thinking about how Jace is Cordelia's descendant always throws my head into a loop like. what do you mean he's related to Mina through both Tessa and Jem 😭 his great great great grandma and first cousin four times removed married each other and had a kid and also adopted his 7th cousin...

I think the reason why TID’s found family aspect feels so intense to me is because most of the main characters really had NOTHING else in the world. Tessa was orphaned with a missing brother, Jem was orphaned, for most of the series Will might well have been an orphan, Jessamine was an orphan, Charlotte if I recall correctly was also an orphan. The London Institute was all they had. Hits hard when you think about it.

no mourners, no funerals
spoilers!!
poesflowercrown asked: Why didn't we see kit's [Christopher Lightwood's] funeral
Okay, so quite a lot of the questions I’ve gotten are some form of “Why wasn’t there a funeral for Christopher?”
And the answer is that Christopher surely did have a funeral — but that it strikes me as fairly obvious why he didn’t have one that took place during the time when London was under attack by Belial. Also, had they had a funeral in Idris during this time (where his body was, and where they have funerals), we have no POV characters who are there to see it.
After that, we jump ahead six months, and obviously his funeral isn’t going to be after such a long period of time has elapsed — instead we see grief at the stage of what it is often like after half-a-year: the most active part of the mourning is over, and the Shadowhunters are moving into fitting Christopher and the grief for him into lives that go on and go forward. James dreams of dead Christopher almost every night, and yet he is still moving on with his life: they are Shadowhunters, this is how they live, knowing life can always be interrupted by destruction, battle or war, and knowing (in a way mundanes don’t) that any day carries with it the possibility of immediate death and loss.
Now, could I have shattered the structure and timing of the book to shove in a funeral between the coda and the wrap-up of the epilogue? I think it would have been a lot of more jarring and weird than people realize, but I also think that it wouldn’t have offered anything. I get a lot of questions that seem to think a funeral for Christopher would have offered “closure” somehow — either to the characters or readers — and the fact that I don’t think it would have done anything like that, or offered anything useful or meaningful, is partly why I didn’t include it.
Shadowhunter funerals aren’t like mundane (human!) funerals: they’re not for closure, but rather for generally honoring the dead of war, because the Shadowhunters live in a constant state of war. What would have happened at a funeral for Christopher is that he would have been burned on a pyre along with Elias and those who died freeing London; people would have come up and given polite condolences to Gabriel and Cecily, the Consul would have given a general speech, and that’s about it. We see this with Livvy’s funeral. — how it is entirely unspecific to Livvy. We see how much closure her funeral offers her family (none, basically.) I think what people are imagining as “Christopher’s funeral” (everyone cries, makes speeches, has feelings) is not what a Shadowhunter funeral is.
There is one more thing I would say, which is that death, as depicted in art and fiction, is not required to offer closure. Sometimes the point is to sit with that lack of closure, and feel the absence of that person, that character, because living with the death of someone close to you is often living without total closure: sometimes for a long time, sometimes forever. That is okay. It is not required of books that emotions be neatly put away at the end of them, like guest towels. Sometimes they are just there to be felt afterward.
[I have also seen people say that Christopher’s friends didn’t mourn for him — which is so bizarre I haven’t decided whether to address it or just leave it as a Thing We Totally Disagree About, like the many questions I get about how we “never see that Tessa loves Jem” or “Isabelle doesn’t care that Max died” etc. Sometimes you just can’t see eye to eye about things; I don’t really get how Thomas being so stricken by Christopher’s death that his physical appearance is literally altered forever, or Anna “turning to stone” with grief, or Matthew being unable to even say Christopher’s name without flinching in pain, is “not mourning”, but we all have our different ideas of how things should be depicted. I tend to believe in a less-is-more philosophy about showing intense emotion, but we are not all that way!]
Anyway, closure. The intense mourning for Christopher in the Sanctuary is short-lived not because the Shadowhunters have gotten bored mourning intensely, but because of Belial. Because they are at war, and then and forever their grief for Christopher must fit itself within the interstices of them needing to save the world. In looking at research into Shadowhunter mourning, I looked at the way people mourn when they are either civilians in war, or soldiers on the front lines, because all Shadowhunters are all least one of those things. A great deal of intense compartmentalizing is required, because the preservation of life going forward must be the priority. The Shadowhunters know this; they are raised knowing this. They know that not only may you be called upon to sacrifice your own life to be what you are, but that it is likely you will lose other people, and if you lose them in battle, you have also sacrificed the ability to stop the world and engage in just grieving. You sacrifice, sometimes, even the ability to bury your dead or to know where they died. As Lucie observes:
“And now they were back at the Institute courtyard, which was empty and quiet, as it always was. There was no scar here, no sign of the dreadful things that had happened there such a short time ago. Lucie envisioned a plaque: HERE IS WHERE IT ALL BROKE APART. Matthew and James’s vanishing, Christopher’s death—they seemed both very close, a trauma still ongoing, and yet far away.
On the other hand, she thought, this courtyard had been torn up by Leviathan a couple of weeks ago, and there was no sign of that, either. Perhaps to be a Shadowhunter simply meant drawing runes over one’s scars, over and over.”
They mourn, they grieve, they have to go on — to “draw runes over their scars” — because the other option is wallowing in grief and doing nothing to prevent Belial winning. Lucie is feeling these things as “far away” because they have to be shoved down in order for the Shadowhunters to continue doing what they need to do. They can’t lie on the ground and scream NOOOOOO for days; they honor Christopher by going on, by seeing his project through to the end and using it to save countless lives. Which is what Christopher would have wanted — not a cold and monotonous funeral in Idris.
So short answer: I didn’t think a funeral for Christopher would have provided anything worthwhile to the story, but rather would have made it worse. In the end, that’s usual the answer to the why of any decision. :)

