laneee i've gotta know, what does evan think about pandoralecto? does he care about it at all? what does he think of alecto? what does he think of amycus? what does amycus think of pandoralecto/pandora/evan?

ok SO. yes let’s talk about the siblings. i think evan hates pandoralecto! because he doesn’t understand it and he’s never not understood his sister. my hc is that the first time evan or pandora has a relationship outside of each other, the other twin develops major beef with whomever they’re with. (pandora hates barty sorry!!) so like evan is mad when he finds out! i think pandora probably mentions it’s nonchalantly and evan just does not know what to say. he hates that pandora’s attention is elsewhere on another person. but he also just hates alecto in solidarity with his sister. he doesn’t necessarily understand her reasons for hating alecto but that doesn’t matter.

amycus has very complicated feelings on pandoralecto i think. like on one hand he’s kind of relieved to be temporarily released from the prison that is his sister. if alecto is sexually terrorizing pandora she’s not sexually terrorizing him. but on the other hand he’s kinda lost. like while i see the rosier twins being weirdly codependent they’re also somehow securely independent too. but the carrows could never. they go crazy when they’re away from each other for more than 30 minutes. so amycus is just like. damn what am i supposed to do now. he’s like looking at pictures of alecto in his phone and moping around their empty apartment.

i think evan and amycus could tolerate each other but they never will. just out of principle. like they could totally coexist just side by side working on their research but they’ll never let themselves get to that point. it’s indifference more than anything else but their opinions about each other are colored by their sisters’ relationship.

also worth mentioning that each pair of twins thinks the other pair is Bad at being twins. because their dynamics are so different. the carrows see the rosiers as uncaring because their relationship is so easy. they don’t constantly have to be on top of each other and that reads to the carrows as a lack of devotion. and the rosiers see the carrows as deeply unhealthy and Weird (because they are). they’re like “they could never share the eternal cerebral unknowable bond that we share. have you seen the bite marks alecto leaves all over amycus’ neck 🙄. degenerates.”

If you ever feel able, please consider continuing your Caius/Athena x Reader fic. I've always thought it was really good and would love to see it become a full series. It had so much potential and ways to be developed. Honestly, it's one of your best Twilight works, along with the Romanians fics. You really explored the complexity of these characters, even when you didn't write much for them, you still managed to do it. But I understand if you don't want to. But if you change your mind and think you can continue, please do! ❤

Originally reported on the 14th, the Daily Prophet is disheartened to announce an update on the missing shop owner. Hendrix Zonko was located deceased inside the Ministry of Magic’s visitor entrance in a particularly gruesome scene. A dark mark was cast over the phone booth and the Ministry is hard at work to discover the reasoning behind it. An official announcement has yet to be made about whether or not this is an isolated attack or more is expected to come. The public is being asked to proceed with caution at this time.

17 January 1983: Pandora Rosier ALIVE

A body was located among the rubble of what was once Zonko’s Joke Shop’s storeroom after the explosion. Members of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement secured the scene and have been preventing passerby from entering the premises. A source close to the Prophet stated Pandora Rosier was dumped unconscious in the storeroom and is recovering at St. Mungo’s. The DoMLE and her family neglected to comment on this development.

A notably unremarkable morning in Hogsmeade was interrupted by an explosion as one of the stores crumbled to the ground. Several shrieks echoed around the street, with the panic growing upon spotting a dark mark cast over the building. Abraxas Malfoy, Gideon Prewett, and Marlene McKinnon have been credited with securing the scene and ensuring the Department of Magical Law Enforcement was notified promptly. The initial sweep of the building revealed no one inside the store or on the upper level. It is believed Hendrix Zonko is missing, with the Auror and Hitwix teams working closely to find him. No other information about the disappearance is available at this time. Dark forces may be at work and we plan to provide a thorough report once the Minister makes a statement.

Several passersby were caught in the path of fallen debris. Lily Potter narrowly avoided being hit by fallen stone, while Mary Macdonald was struck by debris, receiving treatment at the scene. Amos Diggory and his son appeared rather shaken up as they gave an eyewitness report to law enforcement personnel. The two were taken to St. Mungo's, with our reporter and photographer getting flipped off by father and son for trying to pry for information before their departure. Daily Prophet reporters were barred from getting close to the scene. We are uncertain about the extent of injuries and destruction at this time and have been asked to encourage witnesses to contact the Department of Magical Law Enforcement if they have information relevant to the ongoing case.

