My name is Valeria, though I prefer Valerie. I'm one of the Gym Leaders in Kalos, operating Laverre Gym in my beautiful home of Laverre City.

I'm a freelance Fashion Designer as my primary occupation, and I suppose my often-called ethereal works are quite popular worldwide. My portfolio and résumé speak for themselves! I occasionally turn my gym into a venue to host my fashion shows, and promote new designs as well. I'm always searching for my next source of inspiration.

⭐She has her own backstory that's 95% personal headcanons. Other users are welcome to ask her questions and see if she actually gives an answer that's not a half-truth or cryptic! Also, I have her being about 30 years old, though she still looks (and will perpetually look) like an early adult.

⭐Valerie isn't actually a human! She's a changeling, which in this blog's canon is a fae that's able to physically shapeshift. They're a very complex subject, but just know that fae are basically anomalous, magical entities that are neither humans nor pokemon. They do have an innate spiritual connection to Fairy Pokemon, and they don't physically age after reaching adult maturity. NO OTHER USERS should know Valerie is a changeling, unless she tells them personally!

⭐Valerie is really good at drawing and designing and the like, but I'm not tbh, so don't expect me to literally draw up stuff at the drop of a hat. I'll likely be using fair-use images as a crutch, but you're welcome to draw things yourselves for your character if it's intended to be from Valerie!

⭐I guess I'll squeeze this in here: I'm open to shipping Valerie! Idk how Pkmn IRL collectively handles it, but FOR NOW, I'll run a multiship path (where all relationships are AU & disconnected from each other). Valerie's on the aroace spectrum, so... good luck! Seriously though, don't be afraid to have your (of age) character pursue her if they're interested. You never know what may end up developing!

⭐This place will be predominantly SFW! The pkmn franchise as a whole is a E10+ rating at max, and Valerie has no interest in actively pursuing sexual matters. Anything that does arise, including content listed below, will be tagged appropriately.

Yeah you totally should!!! It’s a lot of fun!! And honestly not as sexual as you’re probably assuming. We just hang out and talk about Pokémon and there’s 2 specific and protected NSFW channels if that’s your thing but most of the conversation happens outside those channels.

They were a beloved follower. Best known for being declared a coward for posting on anon and responding with “I would love to ask on my blog but that would ruin my incredible reputation for being someone who doesn’t follow a pokemon smash or pass blog” as well as making incredible propaganda fanart. They were the first person to make a side blog completely dedicated to responding to this blog. But one day they mysteriously disappeared and we will never know why but we will always honor and love them.

• “Cowards”

I can’t remember the first time it was said but we lovingly refer to many followers as cowards. You might be called a coward because you voted pass or because you ask on anon or for any reason. But it’s said with love and not with any hurtful intent.

• Asexual thread

The big thread started with one person saying “I’m asexual so I’m voting pass on everything” and many other asexuals coming in to say all the different ways they’re playing this game. All the way from “I pretend I’m smashing it with a hammer” to “I pretend I’m voting on if it’s dateable” to “I’m voting on if I want to transform into it”. And the point is that everyone can play this game however they want to.

Oh yeah lmao I used to get really excited about March 9 bc in 2013, that’s when I started RPing Will (always used to call today my Williversary). I know it’s been a bit inconsistent in terms of RPing him on and off over time, but since I have dipped my toes into it again this year it makes me really happy to think about! He was a place so much of my inspiration for my original characters stemmed from and really helped spark my creativity again back then, and I have so many good memories of RP partners/threads over the years. He’s what really got me into roleplay to start with!

I’m also super thankful to have met so many cool people since I started. I think my biggest shoutouts go to @barilleon/@crobatics, who has always been a huge source of inspiration esp wrt Pkmn and is an amazing and dear friend to boot, and to @mintythesweettooth who has been a lot of fun to bounce ideas off of and write with for the past few years! Maybe it’s all a little cringe in some regards, but it really has brought me a lot of joy to have explored so many cool storylines and met great people through that one character.

Thinking about Orre.

The games Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness were released in Gen3, but for the GameCube instead of the Game Boy Advanced like RSE and FRLG. It was a whole separate thing and I for one very much enjoyed them to the point that there's something familiar to Orre lurking in Origin and may also go into Cradle -- unless, of course, we have an interlude for an Orre Echo between the first two regions.

Relatively speaking it wouldn't be hard, and I think I'd make it optional, and obviously it would be tailored to each individual character's thread to be coherent with their plot.

Now, I might do this regardless and I might not, but you can have a say in whether or not I do it before finishing Region 2. (SIDE NOTE: Orre's Echo would probably take less time than Johto's Echo, as it's a much smaller "region" with no real native PKMN and is dominantly a Plot Thing.)

