16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

HMMMM. i see a LOT of people trying to found family the mingling (abel/bunny as billys dads etc) and i just dont see whats so appealing. i can take a guess at it but like They dont even interact . i also dislike a lot of the gen fanon ships that feel like pairing the spares. what the hell is a dickens & norm ? I just dont think they mesh well & i dont think dickens is over his Dead Fucking Wife i think he is in love with his haunted theatre (& i dont think norm is super ready to move on for a serious relationship for that matter quite yet)

i’ve also bitched about the way people separate type&phonegingi— those are the same freaking animal I do not think it gives a shit about gender . i guess i get that itd feel icky for the monosexual chars but its acknowledged in game by both karen & oliver in chapter 3 & while briefly uncomfortable thats still ultimately the Same Cryptid & they know it. MORE THAN ANYTHING i think it would be more FUN to play in the space of post chapter 3 realizing their memories about it were wrong or maybe they were just confused or Whatever . i wish that were a more common expansion rather than Completely separating the 2 gender expressions yk.

also this is a sillier thing but i dont see the appeal in fleshheading them. which is NOT a dig or a judgment or anything whatsoever for anyone who enjoys it its fun design exercise & i think a lot of the fleshheads can be good & cute & Correct (thinks about griffins joe & ur becca. i think most of the stuff i like i Own It but i get really embarrassed about having branching interps / universes that veer away from canon. like what the fuck is fabron & norm it really is not much better than norm & dickens so who am i to talk yk. & its also incredibly mortifying because if you look a bit deeper into like What im writing theres Definitely a through line & basically ive gotta run away scared

Definitely a "Not my fandom, not my blorbos" post, but I kinda want a piece of Sonic media that delves into Knuckle's feelings of disconnection from the echidna people that doesn't like...introduce a bunch of random echidna characters. I want a story where Knuckle's grapples with the fact that the last time he had spent time with someone who shared his culture was years in the past, and he'll never have that again. I want him to struggle with what it means to him that he is Echidna, about what it means to him that he cannot ever fit in with the people outside angel island, I wonder what kinda loneliness he feels as he has to just watch the master emerald, knowing that when he dies, there will be no one left to carry on this tradition.

I don't want him to find a lost tribe of echidnas that are evil or something and makes him think "Well, at least I'll always have my found family of Sonic & Crew" NO! He sees them very occasionally when there's a giant threat to the world and/or angel island. He doesn't fuckin' know those guys! He's got a sacred duty to protect a big ass gem from being stolen, he doesn't go to Sonic's get-togethers unless Sonic specifically decides to hold them close by on the island, and even then he largely stands to side holding a red solo cup of fruit punch or something

I want a story about Knuckles, and him being unable to look himself in the mirror and say that he is "true" to his culture, and that even though no one can hold him to his mistakes, he still does. I wonder if he grows and matures and feels each year that he's not "echidna enough" more and more. How does that weigh on him.