With little information to go off of, the Ministry as a whole is at a loss. There is reason to believe the Death Eaters are attempting to resurface. No news of the Dark Lord's return has been shared with the public. Alecto Nott, Amycus Carrow, Antonin Dolohov, Emma Vanity, Rita Skeeter, and Tav Nott have been publicly praised by the Dark Lord for masterminding the attack.

admin cherry popping in here with a bit of a sad post. it’s with a heavy heart that i realize that my time here in hidden has come to an end for now. the past three years have been incredible, getting to write and develop these amazing characters alongside all of the members of the group. i will cherish all of the memories i made, along the writing and the wonderful wonderful talent that i’ve had the chance to interact with. unfortunately, i do need to step away from the rp scene for a bit, as things in real life need my attention more right now. thank you to all of the admin team for allowing me to take part in running such an incredible roleplay group, and thank you to all of the members for your creativity and talent and letting me be a part of it all — hiddenwashington is always going to hold a special place in my heart. i will miss everyone so much, and i wish you all nothing but the best going forward!

her father was not a first born carrow, though the pressure to have a male child was still ever present. she and hestia were disappointments, but flora was treated as even more of a spare. she was unexpected, somehow evading magical detection in the womb and often forgotten by the family. left to her own devices, she developed a personality so different from the carrow’s usual darkness and cruelty.

she was what her aunt and uncle called a bleeding heart and she was often the subject of ridicule at family dinners, the only time they even paid attention to her was to pass out insults. they found her silly, too much of a romantic to properly exist in the world. she rejected the family’s dark teachings and endured ridicule.

during her aunt’s reign at hogwarts she was forced into performing the dark arts on other students. she was not brave and like many snakes her self-preservation was an all-consuming trait. despite her reluctance to perform dark magic she took to it like a charm. her wand seemed to sing whenever she casted a spell and the part of her that felt disconnected to magic suddenly felt whole. 

she ran from the battle, because while her body rejoiced in darkness she knew her mind and her heart could never take the guilt associated with fighting for the dark lord and she could never fight against her family ( even through years of verbal abuse she still felt connected to them ). she was evacuated with the younger students. 

driven by guilt, she broke her wand in half after news of the battle’s deaths hit her.

she does not believe that her aunt & uncle, or even her father deserves leniency for their war crimes and she refuses to speak on their behalf at their trials. 

while the misogyny of the slytherin quidditch team kept her from playing, she had always been a skilled seeker in casual games. 

rather than going back to do an eighth year, she immediately sat for newts and spent the year after the battle on a broom. she tried out for puddlemere the following year and sat the bench for two years before finally making the starting lineup.

she has disconnected herself from her family, even going so far as to refuse her family’s wealth. this does not mean that she’s had to give up her luxuries, quidditch pays well as do the brand deals and modeling opportunities that have come with it.

Post War HCs

I always kind of get annoyed when writers, shows or movies ignore the physical or mental trauma that their characters have. I understand in Harry Potter where the characters aren’t really shown past their first 7 years but I do have some personal HCs about how each of the characters fared following the second Wizarding War and the Battle of Hogwarts

All was not well.

Harry gets sensory overload, he’s anxious all the time, and over the following years he becomes a bit of a control freak, since he felt like he could barely control things around him as a teen. He spent nearly 7 years telling himself and others that he wanted to be an Auror, and he followed through, going through the training, passing his exams and finally becoming an Auror.

He gets burnout in less than 2 years before eventually resenting his job. It’s not for lack of trying, they do a lot the first few months in active duty and he moves up the ranks faster than anyone in Ministry history (being the chosen one has it’s perks).

But he feels like there’s so much that’s put on his plate, that he can’t control. Harry spent seven years at Hogwarts dodging Daily Prophet interviews and trying to live up to the expectations of being the Chosen One, and he hoped that after he killed Voldemort, those expectations would have been met and he could finally have some peace. 

