I wonder if in the DE universe, the invention of motor carriages was first made so companies could trade their goods through the Pale, because otherwise, horses would just go absolutely mad after a few trips back and forth? Motor carriages aren’t a very universal thing because they are extremely expensive to manufacture, so people typically get around by foot, bike, or horseback. The only people who have motor carriages are companies (for the use of transportation through the Pale), the RCM (for pursuit of people in runaway lorries), and people who are rich enough to have a personal motor carriage (apparently Soona’s got a ton of money for this logic though, she mentions having one).

The way I know that if she's nominated again against literally anyone Chiara is the one leaving because people hate her for some reason and I don't even care anymore because I've already kinda lived through this before and I know how it's gonna end.

See, I was a fan of Natalia Lacunza and Alba Reche back in OT2018 (those two and Julia Medina were my faves). Back in the day, they shared a fandom, similar to how Chiara and Violeta share their fandom now too; actually, it's the basically the same one (Violeta was part of that same fandom once too lmao I wonder how she feels now that she's the protagonist), it's the same fans. And I remember that people started hating on them as well. The thing is that, if I recall-- neither Alba or Natalia were ever nominated. They were among the best and worked their asses off more than anyone else, and they basically impossible to nominate-- and if they weren't nominated then they couldn't be kicked out, which made some people even more pissed off (lmao). Both became finalists without much trouble. What happened then is that there was vote division (again, shared fandom, this is what's gonna happen to Juanjo and Martin fans too if they both get to the finals, just wait). And that people who disliked them decided to join forces to make Famous the winner, so Alba ended up in second place and Natalia ended up in third place (I will never forget Alba's face when Natalia ended up in third place; she, just like me, thought she was gonna be the winner lmao she deserved it the most).

Now, I liked Famous, he had a great voice and I thought he definitely deserved to be a finalist from the moment I heard him sing for the first time. But he also passed by the contest being-- ignored, practically. And after winning, people basically ignored him again. Barely anyone went to his album signature events, for example. Nowadays, the guy still works in musicals and is fine and all, but when we talk about being relevant, he didn't really become relevant: Natalia and Alba are the ones who are remembered the most from that edition and the ones who still make the most numbers. And this is what's gonna happen with Chiara and Violeta: some people hate them and insult them, but then Violeta gets out and-- she is treated like a winner, fans go see her everywhere and she literally spends six hours signing autographs on her second day out, along with being followed and loved by some of the most relevant influencers or singers of the country (including Natalia herself, and Julia Medina, and most of the 2018 edition, along with Chenoa who is one of the most iconic people from this contest—OT1 everyone—saying she sees a lot of herself in her and that she knows she'll have a great career). And Chiara's more of the same, she is also very loved already by many people just like Violeta is, no matter how many unjustified hate she gets lmao. She and Violeta are the only ones who've already got over 200k followers on Instagram (230k for Violeta and 225k for Chiara I think??) and they are among the ones with most listeners on Spotify. So, yeah, keep hating on Chiara all you want and saying you'd all vote this random contestant over her because you don't like her; everyone in the industry likes her, is one of the only ones with a proper fanbase, she has thrice as many followers as that does, and his most listened song is the one he sang with Chiara-- which is also Chiara's least listened one. I'm sure she'll be fine. Lmao.

March Jobs Report: Inflation Concerns Could Derail A Historically Bullish Day

Yesterday’s ADP private payroll report was stronger than anticipated with 242k new jobs being added versus expectations for around 200k. In less unusual times, strong employment data would generally be a positive for the economy and the market, but when the Fed is raising rates in an effort to slow inflation, this is not so great. Tomorrow morning the official government tally is scheduled to be released. Expectations are running around the 225k level of net new job creation. Any level greater is likely to only add further pressure on the Fed. And if the opposite transpires, there is still CPI and PPI next week.

Historically, March’s job report release day (February numbers) has a bullish track record over the last 23 year. DJI, S&P 500 and Russell 1000 have the best records, up 69.6% of the time. Small-cap stocks, measured by the Russell 2000 have also held up well. Average gains on the day have been mild ranging between 0.06% for NASDAQ and 0.35% for Russell 2000. In the last four years, all five indexes have declined three times, pressuring the days bullish streak.

Raid Ninja (R:SL)

Really liking Ninja for bosses (since he was specifically designed for bosses). My go to on him is is Haliburn; every four turns, he does three attacks that have a chance to place an HP Burn debuff on a target for three turns (3 stacks).

Under normal HP Burn rules, only one Burn effect can be active at a time and the subsequent two applications would be wasted but for Ninja, each application activates the one prior: giving you the potential damage of all three.

Also under normal Burn rules, you would have to wait for the start of an enemies turn for a stack of Burn to activate (3 stacks takes 3 turns to get the full damage potential). Ninja consolidates potentially four stacks of damage into one turn while leaving two stacks to play out as normal.

