There's a scene in the Orichalcos arc where Weevil taunts Atem with a card he claims can save Yugi before ripping it in front of him and Atem loses his shit and proceeds to beat the fuck out of him by having his monsters attack him 7 times, and probably would've gone for more if Anzu hadn't stopped him
I've seen many theories saying that these 7 hits were for the 5 exodia cards Weevil threw off the ship with the last two hits being for the two cards Joey risked his life to save. But I call bullshit on that and propose this:
Amnesiac or not, numbers have a lot of importance in various mythologies and cultures worldwide. In Irish myth, you'll see a lot of 3's and 9's. In Egyptian lore one of the numbers most present is 7. In this moment of rage fuelled grief, I fully believe Atem instinctually regressed to his pharaoh days and was doling out a divine punishment on Weevil. If he had continued attacking, I think he would've capped off at 14 hits, the exact number of body parts that the god Seth cut Osiris into so he could be scattered all over Egypt - 7 body parts in upper Egypt and 7 more in lower Egypt
In this moment, Atem starts off as the grieving Isis desperately willing to do anything to bring her lover [Osiris] back from the dead but the second Weevil rips up the card, he becomes the angry Seth who cuts Osiris into pieces in the first place. Because if Anzu hadn't stopped him he may well have fallen to his own rage and the seal itself and never been able to get Yugi back as a result
Thank you for coming to my short essay on mythology symbolism and how it applies to Atem, the pharaoh of egypt himself *drops mic and walks off stage*
i don't like season three when viewing it as a continuation of seasons one and two, but i do very much like season three when viewing it as the prequel to seasons four and five... hmmmmm.
after going through the ao3 tag, I am very glad I am not the only one who looked at the baby who was sacrificed by his father for his selfish pursuit of glory, eaten by the demons and left without all his limbs and senses, and after revealing himself to his family was blamed by them for his survival (while they tried to sacrifice him once AGAIN) and thought TODOROKI TOUYA
actually yeah im fucking loving politics rn like its so fucking satisfying to watch the republicans absolutely CRUMBLE underneath realizing that they have completely lost the plot, have become the absolute most out of touch party.
still thinking about how one of my first yyh meta posts got reblogged onto an sjw cringe comp blog in the year of our woke 2022. truly tumblr dot com, the last bastion of progressivism, has fallen (<- sarcasm) and also i'm kinda baffled that they didn't choose like. me putting yusuke in a skirt or something
Slight delicious Party Pretty Cure Spoilers (narcistoru related)
Two things.
One, this scene still means everything to me. Narcistoru struggling with food is not treated as a joke, it's not treated as something he controls, it's not treated as something that makes him a bad person. It's treated as what it is: a personal struggle that he has to deal with (and which is a problem for him but not something that he's to blame for, as people love to do with picky eaters). I also love how they say it, they mention some specifics of his his struggle and how it affects him.
(Spoiler for further episodes), The way that his character is concluded is also so special to me. It's not as much about him being a better person, as much as it is about him finding a type of food he enjoys. It's about him being happier (they do a similair thing for secretoru and i love it).
Two, the girls look like they've just been told someone fucking died and it's so funny to me
I dont talk about liveship traders a lot cuz i have fitz brainrot but these books are literally so good i just love how robin hobb explores the relationships between the vestrit women and how each of them grapples with their patriarchal society, i love a story that follows multiple generations of a family and how the members parallel and contrast each other, i love their character development and how hobb realistically portrays their struggles with unlearning misogynistic believes and the generational divide in the way they look at the world. I just love the vestrits a lot
raylas gonna come back in breathtaking and callum’s gonna say “ you’re as breathtaking as the day i lost you”
I do think she'll arrive at the very end of 4x03 "Breathtaking" but the bulk of their reunion will be saved for the next episode. I also think the reunion is not going to go... well, or not mostly well. Rayla has 1) come back of her own accord and 2) completely unharmed (as far as we know). I think Callum will be relieved at best but it's also like, the perfect ground for him to be pissed at her. The only time I thought Callum would be super sweet seeing her again is if she was injured and maybe if he had gone looking for her (bc just that action would carry a certain amount of forgiveness) but neither of those are here, so.
The more I think about it the more I think we're looking at an episodes long reconciliation arc
thanks for the answering about og!lloyd and kim suho.... also what are your fav chapters/arcs in tged?
I have several favorite chapters! (It's hard to choose. I like chapter 24 of tged manhwa the most.) But if about the arc...of course, as I am the number one fan of the Hell arc (as I like to call it the railroad arc.)
Hell arc ofc!!!!! (Chapter 228-245)
Everything about this arc is so perfect. The comedy, sentiment, character development, Hell King is handsome as hell, chibi ghost og! Lloyd etc. It's my favorite arc in the novel!! Even if we take Hellkaros out, I still really like it. I love seeing Javier's development. Learn about og! Lloyd's pov after his body was taken. Including the part I could die for, like when he asked about his family while talking to Suho (even though he still doesn't like Javier), and god, his tears were awesome too. It makes me even more excited we would see og! Lloyd cries in the manhwa soon...tempting...hehehe
I also liked the part where KSH!Lloyd built a graveyard for the Satanists. If this part is cut out for the sake of FUCKING ENTERTAINMENT AGAIN I will go crazy and, bite someone.
There were a lot of details I liked about this arc, such as how the Hell King differs from a normal narrative. The Hell King who wants to go home. Oh, even if he acts like a little shit later on and I want to punch this no bitches loser-girl failure's face. But the realism of the Hell King being no different from the work slave really resonated with me.
(Because I often sacrifice my sleep to draw. My normal hours are taken up by work...and I'm also a workaholic...He is just like me fr....He is so me!!!!!!!!) This is the part that makes me like this arc even more. It's really so perfect!!!!
It's a bit sad there's no one for me to talk to about this arc. *cries*
bobby’s a bit of a cunt (affectionate) but i’m just continually facinated by the ways the detective hits out at them and vice versa when their relationship is that of exes, romantic or otherwise. No strikes at you as well as someone who Knew you huh.