The expectations grew. So did criticisms. Any singular mistake the Auror department made fell under his responsibility, at least, according to the press. 

At the one and a half year mark, he breaks, doesn’t show up for work one day, dodges his family and friends and takes off for a few weeks. He shows up later to press shoving their quick-quotes quills in his face and hands in an immediate notice of resignation. 

All was not well.

Hermione still wakes up in the middle of the night with stinging flesh, and she has to check over her limbs to make sure that Bellatrix didn’t somehow carve another slur into her, even though Hermione knows she’s dead. 

Sometimes she can still feel the knife carving into her arm, can still feel the blood dripping out of the wound.

She develops a fear of snakes over time, even the smallest garden snake makes her jump, considering her experience with snakes during the war was less than satisfactory, to say the least

Hermione puts her guard up when meeting diplomats as she rises the Ministry ranks. She never knows who is going to spout anti- muggle rhetoric in her face. She walks with her wand always in her hand. 

She never knows if a Voldemort sympathizer will jump out and attack her when she walks down Diagon Alley. 

All was not well.

Ron can’t be away from Hermione or Harry for too long or he gets separation anxiety. Spending nearly a decade in life or death situations makes him nearly unable to function unless he knows they’re both okay. 

Ron still feels a curling sensation in his gut if he is away from Hermione for too long. Sometimes he wakes up screaming her name when his nightmares make him relive the sounds of her being tortured by Bellatrix. 

After the third time of him showing up at her doorstep at odd hours of the night, she takes him to buy a landline so he can just call to confirm her safety.

Ron needs reassurance that his friends won’t leave him. He spent his whole life being mistaken or compared to his siblings. There is always that sinking feeling in his mind that one day, his friends will realize that they’re better than him, and they’ll move on.

It takes years of reassuring before he begins to believe it himself.

All was not well.

Fred lives, but his hearing is permanently damaged from the explosion. Sometimes he can still hear ringing sounds of the blast and his ears will randomly bleed. 

He tries to hold it together, to prove that he doesn’t need help with his hearing. 

It takes about eight months before he concedes and allows his mother to take him to get his ears looked at, but by that point the damage is too far down, so he tries muggle hearing aids. 

Sometimes Fred can still feel his lungs crushing in while he struggles to take another breath, can feel his ribcage closing in on his heart. Whoever he’s closest too will have to sit down with him and remind him that he’s not under a dark pile of rubble, unable to scream or speak or breath.

Sometimes it’s impossible for him to hear them though because when he has panic attacks his ears just, shut off, or he’ll rip out his aid. 

All was not well.

George still gets insane migraines and feels phantom pains on the left side of his head. He has to take potions to quell the constant pounding sensation in his head. 

He can never be apart from Fred for long. The five minutes of terror he went through when he believed his twin brother was dead have made him constantly worried for his brothers safety so he babies him all the time. Fred eventually gets fed up with him and snaps a few months in, yelling at him to “stop treating me like a child!”

George breaks down sobbing and they both end up going to joint therapy.

George is tired all the time. His job of being around kids in the shop all the time, working 12+ hour days, for 4-6 days a week tires him out. He needs his sleep. 

Fred often finds him slumped over at his desk or at a register and sends him home. 

He hits his breaking point when he refuses to sleep or rest for over 3 days and collapses while restocking.

Fred and George learn to enforce specific schedules, shifts no longer than ten hours for them and no more than nine for their employees. 

All was not well.

Ginny, Neville, Luna, Dean, and Seamus still wake up from nightmares of the first years screaming under the punishment of the Carrow twins. 

They snuck as many as possible into the Room of Requirement. 

But it wasn’t enough, and they all have memories scraped into their skulls of sending the body of a first year Hufflepuff home to sobbing parents after Amycus Carrow caught her reading the Quibbler. 

Ginny feels her scalp on fire years after her 6th year from when Alecto Carrow dragged her by the hair. 

She begins to tear out her own hair.

Ginny eventually breaks and just shaves her whole head.

All was not well.

Neville retreats into his shell of plants and disappears into greenhouse three to his venomous tentacula when he feels panicked.

He has to create a rigid schedule for himself, a response to the undiscernible chaos of his school years. 

