I’ve seen some people getting mixed up on whether some characters in musicals are juniors or seniors in high school so I thought I’d make a post about it

the kids in Heathers are seniors, Veronica literally says “First day of senior year” in the song Beautiful

Evan, Connor, Jared, and Alana are seniors. Connor’s mom tells Connor it’s his first day of senior year in the beginning of the musical, and we also see Evan graduated one year after the events of DEH. we can probably assume Jared’s in the same grade as him, and we know Alana was in the same class as Connor, so she’s also a senior. Zoe is the only junior during the events of DEH, because at the end when one year has passed, Evan asks her what’s it like being a senior

if we assume all of the kids in BMC are the same age, then they’d all be juniors but I don’t think we know that for sure. what we do know, is that Jeremy and Michael are definitely juniors. in the song More Than Survive, Jeremy sings to himself “a junior on the bus is killer weak”, which would mean it’d look lame if he took the bus because he’s a junior. in Two-Player Game, Michael basically says “just wait two years [until we graduate] whereupon, you’ll realize guys like us are cool in college” which would mean they’re both still juniors because they still have two more years until they graduate

Heather stretched, taking a moment to move around after having sat still and focused on her work for so long. She was super stiff and it was killing her.

And that’s when the obnoxious doorbell buzzing began.

The young mage, for good reason, just assumed it was one of the neighborhood kiddos playing whatever games they thought were funniest. Normally, she would’ve ignored it and gone back to work, because usually Lav answered the door. Mainly because getting her off her ass was a challenge in itself and it was easier for him to do it.

But Lav wasn’t here right now. He was out training with Undyne.

Crap.

With a loud, overly-dramatic groan, Heather shouted across the apartment, “I’m coming,” drawing it out as much as humanly possible as she flopped out of her desk chair. She felt bad for her downstairs neighbors.

Actually reaching the front door was a trial all on its own, seeing as she had realized all too late that her legs were practically dead. So, after a balancing act that felt like it took ages longer than it actually did, she poked her head out the door to just find… some teenager chilling on the stairs. She didn’t recognize them, so she assumed they were new, maybe a tourist.

Opening the door farther, she adorned a friendly smile and waved at the stranger so as to get their attention. “Hey, um, person chilling on the stairs? Did you need anything? Or was it someone else ringing the doorbell?”

[❀]  In the span of the minute it took the apartment’s occupant to show up at the door, Steel had been contemplating on various things; the most outstanding being that the thought of jumping from the building’s roof was suddenly very enticing. At least in comparison to the *Route they’d been forced into at the moment. There was a stack of papers in their lap, questionnaires filled, filed or pending. The only thing that kept them going was that they’d at least been allowed to choose the subject of their school survey -that was a small relief.

 Sharp hearing brought the dragged out call to their attention. They waited patiently on the stairs, twirling their plain blue pen between forefinger and thumb as they did. And when the door open it took them a few seconds to snap out of their thoughts and push themself up to face the resident. Their expressionless face would not betray the surprise they felt; they’d finally happened upon someone that wasn’t an elderly or a monster.

 Right eye opened slowly, its sibling’s lid fluttering in an effort to remain shut. Deep shades of red embraced the dilated pupil.

 They approached in a couple of long strides, braids dancing around their shoulders and bracelets jingling as they were piled up on each of their wrists. Shiny silver rings embellished their fingers, wrapped around the folder and paper stack they were carrying in the most airy of ways -should a paper or two slip it seemed as if they weren’t even going to make an effort to pick it up. Standing at an unimpressive five feet three, they tilted their chin upwards to meet Heather’s face -the way she towered over them admittedly caused a mild discomfort.

 A deep breath was drawn and then words burst out of their mouth in the most apathetic of tones. The way their raspy voice uttered them in monotone made the fact they’d memorized and repeated the same line plenty of times today painfully obvious. They didn’t even pause to take a quiet breath until after the full sentence was out.

 “Hi, my name is Frisk, I’m a junior in Jefferson High would you perhaps be willing to lend me a few minutes of your day for a survey I’m doing for the school and help me get an actual grade this semester?”
