one of my favorite parts abt writing balancing act is the idea that reader is seen as this total girlboss (in the least cringe way, i swear 😭) so she’ll sometimes be described as - or even describes herself - as that annoying antagonistic evil woman in the hallmark movies. you know, the one that the businessman male lead is engaged to but ends up dumping in favor of choosing the sweeter, nice small town girl instead. but a major part of balancing act is emphasizing how in relationships, there's sort of a part we choose to play when we enter them. so, we get a glimpse of this in the first chapter when reader is talking to utahime, and in the narration, it's mentioned that reader cannot believe that utahime's ex boyfriend broke up w her because he considered her to be "shy" and "demure" but it's commented that reader recalls utahime drunkenly choking out gojo during karaoke night when they were in college; there's nothing shy or demure abt that. and so u wonder (but never ask) about how utahime presented herself in that relationship.

some fun scenes + notes that i took for balancing act:

reader and gojo make intense, intimate eye contact and reader gets nervous, dare i say, thrown off balance, and he thinks you're going to say something sweet and you are thinking of saying something nice and genuine to him but what comes out is "you need to get some brown contacts. seriously." and then u walk off and ur like what the actual fuck did i just say that, why did i say that. he's thinking wtf too

blah blah blah, this is abt how there is no performance when it comes to each other; although, maybe it'll be touched on/mentioned that in the beginning stages of you two being in the process of opening up to each other, there is still a level of performance going on (re: reader immediately trying to turn the embarrassment u feel abt herself by "shaming" gojo for doing the same exact thing only to end up enjoying his company and doing said activity together. maybe something abt how u two always exchange this performance (insulting each other) like it's a type of pleasntry; their own little version of a "hi, how are you" type thing)

short scene immediately after is a convo w him and geto, where geto asks whats got him so happy and gojo is like "we're getting botox together."

and the whole point of ur relationship and why it’ll work and why it’s just so different is that between the two of you, y'all have both always been performative in ur respective romantic relationships (to a certain extent)

but w gojo, reader is unabashedly and sometimes even embarrassingly yourself, your full self, in front of him and when we finally get to month three of the story, you're trying to seduce him, so u get all dressed up

and gojo knows ur trick and he stays strong but what gets him to snap and give in

is when he sees u in the morning, making coffee, no makeup, messy hair, wearing his shirt

ALSO, u tell gojo he's annoying bc he makes u laugh all the time which makes ur makeup crease around ur smile lines + gojo says softly, hidden by the sounds of ur laughter, "but i like ur smile lines. i like your smile"

gojo can be a sweetiepie, reader just needs to have a breakdown in front of him

i wouldn't say it's angst, i think both need to have their own moment of self reflection to be like ok damn, this is who i am as a person. and again, you're both used to being performative people

you'll have a moment where you're close to each other, and the conversation turns serious and maybe even oddly sweet, and reader's "instincts" just kick in and so u back away, both physically and figuratively, trying to change the subject

and i think an important aspect is that this is out of gojo's comfort zone as well; he can joke around, he can be a (poor) flirt, he teases, and so he's putting himself out there by also engaging in serious convo w you, in being the most open about himself

and so it's v hurtful to see the light at the end of the tunnel, to believe that you can really let him in and that it's worth putting himself out there

and so, rationally, he can only handle being shut out (while also feeling like he's being thrown aside) for so long

so cliche, he's drawing back and now you're the one who has to do the pulling him in while he's somewhat pushing you out

just, moral of the story, u can't expect someone to love u unless you show up with your full self in tow and allow them to know you

most of the posts around the internet are the 'doc arent cops' but that wasnt the context of the few posts i made! so in the context of my main 'dont talk to doctors' post, im specifically talking about two situations that got disconnected from the original interaction that inspired the post. the first one was from personal experience. when i fell asleep in my car and accidentally drove of the road, seriously injuring myself, a cop found out i was psychotic via my medication, it immediately went from 'hey are you okay your arm is fucking S shaped' to 'your psychosis caused this, clearly, and we need to discuss your right to a drivers license'. im very, very lucky that im white, middle class, and prepared bc otherwise i could have gone to jail. the second was how an emt/doctor might treat you differently when a cop drops you off at the hospital. the number of stories i have of friends who were denied care bc they were 'clearly' (not at all) hallucinating their symptoms/delusional about being sick is greater than the fingers on both my hands. in one case a friend, who was LITERALLY A DOCTOR, was told her opinion wasn't valid when she said she cllapsed at home bc she was 'doing it for attention'. they denied her medical care!