All was not well.

Luna starts seeing her mother again in her dreams, her screams as she died mirroring the ones of the students that screamed out for help while they were still in school.

All was not well.

Dean and Seamus rent an apartment together and open a pub because if they aren’t always in each others line of sight, panic shoots through their hearts. Seamus throws all his energy into cooking and Dean controls most of the serving and financial aspects of the place.

All was not well.

Molly Weasley still glances at her family clock in fear, though now a few more names have been added to it, waiting for the hands of Harry, Ron, and Hermione to switch back to “Mortal Peril” like they did so often while the three were horcrux hunting.

All was not well.

Arthur Weasley clings to his muggle objects like a shield and eventually develops a light hoarding problem. Molly and the children have to force him to go through each item. Harry and Hermione sit down with him and explain the purpose of each object until he’s ready to let a lot of it go. 

All was not well.

Minerva McGonagall still is on the lookout for kids that look like they come from dangerous homes. Kids that need her help. She worries after 7 years of chaos when the other shoe will drop, and waits with baited breath for news to come through that another catastrophic event will occur within the walls of Hogwarts, walls which were supposed to keep students safe. 

All was not well.

Draco Malfoy spends hours in the shower scrubbing at his scar, trying to make it disappear, he cuts into it at some point with a knife and his mother gently forces him to enter himself into a temporary psych ward after she finds him bloodied and passed out on his bathroom floor.

All was not well. All was never well.

in recent years she's become the ambassador for the magical aspect of neverland (tigerlily is the ambassador for neverlandians not affected by any magic) and many of the old idiots of auradon thought she would be easily manipulated. they were very wrong. now everyone knows that if elinora tilts her head and smiles at you with cold eyes, you're about to be the clown.

despite being an ambassador, she spends as much time as she can in neverland and away from auradon, which she can barely stand.

she would absolutely fight peter pan. the only reason she doesn't is because she likes tinker bell enough not to.

she hates how finicky the olympians can be, as with persephone handling the underworld in hades' absence, demeter is constantly whining, and thus won't help with spring and summer, so changing the seasons is solely on the never fairies' shoulders.

she's glad that never fairies are immortal, not only because she would miss her friends and family, but because it means her parents will have the means to be in power for a long time and won't feel particularly inclined to pass their crowns over to her. she's good at her job, but she doesn't want to run both parts of the hollow's forests by herself.

gabriel has been briefly mentioned in the published chapters of aotp so far and is mentioned by his older sister, evangeline, who is dennis’ best friend.

he’s a bit snarky and often mutters quips under his breath when people aren’t listening.

the reason he’s in hufflepuff is because he cares about matters of fairness. after hearing about the war and prejudices from his older sister, he formed his own opinion, the bottom line of which was that everyone should be treated equally, magic or not, and he won’t hesitate to speak up about it.

his parents are muggles, making him and his sister muggleborn, and they all went into hiding from 1997-1998.

gabriel’s first proper role in the story will be in part one, around the easter holidays when ella gets to have a real conversation with him for the first time.

amycus and alecto carrow are her uncle and aunt as well as her boggart.

being in the carrow family, she was raised to believe in pureblood supremacy, but her curious nature led to her doing her research and developing her own opinion. this is why her own family targeted her from a young age.

her mother died fighting for the death eaters during the second wizarding war and her father was incarcerated for the same thing. she is now being raised by her cousins flora and hestia, who are barely of legal age themselves. they treat her much better, though.

due to amycus and alecto being such prominent death eaters at hogwarts during the 1997-1998 school year, she’s often ostracized by those around her. the first person to speak to her was reena and everyone thought she was crazy for doing so.

for such a shy and cautious person, she isn’t above researching in her own time and experimenting, testing the boundaries of magic (as long as it won’t hurt anyone) and what she can do.