I’ve finished reading Clockwork Angel!
• I’m reminded yet again of how much I love Will (and his growth as a character and how important he is throughout the entire Shadowhunter Chronicles).
• love Charlotte and Henry (obviously)
• I feel like this first book doesn’t show how great Jem is, but I know we see that in the next book (and in TMI).
• also eager to see Tessa’s growth and her confidence grow.
— I don’t think I’m going to read the next book in the series right now, just because I’ve read it before and feel like jumping around. I might try Throne of Glass (I’ve read the first 3 books years ago but could not tell you a single thing that happens in that entire series).

I feel like jessa adoption of kit is sometimes treated so badly in this fandom like people are so quick to dismiss it…also cassandra’s video when she called jem and kit poor just had me uncomfortable on the part that she was like only considering kit a herondale and not jessa’s son, she probably didn’t meant to, specially after how she wrote jessa family on sobh but it made me a bit :v
anyways i want to say that it is not crazy for jessa and kit to have found a family with each other so quickly, all three of them had been in search for one for so long. tessa obviously had spent years grieving, jem had been neglected any sort of actual living for years as well, and kit had been neglected by his father for so long EVEN if he was present EVEN if he loved him (which we still really don’t know the answer to) kit was never shown that love and honestly johnny rook didn’t earn the right to have kit holding a candle for him 🤷🏽‍♀️
also people who don’t understand this dare i say are dangerously close to invalidating irl adoption yk

I agree with you about there being tells for which characters CC plans on killing off, and that's why I don't think any of the TMI gang are gonna die in TWP. I've seen a lot of people being scared for them, but I just genuinely can't imagine her giving anything but a happy ending to these characters who've been so beloved for so long. Thoughts?
So one of the things I genuinely love about TSC is that Cassie is Not Brave About Character Death. I personally hate when major characters in a work die, and Cassie... basically never does that. You know who's set up to die before it happens, and they're usually the low-hanging fruit where the story is concerned.
It's clear to me that Cassie is (rightly!) very attached to the TMI gang and Jessa. Same for the TDA group. I think that killing one of them would go against everything Cassie has done so far and be incredibly out of left field. I obviously wouldn't be averse to... certain JB-initialed TDA people... being ripped up by demons, but any way you slice it, it's not going to happen. Cassie doesn't kill her darlings.
The only way I think any existing faves would die is an epilogue where Tessa and Jem die after long and happy lives and are happily reunited with Will. I could absolutely get behind that. Herongraystairs win.

