1- queueing!

instead of feeling bad for spam-reblogging and clogging up other people's feeds, you can click the dropdown and add it to your queue instead!

you can edit how many times a day your queue posts, and between what hours. You can easily re-order or completely shuffle your queue as well!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REBLOG STUFF. Tumblr doesn't run on an algorithm!! YOU are responsible for putting cool stuff onto your followers feeds!

2- personal tags

You can have different tags you use on your blog to help people navigate! for example, i use "dh rb art" when I reblog art and "dh rb" for most other reblogs- that's so that people can filter my reblogs out of their feeds if they dont wanna see that, and only want my original posts to show up.

On the other hand, my art is tagged "dh2497" so they can easily search my account for it!

If you open a person's blog and click the search button, a list of Featured Tags will show up. By default this is just the blogger's most used tags, but you can customize what shows up on yours in your blog settings

You can follow entire hashtags too! if you wanna see hermitcraft fanart without following every hermitcraft artist, follow the tag :D

3- Filtering

Tumblr actually hides things you don't wanna see, very nicely!

In your account settings, you can filter specific tags, and even specific words that show up in the post.

sometimes different bloggers warning tag differently (i do [trigger] tw or [content] cw) so you can try to input every variant, but if its something you really want to avoid just put it in the post content as well. Blocklists aren't really a tumblr thing, so if you wanna avoid an entire community you can block their tag as well

NEVER. CENSOR. YOUR WARNINGS. PLEASE. On twitter or tiktok or wherever, you may have to do that or else the algorithm suppresses it- THERES NO ALGORITHM HERE!!! if someone reblogs your post, it will show up for others, don't worry!!! you're just bypassing filters placed for people's safety, if you censor words.

Also! don't worry too much if a word you wanna filter is commonly used in unrelated contexts- tumblr doesn't remove it entirely, but rather adds a 'spoiler' so that you have to click on it to view it. So just in case it is what you want to avoid, you have time to prepare to see it.

4- effective tagging

[read more in detail here] Only the first 5 tags will show up for people who follow the hashtag. That makes them the most important! Then, the first 20 tags will make the post show up when searching that tag. The rest of them do not give your post any visibility.

I see a lot of people reblogging art with fanart tags- that can be useful for searching back the tag in the reblogger's blog specifically, but doesn't actually give the OP more visibility in that tag.

You'll learn what tags to use by checking the content you come across! most communities are "[word]blr", and most fanart goes "#[character/show] fanart". tumblr tags can have spaces!

Lastly, a few notes

you will only have 1 PRIMARY blog. this will appear when you like a post, comment on a post, or follow a blog. your sideblogs will not link back to your primary blog, but you cannot do those interactions as those sideblogs.

artists love receiving compliments when you reblog!! commenting does NOT boost the post. most people put their compliments in the TAGS of their reblog, so that it doesn't become a long post/thread, and if people reblog the reblog of your reblog you won't keep gettings notifications about it. The artist will still see and very much appreciate it

read up on tumblr etiquette, do not treat this place like twitter or you'll be disliked lol. there are some 'big blogs' but follower counts aren't public, popularity isn't a contest here. make friends, or just block/ignore people you don't get along with. no one cares about your petty arguments

if you noticed the lil cat in my screenshots, that's from a very useful browser extension called XKit!! it enables 1-click queue reblogs (automatically adding your tags), mass-post editing, and lots of other great tweaks vanilla tumblr doesn't have! and the cat is a silly cute thing you can enable in it as well

Hiya! This is a Noisette RP/parody askblog. This introduction will be out of character, as I believe it'd be more fun for you guys to learn more about Noisette as the blog goes on.

First things first, my name is Truffle. Please use they/he to refer to me if you are not talking to/about Noisette. I will put a proper introduction to myself later on, as the rules and boundaries of this blog are more important.