LASTLY L STANDS FOR LYRA MEADOWS

one day lyra is sure she’s going to explode from keeping her emotions in check around audrey. she loves audrey and desperately wants her to realize she’s more than what her grandmother wants her to be, but it’s a long and tough process.

since magic is banned in auradon, she has never seen her own wings. she knows she has them, but she’s forbidden from using them or even letting them loose.

she has some resentment towards her mother and aunts for how they focus more on audrey than their actual children. she knows that if they don’t they’ll get in trouble from audrey’s grandparents, but it doesn’t stop her from being frustrated.

speaking of audrey’s grandparents, she straight up does not trust them in the slightest.

she gets along with ben until after the events of the first movie. she never thought he and audrey were good together, but him jumping to mal and not speaking to audrey about it (even after the potion wore off) pisses her off beyond belief.

TIMELINE

22 AUGUST 1982 Astoria is born in Venice, Italy.

1 SEPTEMBER 1993 Astoria begins her education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

17 JULY 1996 Astoria first meets her godparents, Alecto and Amycus Carrow, when they come to her parents’ home in Bristol. Their meeting is very brief, but marks the beginning of a correspondence between Astoria and Alecto that lasts nearly a year.

30 JUNE 1997 Immediately following Albus Dumbledore’s death, Alecto and Amycus take Astoria back with them to their family home in Somerset. The following day, they begin a campaign of intensive training in the dark arts, particularly the Imperius and Cruciatus curse. During this time, Astoria is tortured and put under their control more than a dozen times, with Alecto and Amycus insisting that she must experience both curses before she can cast them effectively.

15 AUGUST 1997 Astoria is brought to Malfoy Manor to be presented to Lord Voldemort, who agrees to Alecto’s and Amycus’ request that she be given the Dark Mark., one week before her fifteenth birthday.

1 OCTOBER 1997 The Carrows begin using Astoria to conduct detentions, forcing her to torture other students.

19 FEBRUARY 1998 Astoria is ordered to torture Michael Corner after he frees a first year student prior to a detention. Astoria deliberately fails after quietly urging Michael to fake his pain, causing Amycus to take control of the detention; following this incident, Astoria’s disobedience becomes known to the DA.

2 MAY 1998 Immediately following the Battle of Hogwarts, Astoria turns herself in to the Aurors, who arrest her.

16 MAY 1998 The trial of Astoria Greengrass begins. At several points, the trial is put on hold while the Wizengamot, Aurors, and Astoria’s legal defense work to gather new information.

NOTES ON CANON

ON THREADS & PLOTTING I will only write in these verses with plotting. These verses are only available by request and to established partners.

ON CHARACTERIZATION I do not consider The Cursed Child, the Fantastic Beasts series, or any of Rowling’s recent statements to be canon. For me, the series ends with the epilogue. I do accept the epilogue as canon, as well as some of Rowling’s earlier statements on the Greengrass family. When I began writing Astoria in 2012, I built her based on the information we had: her name and her sister’s name, her age relative to her sister’s, her marriage to Draco and the existence of their son, and the following statement:

Draco married the younger sister of a fellow Slytherin. Astoria Greengrass, who had gone through a similar (though less violent and frightening) conversion from pure-blood ideals to a more tolerant life view, was felt by Narcissa and Lucius to be something of a disappointment as a daughter-in-law. They had had high hopes of a girl whose family featured on the ‘Sacred Twenty-Eight’, but as Astoria refused to raise their grandson Scorpius in the belief that Muggles were scum, family gatherings were often fraught with tension. I built Astoria’s characterization on this information. I have not adapted anything from later statements, except that Astoria and Draco had a very solid relationship, and were very much in love. I will not write in a Cursed Child timeline, nor will I write in settings in which Astoria will die for the sake of her husband’s and son’s character development, or in which Astoria has a misogynistic blood curse for the sake of her husband’s and son’s character development.

ON ROWLING I do not care for her, I do not care for what she has to say, I have no interest in promoting her work. Racists and transphobes have no place here, nor do their disgusting little manifestos. Joanne, if you’re reading this: eat shit.