i wish cassie would really commit to making a boy a main character in a tsc main trilogy. like before tlh came out she was setting james up as the mc imo, and i was so sure she was setting kitty up as the main couple & kit as the protagonist. i think it would be really cool to see a boy leading the series.
(also i know that james, will, jace & jules are main charakters but they’re not the main character if you know what i mean, cordelia, tessa, clary & emma are. and obviously are magnus & alec main characters of tec & the magnus bane chronicles, and simon of tftsa & jem from gotsm but they’re not main series like tmi or tid)
and i know not much info about twp is out yet but the last newsletter made it seem like she’s doing it again..

Can you write a headacanons of Carstairs Fam? Where they have one more child beside Mina and Kit? 🤍
-Considering Mina as kidnapped when she was young, I imagine Jem would be even more vigilant when they have their third child. -Which is also why shortly after their third child as born, they adopted a puppy of a big breed so it could grow up into their guard dog. -Their guard dog acts like the dorky side-kick to Irene whenever Ty is coming over. It was very amusing to watch Irene teach their dog some basic hunting skills with an expression that seemed to say, 'Just how stupid are you?' -Kit remains protective older brother towards the two. Precisely because his father failed him, Kit's fearful of all things that could go wrong and just wants them to grow up happy. -Their third child is obviously yet another nod to the people they lost. They decided that it would be named Henry if it were a boy, and Charlotte if it were a girl because they really were like parents to Will, Tessa and Jem. -Both Kit and Jem have allowed Mina to do their hair and paint their nails, with Tessa just watching on incredibly amused. If there is one perk about the advancement of beauty products and hair accesoires in the modern era, its certainly this if you ask Tessa. She made plenty of pictures to ensure she remembers these moments forever. -Tessa became quite the photo-taker. Because her first family already died of old age, she knows the heartbreak what's going to await her once they died of old age, so she tries very hard to enjoy the moments whilst they last and prepare herself for once Jem and the kids are gone. -With Kit being a Herondale, he ended up being recruited for his school's soccer team even though he doesn't really cares for the sport. He honestly sees it as a way to have more time to socialize and learn how to be more like a British teenager. Somewhere, a certain Ashdown boy is incredibly jealous, but Kit remains unaware. -Kit always plays soccer with the Lightwood-Bane boys whenever they're coming over. -Mina as an older sister and middle child would generally be the one to explain what Kit, Tessa and Jem think whenever they try to tiptoe around their fears temming from their various traumas in a language the little one can understand. She really takes after Tessa's mature and wise nature and understands why they can sometimes act overprotective or seem to fear things like interacting with the Fair folk. -Because Mina was so young, she doesn't remember being kidnapped and has no reaction outside for the strange urge to start crying when someone brings it up. Kit is very grateful that she doesn't remember it. -Speaking of memories, something Kit would frankly like to forget are the lyrics to Baby Shark. He had to sing it so often to Mina and the baby, that he can sing the entire song even years later. He really hopes Jem was right that all children's songs blurr together through the sands of time. -Whilst Kit and their youngest isn't too musically inclined, Jem was happy to take notice that Mina enjoyed listening to the violin, and learnt her to play when she was old enough. -The Herongraystairs family have attended many a violin performance at the local music theater showcases where young talent would perform. One time, Jem could have sworn he saw the fleeting ghost of Will watching Mina's performance from the back of the theater. -Obviously that wasn't the only time where Will's spirit has been spying on the Herongraystairs family, as he watches over them all the time.