For those who don't know, I'm an Andesine working in...I suppose technically Yellow Diamond's court but that kind of thing doesn't matter that much this far down the pecking order. I just make deliveries between colonies. I go where they tell me. I wish they would tell me to go nicer places.

I see things that other Andesines don't seem to see. Out in space, when I'm so far away from any gem controlled planet that I might as well be drifting aimlessly...there are strange things out there. Beautiful things. Alive things. Terrible things. I try to report them, but my supervisor always redacts them. So I thought. Blogging?

Hey all, as you have all likely noticed I have not had the energy to play Amarys almost at all for the past....oh, month or so now? At least. And I want to get back into playing her, but to do so I need to address the barriers that have cropped up.

BBAblr has grown a LOT in the past few months. Which is great, and everyone is for the most part clearly having a good time! I think what makes this section of pkmn irl different from most is that the vast majority of characters are portrayed as physically close by and in the same universe. Which is very fun, but somewhere along the line there was a consensus made about certain aspects of BBA that I don't super vibe with (bullying being a big issue, faculty being entirely incompetent, classes being more similar to traditional schooling).

And these aren't bad or wrong themes to play with. I played with a few of them myself with Amarys once it became clear they weren't going anywhere. But with how incredibly busy the server got, how fast everyone's plots move, and how often these plots and themes aren't really what I initially wanted to play with when I decided to start playing Amarys, it's become incredibly difficult to want to play her at all. That, on top of my irl life getting busier and going through a pretty bad little moment there mentally has created this big block.

Anyway, all of this is a long way of saying that I'm pulling my Amarys back from the main BBAblr a bit. I'm still happy to interact with everyone, but I'm backing off from the server and will be very choosey about doing big plot threads. I'm also going to empty out her askbox, as it's gotten a little overwhelming.

No one's done anything wrong, I'm just old and slow and gotta go at my own pace lol. Y'all keep playing dolls your way, and I will be over here just beside you playing dolls as well. Just slightly different, and a little less often.

GIRATINA, THE RENEGADE

(also known as Cain; the firstborn, the exile, the void, the end of all things)

Once, there was only the original one.

They looked, but saw nothing. They listened, but heard nothing. Because there was yet nothing that existed, except for the Original One. They pondered, for a time, on what this meant. And eventually, they thought:

If I exist, then it is possible to exist. But I did not exist moments ago, so it is also possible to not exist.

From this realization, Giratina, the Firstborn, came to be.

One day, Giratina asked Arceus:

"Honored creator, why must I stay here in your realm? My siblings are free to wander, but I cannot play with them."

Arceus replied, "Because, Giratina, you must not leave. You were my firstborn, created from the void, and the void is your domain."

"But I do not want the void to be my domain. I want to create. Dialga weaves the threads of time together in such beautiful patterns, and Palkia forges the stars and planets in the sky. I wish to create something, too."

"You cannot. It is your nature to destroy, my dear child. If you touch Dialga's weaving, it will unravel. If you enter Palkia's forge, it will go dark. They will not understand that you cannot help it. They will be upset with you. That is why you must stay with me. I understand, and I will keep you safe."

With Giratina came the first fundamental law of the universe:

All that which exists will someday come to an end.

Arceus feared this, so in the hope of preventing it, they created two more: Dialga, weaver of time, and Palkia, forger of space.

Together, they would spread existence out across eternity, faster than the void could consume it. And Giratina, Firstborn, Harbinger of Entropy, would be kept under the Original One's watchful eye.

One day, Giratina grew tired of being kept in the away from the rest of the universe, unable to see their siblings or the world they had built. And so Giratina snuck away.

And the world was wonderful!

First, they visited Dialga's weaving room. Their sibling explained to them that this was where they did their work; Arceus had tasked them with creating the fabric of time. Each thread represented a timeline, and it was Dialga's duty to ensure they were all accounted for. Each one began, converged, ended, precisely where it was supposed to.

Giratina thanked them, and went on their way. Once they left, Dialga saw that the ends of their fabric had begun to fray and wear.

Next, they visited Palkia's forge. Their sibling told them how they fulfilled Arceus' tasks; here, they forged stars and planets to fill the infinite cosmos. Every last creation was unique, each with its own quirks and flaws. ("Those," Palkia told them with a wink, "Are what make them special.")

Giratina thanked them, and went on their way. Once they left, Palkia saw that some of their stars had gone dark, and the planets around them withering away.

Finally, Giratina visited the Earth, where so many more of their parent's creations dwelled. But the Earth was so small compared to Dialga's weaving room or Palkia's forge, and it could not support their presence. All around them things began to grow distorted and decayed—and Arceus found them almost immediately.