hi hi! it was my twinny's special day a few days ago (well ex-twin bc she decided to age up😔✋) and this is a short appreciation post for the girl who kept me on this app, and can't maintain one theme for more than 3 weeks❤

1) mood maker: talking to ari really energizes me. her spirit is so positive, it's beautiful really. whenever we get time to chat she always leaves me in a better mood than she found me in. i'll never forget the day we were at it for like, 2 hours straight just sending felix memes back and forth💀💀 long story short, I'm so grateful for having her in my life. even if it's from half way across the globe yk😔 there's nothing like a 'bad day' when she's online ♥

2) great storyteller: there are aspects to ari's writing style that i just have to take this opportunity to commend. her stories are really well paced and it's almost impossible to get bored mid-read. ari's also AMAZING at smaus by the way. she manages to keep their cute appeal and at the same time make them intriguing by adding enough drama. in addition, the determination ari has towards her work, even when she's deep in writer's block or lack of motivation, is simply admirable.(can't spell admire without ari tho😻). i know it's all 'just fanfiction', but this trait speaks volumes about the awesome person she surely is even outside of tumblr.

3) AMAZING event host: any time user aakomii has an event, you just know it'll be a success. and she makes them so INTERESTING?? (i still remember the 1k followers one *sobs*) the way she builds on requests is so enticing to read, because she takes these ideas and goes crazy with them in the best way. my girl has a big brain and i'm saur proud of her for it.

4) random rants and life updates: ari's page is full of little adventures that give her blog so much personality :((( it warms my heart so much pls. sometimes i'll just search up her tag ('ari's talking') to catch up on what i missed. i think the current struggle is the insane prices for enha's concert tickets so pls keep her in your thoughts and prayers y'all💀✋

5) in love with choi beomgyu: this girl is chronically and irreversibly obsessed with beomgyu and i love how unapologetic she is about it💀💀 i honestly don't think she'd give a flying fuck if anyone tried to drag her for it bfjukslhkidi she'd probably just be like "and what about it?" and just keep living on w/ life yk😭 it's gotten to a point where i see gyu and immediately think of her lmfao

my mind needs to put this out there lmao but here goes:

since i've started writing again, my mind is busier now with all the ideas coming in. this means 2 things: one, it satiates my need to feel busy all the time even though i bedrot as a reward for surviving my semester. and two, i dream now.

tbh i like the idea that when you dream, you take a peek of yourself in another dimension (blame marvel ok)

so i had this dream. it felt as if i was in the regency (almost bridgerton timeline) or something like that. i remember being seated in a carriage alongside a few other people who i presume are family?? (they felt familiar to me) and we were to go somewhere. the ride felt long but everything blurred and i was now standing in a vast luncheon-ish picnic by a lake and i was chatting away with this man.

it didn't feel weird or nightmare-ish at all. it was pleasant having seen him and talking to him, almost romantic feeling, yk. he spoke english bcs as much as i don't understand what he's saying, i was replying in english too (felt like he's not the same ethnicity as i am too)

then stuff changed again and it's now a modern house like the one you see on pinterest when you look up "modern minimalist house" something like that lmao so anyways, i was at this house's gate. so i rang the doorbell and came out this house is the same guy from the first part of the dream (he's wearing modern clothing now)

he greets me and we enter the house to a party i thinkkkk and people were there (i, now, assume i was friends with too bcs i interacted with them) and the party seems to extend through the whole suburb block and the houses seem interconnected (?? idk it seemed that way in the dream) so it's like this whole block has houses and a convenience store in it.

i spent the whole time with this guy and it seems like i was dating this guy.

the dream changed again and i was in a restaurant with my family. it's like a reunion or gathering for something. everyone was loud and laughing and they looked like they were having a good time. but i stood up and excused myself from the event but i was stopped as i was about to head out. i even asked "where is ...?" referring to the guy i was dating in the dream. and some people there pointed to the minimalist modern house i was in.

i walked out and was immediately in a convenience store as i was standing in line holding stuff i don't even remember getting. i was with a friend (felt like a friend) and i asked again "where is ...?" and they said that he'd meet us here at the line by the register.

after a while, i waited there and then the guy came with stacks of money (??? idk guys but it looked like currency to me) he showed it the register and just left with the stuff we bought and me at tow. he held my hand and we were walking to our supposed house.

as we were walking, i turned to see him kneeling with whatever on his hand. i asked "what'd you mean you're proposing? that's hardly a ring." something like that. he laughed and said CLEARLY "so do you finally say yes?" and handed me a ring in an acrylic case

and i woke up. goddamn.

Hello again! I am doing better atm - I've basically had like, one long bug for three weeks, and like...I'd start feeling better. Go to work. Get worse from the exertion. Have to miss work. Get better slightly, so go to work...yeah XD I do seem to be on the mend now, I've just got a bit of residual pain and cough, and some of my underlying issues are being a bit unpleasant. But I'm taking it XD I had to take almost a week off work last week but I think the prolonged rest helped.

And hey that sounds really cool though!! So guessing you're in uni then? How's that going? Where I am it's starting to come up to exam season, so the people that I know are in uni at the moment are all quite stressed, bless them.

I don't mind showing you them like, privately, but due to my style being quite...unique (by courtsey of making a lot of it) I try to keep it off public tumblr to some extent, just because anyone who knows me would know immediately this was me. Tbh it's not a big deal if they did, but since I work with kids I feel the need to be more careful with social media these days.

And ok but see, I have very straight hair, and I've always wanted frizzy/fluffy hair!! Sometimes I fear we just want what we don't have XD

I think the hypocrisy is related to the modern world however! Social media kinda encourages a very black and white thinking of things, and most things are not so black and white (I mean like, obviously if someone's like. "Haha, I want to murder babies"...that's not a black and white issue. But you get me XD) So you end up with people being like "x is always bad". Then they'll later be like..."this thing that's basically x is fine"?

Inflation is SHIT. Look when I moved into my current place my phone bill was exactly 10 quid a month. It's not like 13 something!! It's not the biggest hike, my energy bill has freaking doubled, but by nature of it starting at a solid 10 I can see the inflation so much easier. It's a 30% increase!!

And see I am very lucky, I have seen a few online friends! My gf and I met through tumblr, and I've got two close friends that by thankful virtue of being in the same country I've been able to meet quite a few times...I met one who I've since lost contact with sadly, but I'm hoping to meet a couple more! OH and one is in a ldr with one of my close friends so I'll see her when she comes here (well I should do) but idk when that would be yet.

And look I have SO many fast fashion complaints. A big reason why I do so much thrifting and sewing is because I just hate fast fashion. I know it's sorta popular in some circles to talk about the shit quality, but it's shit because companies are paying people like a penny a piece for it -.- I refuse to use places like shein and temu...

I think in the next five years...generally I'm wanting to see a shift in climate change. I have a lot of climate anxiety, and I'm hoping that we start getting actual change in how politicians and companies approach the issues?? I want more eco changes. More bikes, cheaper plant based food, less fossil fuels, etc...I also want my government to stop making life harder for no reason. They recently decided people who have visas to work in the care industry over here can't have their kids come from overseas too?? Like there are people who now have their kids in other countries cause of this shit??? If they're working here, they deserve their kids to be here. How is that not the default idea!!

Less generally, I'm hoping to see improvements in my personal life XD I want to see a couple doctors to get some shit sorted out, and I want to improve my art further, and sort out where exactly I'm going with my career.

And nah that makes perfect sense! Honestly I'm a bit of a pushover, I'll take a lot from people. I think mainly the things that will really make me go. Hm. I mean, if you're outright a really terrible person (like if you told me you murder babies for fun, to use my "terrible person" example from above XD) I'm not gonna be interested in talking to you, but that's kinda obvious. But I think the things that make me go "red flag" are usually more personal things based on past experience. For example, I knew someone once who would move my mobility aids away from me, and I'd be like...right well I can't. Move now. Please give them back. And they're one of the few people I've cut contact with. But tbh I feel like I probably need more boundaries, I just get like...what if I'm being too harsh on this person XD
