loki season two has me screaming crying throwing up trying not to get dragged back into the mcu trenches
#i am stronger than this. i am better than this!!#by the trenches i mean consuming fanfiction at an unhealthy rate. fourteen year old me was insane i think i was on ao3 more than i slept#that’s not exaggeration. i was getting four hours of sleep on school nights and frequently went to bed at 5am on weekends#it is ONE good story. one. literally not worth it. i don’t even care about ninety percent of the mcu characters#i will ignore the little voice in my head reminding of the sheer amount of fanfiction. this was my pre-tumblr days#so my fandom interaction was like. youtube and ao3. maybe instagram posts sometimes. it was so much fun like. zero drama zero discourse#i was honestly living my best life. got less interested when i joined tumblr and went full doctor who mode#and after endgame i watched i think wandavision and loki and that was it. just didnt care anymore lol#i know exactly why this is happening tho. currently the thing i am insane about is my own damn project. which i am in the process of writin#for obvious reasons no fandom there. bc it lives in my mind twenty four fucking seven#i do wonder if i’m kind of growing away from fandom anyway? the closest i’ve got since toh ended was homestuck tbh#i want to feel obsessed with something again!! everything i’m into now - tma tlt and the like - i love them#but it doesnt hit like it used to. i don’t know it’s hard to explain#like video essays that i would have loved a few years ago!! the hour long ones about representation and queer media#they just irritate me now! i got halfway through one last week and had to bail i just could not care less#how did 2020 social media have me convinced that x character being gay was super important politically economically socially etc#ofc the answer is that i was a baby lesbian getting even less social interaction than normal#like representation is important obviously but also. sometimes it was not that deep#i don’t know if i’m making sense tbh but you get my drift#morganposting

Hii I’m so sorry if your request are closed, I didn’t see anything saying if they are or aren’t, but I was wondering if you could write Luke Castellan x Daughter of Aphrodite reader. I don’t really have a prompt in mind other than that. If you don’t want to write if or if your request are closed I totally understand and feel free to ignore this.
COLUMBA
Tumblr media

pairing: luke castellan x daughter of aphrodite!reader
summary: you were doomed from the start you were claimed as aphrodite’s daughter. you were doomed from the beginning you joined the hunters of artemis, you were doomed when you saw luke castellan
warnings: pre-tlt, angst, betrayal, alluding to kiss, main character death, spoilers to the last olympian, spoilers to the titan’s curse
a/n: ik this is not accurate to being a hunter of Artemis but i thought it was an interesting concept, so apologies and bare with me on this! also bare with me on columba being a constellation in pre-tlt. it’s all to fit the story and plot. idk if I liked this one as much. lmk if you guys do!

In every hero story, the protagonist had fatal flaws or in other words weaknesses. Superman had kryptonite. Green Lantern, the color yellow (in your opinion it was a stupid weakness). Annabeth has admitted numerous times her fatal flaw was hubris. Percy couldn’t tell, but his was his excessive loyalty.
And you?
Yours was love and love led to you easily trusting something which ultimately led you to your naivety.
So, you joined the Hunters of Artemis; trying to make the futile attempt to escape your flaw.
“I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis. I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt.”
Your mother was not thrilled when one of her daughters swore off love and into maidenhood. Additionally, your charmspeak would not be proven useful as a Hunter.
One sacrifice for your life.
You thought it would be the perfect solution to escape your fatal flaw. Artemis required her hunters to reject all forms of romance. If you did happen to fall for a man, you would meet the same fate as Kallisto. If you fell for one of your fellow hunters, you could bargain.
It was perfect.
Until Mr. Greatest swordsman of his time weaseled his way to your heart (again.) The first time was when you arrived at Camp. It was your mother’s revenge: rekindling a past crush you got rid of ages ago.
Luke Castellan managed to flash you one charming smile when the Hunters of Artemis were resting at Camp Half-Blood (much to the displeasure of the hunters).
Your swore your heart beat at least twice as fast as usual when you saw him pass by and flash you a smile. He was as cute as you remembered yet mature and responsible. Quickly, you reminded yourself if you fell—Artemis would turn you into an animal.
“In and out, a week at least due to winter solstice.” That was what Artemis promised the hunters for their duration at Camp.
It only took you a week to fall in love all over again.
After another easy win of Capture the Flag for the Hunters of Artemis, you found yourself in the vicinity of Luke everywhere. He seemed curious. The girl he knew two years ago as the daughter of Aphrodite was now a Hunter of Artemis.
He thought you died due to monsters or refused to come back to camp. Look at you now, a beautiful silver glow and circlet complimenting the beauty you had. Your personality still the same. Aphrodite made his heart beat a little fast when he saw you again.
It was bad. It was really bad.
Guilt twisted in your stomach at the thought of breaking Artemis’ oath. You were not as distrusting and peeved at the thought of men like some of the other Hunters were. You were still relatively new to being a hunter, about a year or so.
You even began to talk to Luke in secrecy, so your fellow Hunters would not pull you away. You knew you fallen for the boy hard when he did some kind gesture. You were still a girl after all.
You should’ve stayed Aphrodite’s daughter. You shouldn’t have ran away from your weakness.
Artemis was supposed to come back the last day the Hunters were staying at Camp. Many girls, like Zoë, were glad to get out of Camp, out into the wild. You…not so much, but it would do you good. Yet, your mother’s plan for revenge was complete.
“Would you still love me if I was a worm?” You asked the night before Artemis came back to camp. Hands twisting in one another as you stared at the moon.
Luke chuckled. The more he talked to you the more he loves your way of talking. He’s heard this question before as a joke from Chris, but the serious look on your face dispels the humor.
“Yes, of course. I’d buy the best damn place for a worm and take care of you still.” Luke reassured and put a hand on yours. Your silver glow fading and fading as your heart beat for him.
“I’m serious.” You conveyed.
“I am too.”
“Luke…I—” You took a moment to compose yourself. “I don’t know what will happen when Lady Artemis comes back tomorrow. She’ll be hurt and disappointed I broke my oath and—and kept this from her. I’ll be turned into an animal when she sees me—she’ll know…”
Luke hears the guilt and panic in your voice. He sees it in your expression. “Hey…hey.” Luke soothed and shushed your worry. “You told me you could bargain if you fell in love with one of your hunters. Maybe…you can do it for this?”
“I can’t…” You denied and shook your head.
“You are the daughter of Aphrodite—surely Artemis will understand.” Luke reassured you and pulled you into a hug.
“I was the daughter of Aphrodite.” You spoke into his shoulder.
“Maybe your mom and Artemis are fighting about this right now?” Luke suggested to try and make you feel better, but he knows better than anyone that the gods and goddesses won’t fight for their kids.
You fell into silence. That silver glow that all Hunters had had completely faded. Your heart hurt with guilt and shame. “Listen.” Luke whispered soothingly into your ear. “Whatever animal you turn into, I will not love again. You will be my first and last love.”
“Luke…you can’t just swear off of love . It’s useless—” You protested. You failed and you doubt Luke would be able to do it.
“I swear on River Styx.” Luke said firmly. The crush that rekindled after so long felt like fire through his and your hearts.
Your first and last kiss was shared by Luke Castellan. It was bittersweet and everlasting.
You confessed to Artemis with downcast eyes the next day. You broke her oath and met the same fate as Kallisto. Aphrodite would be mad at the goddess, but that did nothing to stop her from turning you into an animal.
A dove.
An ironic thing to be turned into.
You were visited by Artemis once more after that crucial day. It was out of pity. The Goddess, herself, knew you would succumb to your emotions as the daughter of Aphrodite. She had warned you once and yet you insisted on joining the Hunt.
You did not deserve a place in the stars, not with your story.
And yet, Artemis pitied you. She forgave you. She ended your life as a dove and blessed you to live in the stars. Just like Kallisto and her son. And soon, just like Zoë Nightshade.
You wondered if Aphrodite wept for you when a new constellation was added to the night sky.
Columba. A faint constellation with the Latin name dove.
Luke stared at the faint constellation as he laid on the battlefield, having stabbed himself. He was to be judged in the Underworld and condemned for all the crimes he committed by being Kronos’ Lieutenant.
Columba was made up of a blue subgiant and a runaway star.
Your story was a reminder that no one should run away from their fatal flaw. That other half-blood should face their weakness head on.
Columba. Luke’s first and last love. The last thing he’ll see in his life.