Although Giratina's presence might accelerate the march of entropy, it would still continue in their absence. Slowly, surely; such was the law of the universe.

Arceus knew this. But Arceus was still afraid of them. Of its inevitable End.

They could not destroy Giratina, not without unmaking the universe itself.

So instead, they would delay it. With a million billion galaxies and a million billion timeslines to hide behind, and with Giratina kept locked away from all of it.

They would not accept that the fate of all things was to end.

One day, Arceus said to Giratina:

"You disobeyed me. You left, and look what happened. You destroyed your siblings creations, because that is your nature. You cannot be trusted, and so I must punish you."

Arceus then called upon Dialga and Palkia to assist them. With their powers, they would craft a prison for their sibling - one where time would not flow and cause decay, where space would warp and entrap them.

Giratina begged them for forgiveness. Their siblings were guilty, for they did not want to punish Giratina for the crime of being curious. But they could not disobey Arceus—and so they were forced to scorn their sibling's pleas.When their work was complete, Arceus turned to Giratina, and spoke again:

"I told you that you were not allowed to leave, yet you ignored me. Now you will live in a place where you cannot leave. But, you are still my child, and I know that you are fascinated by the world. I am not cruel, so you will still be able to look upon the world from a distance, where you can do no harm."

With that, Arceus reached out and ripped away a share of Giratina's divine power—their right eye—and with it, formed the Griseous Orb, the key to their imprisonment.

It is the nature of all things to end. Eventually, over aeons, even the strongest prison will begin to show cracks.

It's come to my attention that there's been some pkmn irl blogs trying to interact with Pokemon RPC blogs.

While I love the enthusiasm, that's a completely different community, with its own seperate rules. You can't jump in and make an in-universe tumblr post responding to an in-person thread. That's a quick way to get blocked.

So, I'm making a guide to how to interact with Pokemon RPC blogs!

First, though, Shiro made an excellent post here that details the dos and don'ts for interacting with most Pokemon RPC blogs. I recommend checking it out!

Rex also made a good post about this here! I agree with a lot of the points here, and I recommend checking it out, too!

What is the Pokemon RPC?

It's kinda similar to pkmn irl, but only in the sense that we're all RPing Pokemon stuff. Posts are near-universally in-person there, rather than usually being in-universe online like here.

It's a completely different feel, but still a lot of fun! Though interacting with our pkmn irl blogs as-is is heavily discouraged.

Why can't I interact?

Well, first, nearly every RPC blog has a rules page, that you must read before interacting. They also almost all have an about page, that detail the character(s) of the blog.

But most importantly, the formats aren't really compatible.

Imagine you're writing a book with someone else. Then someone walks in and treats it as if it's a social media page.

Doesn't make sense, right? Well, that's basically what happens when a pkmn irl blog tries to interact with a Pokemon RPC one.

Also, in the RPC, reblogging headcanon posts and RP threads you're no involved in is heavily discouraged, so please don't do that.

But I want to interact!

Good news, you can! But you'll have to play by RPC rules. In-person threads, a detailed rules page, and a detailed about page for your character(s). Though it'd be really confusing to do both on one blog.

So I have a suggestion. Make a RPC sideblog! Make a sideblog, but instead of it following the pkmn irl format, it follows the RPC format.

I do this myself! @achampionswings is my RPC blog for Tropius.

Don't be discouraged if some people don't want to interact with you, though. Some people here in pkmn irl don't want to interact with sentient Pokemon blogs, and that's ok, so we shouldn't judge, either. Nobody's going to be interacting with literally every Pokemon RPC blog.

The pkmn irl community is still very new. It only started getting big less than a year ago.

The Pokemon RPC is ages old, and I believe it's nearly as old as tumblr itself.

We're two different communities, and that's ok. It'd be a complicated mess if they were one and the same.

The pkmn irl community is still growing. We're still finding our footing. We're coming into a stage where people are starting to notice us, and that comes with knowing the proper etiquitte on how to interact with other communities like us.

We can do this, though. We've made it this far.

Just respect the rules and etiquitte of these other communities, and I think everything will be fine.

