fun. I wanted to see if you loved the physical touch as much as me, after all." he says, and you raise your eyebrow in confusion, "Me not reciprocating your touches was not an answer?" you inquire, raising your head to stare at him, Suo only giving you a smile that seems a bit too mischievous back while shaking his head.

"Initiating and reciprocating are two different things, dear. Initiating takes a lot more courage after all." you only hum in return, resting your head back on his shoulder before taking a hold of his hand to toy with his fingers, bending the appendages while admiring how smooth his skin was - even with all the fighting he does. "I like it when you initiate contact first though…" you murmur in the end. Suo, who had initially thought you had put the matter of his impromptu idea to the side hums in surprise at your quiet confession.

"Why?"

You shrug, deciding to intertwine your fingers together before resting them on your own lap, smiling softly at how Suo's thumb brush against the skin of your hand. "I don't know either. I just know that it's you whenever someone takes a hold of my hand, you do have the habit of grazing your fingers against mine before holding them after all. It's almost like your way of saying hello before we even make eye contact." you tell, "You always reach out for my hand first after all."

You're not staring at him, still busy looking at your clasped hands - but he still smiles down at your form, turning his head to press his lips on top of your head. "Well with such a sweet reason, who am I to not initiate it more then, hmm?"

He makes it known that he wants your touch before you can even tell he's deprived.

Which means he's never deprived, because when Umemiya feels that he needs a hug, he's making a beeline towards you to engulf you in his arms.

Which means there are two outcomes to this. If you're within his sights and he sees you as soon as he wants a hug, everything is A-OK! Umemiya gets his well needed hug to tackle the next set of duties and tasks he has set for himself for the next 3 hours.

If you're not in his arms within the next 10 minutes of him wanting a hug, he's going to talk to his plants like you've gone off to war and won't come back before the next year. Talking about how much he misses your presence, your favourite food, what kind of seed you would probably prefer, how he's found a new book that you love. At this point feel sorry for the person that has to sit through those 10 minutes of constant love declarations. (Hiragi)

And yes, Hiragi has you on speed dial because of this. It does not matter that you've recently been up on the rooftop spending time with him, it does not matter if you've just gone downtown to get some drinks - Hiragi does not get paid enough for this and he will personally escort you back to Bofurin's leader to make him shut up.

You better clear your schedule for the next hour because Umemiya will have you in his arms before making sure you're well fed and spend time with you. He doesn't necessarily have to constantly touch you then - if he can see you within his vision he's already beaming brighter than the sun in the sky.

"Hajime, you're about to squeeze my entire air supply out." you manage to wheeze out while laughing, Umemiya merely burying his face further into your hair while swinging you back and forth in the air.

"You could've told me that you were going to go shop for groceries for Kotoha! I would've helped." he exclaimed whilst putting your down on the ground again, though his arms were still snugly wrapped around your waist and still keeping you pressed against his front. Your own arms around his back when you noticed that he wouldn't budge from this position anytime soon.

"Last time you helped out, you crushed 2 dozens eggs remember? The townsfolk love you too much too, we would've needed more hands if you came along because of the amount of freebies they would give you. Besides she just wanted a few things and I was already out when she asked where I was, so it wasn't too much trouble to make another round through the town." you replied, stepping side to side while pushing yourself against Umemiya, a silent request for him to move backwards towards the wooden canopy so you both could sit down.

Once seated, you find yourself placed on top of Umemiya's lap with his arms still snugly wrapped around your waist, securing your body close to his own when you lean backwards to properly look at him while talking. At this point Umemiya has gone off tangent, eyes brimming with excitement over what had happened on the day you had mentioned the crushed eggs, only stopping his tangent when you bring a handkerchief up to his face to wipe away the dirt.

"… How long have you been in that position?" an exasperated gruff voice questions, and both you and Umemiya turn over to the entrance of the rooftop to see Hiragi leaning against the door.

"Hiragi! You want some water? Maybe some onigiri? Oh right, [Name] had also picked up some snacks!"

"It's been 15 minutes."

"Good grief, Umemiya, let [Name] go aleady, they're not your personal teddy bear."

Hiragi in general is not a physically affectionate person. He doesn't mind it, softens quite a bit when you grasp his hand whenever you join his group when they patrol the town and relaxes his posture while sinking further down the slope of the couch so that you can rest your head on his shoulder - even if the posture itself causes him a bit of discomfort after.

He's quite content just having you walk by his side - as long as he can see you from his peripheral vision or heck, just hear your voice speak from beside him or behind him, he's content.

He does however have his moments. Although it's incredibly hard to spot because Hiragi himself doesn't mind going days without getting a kiss even.

And even when you do initiate the first touch, he handles you like a porcelain doll - almost afraid you will break. You can hug him as tight as you can, he'll laugh and say he's not going to disappear anytime soon, but the hug you receive back is so gentle and full of love it almost brings you to tears alone.

Hiragi is aware of his position within Bofurin, and the fact that his name carries a lot of weight and is known beyond the town - as such he initiates the most contact when you're alone. And even that is a rare occurrence being that you're both busy most of the time.

As such, even though it's rare - Hiragi will show subtle signs that he wants to cradle you within his arms or hold your hand. A gentler gaze when he addresses you - a more carefree grin when you open your arms wide waiting for him to come to you, but even you can see the slight hesitation.

All in all, Hiragi is quite content and rarely gets touch deprived, but no one is immune to their lover asking for a quick hug, even when you yourself isn't much of a physically affectionate person.

"Can I have a hug? Please?" Hiragi blinks slowly in confusion, takes a look behind him before directing his attention to you. "… Did you have to ask me in a sketchy alleyway of all things?" he finally asks, which makes you laugh, hands still outstretched waiting for Hiragi to take the 2 steps to reach you.

"And here I thought I was going to get a lecture from dragging you away from patrolling." you say, now wriggling your fingers to emphasise your current need for a hug from your boyfriend. "Think of it like an energy boost for the day! I know you've been craving a hug from yours truly for a long time after all, it's been a while since your last recharge!" you add on, Hiragi quirking an eyebrow with a smile.

"You're keeping track of them now?" he scoffs, taking the two steps you desperately wanted him to take, reaching out his own hands to intertwine them with your own before holding onto your wrists to rest your arms on his shoulders. "Hehe, next time I should keep track on how many Gas-kun 10 you take." you can see the roll of his eyes as he wraps his arms around your waist while you lock your own arms around his neck, rubbing your face into his neck to breathe in the faint hint of cologne he dons each day.

The arms wrapped around your waist tightens a bit more than usual, and you can feel the stiffness of Hiragi's form loosen "You're on your lunch break?" he asks softly, to which you nod against his neck, "Mhm, have to go back within 10 minutes if I don't want my teacher to give me an earful again." he hums, giving you one last squeeze before stepping back.

He only pinches your puffed out cheeks, "Don't give me that look, I'll come pick you up after school okay? I think Umemiya misses talking to you as well." Upon hearing that, your eyes brighten immediately before skipping past him out of the alleyway, "Promise to not be late?"

"When have I ever been?"

Another boy who does not know how to function when he's touch deprived! But unlike Sakura, he does know when he is indeed needing for some more cuddles than normal.

But he's awkward, he doesn't know how to actually go on about asking for hugs. Yes in his mind it's logical to just straight up ask you for a hug, or if you can just sit in front of him so he can lean his forehead on the nape of your neck and just breathe in your fragrance. Very easy to do!

Easier said than done. Especially when he's the type to not do anything before you give him permission - yes he's still scared of hurting you even though when he's around you, he's fully in control of his emotions and reactions. But there's always a lingering feeling, you know?

Still jumps in surprise at times when you graze your fingers against any exposed part of his skin, but once he sees it's you - best believe he's holding onto you till someone calls him out.

He's more prone to initiate more contact when you're alone, being that in public he's prone to get teased (whether that's voluntarily by his classmates or involuntarily by Umemiya's comments on how soft he's gotten)

So as a compromise to his awkward self when you're in public, you'll get random visits from Kaji numerous times a week - which is a silent request to just have you in his arms.