VERSES

HALF-BLOOD PRINCE The summer before the start of her first year, Astoria is introduced to her godparents: Amycus and Alecto Carrow. At fourteen, Astoria doesn’t see the way that they manipulate her into isolation: with each letter sent, certainly risking arrest simply to communicate with her, she feels more and more appreciated and loved, certain that they understand her in a way no one else ever has. ( Fourteen is a difficult age. The Carrows do not make it easier. ) As their correspondence continues, Astoria’s time outside her lessons is spent increasingly on the reading lists they provide, and the spells they suggest she learn. Astoria is removed from Hogwarts the very night Albus Dumbledore is killed, and she spends the summer that follows with the Carrows in hiding, as they teach her the skills she will need to accept the Dark Mark at the end of the summer, mere days before her fifteenth birthday. Astoria becomes the youngest Death Eater ever Marked, and is placed in direct competition with Alecto’s rival, Bellatrix Lestrange, and her protege, Draco Malfoy.

DEATHLY HALLOWS Newly Marked, Astoria returns to Hogwarts with the Carrows. Having been extensively trained in the Imperius and Cruciatus Curses, she is established quickly as their enforcer, used to carry out punishment in detentions with other students. Exploiting her apparent delicacy, Astoria begins resisting in her own quiet way. As she allows the Carrows to underestimate her, deliberately failing at times to mislead them, she occasionally lets slip details regarding the Carrows’ plans and patrol schedules when she knows members of Dumbledore’s Army are listening. Throughout this, she develops a close friendship with Draco Malfoy, learning to rely on the only other person who understands what it is to have one’s childhood ripped from them by war. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Astoria frees the Carrows from imprisonment before turning herself in to Aurors. She is tried that summer, and found guilty of war crimes — and, due to her age and the clear psychological torture she endured, she is sentenced to time served, and monitored during a probationary period of several years to ensure that she is truly reformed.

SIXTH & SEVENTH YEARS Learning to bridge the gap between surviving and living is a difficult process, but Astoria doesn’t have much of a choice. The terms of her release dictate that she must return to Hogwarts and complete her education, and that she submit to unscheduled visits by Aurors, visits which include interviews and searches of her belongings. Her tenure as the Carrows’ golden girl is not easily forgotten, and her participation in the torture of other students, as well as her trial, and Astoria finds herself isolated, with all of her siblings graduated and Draco serving a sentence in Azkaban. The isolation proves more difficult than she had initially anticipated, and this, combined with a growing fear of magic (especially her own) forces her to grapple with some unpleasant realities — among them that she will not have the grades necessary to pursue a career in Healing like she’d once hoped, even if she thought a former Death Eater would be welcomed as a Healer. Astoria’s friendship with Draco, carried out over occasional visits and frequent letters, and her renewed closeness with her siblings is all that gets her through her final years at Hogwarts.

COLLECTOR After graduation, Astoria returns to Dublin, her hometown. On a whim, she buys a building for sale on Dawson Street, a shop with a flat above, and continuing with her mother’s family history, Astoria opens an occult shop with her brother. Called Belladonna Apothecary, the shop stocks books, divination tools, and herbs for use by Muggle practitioners; customers in the know are able to take a look in the back room for stock with real magical properties, including rarer artifacts, often obtained on commission (and with some difficulty). Dublin grants her the space she needs to begin to heal, and Draco’s return after completing his sentence gives her the partnership and connection she so badly wants. Straddling the line between magic and the mundane, and finding a way to live in both worlds, Astoria comes into her own once again, despite the pain caused to her by the Carrows. She and Draco marry soon after his release, and after several years together they have their first child (a son, Scorpius), followed by three more girls (Aurora, Selene, and Elanor) over the next decade.

AUROR No one could have seen it coming — a friendship between the child Death Eater and the Boy who Lived — but it becomes a lifeline. As Harry joins the Aurors in their unscheduled visits to Astoria, the two become close, their trauma and experiences providing them with a foundation for a deep and unshakeable bond. When Harry offers her the chance to become an Auror, she accepts it, working to overcome her fear of magic and hoping to make up for some of the wrong she’s done. Harry leaves a couple of years into their partnership, and Astoria follows suit after her marriage and the birth of her first three children, when she realizes that the Auror department cannot give her what she needs: to them, she’ll always be a photo op to exploit, and Astoria has never done well with turning over control of her life to someone else. With Draco’s support, Astoria takes a year off to be with the new twins, and begins looking for new opportunities of employment. Just as her maternity leave runs out, she takes a job with Draco, working at her grandfather’s law firm as an in-house investigator.