BEST. EPISODE. YET.
Aaaaaaaa loved episode 3 so much!!!! Big points as to why below the break in chronological order
Gabe being the voice of the Oracle. I can’t remember if that’s how it happened in the book, but either way it caught me off guard and I was cackling.
The fact that we got to see the second half of the prophecy after Percy asked Grover to come with. Really muddies the waters for newcomers as to who will betray Percy. I want to watch this with someone who has never interacted with the Riordanverse before so badly now.
Annabeth agonizing over the snacks. Really reinforcing how young and alienated she is. This episode finally made me truly love Leah’s portrayal.
Annabeth picking up on Alecto so quickly, and immediately analyzing and taking control of the situation. Having Alecto so casually chat with Annabeth works really well too, and sets up how Hades isn’t really the bad guy here.
The fact that Annabeth figures out who Aunty Em is immediately. They were all really dumb in the book, and while Riordan did justify it to an extent, it’s definitely a lot better for Annabeth to figure it out so quickly.
Medusa. My gods, her performance was outstanding! Relatable, yet still a monster in the end! Simultaneously doing the whole “you can’t judge people so easily” thing that Sally set up, while still being evil enough that we don’t feel bad when Percy beheads her. She’s the same Medusa from the books, but better. And she set up Annabeth to be resentful towards the gods! But if there was one character who was even better than Medusa this episode, it was…
Grover. Aryan was amazing this episode!!! The perfect mix of the adult in the room, but also the nervous, perpetually awkward kid! Hesitantly finishing his snack after Annabeth tells him to be ready to run, completely flubbing his plan with the winged shoes, being the fed up mediator between Annabeth and Percy… even the silly little song came off more cute than cringeworthy with Aryan’s sincerity! But more than any of that…
Grover finding his Uncle Ferdinand. I got so excited when he set that up in advance while talking about the satyr path, but… man. If there was one thing that bothered me in the TLT book, it was how quickly Grover got over realizing that Medusa had petrified his uncle. I am so glad they gave that the weight it deserved. Not only that Grover lost a beloved family member (and since he was turned to stone, there’s that extra awful implication that he didn’t even get to reincarnate into a plant!), but how badly it forebode Grover’s own journey. This satyr, clearly older and more experienced than young Grover, couldn’t even get past New Jersey? How is Grover supposed to succeed??? Of course he snaps at Percy and Annabeth after that! He’s has to be their guardian, while emotionally being basically the same age, and he’s filled with self-doubt and mourning, and even through that, he’s able to focus on the moment, on his charges. That hit. So hard. Aryan, you are officially my favorite actor on PJOTV (for now at least)
Defeating Medusa, Alecto, and shipping Em’s head off to Olympus was all perfectly done as well. I’m so glad defeating Medusa was a team effort, and all three main actors did Percy’s defiant scene perfectly. No notes.
And, of course, our first scene with a god and Olympus. I love that Hermes looks so mortal. I loved the effect on the reveal of the 600th floor. I was cackling at Hermes just waiting and humming along as the elevator went up, even though he definitely didn’t need to. And I can’t wait to see more of Olympus/the Olympians next episode. No wonder the chapter pace is slowing down significantly.

Hi I think ur art is so amazing!!! I only read tlt recently and as soon as I saw ur art it was pretty much all I could think about lol I'm obsessed with how u do ur compositions and bgs, and people (and everything about ur art)
Also,,,,,I was wondering where/who u get inspo from when u make ur peices?
No pressure to answer this ask if ur not feeling it!!! I hope ur having a rlly good day and resting before/during uni <3333
hi!! i hope you had a fun time reading them!! and thank you for the kind words 🫶🫶
honestly the answer is really simple! my inspiration just comes straight out of the books.. it does powerful things to me and my head.. (i don't know how after many years i am still not bored or out of inspiration)
and i just try really hard to capture what i imagine (although it has never come out exactly right, save for literally a few drawings) if i were just drawing random people that i am not emotionally invested in, you would 100% notice a lack.
good media is the ultimate inspiration! trying to replicate the way something made me feel, what it made me see, is super fun to me and highly rewarding !
so i guess i do get my inspo from tazmuir (the who) and my mind palace (the where) 😭 !

I have tlt brainrot and i'm about to make it everyone's problem :)
pardon any bad grammar, english is my first language.
So we're all aware of Gideon's immaculate conception right??? And the plot by Augustine, Mercy, and Wake to get jod's ~genetic material~ was very clearly planned for 500 years, and we also know that Mercy and Augustine were not proud of what they did. The phrase that's been stuck in my head and the issue of my brainrot is The Cum Heist.
Anyways, my point is; I think it's hilarious (and honestly wouldn't totally put this past tazmuir to even think about this) to think that they used a cum rag?
We know that they don't fully explain how they got the cum in the heist, only saying that jod would've been suspicious if they went a second round and that he's very careful with bleeding, and i guess with his squirt too?
I think it would be very funny and pretty on brand for Gideon. Gideon spent her whole life being told she was worthless, abused, and more and wished that she could join the cohort and become someone special to prove that she's not worthless. She tries to find her mother's skeleton in the fields and wishes that she knew her mother. She doesn't even get to meet her mother because they're both dead and possessing someone's body(Harrow and Cytherea) and Gideon hears how her own mother called her a bomb and was fully planning on killing her as soon as she was born. And with Gideon feeling like a nobody, I think it would be so incredibly hilarious to think that she came from a cum rag and it makes sense in my mind???. like,,, you sploooge into a rag and throw it away when it gets too hard. and Gideon was simply thrown away. She ~came~ from nothing(?) in a way. And when you bring the permeability of souls into this, I wonder what Cristabel was thinking when Cum Heist was simply thought of??? Because Mercy fluctuates a lot in HTN by loving and worshiping John and downright hating him the entire book.
In general, Cum Heist is such an interesting way to come up with how lesbian jesus was created and it just feels so weirdly on brand for Gideon's character? I also can't think of any book that is so serious and serious at the same time. And tbh, tazmir's mind scares the living shit out of me. how can she create all of this and have so much foreshadowing that you have to fucking be a master in literature and also have a cum heist be canon in your book? it's truly the duality of man.
I need someone to write a crack fic about this please