Jem Carstairs & Yin fen
TW: discussions of chronic illness, prescription drugs, and pain
So, you can laugh at me, but I have this box beside my bed. It’s... maybe the size of a tissue box? Slightly thinner, a smidge taller, at least compared to the tissue boxes I’m used to. Anyway, it holds this medication I have to take nightly (I have others to take during the day as well, but they’re stored elsewhere). Basically, the box holds several sachets full of granules - they’re tiny, mostly white looking, at least until they’re mixed with water because then I think they look slightly on the pinker side of white. Sitting here, turning to reach for my box on my bedside table full of sand-like stuff that I have to take in order to, basically, function day-to-day, I realised it reminded me of Jem Carstairs. Obviously, his drug is more harmful than any good, and he can’t live without it whereas I could - with a lot of struggle, but I could, and it’s non-addictive.
This is part of something that always touched my heart about Jem though. TSC is not... I’m not going to say it’s the greatest source of representation for everything, because it’s really not, but I will say that learning about him when I was 16 and reading The Infernal Devices was really comforting. When you’ve been dealing with chronic illness since about the age of 10, you carry that weight with you. You feel it some days more than others. You wonder what it’s like to be normal. To be able to go about your day not needing to worry about the time you take your meds, the pain keeping you from regular activities, the way certain meds and the nature of your condition triggers other long-term problems that you also need to keep on top of with yet more meds.
It was cruel, but I used to get a lot of jokes about how, if I were a racehorse, I’d be put down (racehorsing was kind of a Thing where I used to live and there’d be all sorts of discourse going on about it, just as an aside). And we know of several times in TID where Jem was dying and some thought that Tessa and Will should not waste their time being bound to him (also, obviously, cruel).
I get where Jem was coming from, funnily enough, when he says he’d rather burn brightly for those he loves for a shorter amount of time than live a half-life. When I’m in a bad health period, I do become reduced to a half-life if I don’t have medication. I have spent the entirety of my teenage years - allegedly important and life impactful years - struggling to live a full life like many others my age. I used to be the protective older sister, the shield for all my siblings. I was fiery, stubborn, argumentative, and kind of aggressively loyal even to those who did not always deserve it. But after the accident that allowed for my condition to evolve, I was weak. Not just in body but also mind, eventually. I was tired all the time. Couldn’t sleep either because of the pain or the pain meds that kept me up. Pain was like a second thing, a second being, inhabiting my body and pulsing and taking up space and reducing my ability to exist in a moment beyond it. On my better days, it’s more like a heavy weight on my shoulders that tires me out but isn’t necessarily keeping me armchair-bound. Nevertheless, I stopped being able to do everything by myself for a time, to take care of myself and others around me. Suddenly, they needed to take care of me. Help me change shirts, do my hair, carry things, and even write sometimes.
I couldn’t participate in sports. I turned to music. Clarinet was not easy because of the nature of my problem being focused primarily (at the time) in my shoulder and arm, but it gave me something. It was a little lonely, because no one else played the music I did (music classes were always full of pop and I was learning things like the national anthem, Waltzing Matilda, and some classics). Sure, I got transposed music that occasionally allowed me to play things like Imagine Dragons (did you ever think Believer could be played on clarinet? I committed to it). Hallelujah was a dear favourite, and a rare song I felt I could play with deep emotion. I learned an instrument and nearly played in an orchestra (on bass clarinet, admittedly, because they were a person short and I was able to adjust to the instrument more easily on short notice), until The Pandemic. These days? I can only really play the national anthem and simpler pieces. It’s been so long since I’ve properly and consistently practiced. Anyway, we got slightly off-topic.
Music felt like the one thing I could do most days (sometimes the pain got bad enough that I couldn’t practice as often in a week as I wanted). That, and reading and watching movies. I didn’t have the brain space while in pain to do well in school for a while. I couldn’t concentrate in classes. I still can never get out of my head a time when a guy I genuinely had a major crush on (for years) asked me to dance and I had to decline because I was in too much pain to trust myself to do it well or comfortably. So, a lot of time was spent just listening to people idly and not taking much in, as well as reading from screens on the days that books hurt too much to hold (you’d be surprised how much that affects my arm and shoulder), and watching far too many movies and shows. I developed a lot of different interests than the people around me. When I sketched, I drew attention (sorry, pun was unintended but I’ll leave it there), but outside of that? It was a struggle to keep up with them. I felt like I was missing out all the time. On life.
Jem Carstairs felt like someone had looked at my quiet, pain-tensed body and peered through to the tired, raging spirit still underneath that couldn’t get out for the longest time, and said, “You are not alone with this. Here is a young man who plays the violin and suffers day in and day out.” Some people would look at him and treat him as if he were already dead. In my lifetime, I’ve been treated like I’m not even there, just faded into the furniture, gone. Not a lot of people want to be friends with the depressed chronically ill kid who struggles with a pain from an ailment they can’t even see. That’s why I always loved the Tessas and Wills of my life, the others that didn’t treat me any less because I could not live the way they did. And I love Jem for finally being someone in fiction I can relate to.
Sometimes, it’s not about which character has the closest personality and similarities to me. Sometimes it’s just one character who has just one key thing that connects deeply with an experience of ours that isn’t common which gives us comfort. For me, that’s Jem Carstairs and his yin fen box. My meds often make me feel ill but let me function better than I would otherwise. I have some in a box on my bedside table. And I have people who understand my limits, but do not act as if I cannot be human. It’s really nice to see that part of me reflected.