Hey! I've been absolutely DEVOURED by a non fandom writing project but while my enthusiasm is still there, 49K later I can breathe a little and consider fandom things again. On my breaks I think I'm going to work on finishing my updated roster. Below the cut, I'll list the current plans and you can feel free to express interest in anyone. oh ho ho ... now you get to learn about my adventures in talking to friends about ships on discord ohohoho well!

for gan's main verse, he went from 0 to 100 with @perditos's zelda, and by this i mean "ganondorf doesn't understand that he can't just IMMEDIATELY decide to try and court someone he literally just met" (elsa vc YOU CAN'T MARRY SOMEONE YOU JUST MET) - there are red flags in her story but all flags are red flags when you're wearing rose colored glasses! he's fascinated by her and for anyone following the thread, he's really just taking his shot and he's got not the slightest clue that things are going to go to shit no matter what he feels for her or what she feels for him! he's so curious about her and she is also curious about him! he hasn't experienced anyone of hylia's blood who was Interested in LEARNING about him or his people before, so honestly that's some top tier things right there!

for his pkmn verse, which is still a MASSIVE work in progress, he's rather infatuated with yuri (@moonkssd)- they have a great sun/moon dynamic in the way of "gan is sun and lion coded and you can pry that from my cold dead hands" which leads to yuri being a moon maiden and having a dude who is like the sun- they compliment each other there!

actually, now that i look at it ... both his ships so far are sun/moon coded ... i think that's very sexy of me and my writing partners! we know where it's at!

on the note of how to win gan's heart, be patient with him! as in, understand that he has some real problems, and while he can be quite charming and charismatic, he's also ... really a bastard lmao. he seeks power and there's a place he wants to take over (usually hyrule but honestly verse dependent, whatever i can work in lmao) and nothing is going to stop him from trying- don't try to change him, gan is, pun absolutely intended, rather pig-headed about how he does things. if he wants to change, he'll do it on his own accord. loving someone won't stop him from making bad choices- heck, per his main verse, he wants to give zelda hyrule as a wedding present-

he likes others who are also curious. he's drawn toward those who are wise and those who are courageous (match his wit, stand up to him even when he's at his worst, that's a surefire way to get his attention in the best way!)- and whether or not that's a triforce thing or just something he has learned to value in others over time is??? who cares, it all leads to the same point. he will be more willing to open up if someone shows genuine interest in learning about him and the gerudo instead of immediately slapping down stereotypes- which is done all too often (looking at you, rauru!)

other fun things: gan loves to cuddle! his love language is absolutely physical touch, so if he's getting to the point of casual touches (read: i have this thing about the symbolism of hands and whatnot and something something about gan has hands with the power to create or destroy, to hurt or to heal- i'll die on this hill too!) it's a good indication that he likes someone a lot!

where do i begin.... let me quickly summarize my feelings before i get too sleepy.

kagepro has been a massive part of my life. i could even call it my first hyperfixation ever. i got into it like, 11 years ago. learning to draw, moving countries, and making friends online all while having kagepro by my side. ill go more passionately in depth some other time, but like, im not exaggerating in the slightest when i say this project has shaped the person that i am. so to finally reach the end of the novels, which is something i had tried to do so many years ago.. it feels very good. like a sense of serenity. its the same feeling i had when i finally finished pkmn platinum for the first time, like 13 years after i had first started a file. its very touching and personal too.

i admittedly didnt have high expectations for this novel. i watched mca, and i haphazardly followed the manga route and was laden with many misunderstandings. and i knew that this novel would be a bad end, and from my experience with timeloop-focused medias (higurashi, revue starlight, majora's mask, probably some others im forgetting), bad ends are like, never narratively satisfying. how could it be? every timeloop-focused media aims to break free of the loop, not to perpetuate it.

so i was so surprised by how incredibly beautiful this ending ended up being. this novel is like, perfect to me. it managed to wrap up some many loose threads beautifully. im so happy that all my complaints abt the portrayal of shinaya from earlier today have been completely dissuaded. momo, kano, and kido, while they played rather minor roles, exited the story beautifully. takane was just... amazing, and haruka and hibiya as well. literally everyone was written well and were cherished with such thoughtful endings. and of course the centerpiece of the novel, setomary. holding out until the last novel to divulge into seto's pov worked itself out perfectly, making his perspective on things so much more impactful. also, jin showed a complete mastery of writing deeply touching sorrowful scenes, contrasting perfectly against really stupid fucking scenes that makes u laugh out loud. the written version of snowboarding after aerith's death, if u will.

the entire novel was a tragedy, but yet it was so cathartic? it was so unbelievably sad, but there was so much love as well. i wouldve never thought that a bad end of a timeloop story could ever be something like this. time loops itself again, but this time, it was done with the autonomy of the victims. im just like... so amazed by it. when at it's best, kagerou project really is one of the most beautiful stories out there. ill definitely be talking about this for several weeks.

HC : Sinnoh from the early - 1400′s C.E to the late - 1600′s C.E.

last updated july 26, 2021. note that this was all written before the release of legends: arceus. the game heavily contradicts my portrayal of hikari’s sinnoh, and therefore it will not be considered canon on this blog.

i. PRELUDE. 