INVESTIGATOR The change is a good one. The work gives Astoria a chance to be with her family more often — seeing Draco at the office and coming home at a decent hour to their children prove to be exactly what she needed, and the opportunity to have more control over her own life is a blessing. They have one more daughter, settling comfortably into a life as parents first and foremost, facing no greater threat than the annoyance of Rita Skeeter’s new career as a very bad novelist. (Her first book is called The Cursed Child — Astoria is killed off before the book even begins, Scorpius is presented as Astoria’s child with Voldemort after a time-traveling escapade, and Draco flirts with Hermione Granger. The girls are a little disappointed to have been written out. Scorpius and Draco are disturbed. Astoria might punch Rita Skeeter in the face, if no one plans to stop her. I started to really love Harry Potter after learning about the Marauders era. I enjoyed it before, but I really fell in love with the "first" generation. And it's so bittersweet because it also breaks my heart. All my favorite characters have tragic endings. Ngl, fanfiction is such a cope and wonderland when it comes to it. It gives me the happy endings that doesn't exist in canon. It also introduced me to great, creative minds.

Is it strange to invest so much in fictional characters? I mean, it doesn't rule my life, but I feel genuine feelings when it comes to it.

When it comes to characters from the Marauders Era, we don't have much in canon because the story is very focused on Harry and his own story. Fanfic changed that. The writers were able to create so much material, so many stories. They developed this characters so much. Honestly, it's really amazing and thank God for that.

I love the world building that has really taken form in the fandom. I really like the idea that we can all make our own little worlds of it and some people can like some so much that they accept it into their own world building.

Hell, I've made my own characters on my personal tiktok! I was inspired by the plot of Ginny getting Tom Riddles Diary and made a whole story in my head about my OC becoming a high ranking death eater and manipulated by Tom Riddle/Voldemort.

I made a OC hogwarts ghost who died from the moving stairs cases! She fell off them -because how are they not lethal-. She fancied severus but he was all about Lily. And had fun little moments that by the time the main story happens, the malfoys are reminiscing because the little ghost girl their son mentions was a kid in their year. A tragic accident to a pleasant kid. 😭

I love coming up with characters that don't really impact the main frame and take over. The idea that the stories are written with the main characters but so many are overlooked and come and go and that makes wiggle room for new ones to exist.

E.g. on my AO3 Alecto Carrow had a full family and background and the main character is her estranged kid who wasn't really important to Harry's story but her own is so fucked uo that it'd just be one of the endless fucked up stories in war.

Actually speaking of those characters, It'd actually be an idea to make fics on them woukdnt it? Since I bothered to give them full plots 😂🙈

Harry/Draco (Mature, 130k)

Seven years out from the war, Harry learns the hard truth of old history: it’s never quite as far behind you as you thought.

It has little to recommend to it, but it's never been occupied by anyone who has since died horribly on his behalf; that, for Harry, is quality enough. He gets a job as an Auror, because it’s what he always said he would do. He goes down to the pub with Ron and Hermione and Ginny, brings Ginny back to his flat with him after, because it’s what he always thought he would do. He testifies at a few trials — Alecto and Amycus Carrow to convict, Draco and Narcissa Malfoy for acquittal — because it’s the sort of thing he thinks the person he wants to be would do, and he knows he has to try.

This is such a brilliant, lovely and fun ride! I’ve always had a soft spot for sentient Grimmauld Place as one of the main characters and this fic is one of a kind. Besides the hilarious dialogue and phenomenal characterization, we’re gifted with an adorable, charming, snarky, clever and obsessed Draco Malfoy. Ron and Mione were also particularly amazing in this, it felt like they came straight from the books. And Harry... the way the author explores his post-war trauma in the prologue hits right in the feels, it’s such a powerful and realistic portrayal. As if all that wasn’t enough, I have no words to praise the perfect slow burn and character development, genuine and light-hearted but also poignant and complex at times. Draco’s sharp wit is a delight and Harry’s realization that he’s fallen in love is one of my all-time favorite scenes in fic. I’m really soft for these two, and this fic makes it so, so easy. A perfect comfort story, among my top 5 favorite rereads!