random warlock gang headcanons for funsies, GO !
The way Ragnor feels about Magnus’s fashion sense is the way Magnus feels about Ragnor’s excessive skincare routine.
Catarina tends to receive fancy lotions for her birthday because her total lack of a skin care routine, especially after all the handwashing at the hospital, is painful for everyone to witness.
Catarina always works as a nurse, never a doctor, because it’s much easier for her magic use to go unnoticed. When patients miraculously recover, the credit tends to go to the doctors, which would quickly call way more attention to her than she ever wants.
While Tessa is married to Will and running the Institute, Ragnor treats her like a Shadowhunter. They don’t become friends until after Will dies and she has to learn how to warlock.
Hypatia Vex is an Eldest Curse, and she and Magnus both know that about each other.
Ragnor doesn’t get along with Hypatia because he obviously took Magnus’s side after they broke up, but Hypatia quickly sees through his Shade disguise between TLBotW and TDA, so she ends up being one of the few people around that he can talk to during his years hiding out in Shadow Markets.
There’s a High Warlock of Jacksonville named Florida Man and not even Catarina has the patience to deal with him. They used to make Malcolm do it, but that’s no longer an option, so now the loser of rock paper scissors has to go to Florida whenever the Florida Man headlines start getting too wild and clean up the mess. Tessa and Jem are the best at it, but no one enjoys it.

rereading clockwork angel and i’m thinking about the parallels between will/jessamine and tessa/jem.
will and jessamine: both come from parents who left the shadowhunter life, spending their childhoods in the mundane world. their behaviour is often rude, volatile, they shout and argue, both masking their pain by lashing out and rejecting the love charlotte & henry offer them (for wildly different reasons, but the outward behaviour is not dissimilar). they have moments of raw vulnerability before rapidly closing off (jessamine and her dollhouse; will when tessa sees too much of his real self). will and jessamine’s lives both make them hopeless — will because he cannot let anyone get close, and jessamine who says she’d rather die than live this life she never wanted. will chooses the shadowhunter life, because he cannot go home; jessamine wants nothing to do with it, but she cannot get out. they’re both desperate for their lives to change (though we see more of this from will in cp1).
and then you have jem and tessa: both travelled from different continents after basically losing everything, to arrive in london. both tortured repeatedly, forced to recalibrate to the world after. they feel out of place initially, yearning for the lives they had before everything changed, before they had to travel so far from home (which brings the most pain, as jem says). people see them as different for what they are, for things they cannot change — the “half one thing and half another, like me” conversation. they take on more nurturing roles, so in the rare moments when they do express anger, it hits extra hard. they both want something essential: jem to experience the kind of love his parents had, and tessa to know who she is, to not be alone in the world.
they all carry their histories in different ways, i guess is the point here, and it’s interesting how certain characters’ backgrounds/stories parallel others. this isn’t to compare either pair, rather i’m just observing the similarities — it’s always struck me how will and jessamine seem pretty similar at the start of clockwork angel, (which shows in the way they argue and shout at each other a lot) though obviously their needs/reasons/values are incredibly different. and then there’s jem and tessa, who are more shy and yet, contradictorily, more openly feeling, who i think because of their nature often have their pain overlooked (especially the fact that they were both tortured!!) and tessa representing a reason to hope for both will and jem but also jessamine, who later projects this onto nate, bec she’s desperate for a way out, while jem and will have a reason to not be resigned to their fates.
anyway stan tid for breaking my heart again!