Kaji's attention is taken away from his phone when he feels your fingers graze against his chin. Glancing down, he cocks his head to the side while pushing his headphones down to rest on the nape of his neck. "What's up?" he inquires softly, you don't say anything at first - merely directing your fingers towards his cheeks to graze against his skin there.

"Weren't you supposed to patrol today?" you ask, bringing your other free hand to push Kaji's hand that's holding onto his phone to your eye level. "In around 15 minutes yeah, I just left earlier." he answers, his fingers that were absentmindedly stroking your head grazing a few stray strands away from your forehead.

"It already takes 10 minutes from Furin to my house though? Shouldn't you leave soon?" you point out, but instead of rising from his lap to let him get up from the floor, you merely roll to your side to bury your face against his stomach before becoming still - leaving Kaji with both arms in the air, waiting for you to move.

"If you let me go, that is." he finally says after a second of silence, he can feel your slight nod before you plant your hands beside him to heave yourself up from his lap. And in the blink of an eye, you're at eye level with Kaji - his breath hitching at the close proximity.

"Don't come back with too many bruises, alright?" you remind, before slotting your lips briefly over his own. As you lean back you pull his headphones snugly over his ears again, mouthing something that makes Kaji roll his eyes. "You still let me inside regardless, so that threat doesn't work anymore."

HARUKA SAKURA | 桜 遥 ─ ♬﹒♡

Attempting to flirt with a guy like SAKURA, or even show any kind of affection, is already beyond hopeless, for the second you approach him with the intention of initiating affection, regardless of what it is, his entire face goes crimson. The guy's flushed face is redder than a traffic light, you like to say, only to then get a mouthful from Sakura that he isn't blushing, and it's just that the weather feels hot. It’s not him. So stop looking at him like that!

Yeah, right. Hot in the middle of the damn winter.

Sakura loves and shows affection through his actions, most of them somewhat unintentional and subconscious. He might brush a stray hair from your face while you're eating together, make sure you're walking on the inside of the sidewalk, or quietly leave your favourite snacks where you can find them—only to then flush into a deep crimson when you bring up his romantic gestures. Because to him, he really doesn't think before he acts, and yet does so tenderly when with you and you only.

It's these small gestures that speak volumes about his feelings for you. And lord take mercy on anyone who decides to poke fun at you or comment on a singular "bad" thing about you. Whoever makes fun of you or even dares to comment on what he deems as poorly about you and your delightful character is in for a world of hurt. He can and he will throw hands. Sakura's protective side surfaces, and he will immediately start burning up like a wildfire you can't put out, ready to defend your honour at a moment's notice, even if that means firing back against his own gang members and friends.

HAJIME UMEMIYA | 梅宮 一  ─ ♬﹒♡

The physical manifestation of a lovebug. Hugs, kisses, cuddles, and more—you name it. Did I mention that he loves, loves, loves physical affection? UMEMIYA is all over you, to the point where you can hardly move whenever his arms encircle you, just like a little cuddly bear. It certainly gets more than a little awkward when the other Furin members are around, watching your and their leader's affectionate moments and PDA happen in real-time, but Umemiya doesn't care. If anything, he’s all for it! That just means that others will for sure know that you’re taken and you're his.

His love is open, unrestrained, unabashed, and utterly shameless, a stark contrast to his model demeanour as the leader of Furin. How this guy can act like this and also beat people half to death is beyond comprehension in their eyes. And as the leader of Furin, he's also like your protector. You would never need a bodyguard when you have your boyfriend by your side at all times of the day, one way or another. He's there from dawn to dusk, from sunrise to sunset. His presence may be both comforting and overbearing at times, yet you wouldn't trade his ceaseless companionship for the world, knowing he'll always be there, and likewise, you'll always be there for him. 

HAYATO SUO | 蘇枋 隼飛  ─ ♬﹒♡

SUO is calm and calculating, his sharp mind is always a step ahead of others, but most importantly, he's loyal to a fault. His ability to anticipate your needs and understand your emotions without you saying a word is both a blessing and a curse. Suo is intelligent but arguably one of the most mysterious guys in Furin. A complete "stick in the mud," Sakura would say with a peeved expression of distaste. He can read you like a book, which can be irritating at times—the way that he purposely acts like a know-it-all, all with the intention of pissing you off that day—all the while keeping his own thoughts private. While you appreciate his attentiveness, his tendency to withhold his own feelings can be frustrating, especially during the times when you need his emotional support the most. 

Despite this, Suo's actions speak volumes about his devotion. There was more in his mind than you originally thought of him. Suo might not verbalize his true feelings often, often masking them feom under his aloof facade and honeyed words, but his loyalty ultimately shines through in the little things he does for you. Because when it matters the most, Suo is there, all behind that expression of his. His faint, knowing smile and just the air that surrounds him only deepen your curiosity about what was behind that eyepatch of his. But only you could see the vulnerability hidden beneath his composed exterior, his silence often hiding a plethora of emotions that not even words could ever fully begin to express.

JO TOGAME | 十亀 条 ─ ♬﹒♡

If Umemiya is considered protective over you, TOGAME is even more so fiercely vigilant in his watch over you. At first glance, he appears stern and unapproachable—it certainly was to you—with his glasses covering the hearts in his eyes. However, once you got to know him, you discover a sensitive, caring guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. And that is precisely who Togame was.

His affections are subtle but deeply felt. He remembers the most minor details about you that many would either forget or deem as not important, but not to Togame. From your favourite book to the way you like your tea, he's always there to lend a hand or offer a quiet word of encouragement when you need it the most, and his protective nature means he's always looking out for potential threats, ensuring your safety without ever making a fuss about it. All your pretty little head needs to worry about is feeling cherished and loved.

TOMA HIRAGI | 柊登馬  ─ ♬﹒♡

If there's even a slight chance that someone or something even laid hands on you with the intention of hurting you, HIRAGI would never in his life let that happen, even if it meant using his own body as your shield. He knows that being in a gang attracts a lot of enemies, and through that, increases the possibility of putting you in danger. Because of that, Hiragi is always on high alert. And if he’s not around, he’ll either ask Sugishita, Umemiya or “Othello-kun” to help out and ensure your safety. Why they even bother to accept his request is beyond me, but his concern for you was always evident, and they knew that. Hiragi puts your safety above all. You hate that he puts himself at risk, but you can't deny the comfort his presence brings.

Hiragi’s anxiety manifests as hyper-vigilance, which can sometimes backfire when you become hyper-sensitive and worry about his health. Your love for each other goes deep, as, despite his protectiveness, there are times when Hiragi needs your comfort, too. He's practically a bundle of nerves all, for better or not worse, wound into a singular individual, partly due to Umemiya's constant nonchalance, which only heightens his anxiety. You often find yourself being the one to soothe him, reminding him to breathe and take it one step at a time. His commitment to your safety and peaceful life away from all the chaos he is entrenched in is firm as a rock, even if it means pushing his own limits to ensure that happens.

CHOJI TOMIYAMA | 兎耳山 丁子  ─ ♬﹒♡

His constant mood swings are something that you were well aware of when you started seeing the boy, for sure, but CHOJI's love for you is undeniable. No one could ever doubt that. Not even Togame, who witnessed firsthand how devoted Choji was whenever in your presence. It was refreshing, in a way, to see Choji like that. To be truly carefree and unburdened and not compelled by the turmoil in his own mind. He wasn't driven to seek solace in conflicts and fights or to find joy and his longing for “happiness.” For whenever he found himself in your company, happiness was not just a possibility but an inevitability.

He's always ensuring, whether you like it or not, that you are aware of his feelings and affection for you, even if it means drilling the same ramblings into your ears for hours on end. Despite his erratic moods, he's a sweet presence to have around. His ramblings often turn into heartfelt confessions and declarations of love, making you smile even on your worst days. Moreover, Choji has a knack for lightening the mood, and his energetic personality is a welcome contrast to the more serious members of your inner circle.