By the time of its dissolution in the early-1400′s, the Kingdom of Sinnoh had already long been reduced to an empty name --- a rotten structure just waiting to collapse on itself after having stood proudly for many centuries. As is the case with countless historical states, its fall from glory can not be attributed to a single cause, nor can the “ beginning of the end ” be conclusively pinpointed at a specific time. However, though historians may dispute over when the kingdom began to decline, most agree it was already well on its way to ruin by the late-1200′s / early-1300′s, about a century before its downfall. 

Despite the monarch still receiving pledges of loyalty from the nobility and officially ruling by virtue of the “ Celestial Edict ” ( the symbolic right to govern on behalf of the gods ) [1] , the royal court had been sidelined after a string of incompetent rulers, most of whom were young, ill-prepared, and / or susceptible to manipulation when they ascended to the throne. Although they might have been able to scrape by had they reigned during times of peace, the 1300′s were anything but harmonious ; the kingdom’s twilight decades saw widespread turmoil sown by a series of natural disasters and declining qualities of life which, in turn, kindled unrest among the masses and opportunistic nobles --- unrest that gave way to insurrections when Sinnoh’s rulers consistently failed to placate the deities’ wrath ( population displacement and the destruction of infrastructure and resources fueled more turmoil, more turmoil led to more infighting, more infighting wreaked more havoc, and so came about a cycle that no incompetent leadership could break ). [2] 

At its own expense, the Crown delegated its powers to the eight strongest noble clans across Sinnoh, growing increasingly reliant on them to maintain order ; not only did they expand their domains with dwindling supervision from the central government, but they were also allowed to breed and command larger numbers of Pokemon well-suited for warfare, several of which were previously exclusive to the Crown. It wasn’t long before de facto authority rested with those supposedly in service to the monarch, but who were, in reality, carving out their own autonomous states and vying for influence. 

When the last monarch died without leaving a successor, the clan whose territory surrounded the capital forced the remnants of the royal court to submit. Its patriarch then declared the Edict to be in his possession, and so, according to the Heavens’ wishes, he would set out to reunite Sinnoh under his banner. Tantamount to promises of war, the man’s actions only served to provoke the other states : one after another, each leader also laid claim to the Edict as the late queen’s true successor, justifying their upcoming campaigns to restore the former kingdom. As the clans began assembling their armies to prove their right to rule Sinnoh’s peoples, their destiny to reunite its lands, the vast majority --- having very few means to acquire / train strong Pokemon of their own --- could do nothing but brace for the coming storm. 

ii. ERA OF THE WARRING CLANS ( early - 1400′s C.E to late - 1600′s C.E ). 

Better known in Sinnoh as the Era of Humiliation. The turmoil would rage for over two centuries --- a period of near-constant conflict interspersed with the occasional, uneasy ceasefire.

The following are just several among the Era’s many “ highlights ”. 

The ever-changing balance of power --- the fluctuating rise and fall of numerous clans and coalitions --- was partly why the conflict dragged on for as long as it did. The Era began with only eight states led by the eight then-most prominent clans, yet only a few of them would last long enough to see the finale ( albeit not as victors ) ; the rest would, over time, be supplanted or carved apart by the minor clans they formerly dominated. No clan ever came close to achieving total reunification --- none were ever allowed to, both by their neighbors ( allying whenever necessary ) and by outsiders seeking to exploit the chaos. 

The stronger clans were often aided by external states, other Regions competing to establish their presence within Sinnoh ( some clans gradually fell under outside influence to the extent that their affairs were arguably dictated not by the clans themselves, but rather the outsider ). Rival Regions backing opposing clans naturally resulted in proxy wars --- the latter acting partly to further the interests of the former, who don’t participate in combat themselves but do provide their aligned clan(s) with military advisors, Pokemon, funds, etc. In return for such “ generosity ”, they were granted access to Sinnoh’s native Pokemon, and granted control over territories rich with resources they lacked back home. Exactly how significant a role external states played during the Era is disputed to this day, but keeping Sinnoh divided would’ve been in their best interest unless the victorious clan was their own ally / “ puppet ”. Their part in encouraging / prolonging the conflict, as well as the concessions they coerced from the clan-states, gave post-reunification leaders plenty of fuel to inflame competitive sentiments ( sometimes to the point of open hostility ). [3] 

Other Regions weren’t the only outsiders involved, for the opportunities that came with such a long-lasting conflict also attracted mercenaries around the world ; while the vast majority flooded in from continental East Asia and Sinnoh’s neighboring islands, several records name individuals that originated from as far away as Western Europe. A small percentage of the mercenaries chose to settle permanently in Sinnoh, whose leaders continued to utilize their services ( i.e. the wealth of knowledge they brought with them from their home Regions, including science and medicine, infrastructure, political thoughts, philosophies, and even culinary arts ) after the fighting concluded.