REALLY FAST ANALYSIS OF THE NEW TRAILER and MY THOUGHTS ON IT
Baby percy is adorable, o shots of sally’s face
MET scene, original trailer scene
Special thing is a good word choice to hide behind since neurodivergent people are ‘special’ and it’s likely what Percy thinks Chiron is referring to.
My analysis earlier on the Variety was stuck between Montauk or Ares but how I’m sure it’s Ares
The head shot looks really good for Medusa since it’s not just 1 or 3 snakes but like 50 or so
The Underworld is going to be hell since it looks like it’s going to be super foggy
Clarisse bullying sceneeeee!! The actress somehow pulls off a resting bitch face and aggressive. I love how we also see the kids milling in the background!
The minotaur is definitely more bulllike than the books but it makes it scarier somehow???
Posidon shot is straight out of the last episode, the bolt is also from the last episode when Percy’s going up to Olympus
In love with the Big House windows they give it an old but diy feeling
The joy on Clarisse’s face when she lights Maimer stoooppp
I KNOW NEW JERSEY WHEN I SEE IT
The creepy bald lady i’m pretty sure is the Neried forming it was just on a different frame than the one they plucked for the trailer
LEAH IS SO PRETTY, she looks all serious too
Aryan looks so happy in so many scenes when he looks sad we know something bad just happened ugggghhh.
THE WINDOW WIPE FOR ANNABETH’s HAT. there’s just a small zing! and she’s gone
Luke’s actor is hella fine, I’m going to love hating the character so hard because he seems like someone who could pull off sympathetic looking but hella evil
Also everyone hurls themselves on the floor when Percy shoots I love it. He misses, the Apollo kids look so freaked out along which the Hermes kids. Luke was being so inspirational and Percy just FAILS.
Also disabled camper spotted either Demeter or Ares Cabin guessing by the jewellery on her arms but maybe Aphrodite???
Eveyone yells at Percy not SHOOT AGAIN ITS SO FUNNY ISTG
AHHH Waterland!!! Annabeth just looks tired but also like she’s having fun being with Percy
Percy on Olympus, Annabeth says “you still don’t know where you fit into all this?” I wonder if it could be before Capture the Flag or after the claiming that Annabeth instigated
Amtrak! I thought Annabeth was stabbed but never mind looking fierce though
Yup cloudy as shit, very monochrome, the guards looked cool though.
The lotus hotel is so florescent I can’t.
HERMES IS THERE??? HE WASNT THERE ORIGINALLY WHY IS HE HERE? Also I forgot Lin was Hermes I thought he was a cameo.
Percy jumping over shit I love him
Fight with Minotaur, Minotaur is scary, I think the show is trying to show that Sally really was a good candidate for Oracle by giving her a prophetic sensibility around her
Fun clip splice at the end the Chimera is literally terrifying what the hell. like it looks silly but from the angle it’s introduced it sends chills down my spine.
I think they’re keeping a lot of Annabeth & Grover’s story out of it to make them the emotional backbone of the story in the next 2 seasons and so on so forth. It makes sense since TLT was about Percy, TSM relied on Grover and Annabeth, TTC relied on Thalia, BotL relied on Annnabeth and Nico, TLO relied on Percy again. Rick can add more hints and Chekhov’s Guns now but he also can’t pull them all at once now because he wants this show renewed for another season.
My advice is to keep cool when we don’t get a ton of Grover & Annabeth’s story and riot if Season 2 doesn’t deliver but right now the show is trying to get newer and younger fans (as seen with it being followed right up by What If… in an attempt to get more people to jump into Disney+ and then scroll through once they finish watching whatever episode just ended to the new stuff) but I think it looks good there’s a lot of deliberate representation and diversity in the show and as spoilery as the trailer scenes we haven’t seen the actual meeting with Hades, Zeus and the other Olympians, no Dionysus lines or anything from New Jersey or the Lotus Hotel in truth.

hi! i’ve been seeing you blog about the baru series for a while and i was wondering if you could like quickly explain what it’s about/pitch it to someone who loves tlt like you do?
so the baru cormorant series (known also as the masquerade series) is the as yet unfinished story of baru cormorant, an accountant turned political spy/agent as she navigates an empire set on conquering the world. it's a very raw and very dark and very visceral book about a horrible person doing horrible things for the people she loves and her home. like seriously check the trigger warnings on this because i feel it's way darker in a much more overt way than the locked tomb is, with some of the most important ones being extreme, systemic and internalized homophobia, racism, eugenics, and racially motivated biological warfare later on.
baru herself is very scrunkly. just absolute scrunkle. she's sorta a cross between ianthe (in that she's horrible and pretty much everyone hates her) and harrow (in that she's very smart, works very hard, and most things go very poorly for her and traumatize her) but is also so uniquely herself that i can't really describe her character very well.
this book is less "queer drama" like tlt is sometimes advertised, very much a close look at how the mechanisms of an empire can absolutely destroy a person from the inside out.
i know you said quick, but i'm a long winded person lol. i'd say that if you can stomach events of the first book, give it a shot because it's been a life changing read for me personally. but it's a lot darker, i personally love the locked tomb for how fucked up it can be most times and baru, in my opinion, really twists the dial up for fucked upedness.

Okay maybe the venn diagram between tlt fans and pokemon fans has an intersection point, even if it's small. But I'm sure it exists.
Now the venn diagram between tlt fans who like (or at least find interesting) Jod and company, and the pokemon fans who like pokemon x and y, that's probably two diferent circles.
But just in case there's someone like that other than me I bring to their attention a realization I had the other day when I learnt that in english Proffessor Sycamore has a name. He is called Augustine of all names and I went WHAT wait,,, wAIT
(This probs is going to be a long nonsensical ramble so I'll put it under the cut, there'll be a summary at the end) (Also spoilers for both tlt and pokemon x and y I guess)
So I started conecting dots like haha pokemon x y au where Augustine is,,, well Augustine (Sycamore). Who would John be then who could be Augustine (Sycamore) best friend/ weird whatever they have going on and is also a bad guy or something. WHO I WONDER
Lysandre!!!!!!!! Like I'm looking at this guy's quotes and like bitch!!!!!
"I want to be the kind of person who gives... But in this world, some foolish humans exist who would show their strength by taking what isn't theirs." "They're filth!"
"I tried to save people--and the world--with the profit from this lab. But my efforts had no effect... The world was just too vast...and too full of fools that I couldn't save through my hard work alone..."
HELLO???????
Like obviously they're not the same same, Lysandre is way less complicated bc of the genre of the media and stuff but like. Basically his story is that he wanted to help people with his pokemon but they were ungrateful so he decided to wipe everyone out but the people who were nice. So yeah.
Also this quote Professor Sycamore says about Lysandre
"But what I really wanted was for him to put his ego aside and lead everything to greater heights. I never had this discussion with him, though. So I'm partially responsible for this."
OH BOI YEAH OKAY HM YES I'M FINE AHA
I was like wow okay this kinda makes a lot of sense (and im not even including the stuff of pokemon masters ex). But we are missing Mercy here and that can't be. And okay this may be a bit of a reach but I inmediatly thought of Diantha.
The first time you see her she is talking with Lysandre about mortality and shit. And thinking about it Cytherea fits too with all the themes of beauty and stuff (Diantha is an actress and Lysandre asks her if she wishes she chould stay beautiful forever or something like that) But like her role in the story and stuff, she is friends with both Professor Sycamore and Lysandre, she is also the region champion which is very cool and like they are the three main adults in the game intertwined with the main plot. (Althoug Diantha way less, and she isn't even in the pokemon masters ex storyline I mentioned before which is very sad)
However Diantha is way nicer than Mercy, she is very kind and polite with everyone which Mercy is... not fhdkadf. But she fits still I think.
Also this quote in which she mentions Augustine (Sycamore) that makes me soft bc she calls him dear.
"Then that means that you are also the one that dear Augustine said..."
Also the ship between Professor Sycamore and Lysandre is called perfectworldshipping (pokemon ship names are like that for some godforsaken reason and I hate it but in this case it fits my whatever this is)
TO SUM UP:
- Lysandre= John
- Augustine Sycamore= Augustine
- Diantha= Mercymorn
and I have many feelings about this
Thanks for coming to my ted talk now if you'll excuse me I'm going to look for my copy of pokemon y

Idk if this is the right place so feel free to ignore this, but people seem to come to you to vent about books so here i go lol
I LOVED GtN and am currently reading HtN, but I'm having an incredibly hard time getting through it. The 2nd person style keeps throwing me off and every time i pick it up i put it down not much later because i just can't stand to read it for too long. Idk if maybe it's because English isn't my native language - i had no problems with GtN. It's making me feel so bad because everyone seems to love it and is so excited for Nona, (especially my friend who keeps telling me to finish HtN already) but i just can't get myself to enjoy reading it :(
It's totally ok! A lot of people can't get into the second person narration in that book, you are not alone in that, and some of them learn to love it by the time they are done with the book. I gotta confess I absolutely loved it from the start, despite English not being my nativr language. The entire book is supposed to make you feel off-balance, queastioning if your understanding of the book is valid, and the second person does WONDERS for that. It also makes a whole lot of plot sense once you reach the last quarter or so. I am inthe middle of reading Nona and that one is back to third person narration. Still, if you don't enjoy it, don't force yourself, everyone has different tastes and interests and maybe TLT just isn't one of yours!

percabeth as songs bc they own me
in no particular order along with era i associate it with and three lyrics that made me choose it.
waves by dean lewis : so i picture this in the post-btol/pre-tlo yearning™ era. this would definetly be more percy centric but theres still some angsty percabeth content.
A feeling I thought was set in stone; It slips through my fingers: percy's reckoning with the fact that one of the only steady thing in his demigod life is changing, and for the first time he doesnt know how to act around his best friend. (and annabeth reckoning with the only steady thing in her life in general changing) its! about! the! yearning!
Down to the place we used to lay when we were kids: best friends percabeth stargazing. thats it.
I watched my wild youth; Disappear in front of my eyes; Moments of magic and wonder; It seems so hard to find; Is it ever coming back again? Take me back to the feeling when; Everything was left to find: ok whew. i think this is when percy really starts to realize how powerful he is and it frightens him. its no longer just oooh i can breathe underwater and oh cool i can will myself dry. he claimed the prophecy at the end of ttc, but the weight of it is heavier now. he misses when being a demigod was bright and shiny and new. he misses being a kid. and he misses being a kid with annabeth. he misses her calling him seaweed brain and ruffling his hair and explaining this world of gods and demigods and monsters to him.
bedroom ceiling by sody: also post-btol/pre-tlo era BUT annabeths perspective.
How am I supposed to know you're not the one? : ok so this may just be me but i have this hc that annabeth is terrified that loosing a love worse than death wasn't luke turning into kronos, but her and percy never going back to how they were. its worse than death because hes right there and can't look her in the eye. i think the not knowing whether it was him or luke kills her far after the quest is over.
I wonder if you're moving on; If you are, what's your secret? 'Cause I can't work out where to start: annabeth was definetley hit hardest by lukes betrayal/giving himself over to kronos, and i think one of the things that unsettles her so much about percy and rachel isnt just plain jealousy. she cant comprehend how percy can think about anything else but saving luke stopping kronos. but she wants to. she wants so desperately to hate luke and to stop caring about him like percy does so they can go back to what they were. but she cant.
Is your bedroom ceiling bored like mine? Of you staring at it all the time; 'Cause it's seen so many nights where I cry and I yell at the sky for not telling you how I feel : i mean. self explanatory.
i'll keep you safe by sleeping at last. i picture this as percy's silent vow to keep annabeth alive during tlo. he never expressly makes the promise but the sheer number of 'don't touch her'- especially after the incident on the bridge- says it all. (now you could most certainly place this in tartarus and it would fit just as well)
Hold out your hand, can you feel the weight of it? The whole world at your fingertips: THIS IS THE ACHILLES SPOT TERRACE SCENE YOU CANNOT CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE. (side note that scene makes me go absolutely FERAL) also i just think that hands>>. on a more serious not the “can you feel the weight of the world at your fingertips” how percy holds the weight of the world on his shoulders and in sharing his weak spot he is sharing the burden.
You'll be an architect, so pull up your sleeves; and build a new silhouette in the skylines up ahead: c’mon man. yk what this means.
Our mistakes, they were bound to be made. But i promise you i'll keep you safe: when it comes down to it the angst, the fights, the jealousy, the confusing feelings dont matter. and as soon as they start fighting (and as soon as annabeth gets hurt and the prospect of losing her gets real, all that matters is seeing his best friend alive.
fine line by harry styles: this song encompasses percy and annabeths growth over the pjo series. im probably gonna do a percabeth edit once all five seasons come out bc of how perfectly it fits. so era is pjo in general but pre-hoo
You’ve got my devotion, but man I can hate you sometimes: this is tlt - som annabeth to percy. need i say more?
we’ll be the fine line: fine line is a great phrase for there entire relationship. until tlo they're always toeing against a line between something. the lines between reluctant allies to actual friends. pretty good friends to best friends. best friends to something more.
we’ll be alright: this is repeated in the song like a mantra growing louder and desperate. i like to think this is both a wish and a promise. even if they're life never slows down they’ll have each other and they'll make it alright.
if youre still here thanks for listening to me rant and attempt analysis. im a mess about them lmao. i have a ton more so if yall like it ill do a part two :)

me writing connabeth headcanons?  more likely than you’d think
so we already established that they had puppy crushes on each other, and connor’s never really went away even though annabeth’s did (imma say the end of the summer after tlt/ into the school year around where she started sending pictures of her trips to percy)
connor’s puppy crush was a full blown crush by the time the som summer came to a close, and it always kind of hurt to see her with percy constantly and have him be sidelined, and when she kissed percy’s cheek after the chariot race?  his heart shattered
he didn’t blame her though, how could he?  it’s not like she knew he liked her.
and really, if percy made her smile like that, who was he to try and take that away?
around the time it became painfully obvious to everyone except percy and annabeth they they liked each other (after ttc ish) there was this daughter of apollo who came to camp and connor and her instantly hit it off.  he really liked her and she was a great friend and he started pouring all of his energy into this relationship so his crush on annabeth faded a little and now it was focused on this girl
except connor still does like annabeth, he’s just tricking himself into thinking he doesn’t
he decides during that summer that he’s not going to pursue annabeth because anyone with eyes can see that she is practically in love with percy and he’s in love with her too
he actually ends up dating that other girl for a few months (until botl summer) but his heart isn’t fully in it.
he’s very much in a state of “if we were both single and you asked…” with annabeth
so along comes botl summer
percy’s got rachel now, and connor is very suspicious
its so fucking obvious that he loves annabeth at this point, so why is he hanging around with rachel?  connor is like🤔
and annabeth is super upset and won’t really talk to anyone.  he can tell she’s started to close herself off from percy too
she finds her way back to connor, and for the majority of that summer the two are inseparable
percy of course notices this when he is at camp and is like “the fuck??”
percy’s not very happy to say the least.  he doesn’t really understand why annabeth is shutting him out because obviously rachel is one of his closer friends and he’s been hanging out with her just because he needed a break from all the chaos at camp (and seeing annabeth so much reminds him that he’s going to have this prophecy hanging over his head in about a year and it hurts to think that something could happen to him and he’d never get to see her again, so in his head if he starts detaching himself now it won’t hurt as bad)
but percy doesn’t like rachel.  she’s a great friend and that’s all he sees her as because he’s so infatuated with annabeth
annabeth obviously thinks that him and rachel are a thing and it pains her to see him with someone who isn’t her, but if he’s going to spend his last year with someone who makes him happy (someone who isn’t her), she guesses she’ll be able to live with it.  all she really wants is for him to be happy.
there’s a lot of tension between the four of them (annabeth&rachel, percy&connor, annabeth&percy) and specifically with p, a, and c at camp.
everyone is basically watching the three of them all summer like: 👀🔍🔍
there’s this one day where annabeth walks up to connor (he’s playing volleyball or something) and grabs his arm and just drags him with her
she ends up pulling her with him to the strawberry fields and she turns to face him (she hasn’t said a word to him since she started pulling him with her, let alone looked at him) and her eyes are glassed over and tears are threatening to spill.  her cheeks are red and she looks so broken and all connor can think about is how he was going to seriously fuck up whoever did that to her.
she doesn’t say anything but she starts crying and throws herself at him and buries her head in his shoulder
he moves to sit down and he sits there and holds her and rubs her back and plays with the ends of her hair while she cries and his heart hurts for her even though he’s not sure what’s wrong yet.
eventually she lifts her head and she’s sniffling and definitely got snot on his shirt and her eyes are puffy and he asks her a silent question with his eyes and she takes a deep breath and sighs heavily
eventually when she’s ready to talk she tells him that she iris messaged percy to find out if he was coming back to camp that night and to tell him that if he was he was going to be on her capture the flag team, but apparently he was with rachel and didn’t realized that she had called.
all annabeth heard was “…needed to get away from Annabeth. I didn’t–” and that was enough for her.  she immediately ended the call and went to go find connor because she didn’t want to be alone
what annabeth didn’t hear is that percy was actually telling rachel that it was just super hard to be around her knowing that he might not make it through next year
annabeth and connor spend a few hours just sitting in the field talking about whatever, and they’re too caught up in their feelings of nostalgia because it’s been ages since they’ve sat down and had a lengthy conversation and they skip dinner.
the sun is setting and it’s almost time for capture the flag (which percy was in fact coming back to camp for) and the two of them were still in the field, except now they’re both lying on the ground looking up at the stars and connor is pointing out some of the constellations that him and annabeth learned together and annabeth is tucked into his side, her head on that spot right between his chest and his arm, and the arm her head is half on is also slightly wrapped around her shoulder
the two of them have every intention to stay out there and skip capture the flag, but then they hear a familiar voice calling out annabeth’s name as he walks through the field
“Annabeth?  Capture the flag is getting ready to start. I was told to come…find you”
the first thing percy feels is jealousy because he can’t count how many times him and annabeth have gone out to the field to look at the stars together the same ones she’s looking at with someone who’s not him
by the time either of them register what’s happening percy is standing 20 yards away and staring at the two of them, annabeth still tucked into connor’s side.
annabeth sits up as quick as she can but part of her was telling her to just stay where she was.  the other part (the one that’s in love with him) was saying that she should hurry up and try to make up a story about what was happening
she’s mad at percy right now anyway, so why should she explain anything to him?  as far as she knows, he didn’t want to be around her.  so why does she feel so guilty?
maybe it’s because the look on his face is enough to break her heart
she stands up and brushes the grass from her legs and connor stands up beside her.  she swears she catches percy glaring at him out of the corner of her eye, but when she looks back at him it’s gone and a smile (that looks awfully fake) has replaced whatever she thinks she saw.
“thank you for telling us” she says
connor doesn’t really have an expression on his face when he says “yeah, thanks. let’s go get ready, Chasey” and he grabs her hand and pulls her back towards the dining pavilion.
percy is just standing in the field trying to process what just happened because why the fuck is annabeth with connor? are they together? did she not tell percy?
percy’s not an idiot, he knows connor likes annabeth (so does everyone except annabeth)
hell, connor liked annabeth before percy ever came to camp, and he knows they were best friends before he took that spot, so why is he so jealous? he hangs out with rachel all the time even though annabeth is his best friend, why is the two of them hanging out any different?
maybe it’s because annabeth never cuddled up to percy like that while they watched the stars
both the hermes cabin and athena cabin are on the same team for capture the flag, and obviously percy is on annabeth’s team.
percy definitely didn’t accidentally soak connor while he was jumping over the creek.
he’s not sure why he did it, all he knows is that he saw connor and instantly got angry.  he’s not even really sure if he did it or if the water was simply responding to his anger.
flash forward a few weeks and percy is hanging out with rachel even more so in turn annabeth is spending even more time with connor
the two of them are closer than they’ve been in years and annabeth is super confused about her feelings because she likes percy, but percy isn’t the one who’s there for her right now. percy is chosing rachel over her (keeping in mind annabeth still doesn’t know the real reason percy is avoiding her), but connor?  connor is there and he’s giving her his undivided attention and it feels good to have someone acknowledging her.
meanwhile percy is battling with his own feelings because after the labyrinth he was beginning to think that annabeth liked him (since she seemed super jealous of rachel and also she kissed him and also because beckendorf was like 😏😏)
but maybe she doesn’t? maybe she likes connor and doesn’t think of him as anything more than her best friend (although it’s beginning to feel more like ex best friend)
beckendorf finally talks some sense into him and says that he knows of like 4 people who like annabeth and that silena told him annabeth likes percy ( “and she kissed you?  dude, she likes you.  I don’t know what else you need, Perce”), and that if percy doesn’t do something about it soon he might not get his chance with annabeth.
percy decides that he’s going to talk to annabeth that night at one of travis’ secret only-the-campers-that-matter parties.
when he shows up he immediatly registers that there’s alcohol (obviously, there always is, he expected it) but what he didn’t expect was annabeth to be drinking.
annabeth never drank at them before, why is she now?
percy wonders if she was doing it for him, come to think of it. he remembers telling her about gabe and how she didn’t press but he also remembers the look on her face when he told her about how sometimes it made him uncomfortable, especially at these parties, and just maybe she was trying to make him feel more comfortable
he also didn’t expect to see connor’s arm thrown over her shoulder and her leaning into him (way too similar to how charles and silena were sitting for him to like)
when annabeth tilts her head up and kisses connor on the jaw, something in percy’s chest snaps.
he doesn’t think anyone noticed that he was there yet, so he turns to leave because he can’t do this right now.  he was here to tell her how he felt and she’s acting awfully couple-y with fucking connor and suddenly that night he found them in the strawberry field comes rushing back and he wants to scream because charles told him to tell her and he didn’t and now annabeth is with connor and he fucking blew it and he’s never going to get the chance to tell her now because she’s with fucking connor and he also feels horrible because he’s supposed to be her best friend and she would have told him if she liked someone, right?  how bad did he fuck up if annabeth isn’t talking to him?
“hey, percy! come join us!”
“fuck. hey guys!”
annabeth and connor untangled themselves and annabeth moved over and there was definitely enough room for him to sit beside her (more importantly in between them) and he always sat with her but he doesn’t think he’ll be able to handle it if she starts looking through him to see connor or if she stops paying attention to him because connor started talking
he sits as far away from the two of them as possible and he tries super hard to not look at them but occasionally is eyes find their way over to her
she looks kind of nervous and he’s not really sure why
connor is just sitting there and he has a sort of confused look
percy is 99% sure he either looks pissed as hell or extremely sad
connor doesn’t really know what to make of it because you could cut the air with a knife right now. he really wants to move closer to annabeth and put his arm back around her because she was warm and her hair smelled good and it was annabeth and he definitely wants her to kiss him again, but this time not on his jaw
but at the same time he can’t help but look at annabeth and feel guilty for wanting that.  he knows her well enough to know how she’s feeling, and right now she’s giving him scared vibes and she looks really uncomfortable
he also feels bad because he knows she likes percy
he knows
she’s told him
but here he is, and there she is, acting like she never told him that on their walk down at the beach while percy was missing.
annabeth is definitely confused because she knows she likes percy
she kissed him, obviously she likes him
but she thinks he likes rachel and she wants him to be happy
so she started getting closer to connor and now all of a sudden percy seems angry? jealous? he hasn’t said a word to her since he got to the party and he won’t look her in the eye.
they do make eye contact once and his eyes look so broken and her heart feels heavy
she doesn’t know how to cope with her feelings though, and connors there so she pushes whatever feelings she has for percy onto connor (basically what connor did with that daughter of apollo i mentioned)
there’s this one night a few weeks later where they’re both drunk from one of those parties and percy is off with rachel and annabeth just needs a distraction because all she wants is her percy back
she misses him so much and it hurts because she knows that this is their last summer together and next year the prophecy is going to be on top of them and they’re going to be fighting for their lives and there’s a good chance one or both of them aren’t going to make it back alive.
anyway they’ve both been drinking and connor is right there and annabeth is confused and wants percy somebody to love her and so her and connor sneak off to the woods and they end up making out and maybe his hands slip under her shirt and maybe her hands go up to tug on his hair while he presses her back against the tree and maybe their kisses are a little too rough and maybe she wakes up the next morning with a bruise along her collar bone and overwhelming guilt weighing her down
and connor can’t keep doing this
he loves annabeth, he really really does.
but he heard charlie whispering to silena the same night they sneaked off about how percy was telling him that he doesn’t know what to do about annabeth.  about how rachel keeps telling him that he just needs to tell her because she’s sick of hearing him mope around about how annabeth barely talks to him anymore and how she’s always with connor and he thinks the two of them are dating and connor feels horrible
connor likes percy. it’s never been about him not liking percy.  the two of them got along great, as long as annabeth wasn’t around.
there’s just something about the fact that she came crying to him about percy that sat with him wrong
but he knows that annabeth likes him, and obviously knows that percy likes her
and he can’t do that to her
he can’t let her run herself into the ground because she’s losing percy to rachel when she’s really not.
so he tells her that he can’t keep doing stuff like that with her
he doesn’t tell her why specifically, just that he knows she loves likes percy and that he doesn’t think it’s fair to either of them to keep doing it when she doesn’t like him like that.
it hurts and he doesn’t know whether to feel good about his choice or not
connor never really stops loving annabeth, but it shifts from being split platonically and romantically to being completely platonic by the time percy and annabeth actually get their shit together and start dating
he’s constantly pushing her to tell him the summer leading up the the battle of manhattan because percy’s birthday is coming up and they both know that he might not live through it and is she’s going to do something about it she has to do it now because the clock is ticking
once connor and annabeth stop doing the borderline couple-y stuff, the tension eases between percy and annabeth and connor feels good about making that choice for the first time
and everyone is watching percy and annabeth that summer and they all can see how they’re moving into a more than best friends state but neither of them want to bring it up
and when percy says “don’t I get a kiss for luck, it’s kind of a tradition, right?” connor makes sure catch her eye and wink before going off with travis.
and connor is the one that suggests annabeth makes percy a cupcake for his birthday, and he totally gives her shit until she agrees to tell percy how she feels because the war is over and they’re both still alive and she’s put it off this long and is she puts it off any longer connor is going to take matters into his own hands
“oh my gods, you wouldn’t”
“really? you don’t think i would?”
“connor.”
“annabeth.”
“…fine i’ll tell him…”
and connor feels really good when percy and annabeth finally kiss and him and travis are there to throw them in the lake
he’s really happy that his best friend is happy, and he thinks that it was always supposed to be this way, and maybe there was a reason she would fall for the son of her mom’s rival.
connor thinks it makes more sense this way, and he’s happy with how everything worked out for the three of them.
let me just tag the nation here 😌💕

Ranking the books I read in April
aka just ranting about the books I read in april pls ignore me
1. The Space Between Worlds - Micaiah Johnson
I cannot believe this book wasn’t nominated for a Hugo! I like the Hugo list (of the books I’ve read) but cmon. This book is like if you combined the social commentary in The City We Became and the queerness of Harrow the Ninth. Seriously this book had everything I wanted: parallel universes, great character development, social commentary, woc sapphic slow burn, satisfying ending. Also I feel like the title is paying homage to W. E. Dubois which is cool. “Between me and the other world, there is ever an unasked question: How does it feel to be a problem?” Like there is just this very cool idea of talking about other worlds as in literally other universes but also different worlds due to social and racial hierarchies.
2. Plain Bad Heroines - Emily m. Danforth
Horror, Hollywood, boarding school, everyone is gay, the narrator talks directly to the reader and it is hilarious, copious footnotes, have I mentioned how many sapphics there are? It’s hard to keep track. Plus polyamory. I just really loved this book and I felt it all came together in a way that was worth it.
3. Steel Crow Saga - Paul Krueger
This godamn book. I loved this book so much. I was so ready to yell about it on tumblr and tell people to read it. But apparently the author is someone who has harassed a lot of women so...uh...yeah. Nevermind I guess.
I do want to say it is the most accurate depicition of a Sherlock Holmes superfan that I have ever seen in media.
4. The Tiger’s Daughter - K. Arsenault Rivera
What if we went on a long trip on horseback and we were both lesbian warriors...jk unless…
Yeah so I loved this book so much. A lot of it is about navigating familial responsibility, fighting literal and metaphorical demons, fighting the patriarchy, fighting your anger, fighting tigers, etc...and yet I kept thinking to myself “this is the most romantic book I have ever read” and honestly I am gonna stick by that. It also has the “you think me a monster so I will become one” trope which is great. It is set in an Asian-based fantasy world and I did read a goodreads review that said it was as accurate to the countries it draws inspiration from as Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse is to the Russian and Scandinavian cultures it takes from. So that’s not great.
5. Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo
Speaking of! A few months ago I tried to read Shadow and Bone in preparation for the tv show and I could not finish it. The writing was...bad. Anyway I really liked Six of Crows and even though, yeah it’s tropey (I’m looking at you, Helnik backstory), there’s a reason those tropes work. Plus you cannot go wrong with a heist. About halfway through I did realize that there are six mcs and three couples so its kinda just like a giant triple date, which really changed how I read the whole story.
I’m very glad I did read it before seeing the tv show because I was able to be appropriately excited for the Crows and catch the Wylan reference and everything, but I also got to see the Alina stuff without having to read about it.
6. Crooked  Kingdom - Leigh Bardugo
I think I somehow liked this even more than Six of Crows, but for narrative simplicity I’ll put it after. I really like it when you put people in an impossible situation and see how they figure it out. Especially if they get out in a clever and reasonably possible way that ties together many different plot threads and has a few good fake-outs. This did all of that, and also developed every character in a way I found satisfying (except [redacted] *cry emoji*).
Kaz pulls a Baru Cormorant with some money stuff and now I wonder if they would be friends.
I read this after watching the show which was good because I knew who Zoya and Genya were but bad because there is a point where Nina is like “here is how shadow and bone ends.” She’s just talking to Mattias and casually spoiling everything for me. So there goes my dreams of living spoiler free until the end of the show.
7. The Miseducation of Cameron Post - Emily m Danforth
My expectations for this book were....very different than it turned out, and I’m glad for it. After reading Plain Bad Heroines I shouldn’t have been surprised at how well written it is. I really appreciated how nuanced it is. It doesn’t spell out its ideas or themes and therefore lets you really sit with them. I would rank it higher but I don’t really enjoy reading about high school.
8. Foundryside - Robert Jackson Bennett
I love a good found family, especially if at the beginning of the book they are on opposing sides. Enemies to friends = best trope! Also it’s sapphic that’s always good. But the best part of this book was the worldbuilding which was so cool.
9. Malice - Heather Walter
Remember what I was saying about “you think me a monster so I will become one”? This book is the definition of that trope. Women becoming unhinged after being treated like shit, we love to see it! Especially if it’s gay. I do have to say, authors who write duologies where the first book ends on a cliffhanger, I see what you’re doing but yes, I will be preordering the next book.
10. Fugitive Telemetry - Martha Wells
I don’t have much to say because Murderbot is so consistently excellent.  uh why is it so cathartic when xenophobes disrespect Murderbot and it’s humans step in and shut that shit down. Gets me every single time.
11. Queen of Coins and Whispers - Helen Corcoran
This book was like half romance half politics and unfortunately I did not find the politics that interesting or well written. But the romance was A+. It reminded me of Priory of the Orange Tree a LOT. Though significantly less dragons and I’m taking many points off for that.
12. The First Sister - Linden A. Lewis
I wanted to like this book a little more than I did. There was just maybe too much body horror for me. Interesting characters and world though. There was  a location named Cytherea that they mentioned a lot and it was very distracting. I guess I still have tlt brainrot.
13. Shorefall - Robert Jackson Bennett
I think this book was well plotted out but it didn’t quite have my attention like Foundryside did. Also yet another book where a woman’s girlfriend ends up in her head. This time no one had to die so that’s nice. TM and SD take notes!
14. The Deathless Girls - Kiran Milwood Hargrave
Ok I LOVED the Mercies by KMH so I was a little disappointed in this Dracula retelling. It got interesting in the last 50 pages, but unfortunately that is not enough for me.
proud of myself for not reading a single straight book this April

Hey y’all I’ve been gone for a hot second so here’s a simple post for my birthday
I’m 17 now so uhhhhh I wanted to do my top 17 riordanverse characters but how about 17 things I love about the riordanverse(which could be characters lmao)
-The diversity in race, sexuality, gender identity. It’s amazing to see in a kids series
-The haikus. I MEAN REALLY RICK DID NOT HAVE TO GO OFF THAT HARD
-Jason’s arc and development in TBM. It’s what made me like him so much and it’s very powerful and resonated with me
-Nico di Angelo. I mean. It was inevitable I would mention him. He’s my absolute favorite and he deserves so much after what he’s been through
-Percy and Annabeth’s kinda enemies to friends to lovers. One of the best couple developments I’ve ever read
-The lessons. There are many wonderful life lessons that can be plucked from these books
-That scene in MoA when Percy gets Annabeth’s dagger and says “You dropped this.” MY FAVORITE SCENE IN ALL OF HoO
-Percy and Sally’s relationship. Sometimes in YA, it’s hard to find a good parent kid relationship and this one is top notch
-Estelle and Paul. I think we all adore them. How can you not?
-The prophecies. How does Rick do it, I will never know
—The age range of the 7. I love that Percy and Annabeth are the oldest and kinda mentors to the others. Also Hazel is the most powerful (don’t come at me) as the youngest, which is just yes
-Will Solace. Y’all. Amma said it. I AM HIM. HE IS ME. Oh how I wish I knew the medical knowledge he does at his age of 15
-Sally. She’s perfect. That is all
-TLT MUSICAL
-The dyslexic/ADD/ADHD representation. It makes kids feel heard who don’t get that opportunity in other places
-Percy Jackson. Of course I had to include him. He’s who started it all. Even if you don’t care for him, his character arc and the things he learns through his adventures are what make a truly compelling main character
-The safe space they provide for so many people. This is a series that has spanned across many ages from those who read it when it first came out and are in their 20s to those younger kids who can find a piece of themselves in the story
Was that 17? I don’t really care lmao. I could do this about almost any fandom I’m in. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Y’all are seriously the best and I’m so happy that I can make you guys happy!

Emotional anguish list round 4: Percy Jackson. And Annabeth Chase, because we need some girls in here
thanks!!!
Percy
1. okay we’re gonna start off with him not losing the Achilles’ Curse, which I am having 2 thoughts on: either he knows he has it BUT DOESN’T KNOW WHERE HIS SPOT IS, or he does know the spot but being in camp jupiter results in two things. 1) everyone hates his, as they see it, weird annoying disrespectful ass EVEN MORE because he’s fucking invulnerable, and 2) Percy spends every moment there itching with anticipation and hypervigilance that somehow someone will get in a lucky shot and KILL HIM.
2. I honestly think coming home to find out that Sally is either pregnant or has had a fucking baby would send him spiraling. like. imagine you literally go to hell, you’ve been fighting non-stop for months, the world is narrowly saved from ending and your camp family almost dies. all you want is to go home and have things be normal for a while. but you get there and there’s a fucking baby. Percy “only child for 14 years” Jackson would suddenly……..not get all the attention he used to. and yeah I think he’d be able to be more mature about it than he might have at 14, but he’s traumatized and hurting and he wants his mom but she’s busy breastfeeding! he has to wait until she’s done! I don’t think he’d resent Estelle at all, just that he didn’t get to be there when they found out/all thru the Big Important Moments (instead he was in hell.) and now that he’s not getting what he needs and probably doesn’t feel like he can ask for it
3. Zeus was such a dick in TLT that I wouldn’t put it past him at all to strike down the airplane while Percy was in it, kill everyone on board, and grab his bolt of lightning and fuck off somewhere. I’m including this one bc I’m imagining Percy’s last moments, holding Annabeth’s and Grover’s hands, absolutely terrified and furious and so, so, so worried about his mom :)
4. IMAGINE IF ANNABETH DIED IN TLO. IMAGINE!!!!!!! she’s the tether between him and his mortality. I honestly think he would go crazy and probably kill Luke/Kronos himself. I hate chaos fics with my whole entire being so I feel like he’d probably end up being rude/disrespectful to the gods after the battle ends, and either get turned into a god (whether it happens against his will or not idk) or he’d go home and just. fall into such a depression. he did all that shit for the gods, for the world, he’s fundamentally changed himself FOREVER and yet, he lost one of his best friends, a girl he loved. a girl he loves. how unfair and cruel can life be
5. Percy, miraculously 31 years old, being dragged into ANOTHER war by the gods:
Tumblr media
Annabeth
1. she and her dad and step mom having some kind of miscommunication that ends with her running back to camp (or Percy, whatever) thinking that she’ll never talk to them ever again. I’m picturing her being about 15 maybe? I can’t remember all the issues she and her family had in canon but dskjfhdjshafjk if it’s bad enough, what if they don’t talk for years? what if Frederick and Step Mom never find out that she survived the end of the world? what if, when Frederick goes looking for Magnus, he goes looking for her too? he shows up at the Jackson’s door, and whether she’s there or not, hearing that her dad wants her…….that would be A Lot and she’d have to go back and reevaluate the argument that lead to her running away again and just have lots of emotions about it
2. I saw a fic recently where somehow (I didn’t read it :/) Annabeth didn’t end up falling into Tartarus, just Percy did. and I think this would ABSOLUTELY DESTROY HER. that’s her best friend, her boyfriend, her soulmate and he’s down there ALONE, for HER, because of her. who knows how he’s doing, and if he’ll make it out, and also leading a quest without him is super hard and it’s so difficult to sleep knowing he’s literally in hell, and she’s just falling apart with worry and fear
3. tbh after falling into hell, I think any kind of falling would be traumatic. so what if she falls off the lava wall? or like, Jason picks her up and flies? the first has happened a hundred times before & the second has def happened at least once, she shouldn’t be panicking so hard, but she is and she can’t stop it. the feeling of the air all around her just throws her right back into that moment, that gut wrenching agony and anticipation, waiting for the fall, waiting to land and either die or open her eyes in the worst place she will ever possibly be
4. Percy really dies when he blows up the volcano. first of all, the grief of him and what they could’ve had would be terrible and I imagine she would probably feel awful about going to Sally with her emotions, bc Sally lost her son and that has to be way worse. plus it’ll just remind her he’s dead. but even more so, suddenly the only person (that they know of) left to take on the curse is Nico...who won’t be 16 for several years, which they DON’T HAVE TIME FOR. Kronos is definitely rising sooner than that. Annabeth is a natural leader and tho it would probably take a little while for her to get back on her feet, she would take over what she had to/could, and. there are two options here: either Kronos rises and dies in basically the same way (Annabeth gets the Achilles’ Curse but her lifeline, Percy, is dead?????) and neither Annabeth or Nico is the prophecy kid, Jason is. but they don’t know that??? so Annabeth is haunted by this prophecy, wondering what the hell it means, and waiting anxiously until Nico turns 16 and NOTHING HAPPENS??? or, Kronos rises and Annabeth, furious w the gods who are barely helping or almost never saying anything, and also alone and vulnerable to Luke, switches sides :)
5. tbh... moving to New Rome. I don’t think she’d be able to live there without some issues, namely that it would feel wrong????? she’s a Greek? it’s not home? the architecture is off (she could do better, but if she says that, everyone will hate her EVEN MORE.) and there’s either no shrine to her mom, or it’s small and shitty like Neptune’s? plus she’d miss all of her friends and Chiron desperately? she’d be away from Sally and Paul, who are her and Percy’s main support system, and closer to her dad, who she’s not very trustful of? also how is she gonna be there without thinking about Leo accidentally firing on the place, which reminds her of the rest of the quest, which reminds her of falling into Tartarus. ?????????????? going there would do nothing but lead her to a small mental breakdown imo
send me a character and I’ll put them in 5 situations that’ll cause them maximum emotional anguish

i binge read
episode 9 - the house of hades
i don’t care what anybody says, hazel levesque was the main character in this book.
of course, all of the seven are the main characters, and all of them underwent a life changing journey in this book - Percy and Annabeth in Tartarus of course, Frank in Venice with all of the katoblepones and again in the House of Hades summoning the dead, Jason with his whole Cupid-Nico escapade, Leo meeting Calypso, and Piper fighting Khione. But Hazel’s journey was the most central to the plot. She actively chose the crossroads that would lead to the events of the whole book - Leo falling, Percy and Annabeth unconscious in front of the Doors, Frank wounded. Those were all events that she chose and events that came to pass. She, personally, led to pretty much everything that happened. She’s the most powerful of the seven imo, with all of the Mist manipulation and gem summoning - she easily possesses the most raw power.
Anyways. I’d have to talk about all of the Seven individually for this post to work. We’ve already covered Hazel so let’s start with Jason, because nobody ever does. I really wish this guy had more character, even just in his own chapters. I understand that he’s hella blunt and how helpful that is, and most of the time I appreciate it. But his main conflict in this book was belonging, in the Greek versus the Roman camps (which is something that Nico was also struggling with in a different way). I wish he’d explored that, the blending of Greek and Roman, within himself more. I think it’s a very important plot point that I as a biracial kid can relate to specifically - the feeling of coming from two different places, loving two different cultures, wondering to which you truly belong.
Next, Piper. We really didn’t see as much as I’d like to see of her in this book. She kind of just popped up whenever anybody needed a charmspeaking side character. Her big climax moment was fighting Khione, which was a pretty cool scene I must admit. I admired not only her quick thinking but her ability to accept that she was unable to think like Annabeth and her willingness to embrace her own way of thinking. That’s something that I don’t see as much as I’d like. Also I loved the little detail of her swordfighting lessons with Hazel. The girl power and camaraderie was strong and I appreciated that. It almost seems to me like she’s learning that she is like other girls--the narrative in her chapters was very different from in TLT.
Leo. If nobody ever shut me up, I could talk for days about Leo Valdez. Admittedly he pissed me off a bit sometimes - sometimes his jokes took things too far, especially when he picked on Frank. But this fifteen year old child built a HELICOPTER in MIDAIR. He just makes it so hard not to love him. The high point for him this book was, obviously, when he crashlanded on Calypso’s island. It was one of my favorite parts of the book, too, partially because it was one of those scenes I could just see in my head, every second. It made a pretty beautiful picture too. You could see both of them slowly falling in love - Jason says later that he was only in exile for five days, but Leo, on Ogygia, clearly experienced at least two weeks - one of them building a looking glass, the other building a boat with Calypso. It was interesting to see, through the other people’s eyes, how it changed him. And how he refused to talk about it. I love how his instinct, whenever he sees Gaea, is to just chuck the nearest object at her. In TLT, he sees her in face in the porta-potty sludge, and he chucks a toilet seat at her. In Calypso’s island, when she reappears, he just throws a pair of pliers at her. It’s just so hilarious to imagine--see Gaea, throw object. I have never felt prouder of him than I did when he chucked that screwdriver from across the room to press the button to let Percy and Annabeth out of that elevator. It was just a cinematic move.
Frank!! If Hazel wasn’t the main character, it definitely would have been him. His journey in this book was also quite cinematic. It was amazing to see how he’d changed, growing into his identity as a child of Mars. There were so many times I loved him so much--destroying every katobleps in venice, leading the team through the House of Hades. All while the two different sides of his dad were yapping away in his head. Takes some serious steel. I just feel like everyone always underestimates Frank Zhang. This dude, despite being the biggest pacifist of the Seven (besides possibly Piper), is just so freaking metal. I’m so incredibly proud of him and of his journey.
I intentionally left Percy and Annabeth for last because it’s gonna be hard to explain. Because I’d have to group them together mostly. I loved the way they were always working for each other, always looking out for each other. They saved each other’s lives dozens of times over. I know I’ve said it a thousand times but that’s my favorite thing about Percabeth. They’re best friends above all. From the very beginning, with the river, to Arachne, to the aria curses and so much more - they always, always had each other’s backs. I loved Bob the titan immediately. I can’t say I remember him, like, at all--despite the binge reading I did, I literally cannot remember Iapetus. Which book was he in? I’m assuming The Last Olympian. I knew Small Bob would be important in the end, and I knew the giant would come back - though it was quite sad, the ending. Especially Percy at the end telling Zoe that bob says hello. A lot of the scenes in Tartarus were difficult to imagine, though some were easier - for example, the defeat of Misery. I cheered when Percy took her down, I immediately hated her. Other Tartarus escapades were sad and painful, but I’m glad they got out.
Fourteen days until Gaea awakens and two demigods’ blood will water her soil. Tower of Nero is released today. I was hoping to finish all three series, short of the final book, by Friday. Can our heroes battle Gaea, fix things with the Romans, and save the world? Can I read the Blood of Olympus and the entirety of the Trials of Apollo within three and a half days? Probably not. Stay tuned for more.