Mr. Puzzles fiddled with the lock, someone must've closed the studio, he hoped that nobody took anything. He was trying to open it with a lock pick you had given him, you were nearby playing with your teddy bear and a cool rock you found. After minutes of trying, the door finally unlocked. Mr. Puzzles sighed in satisfaction and picked you up, he carried you inside. He turned on the lights, thankfully, everything was still here. You looked around in awe, you had never been inside of a studio before, it was so interesting and cool to you. Mr. Puzzles noticed your amazement and smiled, he set you down onto the floor. You ran around, exploring the place and touching new things, you picked up a camera and began recording Mr. Puzzles cleaning up the place. "Here is my friend, Mr. Puzzles! He is currently cleaning up the place after an earthquake wrecked it!" You said, doing a documentary narrators voice. Mr. Puzzles laughed and took the camera from you, "Actually, an earthquake did not happen. A moron came here and wrecked everything." He said, annoyed at the memory, where everything went to sh- crap. Censor yourself, there's a kid here. You climbed onto a tall chair and looked at Mr. Puzzles, grumbling and muttering words that you couldn't quite hear, but you guessed that he was cussing out someone. You tilted your head in curiosity.

"Did the moron hurt you?" You asked. Mr. Puzzles paused and sighed, he nodded. You leaned over and patted him on the shoulder, he smiled. He ruffled your hair, you giggled and tried to pull away. He noticed your torn up teddy bear. "Is that your toy?" You nodded and held it up. "This is Hugs. I found him one day while I was searching for food in the dumpster, he protects me from the monsters in the dark." You said smiling. Mr. Puzzles frowned, he didn't like the way you had to look in garbage for food. He took Hugs out of your hands and observed it. Hugs has definitely seen better days. A ton of crudely sewn stitches, a lot of patches, very dirty, was missing a button, had a missing arm, and was that mold? He looked at you and smiled. "Do you wanna see a magic trick?" He asked. You nodded quickly. You loved magic tricks, your former caretaker used to show you some. He snapped his fingers and a magic aura circled around the bear, and with a blink of an eye, Hugs was all fixed up! He was fully cleaned up, he had his arm and buttons intact, and he didn't have stitches or patches anymore, Mr. Puzzles even gave him blue overalls with a yellow shirt and a bowtie. You squealed in joy, you grabbed Hugs and hugged him tightly, you were smiling and giggling the entire time. Mr. Puzzles found it adorable and ruffled your hair. He sighed and looked at his watch, 9:42 pm. Almost time to turn in. He picked you uppp and carried you to his bedroom, where he changed you out of your clothes and into some unused Puzzlevision pajama merch. He tucked you into bed and sat down next to you, as he gave you Hugs, you grabbed onto his sleeve. Frowning at him. He tilted his head at you, confused.

"You won't leave me, right?" You asked, your lips quivering as you teared up. You remembered how people would treat you well before abandoning you. How many foster parents would be kind to you and once you settled in, you were thrown back into the system, to be abused by your caretakers and other orphans. You remember when you were on the streets and an adult would take care of you and you started to get attached to them, and then they would leave you to die. Mr. Puzzles wiped away your tears, he looked very serious, and you felt scared. "Y/n. I know what it's like. To be alone at such a young age. I don't want you to experience what I did. You fixed me, you helped me, and now I want to repay the favor, by taking care of you. I promise, I will never abandon you. I won't." Mr. Puzzles said. You sniffled and held up your pinky finger. "Pinky promise?" Mr. Puzzles smiled and wrapped his pinky finger around yours. "Pinky promise."

You smiled a bit and wiped your nose, you drifted off to sleep as he turned off the lights and left the room.

Re: Your James Somerton post. I noticed you censored the words k*lling and st*lking; I think people censor things like that on social media to avoid having their posts taken down or being shadowbanned, but on Tumblr it doesn't really make a difference. The algorithm here just isn't that advanced lol. Also, a lot of Tumblr users use the "Content you see" settings to filter out posts with keywords that may be upsetting to them—but this only works when keywords are an exact match. So if somebody filters the words "killing" and "stalking", but a post uses the censored "k*lling" and "st*lking", that post won't be filtered out. That can be a challenge to anyone who doesn't want to see those posts, whether they have a trauma experience or just can't handle heavy topics like that. If you wouldn't mind, would you consider using the uncensored words in your posts so that they only reach those without the content filters? I think it makes a difference and it would mean a lot 🙂. sorry about the confusion, but whenever i censor a series or a person it's not because of like. not wanting to trigger people because if it was that i'd just tag the post with a trigger warning, i censor the words because i don't want them to show up when you search ki/lling st/alking because most of the people doing that are FANS who probably don't want to see people calling their favorite piece of media shit, i do the same with h*rry p&tter or when i'm discussing a popular ship i hate because i want to be clear with people who follow me what i'm talking about but i don't want to deal with fans of that series and also it's just kinda rude in general most of the time