Golden Age of piracy and banditry : with the breakdown of central authority and the clans preoccupied by fighting amongst themselves, hundreds of bandits and pirates operated at any given moment, sometimes with near-impunity ( alongside mainly Sneasels / Weaviles, Murkrows / Honchkrows, and Carvanhas / Sharpedos, which contributed to those species’ enduring notoriety ). At their peak, these organized criminals posed a legitimate threat to even the clans themselves. Several of the latter, in fact, went as far as to negotiate ceasefires for the sole purpose of bringing their armies home to eradicate the pests.

Widespread desecration of nature : the longer the wars dragged on, the more callous their participants generally became in their regard for their homeland --- even the influence of religion on the clans’ leaders steadily waned as they sought to better feed their war machines. The Lapras subpopulation had been pushed to the brink of extinction by the time of Sinnoh’s reunification ( hunted primarily for food and their shells, though many were also captured for use as troop ferries ), while whaling and violent competition for fish forced the resident Wailmers and Wailords to seek refuge further north in the Sea of Okhotsk. Similarly, the Region’s last Mamoswines confined themselves to the tallest peaks of the Coronet mountain range, where few hunters would dare venture. It would be many decades post-reunification before the megafauna returned to the extent of their pre-war habitat ranges. Tooth and nail their local communities fought, yet Sinnoh’s precious ecosystems would also fall prey to the war’s ravenous appetite. For instance, much of the wetlands in the south were eventually drained for agriculture and, to a lesser degree, route construction to facilitate troop movements, while whatever remained suffered from contaminated runoff. Their restoration and protection fortunately began immediately after the Era’s conclusion, culminating in what is known today as the “ Great Marsh ” ( still, the wetlands are a shadow of their former selves and can never return to full size, thanks to the urban and rural developments that had taken place after their degradation ).  Eterna Forest --- a site of the utmost sanctity, thought to be watched over and inhabited by countless spirits --- is one of few exceptions in that it emerged from the war in decent condition. Even during the Era’s latter half, when environmental destruction was at its most rampant, the belligerents avoided large swathes of Eterna out of fear that it was capable of retaliation ; surely, the disappearance of entire armies traveling through the forest contributed to the superstition ( in actuality, they might have simply fell to a guerrilla movement or bandit gang based there . . . but spirits or deities are not totally out of the question ).   

The largest tunnels and caves in the Coronet mountain range --- the same ones in popular use today --- are believed to have been constructed during this period, many of them by different clans yet for the exact same purpose. Armies from either Western or Eastern Sinnoh would have been able to cross in short order without dealing with the mountains’ treacherous terrain, harsh blizzards, and all the logistical headaches their journeys would’ve entailed. Although these tunnel systems weren’t the first or the last to ever be built, they remain the largest by far. Pokemon of the Machamp, Rhyperior, and Steelix evolutionary lines may have made up most of the workforces. 

iii. REUNIFICATION. 

It was neither a noble clan nor a foreign party that brought over two centuries of devastation to a close, but rather an army born from the long-simmering frustration of the commoners ( how could peasants possibly find enough battle-worthy Pokemon to field a sizable force? ). The first seeds allowing such an unexpected outcome were planted when one of the weaker clans --- unable to simultaneously fend off their neighbors and the outlaws ravaging the countryside --- bestowed authority upon a village chieftain to see to the latter task ; in other words, he was permitted to form and train his own militia with loose restrictions on the number and species of Pokemon that could be caught / bred, as well as the assistance of military advisors ( it was a fatal mistake to assume they would keep the man in check when recent losses had drained their confidence in the clan’s prospect of survival ).

Through his own religious zeal --- his ardent speeches to the masses asserting that the Heavens were entrusting Sinnoh’s future in their hands ( not the nobles but them, the common people upon whose backs Sinnoh was always built ) --- the chieftain gained immense support beyond the boundaries of his village. After months of recruitment and training, his ragtag army of former peasants and “ common, remarkably-ordinary Pokemon any commander would be humiliated to see among their own forces ” ( in the words of one advisor ) quashed the fiercest of the bandit gangs . . . whose members subsequently enlisted in the chieftain’s cause, bolstering it with not-so-ordinary species including Weaviles, Crobats, and Gyarados. His startling success won him allies even amongst the clan’s own troops and officials ; after the patriarch surrendered to the rebels with little resistance, they shifted their attention to the remaining clan-states, all weakened by centuries of warfare and perfectly ripe for the taking. 

Of the many thousands who took part in that final campaign to end the strife, two would later join the ranks of Sinnoh’s most esteemed folk heroes : 

the village chieftain who made it all possible, whose impassioned words delivered the spirits of revolution and promises of a new world to the farthest ends of the Region. The man would be honored posthumously as “ Champion of the Commonalty ” [4]  for his advocacy of all Sinnohans, namely their rights to an education, to a stronger say in their own governance, and to train their own Pokemon for a variety of activities, including combat.

a young girl --- the Champion’s right-hand woman, “ Savior of Sinnoh ” --- who was allegedly blessed by the Heavens themselves [5]  since she and her team emerged triumphantly from all their hundred plus battles, no matter the objective and no matter the odds. A warrior and a leader of unprecedented skill, she vowed to live and die for nothing less than total reunification.  When the last clans formed a coalition in a last-ditch effort to quell their former subjects, the Savior defeated them and hunted them down to their very last stronghold. When external parties aided the clans in hopes of averting Sinnoh’s reunification, the Savior provoked them to meet her on the battlefield and drove them out of her homeland. When the cause seemed doomed to irremediable collapse, the Savior rallied the troops --- oftentimes spearheading the counterattacks herself --- to eek out impossible victory after impossible victory. If the Champion was responsible for sparking the flames of rebellion, then the Savior was the one stubbornly fanning them even during the heaviest rainstorms.

iv. CONSEQUENCES.

Image, power and pride. From the kingdom’s ashes --- from the ill, war-torn and exploitable backwater it had been shamefully reduced to --- something magnificent must be rebuilt. The Sinnohan people have been utterly humiliated by centuries of infighting ( of inflicting harm upon their own lands and fellow inhabitants. of failing and disappointing the Heavens. of being taken advantage of by outside parties ) ; embroiled in chaos for so long that chaos was all they knew, and it was difficult to believe there’d ever been a thriving civilization where ruins now stood ( of cities, monuments, shrines, palaces and fortresses. the skeletons of golden ages ). Sinnoh was dead. But Sinnoh was born. And this time, it would last for as long as the gods will live. The new leaders --- many of them former warriors and commanders in the rebel army --- hoped to salvage their homeland’s reputation as a great power, restore its favor with the Heavens and ensure it would never again tumble from grace. To that end, they ( and their successors ) promoted unity, loyalty and service to the homeland, an undercurrent of the “ warrior ethos ” in all walks of life, and the creation of a society that churns out ambitious and competent citizens sharing a “ higher purpose ”.  Capturing and training Pokemon was now encouraged by the government and perceived as a common right ( with some regulation. permits for many species and areas were still required, are still required, but applying for one’s no longer a grueling process with little to no chance of approval for the average Sinnohan ). What was once a privilege virtually exclusive to royalty, nobility, and the military became an activity most of the population could teach and / or learn, albeit more so for security ( of the self and of the community ), duels / matters of honor, and hunting than for sport, initially [6] . To be a competent Trainer was a hallmark of other desirable qualities, a societal virtue, one that couldn’t be true of an individual if said qualities were not already present --- tenacity, boldness, ambition, conviction ; become a competent Trainer --- prove that you are tenacious and bold and ambitious --- and you’d find yourself one giant leap closer to the image of the “ ideal Sinnohan ”.  Further opportunities to earn back prestige materialized with the global rise of battling as a competitive sport, followed eventually by the conception of the first Pokemon League ; since other Regions were exalting their own Elite Fours and Champions for future generations, Sinnoh ought to follow suit . . . and aim to one-up them.  Of course, the sheer might of its Trainers is far from the only thing through which the Region hopes to project an impressive image. It must also maintain its current status as a scientific leader for the foreseeable future --- stay ahead of the game no matter what ; keep spearheading the developments of renewable / sustainable energy sources and technology, particularly spaceflight capabilities ( a field in which Sinnoh may be jostling with Hoenn for superiority ) [7] .

Conservation and preservation emerged as two of Sinnoh’s strongest values post-reunification, mainly due to the alteration of landscapes and the loss of resources and biodiversity induced by the fighting. A prevailing fear among the new leaders was the possibility --- inevitability --- of their homeland’s reliance on foreign technology / resources if it failed to recover and protect what’d nearly been lost. To ensure that reverence for nature would last far into the future, native species, landscapes, and other natural wonders were marked as icons of Regional pride ( “ what makes Sinnoh Sinnoh ” ), then safeguarded by legislation, religion, and an educational emphasis on the value of such things as “ sustainable development ” and “ clean energy ” ( i.e. regardless of their year, institution, or dream path, every student must learn to respect Sinnoh’s lands and waters ).  Modernization and supremacy will always be of the utmost importance, but it should be pursued at minimized expense to the nature Sinnoh is fortunate to still possess. Sadly, the second part has occasionally been forgotten. 

The leadership’s wariness of outside entities --- from foreign industries ( which are almost never favored over domestic ones ) to international organizations like Interpol ( because they are not exclusively Sinnoh’s to supervise ) --- stems from a desire to keep all non-Sinnohan influences in check. No outside entity will obtain a foothold strong enough that they can threaten the current order, or force the Region to rely on them for something. No outside entity will stick their nose in what ought to remain Sinnoh’s own business. This somewhat backfired during the Galactic Plot.

v. ENDNOTES.

[1]  The Celestial Edict was cemented by the Crown’s possession of both the Lustrous and Adamant Orbs, as well as, to a lesser degree, the seventeen Plates. While the Orbs remained in the royal household at all times, however, the Plates could be bestowed upon individuals of the Crown’s choosing to signify that they --- above all else --- have earned the right to represent / enforce the monarch’s authority, especially in dire times.

[2] a. The first disaster was the eruption of Stark Mountain in 1315, one of the worst volcanic eruptions in recorded history. The subsequent tsunami and pyroclastic flows caused most of the direct fatalities, having devastated whole communities many kilometers away from the volcano itself, while the ejection of gases and ash into the atmosphere led to harvest failures, a years-long volcanic winter, and record-low temperatures even in Sinnoh’s far north.   It is believed that the eruption was triggered entirely by Heatran’s awakening. One power-hungry noble’s journal mentions an expedition to seize the Magma Stone and provoke a disaster, thus delivering the death blow to the already-fragile kingdom and crippling her competition all at once ; if she did actually follow through with her plans, though, there are no known records as to how the Stone was returned to pacify Heatran.

     b. Chaotic times were regarded as explicit proof of the deities’ displeasure with the monarchy, and that the Edict was slipping from the ruler’s grasp. Its withdrawal would legitimize any attempt to install a new government. 

[3] The competitive sentiments felt toward other Regions aren’t quite as vehement as they used to be. However, while the last several administrations managed to tone “ Sinnohan pride ” down a few notches ( by refraining from the hawkish rhetoric their predecessors were fond of ), there is still a widespread drive to be stronger and better, partly to ensure the Era of Humiliation will never be repeated.  

[4] “ Champion of the Commonalty ” may have been the inspiration for the Sinnohan League’s “ Champion ” title ( according to school textbooks it indeed is ), though it is just as likely they followed after their neighbors. By the time Sinnoh established its own, Kanto’s and Johto’s were already using the title.  

[5] a. Little is known for certain about the Savior’s life beyond her role in the wars, since most details were gleaned from accounts written many years after Sinnoh’s reunification ( such an excruciating task it is to distinguish legend from truth, embellishment from objectivity --- even more so when the leaders were all too happy to help elevate her image ). How did she acquire the deities’ blessings? From birth? Did she make direct contact with the Heavens? Or were her victories purely a result of personal skill, both her own and her companions’, while the gods and spirits had nothing to do with them? . . . Perhaps the reality is some combination of all of the above?  One historian from the Era wrote of an ancient, obscure lake in Sinnoh’s far east “ just as sacred as the Guardians’ three, ” in which the Savior had submerged herself to seek a gateway connecting the mortal realm and the Heavens. However, someone in Veilstone, near Lake Valor, might argue in favor of Azelf ; courage and determination allowed her to follow through with her brash plans, even when everyone around her was urging for a retreat or surrender.  Mesprit is most likely to be the pick for a Twinleafer, whose hometown is near Lake Verity ; without the fiery spirit with which the Savior displayed to rally the troops in their worst hours --- to sway the chieftain for one last effort when defeat seemed inevitable --- she never would’ve rose to prominence in the first place. 

[6] It would be some time before battling’s appeal as a sport was fully realized ; its proliferation was thanks in part to the invention of the Pokeball, which allowed for a simpler means of capture, training, and even bonding ( ultimately, it enabled more Trainers to form teams ).

[7] To those willing to venture beyond their home planet, the infinite frontiers promise also-infinite resources and opportunities to acquire them, such as asteroid mining and new worlds for settlements. Supremacy in space will also guarantee more influence on Earth --- if Sinnoh controls the supply chains for extraterrestrial materials, if it builds the best rockets and trains the best astronauts, if it is most responsible for discovering aliens and alien Pokemon, who knows what sort of future will be gifted to the Region’s posterity?

This is an RP blog. This means I will be trying my best to roleplay as Gym Leader Roxie with the limited information we have on her. I will be including several headcanons of mine regarding this character, though none of them are too drastic.