will & jem: “I vowed not to cry anymore if we survived the Great War. You drew up some good faith treaties. I drew curtains closed, drank my poison all alone. You said I have to trust more freely, but diesel is desire. You were playing with fire. And maybe it’s the past that’s talking.”
will & tessa: “My knuckles were bruised like violets, sucker punching walls, cursed you as I sleep talked. Spineless in my tomb of silence. Tore your banners down, took the battle underground. And maybe it was egos swinging. Maybe it was her. Flashes of the battle come back to me in a blur.”
tessa & jem: “It was war, it wasn’t fair. And we will never go back to that bloodshed, crimson clover. Uh-uh, the worst was over. My hand was the one you reached for, all throughout the Great War. Always remember, uh-uh we’re burned for better. I vowed I would always be yours.”

One of the more interesting effects of reading Chain of Thorns was the crisis about mortality it created (what fun, I know).
When you read book series that don’t consist of fifteen main story books spanning over approximately a century and a half, you don’t really notice it, but obviously TSC has a really long timeframe, and that throws off my internal assumption that the characters are living, just as I am (this post is going to be ironic in about 80 years (unless we get some serious scientific advances))
When you read, for example, Pride and Prejudice, you don’t really think of the characters as dead. As far as I’m concerned, Elizabeth and Mr Darcy and living a happy life, not yet among the shades of Pemberley. Even Romeo and Juliet don’t inspire a crisis about one’s mortality, because they die in their own time, as anyone could.
No, it’s something about knowing that canonically, all the TLH characters are dead that gets me. The same is true of the TID series, although to a lesser extent, as both Tessa and Jem live to the present day, so I didn’t consider it much. By the time that Clary, Jace, Emma, Julian, and co. are all mucking around fighting demons, James, Cordelia, Lucie, Thomas, Alistair, Matthew, and all the others are long dead and almost forgotten (if CC had written TMI after TLH I’m sure they would have featured more, but that’s not how it is), and that makes me sad. All the characters that I love are properly dead, they don’t get to live forever in some nebulous timeframe parallels to my own. I live at roughly the same time as the TWP kids (when that series finally comes out), but I know that, in this world, there is no illusion that they will live forever. In another hundred years, I, as well as Kit, Ty, Dru, and even Tavvy, will be long dead (although, mind you, I don’t actually know much about most of the younger Blackthorn siblings, I’ve only read the main series books).
Anyway that was some fun light reading for you. Sleep well tonight.