On a clan boss, this is capped at 75k damage. At worst, the debuff is resisted. At minimum, you'd deal 225k over three turns but at best; 450k immediate damage with 225k follow up damage over the next three turns.

At base, you can use this ability once every four turns; which can give you a little over 150k damage per turn average. Maxing Haliburn's skill level will let you use it once every three turns (for a potential average of 200k dmg per turn).

His Cyan Slash (once every four turns at base; once every three turns when maxed) will decrease the cooldown on Haliburn by 1 turn. This creates a faster activation cycle for Haliburn.

And at this point, I'm not inclined to math out what that means for damage but that's a lot of damage; most importantly (especially against bosses that scale in strength as time goes on), this damage comes earlier; is more front loaded. It gets more score in fewer rounds which helps players that have a more difficult time surviving higher level rounds.

Harry/Draco (2021, Mature, 225k)

On Halloween 1981, Albus Dumbledore made a decision that would change the course of history, concealing Harry Potter’s survival at the hands of Lord Voldemort underneath a Fidelius Charm. But when Harry comes of age in the Muggle world, Dumbledore realises too late that the fate of the world may depend on a boy who has never held a wand.

“While I am naught but ghost when by your side,

A shadow o’er your radiance concealed,

Your burden to be seen and mine to hide,

I’d give to you my curse to be your shield.

Are we without the other incomplete,

Or bishops, forced to pass but never meet?”

As someone who a) hasn’t felt any interest in canon rewrites since the glorious Hermione’s Hogwarts Crammer and b) hasn’t read anything over 200k in pretty much a year, I spent the better part of last week utterly and completely absorbed in this fic. My initial idea was to only check 1-2 chapters to get a sense of it and go back once I had more time, next thing I knew I was devouring this as if there’s no tomorrow 😂 despite loving the castle I don’t read Hogwarts fics very often, and now I resent myself for almost forgetting how fun and moving it is to see Muggle Harry exploring the wonders and dangers of the Wizarding World for the 1st time.

It was amazing to see this version of him, witty, defiant, creative and excited to learn, guided by these equally fascinating versions of Draco and Hermione. Both characters are full of nuance and personality, each one with strong virtues and ugly flaws (except Luna - she’s flawless of course) and I’m amazed at how organically and realistically the character development and growing camaraderie were executed. Not to mention the fabulous supporting cast - smart and fierce Charlotte! Morally grey Dumbledore and McGonagall! Plus melancholique Snape, sympathetique Pansy, brave Neville, competent Cedric, and the genius Bard with his poignant love sonnet that inspired this rec banner. Each character feels distinct, complex and unique, and I’m gonna miss them now the Fellowship of the Ring (haha) is over.

For starters the plot is brilliant, simple yet not simplistic, engaging, exciting (did I mention there’s multiverse??? I die) and also effective thanks to alternating POVs and the masterful tension building. It takes a little bit for Harry and Draco to meet in this story, but when they do things are so well established you already know a storm is brewing and hell will break loose sooner or later. The pacing balances moments of calmness and urgency but you watch these two characters learn and change each other, all but waiting for that big reveal moment to come. And because we’re talking about stopping Voldemort, stakes are high and go way beyond the Drarry romance - which is soft in a heartbreakingly young way - and includes Draco’s own redemption arc as he rises to confront his fate.

This is getting too long (as always) but 2 things I need to mention are first, the stunning, vibrant and atmospheric art pieces created by Razielim for this fic - holy wow they capture the fic mood and aesthetics perfectly, and I’m so so pleased that I got to visualize my personal fave scenes. The second big shoutout goes to the delicious nostalgia I got out of all those 80s and 90s references, from movies to football to Sirius’ excellent taste in music without even showing up. On a personal note (honestly, what isn’t in this rec), Rumours by Fleetwood Mac is my all-time favorite album and seeing it in this story filled my heart with such warmth and longing, I suddenly felt seen and realized that this might as well have been written for me, which is such a heartwarming feeling ❤️

Reading this fic took me days but it definitely didn’t feel like 220k either. I’m impressed by how smoothly the narrative combined plot development, thrilling action and slow, tender romance. Every decision made sense and felt earned, leading us through an epic retelling with these characters that feel both foreign and familiar to us. I had a blast reading this, fell in love with these characters, and would love to see this fic getting more attention and praise, especially being the author’s second work in the fandom (and their first completed fic!). Now I’ve done my duty screaming about this, I’m off to check the other two :D enjoy!

Random: While League Competitions can vary in set-up and timeline, the norm is 256 trainers competing in a knock-out style tournament, with five games per day for the early rounds, knocked down to four per day for the Top 16 and Top 8 and one per day for the finals and championship battles.