Did I already say that he's energetic? Well, Choji is a ball of exuberance, and he doesn't take no for an answer when it comes to making you feel loved. He's like a burst of sunshine, brightening your day with the infectious enthusiasm that can make anyone smile. No matter how anarchic his emotions get, his love for you, regardless of circumstance, will never change. 

REN KAJI | 梶蓮  ─ ♬﹒♡

KAJI is the kind of guy who silently stays by your side. It's a comfortable silence that you've grown to love and appreciate, with his quiet presence being a constant source of comfort. He's not one for grand gestures or flowery words of affection, and you're well aware of that, but his advice and insights are invaluable. Whenever you face a problem in your life, Kaji is there, offering a solution with a calm, measured approach, even if he does throw in a couple of swear words and cusses here and there when at times losing his cool. It's the thought that counts.

His silence is not a sign of indifference but of his thoughtful nature. He listens far more than he speaks, and his actions reflect his deep care for you far more than anybody else by a landslide. Even the man-child that is Umemiya notices. Though he may not be as outwardly affectionate as others, his loyalty and his presence alone at your side speak volumes about his love for you, nothing more. Kaji's quiet strength is a pillar you can always lean on, his love expressed through every considerate action, whether big or small. 

KYOTARO SUGISHITA | 杉下京太郎  ─ ♬﹒♡

Another one who cannot physically use words to communicate for the life of him. Everyone has seen SUGISHITA's loyalty to Umemiya, but how exactly would that loyalty manifest if it were directed towards you, his significant other, arguably the most important person in his life? He's fiercely protective, and that's putting it lightly. Whoever dares to harm you or speaks to you deplorably, there will be hell to pay. Quite literally.

Sugishita the definition of "actions speak louder than words." He's not a romantic, he's not a flirt, but what he is—more than what everybody else is—dependable to a fault. Any kind of affection will have this boy's brain reloading and scrambling. Sugishita is more similar to Sakura than most people may assume, something that Sakura will never admit to, not even on his deathbed. And the one time he did, using the nickname "baby" all the while saying all that with the unintentional expression of a homicidal maniac had not only Umemiya (the idiot who gave him the "advice" to try being romantic for once) bawling his eyes out in laughter but also made your face flush red in embarrassment, unable to utter a word.

...Was this really your boyfriend? 

His gestures, though subtle, are filled with meaning. Whether it's fixing something for you, helping to carry the heavier stuff for you, ensuring you have everything you need, or simply being there when you need him, Sugishita's actions are his way of showing he cares. Not even Umemiya could look and claim that he treated others, including himself, the same way he treated you. Sugishita’s not one for grand displays of affection—if he's even able to comprehend how to present that without having an expression that he's about to snap at any time—but his reliability and steadfastness are a comfort that Furin as a whole, and you, his one and only lover, appreciates greatly.

In a world of so much uncertainty, especially in such a gang-centric environment, Sugishita's consistent presence is a reassuring and refreshing constant. He's your silent guardian, always watching, always protecting his love—what was to you, an unspoken promise, but to him, a forever vow.

As cliché as it sounds he loves giving you his jacket to wear. (He won't tell you tho) He feels so flustered about it, but does it almost every time. Even if you aren't cold, he likes the fact that it can show that he is your boyfriend (plus it scares creeps away). Yeah, it might be a little bit big on you, but who cares? He will just wrap it around your shoulders without saying a word when you two go out.

He stands a step behind you when you walk on your side. He feels like he can protect you better this way, he again, won't tell you that tho. If you mention something about it, he'll just keep denying it, until you stop asking.

He gives you some of his jewellery to wear while you are out together or just in general. That way you always have something his to remind you of him, even when he isn't there. Hajime Umemiya⚝

He will ask you about your favourite flower. It doesn't matter what it is or where he needs to go to find it. He makes sure to give you a bouquet of it at least one time in the month even if it isn't a special accusion. If he can grow the plant himself, be prepared for a ton shit of them, because this guy will make a literal garden of it. (And it looks so beautiful)

Mitsuki Kiryu⚝

Kiryu is a gentleman. That's like a love language for him. He would hold your hand everywhere you go, step in front of you when something happens. He open doors for you, pays when you go out, walks you home, he is just a person of act of service + more. He'll tell you how beautiful you look every time he sees you, and his compliments are always so creative.

Ren Kaji⚝

He has a playlist full of songs that you listen to or mentioned you like them. He listens to every single one and when you two meet again, he gives you the playlist and tells you what he thinks about each song.

Every time he goes needs to fight, after he became your boyfriend, he will put his headphones around on you and literally shove his lollipop into your mouth and after the fight he'll get back his headphones, but sometimes will let you keep the lollipop.

"How the fuck do I win..."

It will take forever to convince him to play because apparently 'there is no way he's playing dress-up that's made for children' but will fold as soon as you tell him he's just saying that because he hates you.

He keeps forgetting where certain items are and keeps going in circles around the place. That's why he thinks 5 minutes isn't enough.

"Where the fuck are the heels with the pretty pink bows? Man." / "You're going in circles, y'know?" / "Not my fault this shit's a maze."

Pretty standard outfits. Like they're not terrible, but they're not impressive enough to get 4 or 5 stars.

He's more of a simplicity-is-beauty type of guy so that also reflects in the kind of outfits that he makes. But the kids in the server are not having it.

"What does 'ate and served' mean?"

SO SALTY WHEN HE LOSES. But he'll brush it off and pretend that he's cool about it because he is not about to let anyone know he cares about some stupid dress-up game.

Suo Hayato

"Oh, look. I got first place again~"

He was easier to convince. But only if you knew how good he'd be, you wouldn't have asked him to play with you. Why? 'Cuz your morale is plummeting by the second.

He doesn't even need to try. Suo just lets his natural sense of style bleed into the way he plays the game AND HE WINS. He's pretty and so are his outfits.

Suo knows that it's mostly kids playing the game. So when he figures out there are younger people on the server, he'll rate them pretty high to put a smile on their face. (HE'S SO SWEET).

"Suo... it didn't even follow the theme." / "But it's quite nice, don't you think?"

You notice that you rank faster when you duo with him. You've been exploiting this little feature.

"We make a pretty good team, don't we?" / "Huh? Oh, yeah. Haha totally..."

Nirei Akihiko

"OH, this one's good... No, but this one's really good too..."

Nirei is everyone's hypeman: yours, the fashion mavens', the ten year olds who can't follow the theme—literally everyone.

He actually gets better so quickly by observing the outfits of those who win a lot. Like dude is analyzing a whole ass Roblox game. Not that it's intentional—more like it's in his nature.

He falls deep into the DTI rabbit hole. You know because he eagerly waits for updates and hunts for codes on the internet.

"Heyyyy, guess who learned a new code hm?"

His face lights up when you ask him to play... as if he doesn't ask you to play every chance he gets already...

DTI actually becomes his door leading to his descent into the world of Roblox. Seriously, he starts playing more Roblox because you started him with DTI. He also starts asking the other Furin guys to play too.

"Guys, let's do an obby next." / "A what?" / "An obby." / "Again, A WHAT?"

Sugishita Kyotaro

"... I swear I can do better than this..."

This man... this man was even harder to convince compared to Sakura. In fact, you almost gave up. Soooo... you convinced Ume instead (which was easier) and in turn, that forced Sugishita to try it out.

Didn't even ask how it works. He's just reading the text that pops up and goes with the flow.

I'm sorry but... he has the blandest style out of everyone in the main Furin group. Like, he doesn't even try to win AT ALL. But, y'know, A for effort!

"Oh... I have to vote for them?" / "Well, yeah... actually no, just give me 5 stars, okay?"

He plays DTI for a grand total of 3 times, all of which were because Ume asked him to play with the rest of the guys.

He's not much of a gamer to begin with... really, he'd much rather watch you play DTI and see your dramatic reactions to whatever's happening.

Umemiya Hajime

"HAHAHA What's with these silly poses?"

It's like a switch flips in him when he boots up the game and the DTI background song starts playing. He looks waaaaay too happy playing it.

He only started playing because all the hype surrounding it. Ume just wants to be part of the conversation and that's why he tried it out.

Talks way too much in the chat. Usually people just use it to provide more context for their outfits, but Ume actually makes conversation with players there. It's pretty funny to see.

"Look. So many people added me." / "Huh... well ain't that a surprise..."

He almost threw the Ipad out of excitement when he saw that the theme was gardening. He said he had to win or he'd literally die.

Hiragi Toma

"I'm not that good at it... okay, maybe just a bit."

He's an old man so bear with him when he tells you that he doesn't even know what a 'Roblox' is. He thought it was a vape flavor by the way.

"So... I have to dress-up and make people vote highly for me?" / "Yeah, it's called Dress to Impress for a reason." / "Oh, yeah. Fair."

He barely tries, but somehow he's kinda good at it? He's not insanely amazing at putting together outfits... but for a guy who's not trying that hard—he's doing pretty well for himself.

But he'll be too embarrassed to admit it. Hiragi would click his tongue and tell you to knock it off once you start complimenting his DTI skills.

He's a bit lost with the Gen Z/Gen Alpha terms, but he's trying to learn—slowly but surely like a little baby lamb learning how to walk.

Will rate you 5 stars no matter what. Everyone else is getting 1 star. Hiragi doesn't care.

- he actually doesn't know what to do

- was about to give up and told you that the plan was cancelled until nirei slapped him on the shoulder(nirei got slapped back)

- decided to get advices from kaji

- kaji also doesn't know and told him to leave him alone, but he also told sakura to atleast bring something with him to give to you

- he ended up bringing you to cafe pothos since he couldn't think of any other place

"...s-sorry..it's not much." you heard him mutter something but can't quite make out what it is, so you asked him to repeat it once again which makes his face goes bright red. "i- i don't know what you're talking about! i didn't say anything!"

- after spending time in the cafe and eating both your meals, he finally brings out the gift that he prepared for you

- kotoha won't stop sending him side eyes and a teasing smile which makes sakura unable to utter a word

- he just shoves it in your face(gently)

"h-here..take this." he says nervously while averting his gaze from yours. sakura took a long time picking out gifts for you and now he doesn't know if you'll like it or not. you opened the bag and found a bread. "a bread?" "just take it!"

KIRYU MITSUKI

- he wants to take you to an arcade but he thinks it's a bit too much for a first date, so he'd probably took you to a famous cafe in town

- he'll also come pick you up from your home

- when you walked out of your home, he took your hand in his and compliments your outfit

- he won't stop talking of how pretty you look that day, even after you're finished with the date he'd still bring it up each time you met.

"you look so pretty," he smiled at you as he took your hand in his, "lucky me for being able to date you." his words makes you flustered.

- when you arrived at the cafe, you'd think that he would be on his phone all the time since it's all that he does, but he actually put it in his pocket for today.

- if you're too anxious to order food, he's gonna order it for you

- would pay for the food

"is it really okay?" you look at the bills on the table, then look at him again with furrowed brows. "yeah, of course it's okay." he took your hand in his again and smiled at you.

TAIGA TSUGEURA

- you'll definitely know where he's taking you

- he told his friends that he's going to take you to a gym as a first date so you both could spend time together while also do workouts

- his friends obviously told him it's a stupid plan and told him to take you to a restaurant instead

- he probably took you to that one place(if you know what im talking about)

- he will apologize the whole time if the place isn't to your liking

"i'm sorry if this place doesn't look too fancy," he put his hands together and lowered his head, "but i promise you this place has great food! i come here regularly!" you smiled at him and tell him that it's okay as long as you're spending time with him. he's now pretty flustered and also proud of himself.

- you noticed that most of the food has the word 'energy' in it, you don't understand but you still order whatever you like.

- he of course ask you his infamous question, and you answered. the fact that you actually answered the question makes him very happy.

- after you both finished your meals, he takes you home.

"thank you for today." you smiled at him warmly and said that you had fun, you also complimented him. about how his loud and cheerful personality also makes you feel happy. hearing those words from someone he loves makes his heart melt. he can only mutter out a little thank you because a tear started to form in the corner of his eyes.

Miku is the big bang/whole universe. (as she rightly deserves) Full on Hatsune creation myth where she's born with sound and that gives birth to everything else. She hasn't been seen in a while though, too busy delivering her songs

Rin, Len, and Tsukasa are 1st generation stars. (Partly thought to be older than some galaxies and lighter than today's stars.) There are not many around anymore and these three like to travel. They're not always together. Tsukasa gets to be the little brother and the twins are very mischievous. They love messing with people

Kaito, Kohane, and Haruka are white nebula, the angel equivalent. Haruka in particular works as a guardian angel to help people

Luka, An, and Airi are dark nebula, the demon equivalent. Luka watches over the dead where she will punish those she deems unworthy. An was part of a summoning to try and bring back Nagi but was adopted instead

Rui is the Milky Way galaxy. Asahi could be his black hole of a heart to explain the closeness. But he's definitely seen some things. Mafuyu, another black hole, accidentally separated from her mother's galaxy when she was passing by. Rui's gravitational pull was too strong and he hasn't quite figured out what to do with someone else's black hole yet

Ichika is a dwarf star, and he likes to visit her sometimes. Saki, human, accidentally confused Tsukasa's star for hers once. Ichika's been wondering when she would be able to feel someone's wish upon her again

Honami is the moon. She acts as a bridge between Earth and the rest of the universe and tries to make sure no one gets into trouble

Kanade is a white hole. No one truly believes one exists, and her tired appearance doesn't help. She often watches over the graveyard where a nice couple is buried. They helped her out and now she uses her powers to keep the graveyard safe and healthy

Shiho, Minori, Shizuku, Akito, Touya, Emu, Nene, Ena, Mizuki, and Meiko are the rest of the humans . Meiko is a really long-lived human though. Not even Miku knows what's going on between her, Luka, and Kaito.

Minori knows she has someone following her, Haruka, but hasn't figured out a way to see them. Her cousin, Nanamin, travels with her to find this mysterious person

Nene was born with extra stardust in her, and now the wind speaks to her. She goes wherever the winds take her and eventually meets Emu. Normal, rich family, Emu is trying to keep some of her grandfather's dreams alive, but no one believes her when she talks about them literally dying.

Not sure about Shiho, Shizuku, and Touya yet. They need work, but Shizuku might be in charge of someplace where humans and personifications can hang out. Saito will be with her. Hmmm, Shiho might be able to hear celestials when they're around. Touya's definitely been locked up somehow

Ena is another one born with extra stardust. She's spent years looking for Akito who went missing. Neither realized he had accidentally been trapped in one of her paintings. Akito didn't have any of his memories as he wandered the waste of her paints. She does end up freeing Mizuki who had trapped themself in a mirror years and years ago

Mizuki is quite surprised to find themself alive again

Saki began wishing upon Tsukasa while she was in the hospital. Of course, he had to visit after he heard so many of her wishes. He's made it his goal to help her complete the wishes she wrote upon her cranes. He's also quite curious as the wall of smaller galaxies he had to cross to get into the Milky Way

Wind Breaker's Message About Reaching the Top

So I decided to check out Satoru Nii's Wind Breaker, another delinquent battle series, but with a fun twist. The delinquents are the protectors of a town instead of being shunned by the town itself. While the story is standard shonen, the 1st major arc of the manga/anime really drives home how getting to the top of where you want to go is very much interdependent on who you associate with.

The premise of Wind Breaker is about a young man named Sakura Haruka, who is obsessed with being the best delinquent fighter in all the land. He decides to enroll in Furin High School after hearing that the school has some really strong students to fight against. However, he learns that Furin High School is a heroic organization determined to protect its townsfolk from danger. Sakura doesn't care about being a hero, but ends up fighting the good fight due to the influence of Furin's leader, Hajime Umemiya.

Readers learn that Sakura is afraid of people liking him due to people ruthlessly ignoring him in the past. A waitress named Kotoha Tachibana tells him that he'll never reach his goal of the top because he's alone. Once he starts his Furin tenure, Sakura decides to patrol town and hang around his Furin classmates out of reluctance. He starts to experience what it's like to have people who want the best for him. Sakura also meets Umemiya himself, who shows a lot of warmth and silliness despite being the strongest of Furin High. The story really starts to take off in Volume 2 when Furin is challenged by a rival gang named Shishitoren.

Shishitoren's leader, Choji Tomiyama, challenges Umemiya out of boredom being at the top. Compared to Tomiyama, Umemiya shows a genuine appreciation for the people in his life and looks almost always happy. Tomiyama wants to take all of Umemiya's happiness away. Furin and Shishitoren would agree to fight in a 5-on-5 team match to determine which gang will disappear. The two leaders would eventually face off in a clash of what it means to be at the top.

When you ask someone "What does it take to get to the top?", you usually get answers like work hard, grind every day, hone your craft, etc. While those help a bunch, what gets lost in the conversation is the role of luck. Circumstances can change things in a hurry. Let's say that you want to be the best runner in the world, but get into a car accident which cripples you. No grind and honing will get you back there, no matter what.

What also gets lost in the conversation and involves luck to a certain degree are relationships. This applies to something like a job search. What if you're a career-oriented person who wants to be a high-earning executive? Sure, you can work hard. But what helps a lot more is learning how to be around your fellow employees or attract them to you. If you know how to guide them and help them with certain tasks, it goes a long way because those people will help you right back with what you want. There's a reason why people tout networking so much when it comes to job searching. Being around and helping people in work-related stuff gets you very far.

This point is driven very hard in Wind Breaker. When Umemiya and Tomiyama fight, the former tries his best to make the latter understand what he's missing. He bluntly says.

"Your fists are powerless. Do you understand why? It's because you're fighting for nothing."

Tomiyama is driven mad, but Umemiya continues to persist to help him even to the point of getting pummeled himself. Umemiya asks Tomiyama to remember a time where the two gangs once fought, but it was all in good fun over a misunderstanding. What comes next is Umemiya giving Tomiyama a strong headbutt to make him remember what he REALLY needs to be the top. Tomiyama loses consciousness, but remembers that what made him enjoy life was the laughter and camaraderie he shared with his fellow Shishitoren members.

Tomiyama would explain what he felt like when he reached the top of his gang. It's a common feeling that a lot of people, especially leaders, can relate to. A feeling of nothingness; a feeling that no matter what you do, it's all meaningless. There's so much competitive push to be perfect and at the top of everything you do. And it hurts those who never feel they're enough. Then again, hierarchical constructs make them feel that way at times. People at the top can't relate to those below them because they're expected to uphold to a standard that doesn't allow for meaningful friendship.

There's a good amount of advice on what to do if you're a leader who feels lonely. For Umemiya, what he likes is eating food with people he cares about. He wants them to enjoy themselves. That's what drives him to be at the top of Furin and keeps him connected with life. When a now-optimistic Tomomiya talks to Umemiya about leadership in general, Umemiya goes on to give the life lesson of the day.

"I didn't take leadership. I was given the status. You can't become the top when you're alone, right? You can only reach the top by being lifted by everyone under you. It was only possible because there were people who agreed with my vision and wanted to help me.

That's why, when I became the top, I thought my dream no longer only belonged to me. That's exactly why, in order to make this dream a reality, no matter how difficult the path, no matter how unreasonable the climb is, no matter how absurd it gets, I will never lose."

Umemiya is saying words that people who believe in meritocracy will never say. He admits that he was in an environment where he could thrive. Sakura, our main hero, starts to slowly realize this. While still reluctant to accept other people around him at times, Sakura sees its power after his experience fighting a Shishitoren member during the team brawl. He even becomes driven at one point to hit Tomiyama before the leader battle after Tomiyama treated the member Sakura beat like he was disposable despite fighting with honorable conviction.

Hmmm... MILGRAM Magnus Archives AU ramble :-] I know a few people have done this AU for themselves but here's my take on a more story-based one.

Since we're dealing with an entirely different continent from the original source material, I don't really think there'd be an exact equivalent to the Archives in Japan. So, let's say there's an equivalent to the police force in canon that deal with paranormal incidents!

- Yuno would be the main character, having experienced some sort of paranormal incident in the past. She believes she's been entirely unaffected by it, but doesn't know she's been marked by the Stranger in the process. She's investigating her previous experiences with the help of her friends.

- Yuno is accompanied by her friends, Fuuta and Mahiru. Fuuta is an old friend from school who's been marked by the Desolation and, although trying to downplay it, believes Yuno's encounters. Mahiru is an acquaintance of hers who is into hobby ghost hunting and agreed to help her investigate local supernatural hotspots. She is unmarked. They also have a little base they do all of this in :3

- They collect various stories from years past of the area they are located in - including a seemingly recent violent supernatural outing in an abandoned house.

- One of the first encounters they have with anything concrete is Mikoto, an avatar of the Slaughter. He's in no state to listen to them and even tries to attack them at some point, since he's busy preparing their ritual. The group manages to escape and runs into a temporary ally -

- Kotoko and her group, avatars of the Hunt. Though, she doesn't seem as friendly as they first assumed. Fuuta and Mahiru end up angering them and barely escaping. They end up not being hurt too badly, but Kotoko is now trying to find them. Yuno and the two of them have to abandon their hub and always find new places to stay.

- Now suspicious of these people's movements is the supernatural sector of the police force, including Kazui. He's an acquaintance of Yuno's and Fuuta's, having been involved in their school at some point in the past.

- Yuno encounters the Spiral on her own due to her stress rapidly building up, and starts to have recurring dreams about a blue-haired boy. She also starts to see flashes of strange puppets wherever she goes. She does not tell the others as she doesn't want to worry them even more.

- Group morale is pretty low until they meet another self-declared investigator, which they are suspicious of first - considering what happened with Kotoko and all. This person, Muu, seems to have a good understanding of the entities, though, so they decide to keep in touch with her.

- The group finally has the courage to settle down again and investigate a serious threat - s cult worshipping the Dark. Their infiltration goes along pretty well, thanks to Muu, who blends in very well. One young girl, Amane, can see through Muu's charade and things almost go wrong. Their main building catches fire and the Desolation Gang shows up (yay fire). Fuuta is tempted by them and decides to join, the others assume he's gone missing.

- Police and Kotoko's group catch wind of the cult's defeat. They're close on the main crew's tracks again.

- Because there's a new slot to be filled, Muu introduces the group to her friend, Haruka. Yuno recognizes him. She's unnerved by him and Muu, sure, but she can't be cruel to Mahiru's new friends.

- Their next target is a hospital where an unnatural amount of people have passed recently. They pretty soon track the source of this to one of the doctors - Shidou, who has unknowingly been working for the End. Yuno, at the end of her nerves, tries to confront him directly, but fails to get anything substancial out of the interaction as she's stopped by Kazui and taken in for questioning. He can't get any solid proof on her, but he's certainly aware of her group now.

- As if things haven't gone bad enough, Kotoko and her friends track down their hideout and send them on a chase throughout the city so they can have more fun. This does not work as intended, when Muu finally shows her true nature and orders Haruka to send Kotoko and all of the other participants into the Stranger, resulting in the complete evisceration of Kotoko's group aside from her, but also severely injuring Mahiru in the process. Muu tells the two of the potential end of the world and her lacking interest in it as a web-aligned individual, though Haruka seems quite interested. Yuno and Mahiru are spit back out into the middle of nowhere, being told goodbye by Muu and to stay on their toes.

- They're at a complete loss of what to do. Mahiru is sent to the hospital where Shidou works, and Yuno has a genuine conversation with him. She convinces him to stop doing what he does to save her friend.

- Yuno's on her own now with the weight of the world on her shoulders, but she runs into a few familiar faces. She even manages to stop another of the Slaughter's attempted rituals.

- Yuno has a chat with Kazui, who admits to having known about the entities for a long time. The two of them are quite alike, much to Yuno's displeasure. She's not too fond of him. She considers giving up her hunt and leaving it to the police entirely, but she doesn't trust them quite enough - there's something she sensed when interacting with that policeman.

- Once Mahiru's free to go, she's not quite the same and insists something beautiful followed her into the hospital, something she doesn't quite understand.

- One night, Mahiru has gone missing. Yuno follows her, seeing she has bonded with a few insects she calls her beloved in an abandoned field in the middle of nowhere. Yuno tries to help her, but to no avail - Mahiru has fallen for the Corruption.

- On her own again, she decides to seek out Kazui's help to try and stop the end of the world. As she spends more time with him, she learns that he might have been consumed with the Lonely, her now almost being consumed along with him - and manages to barely save them both. Kazui leaves the force for good.

- With his help, she tracks down Fuuta. She asks him what he knows of the increase in rituals, even if he wasn't wholly accepted into the Desolation, he knows that everyone's preparing for the world to end as the Stranger commands it.

- Amane even joins up with them, alone and aimless. They believe they can track down the Eye and stop it before it happens.

- They track down the hub and try to invade. The end of the world occurs during the conflict and Yuno's allies are trapped in their domains.

- Yuno is now completely alone, having lost all of her allies. Here is where she encounters a strange child named Es, who is no longer an avatar of the Eye, but its representation. They are not aligned with the Stranger, so they are more sceptical than its servants. They grant her views of the entire world in shambles and offer her forgiveness.

- Yuno rejects their judgement and saves her friends one by one... They beat the Stranger and the world resets, the fear gods now gone for good. I ran out of ideas for this one

Momoi’s Secret Love for Water (Headcanon)

-Alright, Momoi's love for water (and what it means in KNB), is definitely a hidden element in the series, but it's there. -First of all, just take a look at her favourite green vest, and the way she wears blue at the swimming pool. Blue and green, like the sea? -Second of all, the fact we even meet her for the first time in an aquatic related setting. -Thirdly, who collects bath powders as a hobby, other then people who really love water and relaxing in it? (low-key, same. I have some bath bombs stocked even though I don't own a bath tub LMAO).

-And now we have the obvious visual and trivia info about Momoi out of the way, let's focus on her love for Kuroko who's the very representation of water itself, which goes beyond the fact his hair and eyes are blue coloured or that gag where he passes a seashell or even that he's the guardian of the Zone. Let me touch on the symbolism of water, how Kuroko embodies it and how it is the underlying reason why Seirin defeated the GOM.

Ever heard of Puscifer - The Humbling River? If you don't want to check out the song, basically, the summary of the song is this; there's a mighty king who's pretty much defeated everyone and conquered everything, including representations of the elements like icy winds. Only this river, and the element of water, remain undefeated. He prays over and over to an angel, who eventually answers him that he should forget all of his previous victories, that water cannot be defeated with riches, guns, strength or words. To defeat the river, he must open his heart and hands to his people, and that together they would defeat the river. Essentially, he must humble himself and ask for help.

This speaks of the long time association and philosophy people have had about water. Go with the flow, actually refers to how in real life, you should go along with the flow of water if you do not wish to drown. The more you fight against a current, the faster you will drown. The various things we have invented to control the water and to travel upon it, are usually made by various people as well. It's the element that requires unity and humility.

See where I'm getting at?

That's exactly the secret to Kuroko's strength and why Momoi fell so hard for him. He's like a tidal master who controls the flow of the game completely with his sense of unity and humility. The GOM were destined to lose once he enrolled Seirin. Rakuzan especially, because 4 out of the 5 main players having a huge sense of pride? Please, unlike some people in the fandom, I don't think Rakuzan losing was unrealistic at all once you realize what Kuroko is meant to symbolize. He's supposed to be their exact anti-thesis, and he formed a team around that mentality. Their arrogance in their strength is what crushed them.

Think about the fact that when Shutoku and Seirin were tied, Shutoku had become almost the exact same team as Seirin, even having their own light and shadow in Midorima and Takao. To have a chance to beat Seirin, you gotta be like Seirin and go with the flow. The only reason Aomine once won is just his sheer talent speaking.

Momoi and Free!'s Haruka Nanase definitely consider Kuroko the dream.

-For this reason, if Kuroko doesn't ends up returning her feelings as they grow up, I can definitely see Momoi be into someone with a profession related to water. She'll have definitely dated a cute lifeguard in her college years. -I think swimmers would have an especially soft spot in her heart because they both love water, but also sports (I could even see Momoi being a Free! fangirl if it's not taking place in the same universe). I don't see her chasing after basketball players as an adult because I see Momoi as the type of girl who'd like to keep her work life and private life somewhat seperate as in no dating anyone she might work with in the future (Kuroko has some great power but he won't make it to the NBA realistically).

-If Kuroko and Kagami ever were to hang out on the beach, she'll crash the party for both Kuroko and a good, refreshing swim. -She'll also be a fan of beach dates, but unlike Kagami, her self-made snacks for those outings are better left 'accidentally' dropped in the sand. -So when she starts crying because of it, offer her to buy her favourite ice cream flavour. -The two of you will sit together at the edge of the water, your toes digging into the wet sand as the water occasionally floods over your feet as you eat your ice cream together.

-As an adult, she owns the most luxurious bathroom ever. Even Akashi would be impressed. It would be the most expensive room in her house, and probably worth half of the entire building. -This includes a closet filled with bath powders and bath bombs. -You're never going to want to leave her bathroom. -If she ever breaks up with you, you're definitely going to miss her bathroom the most about her home.

-Momoi is somewhat into the mermaid aesthetic. -Definitely has a few mermaid themed items. -Ariel is her favourite Disney princess -Aomine still has war flashbacks about the Little Mermaid because of how often Momoi made him watch it. -When I think about Momoi with fancy jewelry, Momoi with pearl earrrings is superior to Momoi with gemstone ones. She's definitely the type of girl who could wear pearls. ( tagging my fellow Momoi appreciator @vespersposts   )

right okay so starting off with the big three series

Ultraman R/B: i admittedly have not watched this, but i consulted with my friend henri who has and this was the top recc for ultras. so yknow! reports say theres lesbians in this. in general seasons of ultraman tend to be shorter so its an easier watch

Kamen Rider Fourze: this is genuinely such a good rider which is why my url is based on it. the setting is just, japanese high school based on american high school but specificially the kind you see in movies about being in high school, starring gentaro who is determined to befriend everyone in the universe, and a very cute space theme + the power of friendship. when i was watching it i kept being like "wow gentaro is literally a magical girl protag" bc he has such infectious cheerful energy :)

Gokaiger: I feel like this is THE quintissential anniversary season. funky space pirate polycule accidentally stumbles into the role of protecting earth. There's a lot of features of past sentais as well as tons of actors reprising their roles for this one, so if you spot a different sentai you think you might like this is imo the best showcase of it. ahim is also #mygirlboss

now this next recc is an independently made toku but its really really good and i'd be remiss to not mention it

Dogengers: Local heroes in the Fukuoka prefecture are left scattered to the wind after the villainous Yabai Kamen manages to take over! It's up to a newly recruited hero, "Rookie", to bring them back together. Dogengers also has a second and third season, being Nice Buddy and High School, respectively.

Okay now this section is like "ones I really enjoyed but I wouldn't really consider them incredibly optimal starting points but i like the them"

Shinkenger: Shinken is a bit more of a serious romp, but its done soooo well it makes me go silly mode every time. Featuring a crew of samurai descended from a long line of warriors, they're all just doing their best to finally defeat the evil spirits that enter the human world. Takeru is such a team lead ever and i like how everyone on the team has a different opinion about their duty. yknow.

Gekiranger: GECK GECK!!!! tldr there are two schools of arts in a power struggle, beast arts and evil beast arts. you will never be able to guess who the antagonists belong to based on these naming conventions. starring the most feral man i have ever seen in my life [bc he was taken from the jungle], jan, who is a naturally talented fighter chosen to help defeat the evil beast arts users for the sake of humanity or something. my personal favorite character is mele who is in fact evil but she was really hot while doing it so she gets a pass. her transformation is a chameleon and her suit is designed so that the eyes of the chameleon are positioned directly where her tits are, which is a detail i cannot ignore

Donbrothers: this one is currently ongoing and frankly i dont know how to explain it. its definitely a departure from traditional sentais, featuring the main team in more of an ensemble arrangement since for the majority of the show they dont all know each others identities. theres a lot of major moving parts and its honestly a really wild ride, but i enjoy seeing how the different story pieces unfold. the main character is haruka kito, the most 17 year old high school girl ever who is a disgraced mangaka. she is stubborn and honestly a spitfire, and there is something wrong with her. at one point she gets kidnapped and goes "wow! this will be a great experience to put into my next manga!" even though there is not a single publishing agency that would touch her stuff with a 10 foot pole. she is an inspiration to me to become less normal. donbrothers is technically a sequel to the series right before it, but i dont think you need to watch it because there is exactly one character carried over and he is nothing like how he was in the previous season.

Den-o: oughhh the . with the scrumbly... den-o is genuinely one of my favorite riders as well. the main character Ryoutarou is one of the most sopping wet pathetic 18 year old guys ever and he is being so brave about it. hes a bit of an airhead and definitely a pushover, but its honestly one of the reasons i love him so much. den-o is about ryoutarou becoming a rider with the help of possession from 4 other imagin, which are beings sprung up from the sands of time which seek out people with strong desires to grant their wishes. once those wishes are fufilled, the imagin can enter the past of a person and wreak havoc. the goal of most normal imagin[read: not the ones that hang out with ryou] is to destroy the future, but Ryoutarou and his gaggle of weirdos ride the Denliner to help protect it. It's soooo good okay. den o was super popular so it has a billion spinoff mini series and cameos in other riders but i think it stands best on its own

Exaid: now i want to be clear here and tell you. exaid is not good. exaid is okay and is good in my mind. but it was my first rider so i am attached. It's a part medical drama part video game full time wild fuckin ride where our main character Emu Hojo becomes an intern at a special hospital unit where the staff is able to transform into riders to help fight against the Bugster virus, a special strain of disease that if left untreated allows bugsters [video game entities] to manifest in the real world, killing the patient in the process. The medical drama part is really just a catalyst to the video game stuff, but seeing Emu have his patience tested by the most insane men in the world is worf. Also the nurse Asuna/Poppy is literally sooooo virusgender and I want to steal her gender so bad. i would talk abt dan kuroto since youve probably seen me post abt him before but i feel hes best experienced than explained. just know hes got autism and issues.

Changerion: prolly the oldest toku ive picked up, this one isnt really comparable to anything. its definitely slower paced than the other series ive reccomended so far, and it can definitely feel unfocused. it also suffers from having a reduced episode count [which was cut due to lack of popularity]. in spite of this, i think it was one of my favorite watches ever. The main character, Akira, is a wildly out of control bisexual man. on adderall. He's a detective without work and the first case he manages to land in a while ends up with him in a car crash that grants him the ability to transform. However, instead of being excited with his new purpose in life, he pretty much just tries to slack off and dodge responsibility as much as possible, much to the chagrin of Hayami [the man originally meant to be the one transforming]. Akira very reluctantly fights against the darkzeid, who feast on humanity for power and can open gateways to whats pretty much just a hell dimension. Kuroiwa is a standout character as well, being an antagonist but just so bizzarely charming he ended up as a favorite. He's a darkzeid who wants to integrate with humanity but instead of finding normal ways to do it, he just tries taking over japan. yknow how it is.

EDIT: chewing on glass how could I forget

The High School Heroes: this is only 8 episodes very short but also the episodes are long so it's longshort. Featuring a tokuota (toku otaku) who's obsessed with gorengers(first ever sentai) bringing together his classmates to form a defense club since students keep mysteriously turning into monsters! Also featuring a transfem character who's arc made me cry and she's also my best friend btw. There's a lot of references to gorengers overall but you don't have to know it to go oh it looks cool

Tojoctober Day 3 - Safe

Yuta protects the orphanage from some wannabe looters.

(not really any spoilers, since the summary is the spoiler lol)

Cheer and laughter echo from the area of Morning Glory Orphanage, as the residents there enjoy a day off from their responsibilities. The boys, led by Yuta Usami, are playing with Mame in the front area of the building. The girls sit on the porch, while baby Haruto practices walking between them. It's a peace often seen in this place, this sanctuary from the horrors of their world.

That is, until Mame runs away from the group of boys, into the middle of the road, and starts barking. 

"What is it, boy?" Koji runs up to where Mame is still barking, and sees a group of thugs walking up the path, incredibly close to the building. 

"Oh.. crap, crap, crap!" Koji scoops up Mame and sprints towards everyone. Yuta and Taichi run to meet him.

"What's going on, Koji-kun?"

Koji stops, places Mame down, and pants heavily, speaking between breaths.

"People… a lot of them… they look like bad news!"

Yuta's face hardens. "I'll figure out what's going on. Koji, get Mame," He looks over to the girls as Koji bends down and scoops Mame up again. "Haruka, keep Haruto close to you. Ayako, get everyone inside!"

The kids start scrambling, faces showing worry and confusion, as the older girls usher everyone inside.

"I'll stay with you, Yuta-san."

"I'll put Mame inside and get Mitsuo. He'll want to help you two. And I do too." Koji shouts as he runs off, dog in tow.

Yuta hesitates "Guys, you don't have to-"

"You don't have to defend the orphanage, yet here you are." Taichi retorts.

"I'm not trying to stop you." Yuta responds. He knows if he lets the kids get hurt at all, Kiryu would not let him rest once it was his time. "Just, promise me you'll fall back if you get hurt?"

Taichi nods grimly. "If it comes to that."

Koji and Mitsuo emerge from the building, and together, the boys walk into the middle of the front yard, assuming a defensive position.

The looters turn into the space, 6 muscular people wearing face masks.

"What are you trying to accomplish?" Yuta's voice booms, trying desperately to hide his fear. There were a lot more guys than he thought.

"What are we trying to accomplish?" The person in the front responds, their voice muffled slightly by their mask. "Ha! We have a gut feeling that there's something precious inside there, and we want it!"

"Yeah? And you think we'll hand it to you?" Taichi yells back.

"Judging by your attitude, this is going to get messy. Get them!"

The party of looters starts charging at the defensive line. 

"We're protecting our home!" Yuta yells, followed by the shouts of the other guys, as they meet the looters charge.

A large fight commences, and while the looters have the number advantage, Yuta and the kids were heavily underestimated. Taichi wrestles one of the looters to the ground while Koji punches another in the diaphragm. Yuta comes up from behind, throws a haymaker into a looter, and picks Mitsuo up off the ground. As the fight continues to progress, the looters begin to gain an upper hand. Thankfully, the kids keep their promise to Yuta, and retreat into Morning Glory before receiving too much of a beating. Soon enough, Yuta is the last one standing, squaring off with the leader bandit. The looter slams a fist into Yuta's stomach, knocking the wind out of him. He goes to follow it up with a punch, and Yuta prepares to brace himself.

Yuta gasps instead, as the last opponent is hit with the hilt of a blade. He crumples to the ground, and behind him stands another, way more intimidating figure. This one, a man, is wearing an eyepatch with a snake adorned on it. His outfit of a snakeskin jacket and black leather everything would make Yuta raise an eyebrow, but right now, he's regaining his breath and scared shitless.

The man walks up to Yuta, sheaths his blade, and sizes him up. Even though he's only a few inches taller when Yuta stands upright again, it feels like Eyepatch Man is towering over the young one.

"Yer the one keepin’ em safe?" The man speaks in what Yuta registers to be a Kansai accent.

Yuta swallows. "Y-yes."

The man scoffs, his eye wandering the space around them. Yuta wants to see where he's looking, but he can't bring himself to move. He doesn't want to remember what it feels like to get stabbed. His brain runs wild, trying to think of something to do other than stand here.

The eyepatch man brings him back to his senses by grabbing his chin, tilting his head around, seemingly inspecting the younger man. Yuta winces a bit.

"Good head on yer shoulders. Definitely can handle yerself. You…"

The man trails off, distracted by something, Yuta can't fathom what. He hears the man clear his throat, and makes eye contact with Yuta, his gaze softening ever so slightly. 

"Take care of her."

And with that, the man turns around, grabs the unconscious intruder by the arm, and drags him away. 

Yuta glances around and now notices the rest of the looters are gone as well. Was that Eyepatch Man's doing?

"Yuta!" Yuta whirls around, and sees Haruka, near the front step of the entrance, her expression creased with worry.

"Haruka!" Yuta runs up to the entrance of the building, enveloping Haruka in an embrace. "Are you okay?"

Haruka makes a sound of agreement. “Everyone’s ok, Yuta.”

Yuta puts his head on Haruka’s shoulder and sighs. "It's OK. You're safe now. I promise."

He holds her for what feels like forever, and eventually, the other kids emerge from the building and join the hug. 

On the front step of Morning Glory sits a mess of people clinging onto each other, some carefully making sure their bruises aren't touched, but they're locked in a moment of reprieve and newfound peace.

I wanted to try writing for multiple characters it’s my first time for some of them so sorry if it seems ooc

: Sakura Haruka. Suo Hayato. Nirei Akihito. Sugishita Kyoutaro. Umemiya Hajime. Kaji Ren.

❥ Sakura is dumbfounded by your request. What’s a piggyback and why do you want to ride it? Poor boy is extremely confused by your words. You’d have to explain to him what it is. Once he knows what it is, he’s steaming red from blushing, because you want him to carry you?!He’s sweating hard, your body is pressed against his and your thighs they’re so soft. He said five minutes only but he ended up carrying you to wherever you wanted to go despite the complaints. He’s secretly melting inside because you’re so close to him.

“Urgh...Fine! Just five minutes, okay?!”

❥ Suo clocks his head to the side as a gentle smile graces his face.Suo gracefully knees down, positioning his arms-readying. He looks like a regal prince, as he patiently waits for you to get on his back. When he tries to stand he’ll fake almost falling over, making you scared so that you’d press your body closer to him and that you’d wrap your arms around his neck. When walking he’ll pretend to trip or tickle your thighs. You’re on his back at his complete mercy to do as he pleases, he won’t let you down easily.

“If you don’t hold on tightly, you’ll fall〜”

❥ Nirei has frozen into a statue at your words. You want him to carry you. Here? Right now?! Only after he starts to panic so you try your best to reassure that it was just a joke and that he didn’t have to. Nirei accepts because who is he to say no to you? He’s nervous, he’s worried he might hold you the wrong way or that he won’t be able to carry you. A lot of reassurance is needed and in the end he manages to do it. He’ll get really tired and sweaty but refuse to back down, despite your worries for him.

“I’m o-okay, I can k-keep going….”

❥ Sugishita stares at you blankly, his blank face has you sweating questioning your request to him. However, before you could explain to him that it's a joke and that he doesn’t have to. He nods then crouches down, arms positioned behind him. You had to do a double take at the suddenness of it before mustering the courage and getting on. His grip on you is strong and the view is great from up here. Just point in whatever direction and he’ll go.

“……where?”

❥ Umemiya bounces around in happiness, unable to stay still from excitement. You don’t have to tell him he’s already crouched down ready to go. He’ll usher you to quickly get on. His grip on you is secure; you don’t have to worry about falling. Until he starts breaking out into a run, making airplane sounds. You had to hold on for dear life because he sure runs fast. He’ll continue to have you on his back as he visits the town people and speaks to his fellow team members. You’re embarrassed but he’s not, he’s proud to have you on his back.

“I wonder if Kotoha-chan will let me carry her too!”

❥ Kaji’s eyes widen in surprise his mouth opens but before he could say anything he sticks his lollipop back into his mouth again. He remains silent as crouches down, not moving until you’re comfortable on his back. The whole ride is silent, you’re not even sure where he’s taking you. No matter who tries to approach or talk to him, they are completely ignored. You have to silently apologize to them from his back. He eventually brings you to a park and let’s you down. He then goes to sit and lean on a tree, patting the spot next to him for you to sit. When you do, he lays down to rest his head on your lap.

“I’m going to sleep….”

Hi hi! How have you been? Any holiday plans coming up?

So, requesting rants about favorite side characters you say? Well, it sounds like the perfect time to tell you about my self ship with Fukunaga from Nekoma! I don't think his little sister is ever named, so I took some liberties with her character.

We're in the same year, but we don't share any classes. I'm in one of the college prep classes, he's an okay student but doesn't plan on going to college. We've never really had the chance to interact. We have shared glances in the hallways though. I can't help but quietly giggle at his jokes with his friends as I walk by, he thinks I'm pretty cute. He's in volleyball, I'm in softball. We're practically worlds apart even though we're both right there.

He finally gets his opportunity once his little sister, Haruka, joins the middle school softball team. He promises her that he'll come to as many of her games as possible. It's at her first game that he sees me sitting in the bleachers. He wanders up and sits next to me, but not too close, he's a gentleman and doesn't want me to feel uncomfortable.

He introduces himself and asks if I have a sister there too. I don't, but I do help coach the team on days where my own teammates don't bother to show up for practice. We chat on and off through the game making sure we're still aware of the game itself. His sister's team ends up winning.

On their walk home he interrogates Haruka on what she knows about me. It turns out that I work pretty close with her since we're both pitchers.

After several games worth of somewhat getting to know me, he decides he wants to see one of my games. Knowing there was no chance of convincing Kenma, he convinces Tora to go with him, talking up all the (probably) hot girls on the team (he has no idea who's actually on Nekoma's team, he just didn't want to go by himself and knew just what to say to convince the Ace).

They enjoy themselves even though my team loses. He can tell I've put in a ton of work at practice even if most my teammates seem apathetic at best. My wind-up isn't as flashy as the other teams but my pitches themselves are pretty effective. (Have you seen windmill pitching?! It's so cool but I could just never control the ball that way.)

At Haruka's next game he asks me about my team. I tell him about how most of the girls don't really care and how we've never won a single game. He's surprised by how unbothered I am by that and asks why. I explain how I'm just so used to losing at this point that I can't be disappointed when I'm expecting that very outcome. A team is only as strong as it's players and if 75% of those players refuse to put in the effort to get better then the team is destined to stagnate. He finds that sad but understandable.

We end up becoming closer, friends even. He loves the sound of my laugh and I always laugh at how silly he can be. I start showing up to his tournaments and am even invited to his home, usually by his sister for extra coaching and practice. She recognizes that he's developing feelings for me and suspects the same of me. Haruka tries to be subtle about it around me and succeeds since I don't notice, but she's not subtle around Shōhei trying to get him to ask me out before we graduate and probably drift apart (she's pretty darn smart for her age).

He doesn't end up asking me out and come graduation we do drift apart, his sister never lets him hear the end of it. He moves out and into his own apartment, goes to work as a chef and gets into stand up comedy. I go away for college. Life goes on.

A few years later he comes into work to the excited buzzing of the rest of the workers. Apparently there's a new server on the wait staff. His fellow cook loudly proclaiming how cute she is and hoping he has a chance with her.

An hour or so later the manager on shift brings me back into the kitchen as part of my training and to introduce me to my new coworkers. Fukunaga is surprised to say the least, the other chef disappointed that he probably doesn't have a chance since Shōhei and I already know each other.

After the restaurant closes, he asks if I'd like to go to a nearby izakaya to catch up. I agree and we have a good time together. He learns that college life didn't really suit me and I dropped out. It turned out that my parents pretty much forced me into a high paying field I wasn't really interested in, I ended up being really overwhelmed and burnt out from all of the studying.

After a long slow burn of me going to his comedy gigs and hanging out after our shared shifts, we end up getting together eventually!

This is so sweet!

And to everyone else! Please! Rant to me about your favorite Character!!!!

Also, no holiday plans on my side, I don't celebrate anything.

But since everything here is kinda a mess right now and I suck at relaxing if left to myself, I'm going over to a friend's house for a few days - she lives about an hour away. Her kids are surely going to use every minute I spend there so I won't have time to think. Just like I need it.