theories for chain of thorns
i had these posted on my gr from like december, im just posting them here
- lucie will now be an antagonist lets be honest we all know it. necromancers are NOT good people and thats the path lucie chose for herself by wanting to save jesse
- someone major will die idk who it is yet, but my instincts tell me its matthew or alistair. the second wouldnt make sense tho – if alistair dies, how would the carstairs line continue down to emma??? hopefully itll be tatiana that bitch
- jamie x daisy its inevitable guys, have you seen the snippets? im rooting for them theyre perfect
- thomas and alistair are NOT gonna end up together this was a gut feeling when i wrote it but as of jan 5 i have a legible reason as to why they would not be happy and its the next theory
- IM SCARED THOMAS IS GONNA DIE the “found family tree” says that thomas died TWO YEARS before barbara. i understand cassie has repeatedly stated that its been manipulated (she hinted that it was changed by the silent brothers) and isnt reliable. but isnt that disturbing?? esp considering theres at least part of it thats reliable, and thats the fact that alistair will 100% go on to marry a woman despite being gay. if alistair doesnt have kids, and cordelias children are all herondales, then the carstairs family would die out and emma would not be related to jem (even tho its been stated that they are related by blood). “oH bUt SoNa iS pReGnAnT mAyBe ShEs GoNnA GiVe BiRtH tO a bOy” first of all, theres a chance the baby is born a girl second of all, the baby might die third of all, where is the son on the family tree? fourth of all, SONA IS, ACCORDING TO THE TREE, DEAD BEFORE THOMAS. PLEASE.
- grace x christopher i despise grace but she acts like a different person around kit… maybe he can fix her
- anna x ariadne she cant fuck up ALL the gay relationships, now can she?
- the merry thieves are gonna forgive alistair (specifically matthew) bro he literally made out with one of them TWICE. if matthew doesnt think “well shits gonna get awkward if i dont forgive the sorry bastard” istg~ 💀
- this is more of a hope than a theory MATTHEW FAIRCHILD SHALL ACHIEVE THE HAPPINESS HE DESERVES smth tells me he wont get a happy ending tho… i mean, if my above theory abt thomas is correct~
- SO DOES ALISTAIR I MEAN CMON GUYS #justiceforalistair he regrets the shit hes pulled and therefore your hate against him for it is invalid PLUS HE GOT BULLIED BY RACIST PIECES OF SHIT HE DID WHAT HE COULD TO MAKE IT STOP
- matthew will open up abt his secret its like a routine at this point, in every shadowhunters series. a character has a secret that nearly kills them outta despair, they open up to friends, theyre met with love and support. jace loving his “sister”. wills “curse”. emma and jules’ relationship. ty bringing back livvy. alec being gay. you get used to it lol
- either lucie or matthew would have their marks stripped lucie for attempting/committing necromancy, and matthew because sobh said he doesnt have a specified death date (also i think cassie just hates him)
- jesse will be evil bro wouldnt that be cruel… like imagine after lucie brings him back hes like “haha i manipulated you to bring me back i never loved you” and then sHe GETS HER RUNES STRIPPED FOR NECROMANCY and its worse bc the shadowhunters are already out to get the herondales bc they refuse to accept tessa as anything but a warlock no but in that case she would prolly go to live with wills parents OKAY BUT IMAGINE HOW HEARTBROKEN CHARLOTTE WOULD BE WHILE DOING IT WHILE JAMIE IS CRYING AND MATTHEW SCREAMING AT HER NOT TO AND WILL TELLS HIM TO STOP WHILE TEARS ARE GOING DOWN HIS FACE
- a “seven husbands of evelyn hugo” thing with anna x ariadne and thomas x alistair (credit to my good friend wiz/nisha for saying this) maybe cassie is going to have thomas marry ariadne and anna marry alistair so that they could have a good old switcheroo, so they can swap lovers?? obviously it cant be anna and thomas lmao theyre cousins but thomas and ARIADNE…
- matthew and cordelia ARE going to kiss at one point HOL’ UP I DONT SHIP EM, i think its gonna be a climon kinda thing where they kiss and dont like it as much as they thought they would, and end up deciding to stay friends i think thats the best way cassie could deal with matthews crush on her without breaking anyones heart, i hope to god it wont be like him confessing and her rejecting him plz oml

Kit's diary
I'm obviously not Cassandra Clare, so all the characters, fictional places and content that happened before this belongs to her.
Summary:
After the events in Secrets of Blackthorn Hall Kit is even more traumatised than before. Not only does his heart hurt from meeting Ty (and Livvy) again, but he's also concerned about his family's well-being, as he sees himself as a danger to them now. While sleeping in his sisters room helped a bit, Tessa and Jem can still see how much he's hurting. After consulting Emma, who obviously also had to deal with a lot of trauma, Tessa convinces Kit to use a diary. Well, if it can calm Emma it can calm everyone, I guess. Even though he's sceptical first, Kit warms up to the idea of letting out all your feelings, thoughts and memories on a piece of paper and starts to describe his life and his feelings to the special someone, whom he dedicated the diary to. With time, Kit learns how to deal with his trauma and his feelings towards the people from his past and starts to heal.
Updates:
To cure your post-SOBH-monday-depression, I will publish a new chapter every Monday afternoon CET, unless I forget. In that case please DO remind me. I'm very forgetful. If I can't publish that day because of something else I will let you know.
You can also find it on Wattpad. Here's the link:
Edit: I also really hate the title of the book, so if you have any suggestions, please comment them here. Thank you.
By the time a part of this is published, I will link it here:
