Hiiii your work is saur goood ! Can I request a BK x fem reader angsty based on this song :0 ? no nsfw just pure angsty please :’) thank chuu 🙏🏻✨
running into your ex, bakugou katsuki (angst)
thank you so much for the request! :) idk if this is even angsty enough tbh my brain juices just weren’t flowing so i just projected my deadbeat ex onto katsuki
(sfw) breakup + post-breakup, katsuki has commitment issues in this one 🙂‍↔️ bakugou katsuki x gn!reader, pro-heroes
the hero gala is in full swing, the grand hall buzzing with laughter, clinking glasses, and the soft murmur of conversations. you navigate through the crowd, your smile polite, your demeanor composed. tonight is about celebrating the heroes who protect society, and you intend to keep up appearances, no matter the turmoil inside you.
then you see him standing near the entrance. katsuki. he looks every bit the hero he’s become — strong, confident, the fire in his eyes as fierce as ever.
your heart clenches, but you force yourself to breathe, to stay calm. it’s been months since the two of you broke up, months since you’ve seen him. you remember that day all too well. the day your whole world came crashing down on you.
“y/n,” katsuki doesn’t meet your eyes when he speaks. his hands are in yours, but you feel anything but close to him right now. when he finally speaks again, his voice is rough, laced with bitterness. "we need to talk."
you tear your gaze away. no, you can’t do this right now. instead, you try to focus on everything else — the drink in your hand, the music. anything to distract yourself from the number 2 pro hero.
“what’s wrong?”you try to sound calm, but your shaky voice betrays you. katsuki’s eyes snap up from the ground to look at you, and this time you’re the one avoiding eye contact as you feel yourself start to tear up.
"we can’t keep doing this. it’s not working."
the words hit you like a punch to the gut. you knew this was coming, had felt the distance growing between you two for months now, but you’ve been trying so hard to stay hopeful. "what do you mean?"
“don’t play dumb with me. you know exactly what i mean. this... us.” he squeezes your hand once before letting go. “it’s not working."
you swallow hard, your throat tight. you finally bring your gaze up to look at katsuki, who frowns at your tear-streaked face. his expression is marred by something. maybe regret? the familiar spark in his eyes is dim, and you wonder when you last saw him truly smile.
“are you giving up?”
he flinches at the accusation. "it’s not giving up. it’s... being realistic.” you don’t respond, and he continues. “i can’t afford any distractions if i’m going to be the best.”
“is that all i am to you? a distraction?” you hate how pathetic you sound.
“it’s not that simple,” katsuki snaps, frustration flashing in his eyes. “you mean a lot to me. but this is my dream. it’s what i’ve been working for my whole life.”
“i’ve never wanted to hold you back.”
“i know,” katsuki’s gaze softens. “this isn’t your fault. this is just something that i have to do...” katsuki falters. he takes a deep breath before continuing, “without you.”
“okay," you say, your voice barely above a whisper. "if that’s what you want."
katsuki’s eyes snap back to you. "it’s not what i want," he says. “it’s what i need.” he takes a step back, away from you and you grab his wrist.
“are you sure?”you ask quietly, lips trembling.
he hesitates for a moment, and you almost hope he’ll stay, that he’ll fight for you, for what you had. but then he nods and turns, walking away with heavy steps.
you’re standing by the refreshment table, sipping a glass of champagne, when you hear his voice from behind you.
"hey."
you turn, your heart pounding in your chest. lo and behold, katsuki is standing there. he’s a bit closer than you expected, you can catch the familiar scent of his cologne.
“bakugou,” you greet with a strained smile that doesn’t reach your eyes. you would be lying if you said that you didn’t relish in the way his eyes narrowed at the use of his family name.
“you call my ma and pa by their names,” he frowns. “s’weird if you don’t call me by mine too.”
“i haven’t spoken to you or your family in months,” you raise an eyebrow at him, and he nods slowly.
“right.” he clears his throat awkwardly. “so, how are y—”
“let’s not do this,” you cut him off, frowning. “i appreciate you coming over to say hi. we can stop there.”
he frowns at you. “m’not allowed to talk to you?”
“if you cared about my life, you should’ve stayed in it.”
you wait for bakugou to respond, but he stays quiet, so you turn away and leave.

—after breaking up with y/n, bada realises that howl isn’t the one she truly wants.
it was a nasty breakup between you and bada.
there were A LOT of tears from you while bada managed to stay stone cold.
“i don’t want to be with you anymore y/n, i don’t love you.”
you couldn’t believe it, you had just spent a year of your life with bada and you thought things were going absolutely fine. sure you guys had your arguments here and there, but which couple doesn’t????
“please bada,” you begged, “tell me what i did and i can fix it, please.”
“you can’t y/n, i’ve met someone else.”
those words shattered your heart.
she met someone else? bada… cheated on you?
your stomach dropped at the thought, you couldn’t even look the tall girl in the eye as you ran out the room, tears rushing down your cheeks.
it had been a year and half since that fateful night.
you stopped going to dance classes, you blocked bada on everything, you were slowly building yourself back up.
bada immediately noticed your absence in class, sighing to herself, trying to convince herself that she made the right choice.
when things started to get serious with you, it scared bada. she had never felt so strongly for someone before, much less another woman and the thought of the matter scared her. the unknown frightened her, especially in a conservative country such as her own.
howl was the conventional choice.
he could provide with things that you couldn’t, that a relationship with you couldn’t and her parents would actually accept this romance.
it’s not like bada wasn’t interested in howl, she did have a good time with him.
he made her laugh, took care of her, they barely fought, he was never jealous about her growing popularity.
howl was perfect, but he wasn’t you.
you. the chaotic girl from dance class who had a temper and never thought before she spoke.
bada found herself frequently checking instagram to see whether she was still blocked. always coming out a bit disappointed.
until one day, she wasn’t.
and she just had to click on your profile. it was purely for scientific purposes…
the newest post intrigued her the most. it was a picture of you and another girl with the caption “it takes time.”
bada noticed that you looked genuinely happy as she scrolled through your instagram for hours on end. she watched all your highlights, scrolled through your tagged posts, even watched your story.
it was a mirror selfie of you in a dance studio.
bada smiled sadly, she thought she may have been the reason that you quit dance forever but it was bittersweet to see that you were back at it.
it meant you were over her.
as she stared at your face, her eyes began to water.
howl was perfect, but you were everything to her.
she didn’t need a conventional life.
all she wanted was you, but it was too late. you’re over her and now she was the one silently begging for you to come back.
Tumblr media
damn…
now that made me sad to write lmao.
but hope y’all enjoyed this lil angsty thing!
lots of love,
j <3

Somebody Else’s Arms : Timeline + Analysis ✍🏻 and a tiny bit of clowning…
Tumblr media
as what the title of this post says, let’s talk about this song and everything that goes with it. i didn’t expect him to actually do something like this but i’m not mad about it. there were already some rumors about it before the release, which personally didn’t come by my weibo feed so as soon as the poster teaser was out, everyone had their own thoughts:
1. It might be related to intercross, because of the water imagery and angsty title.
2. It’s a song he bought and at the time people were pointing to an existing track by cool heads prevail. and others were saying it may just be the same name.
3. some cpfs getting nervous cause it seems to be a breakup song, as if you all didn’t know he and xz love bittersweet songs!
4. connected to #2 cause a cpf station sister commented on this song before we knew anything like she had an idea that this will be performed all along.
Tumblr media
AND NOW THAT THE WE HAVE LISTENED TO IT, it is a completely different one from the track people were referring to. oh well. rumors are rumors.
yibo-official first released the teaser for it at 16:00 which to me relates to the “fact” that 16 is bobo’s favorite number. also the play on words and how they associate with each other is so interesting SEA = somebody else’s arms then using that as an overall theme like deep in the sea. not to be that person — but it’s so xiao zhan.
Tumblr media
then the hair reminded people of his style @ tencent starlight in 2019 with xz. but i have to say, when the douyin video was released, it made more sense because of the 80s vibe he ( along with other yh family stars ) was going for. the clothes and the hair definitely complete the look. i mean come on, he already had the vincent vega hair.
Tumblr media
the similarity in the caption, once again! xzs 🤝 ybo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let’s move on the song itself ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i can only find information on this songwriter, so i guess it’s true that he bought it. the lyrics is actually giving ghost by justin bieber which is a personal fave. it’s like acknowledging you love someone but they are gone now. also it’s interesting that he chose an english song! i’m gonna be a totally delusional fan here and think that this is because he is becoming more and more popular with the international stage so he chose this to connect more.
the choreography is also by his fave Franklin Yu who also did the dance for Rules of My World and Burn It All Down. backed up by Made in V which is a usual group that collaborates with him and XZ. 💚❤️
i think we are all surprised cause it’s in ENGLISH. like i understand if the chorus is, but as a whole. wow.
You're still in my heart
But you're in somebody else arms
You are still in my mind
But you are in somebody else's life
A part of you got left inside my chest
I try and I try to forget
You are still in my heart
But you are in somebody else arms
Memories that we said we made
Memories I can't never let go
How do they torture me the same
Memories that we won't even know
Let me out
Na na na oh My love my love
Na na na oh Let me out
Na na na oh My love my love
A part of you got left inside my chest
I try and I try to forget
You are still in my heart
But you are in somebody else arms somebody else arms
the lyrics are so heartbreaking 💔 and as i said, something we know will appeal to yibo. and as an artist, or any kind of creative i feel like this kind of emotion connects well to the audience. it’s the perfect choice! but that doesn’t mean it don’t hurt!
i know there might be some part of the fandom who will look at this and be like — oh they broke up! “see how sad his face was performing?!” and well.. dude, he is performing this song and singing those lyrics.. what should he do? smile? lol. his dance is an interpretation of it, did you see that bit where he was alone and everyone had partners? In the meantime he was all alone and cradling no one 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
it’s a performance. no matter how much we think everything has a personal connection.
anyway, it’s beautiful. his voice is amazing. i’m just imagining xz totally lovin this song and putting this on repeat! 🎧
and oh, the style of his clothes look like there are XX on it. hahahaha! a CPN fave!
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: this is all the information available at the time of writing. I will post separate ones if ever new information comes out related to this song. 🎶

CAN’T HANDLE THIS. how are you supposed to explain that you and na jaemin started dating just to prove each other wrong and ended up catching feelings.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. strangers to lovers, college! au, matchmaking! au, yet another richkid! au, jaemin is an asshole again, romance, humor. WARNINGS. excessive swearing, a near death experience, drinking and smoking, more than a handful of illegal shit, mentions of vomit, blood, violence, too much sexual tension it’s unhealthy, again jaemin is kind of a dick but he’s an attractive dick, jaemin also likes it when you tell him his personality is trash. WORD COUNT. 16k.
IT TAKES FOUR YEARS TO GROW A PEACH TREE. humans are fickle in nature— it takes a great deal of patience, fortitude, and devotion to have a heart that remains constant. that or having an absolute tolerance for all pain and torment that comes in exchange.
so when you are once again met by the ex-boyfriend that you’ve desperately avoided for four years after tearing up his heart, it becomes a test of how much you can endure, and how much more you’re willing to endure after realizing that you’re still in love with him when his love has already been weathered down.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader GENRE. exes to lovers! au, college! au, romance, angst, fluff, humor, hurt/comfort, SLOW AS FUCK BURN, pining, lots of pushing and pulling, the “its always been you” trope, a modern retelling-ish of jane austen’s persuasion. WARNINGS. swearing, heartbreak, alcohol consumption, parental pressure, stress and anxiety, one scene with a nosebleed, jaemin is kind of a dick in the beginning, mentions of hospitals, one scene with a creep, one makeout scene, ghosting, breakup, a lot of me projecting. WORD COUNT. currently 54k.
ARAW-ARAW. mahiwaga— someone or something that you’ll choose every single day no matter the circumstance. and for you, that was na jaemin. even if time decides to set you apart.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. childhood friends to lovers! au, college! au, romance, slow-ish burn, fluff, humor, tiny angst, biology major jaemin and art major mc HEHE. WARNINGS. excessive swearing, insecurities, some sex jokes LMAO, i project a lot in this i’m sorry JSFJG. WORD COUNT. 14.5k.
US, AGAIN. they say history repeats itself, but you’d like to disagree. you had to disagree. history changes, even if you had to force it. but when all your attempts to twist fate were met by nothing but the flashing recurrences of the past, what were you supposed to do?
or, wherein you try everything in your power to have nothing to do with na jaemin, but na jaemin wants nothing but you.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. college! au, historical! au, soulmate! au, past lives, forbidden love stuff, reincarnation, romance, drama, humor, angst, fluff, looots of flashbacks, this is an entire kdrama, very loosely inspired by the webtoon “see you in my 19th life”. WARNINGS. (updated as the series goes on) character death/s, night terrors, murder, terminal illness, hospital mentions, gun mentions, inaccurate depictions of the joseon era for the sake of plot lmao. WORD COUNT. currently 4.9k.
TOP OF THE WORLD. things had always been the same in the world of na jaemin— him sitting on a throne above everyone else. that was the natural order. but the world as jaemin knew it began to shake after a few fated encounters with someone at the bottom of the food chain.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. private school! au, one sided e2l lmao, a dash of fake dating, romance, heavily suggestive themes, lots and lots of sexual tension and power dynamics. WARNINGS. bullying (lots of it), public humiliation, mildly nsfw, borderline smut, implied smut, swearing, jaemin being a literal asshole. WORD COUNT. 15.6k.
HOSTILITY. making out with the person you hate the most.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. suggestive, stageplay! au. WARNINGS. making out, swearing, reader tells jaem to k himself, reader spits on jaem’s face and he does something…questionable. WORD COUNT. 438.
DO IT AGAIN. maybe you should have paid more attention to your boyfriend. he isn’t always petty, but he has his limits.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. fluff, established relationship! au. WARNINGS. alcohol consumption, kissing. WORD COUNT. 576.
DON’T THINK, JUST DO. an overthinker, a piece of advice, a sudden confession, and a subtle meltdown.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. high school! au, f2l, fluff, humor. WARNINGS. swearing. WORD COUNT. 1.6k.
WHAT BEST FRIENDS DO. drabble game; “i need a hug”.
PAIRING. na jaemin x reader. GENRE. high school! au, maybe secret relationship! au, fluff, light humor. WARNINGS. swearing, mentions of food. WORD COUNT. 988.

Hope Is A Dangerous Thing
Tumblr media
Pair: idol!Mingyu x f!reader
Genre: Good ‘ol, painful breakup
Summary: No one has ever loved you as much as Kim Mingyu does, and you've also always loved him back just as hard. So why wasn’t it enough?
Warnings: pain. Lots of it. Angst.
WC: 2.2k
Note: aaaah! First SVT work to be posted in publicever. The plot is admittedly cliché but i'm a suckerfor thess types of things and for anything sad and angsty. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
He heard the doorbell ring twice in his home, startled at the loud sound against the quiet night he was having just scanning through Instagram. Slowly getting up, Mingyu made his way to the main door to check who his unexpected guest was past midnight. The familiar frame of the girl he loved appearing through the peephole was enough indication and he swung open the big white door right away. But more than the unexpected visit, the look on your face was the bigger surprise.
You had been crying. Red nose, red eyes, tear stained cheeks, and a slightly swollen upper lip. Your small frame semeed to have drowned in a thick grey hoodie to shield you from the cold midnight breeze.
“Hi” you exhaled awkwardly, hands tucked deep into the pocket of your hoodie
“Babe” Mingyu immediately wrapped you in an embrace, concern laced in his voice but he also felt how you tensed up under his touch. “What’s wrong? You didn’t tell me you were coming”
“Yeah I’m sorry” you shakily responded, “can I come in?”
Mingyu found it weird how polite you were being, almost as if you hadn’t spent countless nights in his home. As he welcomed you in the living room, you took a seat on the armchair by the side even when he lead you to the bigger couch where he had been seated. To say he was confused would be an understatement, you were acting like a stranger to him.
“Babe, what’s wrong?” Mingyu prodded, bringing you back to reality as he sat closely across you and held your hands.
You didn’t know what to say and even though you tried to hold it in, another fat tear rolled down your cheek. Your vision blurred in an instant and your hands flew to cover your face as the crying started once again.
At this point, Mingyu was even more concerned. He pulled you in his arms, effortlessly lifting you onto his lap to cradle you as you cried. For once, you let go of all your rational thinking and buried your face into his chest, neither one of you caring that you’d wet his shirt. Your brain was racing a million thoughts an hour but you just wanted to be held close by him a few minutes more. Without knowing what’s going on, the raven haired boy simply held you close to him, his large hand rubbing your back up and down even if it actually just made you cry more.
“Babe...” Mingyu started slowly after a while, a pout now etched on his face “I know you probably don’t want to talk about it, but could you at least tell me what this is about? I’m getting so worried”
You shut your eyes tight, almost praying that Mingyu would think you had fallen asleep and didn’t hear him but even you knew that was impossible. Besides, though you did not want to talk about it, you needed to talk about it. That’s why you came here in the first place.
Inching away from your boyfriend to sit right beside him, your body facing his, you scanned his features: his week-old haircut, the mole on his nose, his chapped lips, the warm brown eyes that looked back at you with so much love and concern, those cheeks you loved to squeeze, and those soft pink lips that felt best against your own. You had taken many mental photos of your sweet boy in all your favourite moments with him, and though you were sure tonight wasn’t going to be a one of them, you still drank in all his little features, commiting every single one to memory.
You reached your hand up to his cheek, the pad of your thumb gently caressing the skin below it before you let out a heavy sigh as you eyes met his.
“You know I love you, right?” Your small voice squeaked with that little accent he was so used to hearing
Reaching up his own hand on his cheek to cover yours, Mingyu nodded and replied with a sad smile “of course I do”
“Then I’m gonna need you to listen to me okay?” You said as Mingyu’s grip on your hand tightened, as if saying yes to her
Swallowing a large lump on your throat, you took a quick glance at him before looking away, “Gyu...” you said in pain, “I need to let you go”
In that moment, Mingyu was pretty sure he felt his whole world stop, like everything just shut down. Literally. It’s like he went deaf yet still clearly heard what you said. He was hoping it was a mere glitch in the system, or that it was a joke, like it was magically April Fool’s day in the midst of September.
You stared back at Mingyu, a deathly silence overtaking the room as you waited for his answer. It took him so long to respond that you debated about repeating it again.
“No” Mingyu didn’t know how long it actually took him to say that, but he replied with enough conviction to make you snap your eyes towards him
“What?”
“No. I said no.” Mingyu repeated. If awhile ago, he thought you were acting like a stranger, this time he was sure of it. Was he just flung into an alternate universe? What the fuck was going on..
“Gyu..” you sighed heavily, “please don’t be like this” you said as another batch of tears started to blur your vision
“Be like what? Fight for our relationship?” He argued this time, he really didn’t want to raise his voice but a point had to be made. “You said you love me right?”
“Babe, please-“
“You said you love me, right?” He asked again, punctuating every word and wanting— no, needing to get a reply from you
“Yeah! I do!” You frustrated
If Mingyu was being honest, he had always feared this day. But if there was one thing Mingyu was good at, it was at staying positive. He always saw the silver lining at everything. Now this also meant that he was very good at being in denial.
“So why are you doing this? People who love each other don’t break up. They stay together, they work things out together! And we..” he looked at you, eyes pleading desperately, “We will do just that”
“Gyu, it’s not as easy as it seems”
“NO ONE SAID IT WOULD BE!” Mingyu finally snapped, “BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE DON’T TRY”
“You think I didn’t try? You think we didn’t try? It’s all we’ve been doing!” You explained, recounting all the efforts you both poured out into the 14 month relationship. “But Gyu, this relationship will never go anywhere when so many people don’t want it in the first place. Your management won’t let you date, there will be fans who won’t agree with it, and my parents.. they don’t want me with you. Everyone is literally coming for us. I can only name two people who actually want us together: Wonwoo and my best friend who’s halfway across the world!”
“My other members would like you…” your boyfriend reasoned out
“Your other members don’t even know about me” you said in a pained voice that brought shame to Mingyu. Had the circumstances been different, he would’ve so loved for his brothers to meet you. He's sure you'd get along well. But he had experienced first hand how catastrophic it got when Jihoon's relationship was found out by management. The rest of them suffered too when it was discovered they had known about it all along and helped keep it a secret. He didn't want to inflict that same fate to his members if his relationship got exposed, so Mingyu always thought it better to just keep it to himself. Wonwoo only ever found out by mere accident.
“Why do we care what others think about our relationship? It’s just between you and I, not you, me, and everyone else”
“I know Gyu” you exhaled, “but truth is, with a job like yours, everyone else will keep intruding no matter what. I wish I didn’t care what they thought, but it kills me that you constantly have to sneak behind the members backs. It also eats me alive that no one in my family wants to talk to me. Yes, I’m happy with you, but I can’t be genuinely happy overall if there are people I’m hurting and-“
“Oh so you’d rather hurt me, is that it?” Mingyu deadpanned, “Cause surely it’s better to satisfy the fans and your family and my management at my cost. Right?”
“MINGYU, NO. It’s not like that. If there was a way that I could make everyone happy, especially you, then I would! But no matter how happy we will be with each other, we’ll still get hurt. We won’t truly be happy if we keep things in secret and keep sneaking away. It’s going to ruin us, Gyu. Your management will keep making it hard for you, my family won’t let you see me, we’ll have trolls hating on us every single day. We can only keep trying but if no one is going to support us, it will all be in vain.” You sobbed as you watched Mingyu’s shoulders slump in defeat, no words left to argue back.
He hated how right you were, how rational you still were despite this overflow of emotions. When your relationship started, you both knew just how many “rules” you were breaking but god, you both were just so in love and smitten with each other that you both just had give it a try. You both latched on to the hope that things would be okay. But hope has always been a dangerous thing, especially when it’s your only weapon in a battle you can’t win.
As you searched for any reaction from the boy in front of you, your most dreaded sight came to life: a tear rolling down Mingyu’s cheek. You immediately wiped it away with your thumb before forcing him to look at you. His eyes were now red and the frown on his face was making itself permanent.
"This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make, Gyu." You cried, "But I don't want it to reach a point where I have to choose between you or my family, or worse, to have you choose between me or your career. You've worked so hard to live your dreams and I'm not going to let you throw it all away for me"
“Is there no other way?” Mingyu sniffed, voice barely above a whisper as both his hands cupped your face
“I wish there was, my love. I wish there was.” You said as you wrapped him in a tight embrace. This time, really holding him tightly knowing it would be the last. “I’m sorry I have to do this but it’s for us. You deserve someone you can proudly show off to the world, Gyu.”
Bullshit, Mingyu thought. You are the girl he should be proudly showing off, if he was just allowed to.
The act of letting Mingyu go was like that of a knife stabbed into your heart only to be twisted a few more times for assurance. You were very much a blubbering mess. “I just hope whoever she is.. sh-she'll love you with allshe's got, a-and won't break your heart like- I am"
Mingyu’s grip around your waist had tightened, if that was even still possible. He buried his face on the crook of you neck and took in all of you, the woman he loved the most, the woman he never wanted to let go of but had to.
“I love you, Gyu. I love you so much” you sobbed hard, body convulsing as you let go of all the pent up feelings
“I love you too baby. I’ll never stop loving you.” Mingyu cried out, your heart breaking into the smallest pieces you knew could never be put back together again
In one quick move, Mingyu attached his lips to yours for the last time, a kiss so sweet yet so sad. You memorised how his lips moved against yours. You wanted to hold on for forever so bad. He was your happiness after all, your safe space, your home.
You both breathlessly pulled apart, tears never ceasing to run down your faces. Wiping your face, you quickly stood up and made your way to the door, wishing so desperately for the pain to be quick and easy.
“Please don’t go” Mingyu’s voice shook in a desperate sob when he caught you by the arm, in a last attempt to keep you by his side. You shut your eyes as your lips trembled. You did not want him to beg like this because it made everything a hundred times more difficult.
“Please baby.... just.. just stay one more night” Mingyu asked, a most desperate frown plastered on his face. With every tear that fell down his cheek, you felt your resolve break more
You turned to face him quickly for one more embrace while he planted a kiss on your forehead. You knew you had to go because staying a second longer would cause you to completely falter. With tears in your eyes, you gave him a tight squeeze and squirmed away from his grip, pushing him back.
“I’m sorry, Gyu” you said painfully, scurrying out his door with the tightest feeling in your chest. If you didn’t just know what you did, you would’ve suspected you were having a heart attack.
Mingyu felt his stomach drop by his feet. He watched his whole world walk away from him and he couldn’t do anything about it. He wanted to run after you, to tell you ‘screw the world, let’s just run away and be alone’ but he knew that was impossible, not when the both of you were at the peak of your respective careers and he especially had the whole world watching his. He knew it had been unfair, and he knew you never would’ve done it unless there was no other way, but he also knew you were right. That it had to be done. But how was he supposed to fall in love with someone else if that someone wasn’t you?

2023 Writing Round Up
Thank you for the tag @heartstringsduet @reasonandfaithinharmony @jesuisici33 @chicgeekgirl89 @thisbuildinghasfeelings @theghostofashton @orchidscript @welcometololaland @ladytessa74 @strandnreyes @reyesstrand @alrightbuckaroo
Rules: Share what you wrote this year! It can be works you posted to Ao3, Wattpad, Tumblr, or anywhere else! You can share everything you wrote or just the ones you're most excited about.
15 fics this year! I have loved writing and sharing every one of them. Thank you to everyone who has read or will at some point. Work is a lot busier these days, so I don’t anticipate writing the same volume in 2024…but we shall see! I just want whatever I share to be good quality, and it’s my New Year’s resolution to keep improving. I love Tarlos. I love writing Tarlos fic. I love this fandom.
January
The Ruins of Wonderland – a reimagining of TK and Carlos getting back together after their breakup. I posted this on New Year’s Day, resolving to start 2023 off on the right fanfic foot.
Chasers – A coda for 3x13. TK talks to Cooper about his past, while Carlos goes for a swim and thinks about his own. When Carlos gets home, he and TK have an important chat. The rection to this fic spurred me on to continue writing in the flashback/vignette/timeline format.
February
Man to Man – A coda for 2x11 and 2x12, which also looks at Carlos coming out to his parents and where he is now with it all.
March
Afterglow of a Supernova – When fiancés TK and Carlos help Carlos’ high school crush and his wife during a call, they end up having a dinner with them that leads to jealousy in an unexpected way. The feedback I’ve had on this fic sent me to the moon on rainbows.
April
The Heart Behind the Shield – My first chaptered fic! I'd been wanting to write a 2x08 coda, but it was 4x04 that made it possible. This combines events from both episodes where there’s duality, and was an absolute blast to write and post.
The Light of Our Life – Listen, I wrote this during an extended lunch break and posted it the same day. For somehow it’s my fifth most kudos’d fic of the year…Thank you!!! We were all deep in our Lou II feelings at this time. Never forget.
Fire Island – TK and Carlos travel to Fire Island, where an older gay couple talks to them about their experience of the AIDS crisis in 1980s New York. This fic by far had the most emotional impact on me while writing it, and based on feedback it seems to be the same for readers(?) People have shared personal stories and memories with me since I posted this, and I just want to say I’m truly grateful for the response, given I wrote it in January but didn’t feel brave enough to post it for a few months.
May
With Infinity Folded Into It – Written for the @tarlosweeklyprompts Countdown to the Wedding event (prompt was: Love). After TK proposes, Carlos remembers the first time they said “I love you.” It’s fluff, it’s smut, it’s kinda angsty because Carlos is trying to bake and baking is stressful.
The Center of the Maze – Another written for Tarlos Weekly Prompts Countdown to the Wedding. (Prompt: "I Never Thought I Would Get This Day".) I thought this was going to be a 2k one-shot; it turned into 20k split into 4 chapters… Seven times they thought they would never get married, and one time when they actually did. I was super inspired and happy with the writing in this one.
June into July
When Soulmates Swim – The closest I’ll ever come to writing a sports AU (….or is it?👀…) Sparks and splashes fly when TK and Carlos each take up swimming while they recover from workplace injuries. I really pushed myself with smut and humour in this fic and the feedback I’ve had has been incredible. One of the most enjoyable writing experiences I’ve ever had, this fic holds a special place in heart.
Release The Hand to Relax the Animal – TK and Carlos explore the world of tantric massage in their own way. Written because Rafael Silva has madly attractive hands, and @heartstringsduet and I thought we should celebrate. You can read Michelle’s hands fic, Take My Hand, Take My Whole Life, Too, here. It is BEAUTIFUL.
(Nothing in August)
September
Sweet Dreams and Flying Machines – A 3x08 coda, which also gets into TK and Carlos’ childhood memories of 9/11, and the way that event went on to impact their lives (to the point where it set them on the path to meeting each other). It recieved the most amazing comments, with people sharing their memories of 9/11, so like Fire Island this fic feels deeper to me in a social way.
October
Suddenly in the Silence – I’d ‘joked’ about the show giving us Ghost Gabriel in season 5, but a conversation with thisbuildinghasfeelings led me to explore that concept myself. In this fic, it’s up to the reader to decide whether they think the spirit of Gabriel is around, which made writing it challenging but a lot of fun. It’s so interesting to see what side people fall on!
November
Where All This Love Comes From – This is my Tarlos novel at ~90k words, due to finish posting in February. I began writing it in March, when a hefty amount of plot relied on Gabriel being alive after season 4. Substantial rewrites happened after May, which was pretty gutting at the time, but ultimately I think this has ended up being the best thing I’ve written so far in my life.
December
There is a smutty one-shot coming with a scream very soon…And I hope you like it!
I'm not sure who has already done this - tagging with no pressure if you want to share/haven't already - and open tag!
@cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut @goodways @lemonlyman-dotcom @paperstorm @wandering-night19 @heartstringsduet @im-overstimulated-and-im-sad @rmd-writes @rosedavid @chaotictarlos @lightningboltreader @taralaurel @three-drink-amy @redshirt2 @noxsoulmate @sanjuwrites @bonheur-cafe @liminalmemories21

Can you please please please do more headcanons? I’m obsessed
Hi! Sorry if you don’t like angst because this is going to be a dump of my angsty PipRavi headcanons!!!
Hope you enjoy it and sorry again for the pain I’m about to cause.
Angsty PipRavi headcanons
TW: depression, implied suicidal thoughts, use of drugs
Ravi cried himself to sleep each night after Pip and him broke up while Pip overworked herself so that she fell asleep the moment she hit the pillow from exhaustion.
On most days, Pip’s strategy doesn’t work and she stays up all night reliving everything that happened.
When Pip hugged Ravi after Stanley’s death, it was the first time Ravi’s presence failed to comfort her -definitely not the last too- and it scared Pip so much.
Ravi almost caved into the urge to fuck up their plan and call Pip many times, but he managed to control himself.
Though Pip had promised Ravi that she would stop taking any drugs/sleeping pills, she still takes some on her hardest times.
Pip often imagines the worst case scenario happening and thinks that if it happens then there’s no point in living anymore. Her life would technically end so why not actually end it.
The first few weeks of their breakup, Ravi could barely leave his room, eat or do anything. He lost so much weight and he looked physically older from how burdened and exhausted he had been.
Cara definitely had to hold and comfort a weeping Ravi countless of times. (And so did Connor and the rest of the squad, but it was mostly Cara.)
Pip and Ravi definitely looked at old pictures and videos of each other when they needed comfort the most.
Ravi never left Pip because she would talk to him every single day in her head. And yeah it wasn’t healthy or normal, but Pip knows she hasn’t been normal for a long long time.
Pip has many different nightmares, but the worst ones are the ones where DT kills her.
Sometimes she wished he had.
Ravi would definitely avoid Pip’s family (to make the plan more sensible) and each time he notices Josh looking at him when they encounter each other in town he turns around and it breaks him every single time.
Pip and Ravi had accidentally called someone else (could be a classmate or a coworker or anyone really) by each other’s name at least once.
Ravi’s parents, at first, always asked about Pip and Ravi would answer vaguely or shrug it off until one time he snapped at them and they stopped asking. (He apologized later of course, but Nisha and Mohan wanted to respect their son’s privacy.)
I have mentioned this before in a different post, but Pip would definitely buy the same perfume Ravi uses and wear it or use it to feel like he’s there with her.
Even after they get back together, Pip still struggles with morality and understanding the gray area which makes her feel unworthy of love and happiness, leading to many self-sabotage caused fights.
That night will always haunts Ravi, especially the fact that he had come so close to losing Pip forever.
Pip would silently watch Ravi’s and her friends’ social media updates and mourn all the time she lost and all the happiness she missed.
Even when she gets a therapist, Pip still at times feels like she’ll never be put back together.
“I will always be a shell of who I used to be, Ravi. Never the Pip you love. Just an illusion of who she is.”
“Then let me love this new Pip. The one you call a shell. Let me love her. You should’ve realized it by now, but I won’t let you go ever again.”

Broken Hearts and Laser Guns (Yondu x Reader)
A/N: This is one of several completed Yondu fics I wrote a few years ago and found sitting forgotten in a folder on my laptop a couple of months back, and I'm slowly making my way through them to get them all posted eventually. I'm not going to do much editing (just a glance-through to find glaring typos), and I feel like my writing has improved since then, but hopefully they'll be enjoyed. :)
Summary: Reader gets their heart broken and Yondu offers some advice.
Warnings: I don't think there are any, but if I've missed one, just let me know. It's a bit angsty due to a breakup, but nothing too intense.
You peeked your head around the door frame of one of the lounges in the Avengers compound, making sure no one was inside. Breathing a sigh of relief when you confirmed that it was indeed empty, you walked inside and collapsed on one of the couches, scrubbing your face with your hands.
You wanted nothing more than to go to your room, lock the door, and cry in private, but that was out of the question. You still had work to do and you didn’t want to let the rest of the team down just because you were heartbroken. You’d take a quick break to pull yourself together, and then try to focus on work for the rest of the day.
Dating someone who also worked in the compound had seemed like a good idea in the beginning, but after the breakup you quickly realized why it was, in fact, a terrible idea. You wished you could avoid your partner – well, ex-partner – completely, but knew you’d bump into them sooner or later. Sooner, with your luck.
You looked up toward the ceiling, doing your best to keep the tears from streaking down your cheeks. All you needed was for someone to find you crying in the lounge. The Avengers compound held a modicum of professionalism, but news about breakups and broken hearts traveled fast, and you really didn’t want to have to deal with any useless, however well-meant, sympathy from your co-workers.
You heard footsteps coming down the hallway and quickly brushed a couple of lingering teardrops from your bottom lashes, hoping that whoever it was didn’t come into the lounge.
A man strode past, glanced inside, then took a step back so he could lean against the door frame, a look of concern on his blue face. “Somethin’ wrong, Y/N?”
You shook your head and tried to muster a smile. “I’m fine, Yondu, thanks. What are you doing here?”
Yondu pushed away from the door frame with his shoulder, then joined you on the couch. “Me an’ Kraglin are gonna help out with a mission. Tha Avengers needed somebody who could get into some shady space ports, an’, well…”
He shrugged, flashing you a quick grin, and you gave him a small smile in return.
“Well, it’s good to see you.”
“You, too. But ya ain’t foolin’ me by sayin’ yer fine.” He nudged you with his arm. “Out with it.”
You sighed. You couldn’t say that you and Yondu were particularly close, but you’d spent time with him occasionally in the past when he and the other Guardians would show up at the compound for one reason or another.
And you had to admit, talking to someone who wouldn’t judge you sounded nice.
You took a steadying breath then said, “I got dumped today.”
You tried to brush it off with a shrug, but you felt your chin wobble and knew you weren’t going to make it through this conversation without crying. You avoided looking at Yondu’s face, and instead studied your boots, which were intensely interesting all of a sudden.
“Ah, damn. Hate ta hear that, Y/N. Their loss, though.”
You huffed a sardonic laugh. “Yeah, sure.”
“I mean it.”
You shook your head, still avoiding looking in his direction. “I just don’t understand what happened. I thought we were fine, you know?”
Your traitorous eyes began to leak again and you angrily brushed the tears away.
“Yeah, that always makes it harder, when it seems ta come outta nowhere.”
You gave a small nod, now focusing on your hands. You didn’t trust yourself to speak, and Yondu seemed to understand.
“Gotta say, I ain’t been dumped in a while, but that’s only ‘cause I ain’t been in a relationship in a while. Reckon I remember how bad it hurts, though.”
“It does.”
“Feels like tha world’s endin’ when ya lose someone.”
You nodded again, brushing another tear away.
“’Specially when ya don’t know what happened.”
“I just… don’t understand.” Something shifted and you couldn’t hold your tears in any longer. “What did I do wrong?”
“Sure ya didn’t do nothin’ wrong.”
“Then why?” Your voice broke on a sob and you finally met his eyes. “Why wasn’t I good enough, Yondu?”
You began to cry in earnest, leaning forward and resting your face in your hands. You tensed up for a moment when Yondu draped an arm over your shoulder and pulled you to his side, then relaxed against him, giving in to the tears.
“Listen ta me, Y/N. Yer good enough, ya hear me? If they couldn’t see that, then that’s on them. Sometimes folks jus’ ain’t meant ta be together. Don’t mean somebody ain’t good enough, just means ya ain’t tha right fit.”
You cried harder. “But I thought we fit! I thought we were fine!”
“I ain’t gonna tell ya not ta cry. Cryin’s good fer ya, so ya do it as long as ya need to. But I am gonna tell ya that ya need ta get the ‘good enough’ thoughts outta yer head. They ain’t true an’ they won’t do no good.”
You were crying too hard to form a reply, so you nodded. You knew he was right, but it still hurt and you couldn’t help the feelings of not being good enough. Why else would someone break up a seemingly good relationship?
“An’ as fer fittin’ an’ bein’ fine, maybe y’all did fit at first, an’ then maybe things changed fer ‘em. Life gets in tha way of these things, changes people, ain’t got nothin’ ta do with you. Ya need ta let ‘em go, let ‘em do what they need ta do. Tryin’ ta hang onto these things never works. Won’t make ya happy.”
You tried to catch your breath as you continued to cry, and hoped you wouldn’t start to hyperventilate. That was all you needed to make things even more embarrassing.
“I… I know. But it just… just hurts so much.”
“I know it does, darlin’. Just gotta let it hurt. Gotta get through it. One day yer gonna wake up and be okay, though.”
You gave an unbelieving huff as you tried to stem your tears.
“Yeah, didn’t think ya’d believe me, but it’s true. Ya listen ta ol’ Yondu. He knows what he’s talkin’ about.”
You sat up and lifted your head to look at him, wiping more tears away and wishing you had a tissue. “When did you get so wise, Captain?”
He grinned. “Always been wise. Don’t know why ya ain’t realized it before now.”
You hiccuped a laugh and used your sleeve to dry your eyes, even as a few more tears trickled down your cheek. “You’ve been hiding all that Ravager knowledge, I guess.”
“Guess so.”
“Ugh, I wish I had a tissue.” You knew your eyes were red and swollen so there would be no hiding this crying session when you finally left the lounge, but you at least wanted your face to be dry when you met up with your teammates.
“Oh, here.” Yondu removed his arm from around you and reached into an inside pocket of his duster, pulling out a grimy handkerchief and handing it to you.
You took it from him and gave a small laugh through the last of your tears. “It’s… dirty.”
“Yeah, well, I’m a Ravager. Might be good with advice about a broken heart, but I ain’t ever got a clean handkerchief.”
You laughed again, a little louder, as you handed it back to him, then dabbed your eyes gently with the sleeve pulled up over your hand. “Thanks, but I’ll just keep using my sleeves.”
“Suit yerself.” He grinned as he stuck the dirty handkerchief back inside his pocket. “Listen, I got an idea. We’re gonna go blow off some steam.”
You shook your head. “I can’t. I have to get back to work.”
“Come on, Y/N, when’s tha last time ya took off?”
You thought for a minute and realized it had been months since you’d taken a day off. “It’s been a while,” you admitted.
“They can get along without ya fer one afternoon. Tell ‘em yer sick an’ let’s go.”
“I can’t just lie and say I’m sick! They’ll have me in the sick bay within the hour.”
“Ain’t a lie! Yer heartsick, an’ they can’t put ya in tha sick bay if ya ain’t here. Come on, send ‘em a comm.”
You bit your lip, considering your options. “Fine.”
His grin widened as he watched you pull out your phone and send a quick email to your supervisor. It was true, they could do without you for one afternoon. There weren’t any pressing matters to attend to, and it was Friday, after all.
You slipped your phone back into your pocket. “Done. So where are we going?”
Yondu stood and held out a hand to help you up. “It’s a surprise.”
“I don’t really like the sound of that.”
“C’mon, trust me.”
Even though you knew you probably shouldn’t, you did.
You followed him outside to the airspace, but stopped walking when you realized he was heading towards his ship.
He noticed you were no longer beside him and turned back to you. “What’s wrong?”
“Are we leaving Earth?”
“Yep.”
“I can’t just leave the planet.”
“Who says?”
Realizing there was literally no one who could stop you from leaving the planet – something that you thought might have been an oversight that someone should have already considered – you shrugged and caught up with him.
A few minutes later, you were sitting next to Yondu in the co-pilot’s chair of the Eclector. You’d never been in space before and could hardly believe you were here now.
“So where are we going?””
“Told ya, it’s a surprise.”
“Leaving the planet isn’t enough of a surprise?”
“Nope.”
An hour later, Yondu set the ship expertly down in a landing field full of other ships, and the two of you stepped out into a brightly lit town. Apart from the fact that the buildings were definitely not constructed by anyone from Earth, it almost felt like a bustling city back home.
You followed Yondu to a small building, painted in vivid colors, and walked inside as he held the door for you. It took a moment for your eyes to adjust to the dimly-lit room, a contrast from all the brightness outside, and then you quickly caught up to Yondu as he strode to a counter on the other side of the room.
“Two, please.”
The man behind the counter, who had three eyes and whose skin was tinted a light purple, said, “Yes, sir. Will you require laser guns, or do you have your own?”
“Go ahead an’ give us a couple,” he said, sliding some credits across the counter.
The man nodded, reached under the counter and pulled out two laser guns, which he handed to Yondu. “You can go on in,” he said, indicating a door on the right. “The session isn’t full yet.”
“Thanks.”
Yondu handed one of the laser guns to you. “Ya ready?”
“For what?”
“Fer a laser gun battle.”
“Is this… is this like laser tag on Earth?”
“Yeah, somethin’ like that. General concept is tha same.”
“The general concept?”
“Yep.”
You stopped at the door. “Don’t we get the little vests with the targets?”
“Don’t need vests. We’re tha targets.”
“But how do we know who wins?”
“Whoever’s still standin’ at tha end.”
You looked at your laser gun in horror and spluttered, “Yondu, are these real laser guns?”
“’Course they are! Can’t protect yerself with fake ones.”
“Are you trying to get me killed? Because I guess that is a good way to make me forget about my broken heart.”
Yondu laughed. “Nah, we ain’t gonna die. I’ve seen ya at target practice, yer a natural. We ain’t got nothin’ ta worry ‘bout.”
“Yondu!”
“Ya really don’t wanna have a laser battle?”
“Not when the losers die!”
He grinned. “Fine. Then how ‘bout ice cream?”
You were speechless for a moment as you tried to comprehend his sudden shift from death in a laser gun battle to ice cream. “Ice cream sounds much… safer.”
“Then ice cream it is. I know this place over on -”
You raised a hand to stop him. “Can we please get ice cream back on Earth?”
He laughed. “You got it, darlin’.” Turning back to the man behind the counter, he asked, “Reckon we can get a refund on these guns?”

“I was never a morning person, but then I started waking up to your face and you know… Maybe mornings aren’t that bad, after all.”
“Why are you mad?” “I’m not mad, I just think you can choose better people to kiss.”
“I fucking hate you.” “No you don’t. Take that back right now.”
“You know I’d do anything to have you stay by my side, right? Anything.”
“Oh, fuck. Do that again.”
“You look stupid as all hell right now.”
“I want to believe you, but I don’t know if I can.”
“You’ve given me so many reasons to walk away.” “Then why don’t you walk away? It’s not like I’m keeping you hostage here.” “You still don’t get it, do you? It’s because I love you.”
“…Damn it all to hell, if I don’t get to have you tonight then I’m never going to be able to have you.”
“Let me call you mine, just for tonight.”
“I think you and I make an amazingly stupid pair.” “I know! Our two brain cells combined together make for quality entertainment and a unique kind of stupidity.”
“I’m going to have so much fun with you.”
“Oh God, yes, right there— oh my God, just like that, please don’t stop.” “…Can you stop that? You’re making it sound like we’re in a porno and now I’m getting kinda hard.”
“Bet you they don’t make you sound like that, do they?”
“Fuck, you’re such a wreck, and because of me, too.”
“Can you stop moaning? I’m trying to help you relax but you’re making it hard for me to concentrate.” “Sorry, your hands just work a little too good.” “I’m going to pay for a masseuse next time if you keep doing this.”
“You are driving me insane and I’m this close to losing my shit because of you.”
“Is hating me your only personality trait?”
“Never scare me like that again!”
“Oh, don’t worry. I have every plan to make you submit to me.”
“I’m not even gonna lie, I’m just so fucking obsessed with you.”
“That could be us.” “That is us.”
“Was it worth it?”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got you— slow down, you’ll get what you want soon enough.”
“I want you to remember every single second of this.”
“Bet you they can’t make you feel the way I do.” “Bet’s on.” “Wait, what? That was not my intention—”
“Hm, but I think I like having you spread out like this. Such a gorgeous sight.”
“Come and get your fix.”
“…You’re an addiction I never want to quit.”
“I had nothing to live for, but then you came into my life. So thank you.”
“Why’d you— why’d you do that?” “B-Because I promised you I’d do anything to keep you safe.”
“I swear if we get caught then I’m actually going to kill you.”
“You think I wanted this to happen?!”
“Just when I was about to give up…”
“I trusted you with my life.” “Well, I’m sorry but you’re clearly very gullible.”
“Look me in the eyes and tell me you don’t feel the same as I do, then I’ll leave you alone.”
“You know, maybe you should bet on something else the next time instead of betting on someone’s fucking feelings.”
“You’re such a dork.” “Yeah, no wonder you’re so in love with me.”
“Does me doing all these things not account for anything?” “I never asked you to do those things for me, though, did I?”
“You nearly foiled our plan, you idiot!”
“I… I think I’m happy.” “You think? So you’re not one hundred percent certain?”
“Who’s laughing now?” “…Clearly not you. You’re crying, dear God.”
“I’m tired of being on the sidelines.”
“You actually came back.”
“Christ on a fucking bike, I could kiss you right now.”
“That was a bold move.”
“We’re going to be late, all because you couldn’t stop scrolling through that damn phone of yours while taking your damn sweet time to shit!”
"What are we?" "Probably stupid."
"You could punch me in the face and I'd still want you, not gonna lie."
"They just gave you the key to my house?" "Well no.. I asked for it!"
"You can kiss me, you know?"
"Will you just stay still?" "What, why?" "I'm trying to hold your hand, you idiot!"
"Hey, you haven't come out of your room in like two days...I'm not worried or anything but the dishes are piling up and i need you to be alive so you can take care of them, so..."

All in the Past 3/3
Tumblr media
FINALLY! I've gotten to the ONE scene request that inspired it all. @angelasscribbles asked for this classic scene from Grey's Anatomy for Tobias and Casey. Heaven forbid I should have left it simple lol I decided to make this a follow-up and alternate ending to one of my favorite short, angsty AUs, Unblemished, because we needed more angst. And here, is the conclusion.

Tobias is in town to attend his friend and one-time love's wedding with his new girlfriend on his arm. It's just the wedding of an old friend, or is it?
Part 3 Summary: Casey and Tobias's talk in the wee hours on the morning of her wedding has rippling effects on the couple and their partners. Where do they end up?

“Hello, Tobias...” Casey whispered. “I’m glad I found you.”
“What are you doing here?” He asked, attempting to make out the time on his watch through bleary eyes. But Casey shook her head in disapproval.
“The time is irrelevant. I’m clearly not going to sleep on the eve of my wedding. Fortunately, I hired one of the best makeup artists around. He’ll know how to make me look awake.”
“Why can’t you sleep?”
Casey motioned toward the bottle of Scotch, and Tobias diligently handed it to her. She took a swig directly from the bottle and plopped down in the chair next to his.
“Nerves? Overstimulation? Too many relatives, not enough friends? Realizing what I’m about to do?”
“Are you having second thoughts?”
“I’m having thoughts,” she chuckled. “I don’t know if they’re of the second variety.”
She turned to Tobias, the way the moonlight illuminated his features took her back to another time. It felt so close she thought she could touch it.
“It’s funny, isn’t it? You and me standing here... on my wedding day?”
“Yeah, funny,” he sighed. “Then again, it makes sense. We’ve been through a lot together.”
“We sure have,” she smiled. “Tobias,” she asked tentatively, “are you happy?”
“What?”
“Someone asked me if I was happy earlier, and now... I’m asking you.”
“Case, you’re the one getting married in fifteen hours. Shouldn’t we be concentrating on you?”
“I’m trying to distract myself, Carrick,” she smiled. “Can you humor me?”
Tobias couldn’t contain a grin. Did she think he had the strength to deny her anything when she smiled at him like that? Even so, he struggled to offer an answer.
“Define happy?” He shrugged, taking another long sip.
“You know what happy is. I’ve seen you happy.”
“Yeah, well, maybe I was too stupid to realize what happiness was until it was too late.”
“Is it ever too late?” She asked.
“Yeah,” he sighed. “Sometimes it is.”
Casey gazed at the stars, crickets chirping in the distance, the only sound between them. There was so much she wanted to say, yet nothing felt right. But Tobias was right; eventually, it would be too late, and she couldn’t pass up this chance.
“You’ve had three girlfriends since we broke up. Imani, Mandy, and now Meghan. Right?”
“Yeah?” He asked with a raised brow.
“I was your friend before... so I know. You never had girlfriends before me. There were plenty of... women... but they never rose to that level. I guess I stupidly assumed you’d go back to that after we broke up. I naively let myself believe I was so special that no one else could ever take that place in your life.”
Her face crumpled in embarrassment, and she lowered her face into her hands to hide.
“I sound so fucking full of myself,” she groaned. “I didn’t mean it that way.”
“I didn’t take it that way,” he assured her, gently removing her hands from her face. The tenderness of his touch bringing a warmth she hadn’t felt in some time. “You were special, Casey. You are special. I didn’t think I’d ever play the relationship game again, either. But... I guess you showed me there’s something to it after all. Maybe it’s not such a bad place to be.”
Casey barked a bitter laugh.
“Well, isn’t that delightful!” She snapped. “How nice of me to teach you! Isn’t it something... you want that life now... after you broke my heart because you said it was something you couldn’t offer.”
“That’s not fair! I never said I didn’t want to be with you! We talked for months and came to a painful decision together. You know I was fine with a relationship; we split because you wanted marriage and children, and I didn’t. And it worked out, right? You’re getting what you wanted?”
“Am I?”
“Yeah. Why am I here? For your big, beautiful wedding... you’ve got the white gown, the string quartet, the miracle worker cosmetician... wasn’t that the dream?”
“That’s what you thought I wanted? Some stupid wedding. This is my mother’s fantasy, not mine! And it wasn’t when I was with you. I wanted to know that the person I loved more than anything would consider marrying me. It was never about some stupid wedding. Not then, and not now!”
“Well,” he smiled. “I think it’s too late for you to elope now.”
She wanted to be mad at him. She wanted to tell him off. But once again, he only made her smile.
“I’ll say,” she chuckled.
“You know, you mentioned the girlfriends I’ve had since... us... Maybe I should mention your sole boyfriend.”
“Craig? What about him?
Tobias rubbed his hand over his head, taking a moment to compose himself.
“The night you called to tell me about him, I was devastated. I was convinced that I never really mattered to you... not if I was replaced so easily.”
“Tobias,” she gasped. “It wasn’t like that. It wasn’t like that at all! You don’t know where I was. Remember I said this place would never be home? Well, I was right. I was here with no friends or family... heartbroken over losing you! I never felt so alone. I was... broken. Everyone told me to get out there, make new friends, date other people... it was the only way to heal. But for all the talk of southern hospitality, I didn’t find it here. Then, I met this new surgeon. He was kind, funny... and he was crazy about me. For the first time in so long, I didn’t feel alone anymore. He never wavered in his feelings for me and was so confident about what he wanted... a future... with me in it. And that was so refreshing after...”
“After me....” Tobias mumbled.
“Yeah. After you,” Casey asserted. “We had this amazing love, Tobias. I never thought something so precious could end... it meant everything to me. So, when you told me it wasn’t enough....”
“Hey!” He shot back. “I never said it wasn’t enough! I never said I didn’t want forever with you. I just...”
“... didn’t want in it enough to sign on the dotted line.”
“And now you have someone who will. You can say whatever you want, but never say you weren’t everything to me. No one ever has, and no one ever will come close to being what you were to me. Now, I just have to learn to live with the regret of letting you go.”
“What?” she gasped. “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying letting you out of my life was a mistake. The biggest mistake I’ve ever made.”
“Wha... when did you realize this?”
“From the start, I was just too stupid to admit it. But the night you called me to tell me about Craig... it hit me like a ton of bricks.”
“Then why... why didn’t you say anything?”
“What could I say? You sounded so happy. I had already hurt you enough and had no right to do it again. And I never imagined he’d be the one. So I kept waiting for you to tell me you broke up, then I would have no reason not to tell you...”
“To tell me? Tell me what?”
That I loved you. I never stopped. I couldn’t if I tried... and God knows, I’ve tried. I would have moved heaven and earth for a second chance with you. I needed you as much as I needed the air I breathed, and living without you wasn’t living at all. That you took my heart when I let you go, and without you, I’d never have it back...and I still want you now...
The words played repeatedly in his mind, but overclouded by one thought, they never made it to his. Today’s her wedding day. He took a deep breath and turned to her with a pained smile.
“Does it matter now? It was a long time ago, and... It’s your wedding day, Casey. I threw away my chance.”
She turned away, surreptitiously wiping a tear from her eye.
“We should have talked more back then. We said so much, yet we said nothing at all.”
“Casey,” he whispered as he held her hand. “You’ve spent two years building a new life with Craig, and you can’t throw that all away. You have brought me more joy than I deserved, and I’m a better man today because of you. I have no doubt that my life is immeasurably richer because you were in it. But,” he lifted her hand and traced her engagement ring with his thumb. “You’re not mine anymore. Craig loves you and will give you the life you want, the one I foolishly didn’t promise. So, when you walk down that aisle today... I need you to know it’s with my blessing... but it won’t be with my presence. You’ve found everything you wanted, and that’s all I’ve wanted for you. But now that you know how I feel... I hope you’ll forgive me, but I can’t watch you pledge your life to someone else.”
Casey dropped his hand, fear growing in her eyes as the meaning of his words dawned on her.
“You’re letting me go,” she sobbed. “Youre really letting me go?”
“You’re marrying Craig. I have to.”
“But you’ll still be my friend, right?” she whimpered. “You still be my friend... after today?”
“Do you think that’s a good idea, Case? Or deep down, do you know... maybe we both need to let go... for good. How can we start new lives if we still have one foot in the past.”
“I can’t imagine my life without you in,” she cried.
“You’re going to have a beautiful life, hon,” he whispered. “And one day, I’ll just be a distant memory that makes you smile. Come on,” he said, squeezing her hand. “This is a big day. Concentrate on your happy beginnings... not on what’s already lost.”
 He placed a lingering kiss on her forehead and decided to bargain with God one last time, only to be let down again, for time failed to stand still. Casey stepped back and gazed into his eyes one last time.
“Promise me you won’t forget me?” she said with a quivering voice.
“How could I? You will always be my favorite... what if?”
Casey’s lips parted slightly. There was so much more to say, maybe too much. The weight became overwhelming, and when words couldn’t be found, she turned and rushed away, leaving Tobias standing alone in the moonlight, just as she had in Boston two years before.
~~~~~
The alcohol served some purpose, or maybe it was emotional exhaustion. Either way, Tobias managed to get a few hours of sleep. When the alarm went off much too early, he wondered if it had all been a dream. But it wasn’t, and he knew what he had to do.
“Hey, Meg,” he said, nudging his companion awake. “Can you get up? We need to talk.”
~~~~~
Casey rolled her eyes as she sat in the makeup chair with rollers piled high on her head.
“Everything OK there,” Sienna smiled as she handed her friend a large cup of coffee.
“Could my mother be any more chipper? I don’t want to be arrested for homicide on my wedding day, but if she comes in here gushing over how beautiful I am when I still look like,” she motioned toward the mirror, "this! I won’t be responsible for my actions.”
Sienna placed a reassuring hand on her friend's shoulder and gave her a placid smile. She didn’t have to say the words for Casey to hear them.
“I know,” Casey smirked. “You’re thinking an arrest for homicide might not be the worst thing that could happen today.”
“Hey! I promised you one maid of honor-slash-best friend who would stand by your side today, no matter what you decided, and I’m delivering.”
“Even if homicide is on the menu?”
“I’m your ride or die,” Sienna grinned.
“You sure are,” Casey said, squeezing Sienna’s hand.
The room turned quiet as Sienna went to the closet and took out the garment bag containing Casey’s gown. She was about to unzip it when Casey’s words stopped her in her tracks.
“I saw Tobias last night,” she whispered.
Sienna turned around, her eyes wide. “And?” She asked, rushing to her friend's side.
“Relax,” Casey smiled. “We didn’t sleep together... there’s no chance that I’m having his child or anything.”
“Gee,” Sienna simpered. “That’s a shame. Now, seriously... what happened?”
“He loves me. He never stopped. He said letting me go was the biggest mistake of his life and....”
“And?”
Casey pursed her lips together and fought back a sob. “And he’s skipping the wedding. He said it would be too hard to watch, and he won’t be around anymore. He believes we can’t move on if we don’t really let go, so last night was probably the last time I’ll ever see him.”
“Casey,” Sienna gasped. “I’m so sorry!”
“It’s OK,” She smiled through tears. “He’s not wrong. Being friends was just an excuse to remain in each other's lives. We always wanted more; we just lied to ourselves.”
“Case... now that you know he loves you, and you love him....”
“Si. He made it clear. We’re all in the past now. And, as much as this hurts, it’s probably for the best. I want my marriage to work. So I have to give it my all. I just wish my wedding anniversary and the day I lost the love of my life didn’t have to be the same day.”
“I know you think you’re doing something noble,” Sienna started. “Of course, Craig will be hurt if you call off the wedding, but doesn’t he deserve a wife who's not crying about losing another man on the morning of their wedding day? What I’m saying is... in the long run....”
“I do love Craig,” Casey interrupted. “It’s a different kind of love, but it’s still love, and I know we can build a happy life together. Besides, my parents would kill after all the money they shelled out. So,” she said, looking at her phone. “The makeup guy just texted. Can you let him in the front door? It’s showtime.”
~~~~~
Meghan shot a look at Tobias as she shut her suitcase and zipped it closed. It would be easier to be upset with him if he didn’t look so forlorn.
“I’m really sorry,” he said for the umpteenth time.
“I know,” she half smiled. “Please don’t have to say it again. I meant what I said. I appreciate your honesty and, if I’m being honest... I was thinking of dumping you when we got back to Boston.”
“You were,” he chuckled. “You’re not just saying that to make me feel better, are you?”
“Nope. The writing was on the wall, Tobias. You’re in love with someone else, and I want someone who can’t imagine thinking of anyone but me.”
Tobias smiled when Megan reached for his hand. “You know you’re too good for me, right?”
“Oh,” she cackled. “You better believe it.”
The front desk called to let her know her taxi was arriving in ten minutes.
“Well, that’s my ride,” she sighed. “You know, at this point, I’d normally say after you do the work and get over her, call me. If I’m still available, maybe I’d give you a chance because you are a really good guy. But I’m not going to say that.”
“You’re not,” He chuckled.
“Nope. Because you’re not going to get over her. When it’s real, it’s real. And the last thing I will say is... she’s not married yet, Tobias.”
“Someone’s going to be lucky to have you.”
“Oh, I know,” she smirked. “I already matched with some guy on Tinder. I think you know him.”
“Who?”
“Dr. Ramsey,” she winked. “I kid, I kid... but maybe not. He’s kind of cute.”
“Get out of here,” Tobias smiled as Meghan shut the door, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
~~~~~
The hushed sound of guests’ conversations could be heard over the soft music being played on the piano on the other side of the door. Despite a strong case of nerves, Casey smiled brightly as Sienna fluffed her veil and gave her a final once-over. The bridesmaids had already begun walking down the aisle when Casey’s father walked over and handed his daughter her bridal bouquet.
“Well, this is it, sweetheart,” he beamed.
“This is it!” Casey grinned.
“Last chance,” Sienna smiled ruefully. “Are your head and your heart all in?”
“They’re in,” Casey nodded. “Don’t you know, they always follow each other.”
“Oh, that’s not true,” her father said as he took her arm.
“What do you mean, Dad?”
“People always debate what’s stronger, the heart or the mind.  But the heart will always be the victor. The head can talk all it desires, but the heart will want it wants.” He kissed his daughter’s cheek before placing the veil over her face. “Always follow your heart, sweetheart. Trust me.”
Sienna and Casey locked eyes just as the doors opened, announcing the bride's arrival.
Craig’s eyes were on Casey the instant the door opened, and his look of utter joy left her riddled with guilt. Casey smiled back but quickly turned her head toward her guests, taking in the faces of people who had meant so much to her throughout her life as she approached the altar. Between smiles and nods, her eyes roamed the room fruitlessly.   Selfishly, she hoped Tobias had changed his mind, even if it was only to see him one last time. But as her foot stepped to its final destination, she knew. He stayed true to his word. He wasn’t there, and she couldn’t blame him. The officiant began.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony.....”
The words began to blur together, and the room felt warmer.  Casey swore it had started to spin. While most remained oblivious, the officiant and Craig both took notice.
“Are you OK?” Craig whispered in her ear.
“Yeah, maybe a little dehydrated.”
“We can stop this thing for a pop run if you like,” he smiled, then he turned back to the officiant, but Casey’s eyes remained on him.
She felt nauseous. Sienna was right all along. Craig was a good person, and he deserved a loving, devoted wife... not one who swore she saw another man’s face before her as she stood at the altar. She peered over her shoulder at the congregation to find the smiling faces of their friends and family staring back.  She couldn’t ... she couldn’t do this to Craig... but she didn’t know which option was worse. She swallowed hard, feeling unsteady on her feet.
“Casey and Craig's closest friends and family are here today to bear witness to their union....”
Sienna moved closer and whispered.
“Casey, what do you need?”
“I need... I need...
“Will you promise to love and support their marriage in all the days to come? If so, please respond, and we will.”
The congregation responded in kind as Casey leaned into Sienna.
“I don’t know if I can do this?”
“Well, your sucks, but if you’re going to....”
Sienna never finished her sentence because all eyes turned to a booming voice from the back of the room.  Tobias stood in the doorway, the bright sun illuminated behind him.  He looked terrified as he walked down the aisle.  He feared a punch to the teeth from Craig or any of his friends in the room, but that he could handle. His biggest fear was Casey’s reaction, but he had made up his mind... she wasn’t married yet... and this was one regret he wouldn’t be able to live with.
“I love you... Casey. I always have. I love everything about you. Even the things I  don’t like, I love....”
Her jaw fell as she turned to him, trembling, her eyes flickered between Tobias and Craig.
“... and I want you with me. I know I let you go, and I’ve regretted it every day since, so I only had two choices... live with the regret forever... or beg you for another chance before it’s too late. So that’s why I’m here. I love you, Casey, and I think that you love me too... Do you?”
Despite her jagged breathing, she could see Tobias nervously swallow, and while she shook like a leaf, it didn’t prevent her from seeing that he was doing the same.  In utter shock, she nervously searched the room as if an answer would be there.
“Casey?” Craig asked.
Sienna moved closer, her arms just inches away from wrapping around her friend, when Casey’s eyes locked with her father’s. He smiled timidly at his daughter, only wishing he could take her out of this place.  Then he lifted his hands before his chest and bent them to form a perfect heart. Casey gave him a smile, and her choice was made.
~~~~~
Euphoria was the only word that could describe it.  Her fingers slipped into his, intertwined as if they were made for each other.  They held on so tightly it felt like their lives depended on it.  Adrenaline had taken over, and there was no way to contain the utter joy and relief they felt. Tobias turned to Casey, beaming from ear to ear as they continued to race toward his car. He opened the door, and she rushed inside, giddy, lightheaded, and laughing with delight. But by the time he rounded the car and slipped into the driver’s seat, guilt and panic were beginning to seep through.
“Oh, my God...” Casey gasped nervously. “What did we just do?”
“Wait, he asked... are you sure about this?”
She turned to him, and one look in his eyes was all it took for her to understand.  There would be regret over how this came to be, but that regret would pale if they didn’t follow their hearts.  Their hearts knew they had always known; Tobias and Casey were two halves of a whole, never to be complete without each other.
Reaching over, she pulled him into a searing kiss, breaking away only when she realized people might come outside and she needed to be with him alone right now.
"I love you, Tobias," she breathed. "I love you so much."
"God, I love you," he smiled. "I'm going to spend every day for the rest of my life letting you know just how much."
“Good!" She grinned, "But, for now, DRIVE!”
And with a smile she’d remember forever, he happily complied. They could deal with the fallout later. It would be fine. There was nothing they couldn’t handle with each other at their sides. But right now, only one thing that mattered... she was his, and he was hers, and everything was finally the way it was meant to be.
A/N: And that's that! lol Yeah, it totally sucked for Craig, but if it makes you feel better, in the original follow-up to Unblemished, Unforgettable, Casey & Craig end up married for a long time, they had two daughters, and only much later did they realize Craig was always second to Tobias in Casey's heart. Casey didn't even realize it herself. While Craig was rightly hurt, he became pretty nasty to Casey as a result. Tobias & Casey still reunited, but they lost a lot of time. So, while this sucks for Craig, it's OK in the end. (Plus, if you ask me, he was a little TOO into her TOO quick. Some red flags there, folks; this is called rationalization!) Thanks for the prompt request @angelasscribbles, and year. I'm insane! :)
Broken Vows - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Images not mine!
A/N: This is a strange grouping for a fanfic for sure! I LOVE criminal minds and a few months ago, I re-binged-watched the whole series again for the nth time in my entire life. Of all the amazing characters, Spencer Reid definitely wins (although just by a very smalllllll fraction above Emily Prentiss for me). MGG certainly does something to me. I don't know what kind of special powers he possesses but he has the ability to melt me into a messy goo whenever he appears. I mean, look at him. Anyway, this strange idea landed in my brain one day to write a fanfic with both MGG and CE in it. (IK, I am a sucker for angsty three-way-relationship fanfics where Y/N is right smack in the middle of two god-damn good looking people. I am a whore, so sue me. And let's all stop pretending I am the only who enjoys such story arcs.)
The plot with CE may be potentially controversial with many people on Tumblr, and I may lose readers/followers after posting this [I have been letting the draft sit in my documents for months because I am worried of the hate :'( ], but please don't send hate to me! >.< This is purely a fanFICTION. If you're triggered by topics related to CE's "marriage", or "relationship", this fanfic is probably not for you and I wish you the bestest of all best day ahead!
If you're not triggered and would like to read on, I welcome your feedback, comments, likes and reblogs!
Now that all that is out of the way, and if you're still hanging around, enjoy!
The text message from Chris, an apology drowned by unanswered calls, lay cold in your palm. Dim lights from your laptop cast a shadow on your face, barely highlighting the tears streaming down your cheeks. Your phone rings again with Chris’ name flashing on it, but you don’t answer it. What do you even say?
The headline blares: Chris Evans, ever the romantic, stuns the world with a surprise marriage.
The headlines wallop you like a heavyweight champion. Chris is getting married, but it isn’t to you. This is news, even to you, his girlfriend.
I’m sorry. Please listen to me. I can explain this. Another message from Chris appears on your phone.
You stare at the article on your laptop once again for the hundredth time that evening. You know her name. You have heard her name associated with Chris’ multiple times in the last few months. Chris has been open about her with you – until now. You know about the PR relationship Chris is forced to be in with her. He didn’t have a say about it, neither is he able to get out of it for at least a year according to the contract. At least until the “breakup” is announced.  But marriage? This is news to you.
Your phone rings again. This time, it is Matthew’s name that shows up. You hesitate, but swipe your phone to answer it, desperate to hear a familiar voice.
“Hi, Y/N.” Matthew’s voice pierces through the fog of your despair. You answer, your voice thick with tears, "Matthew?"
“Look outside your window.”
Still trembling with a mix of anger, disappointment and disbelief at how the last hour unfolded, you walk to your third floor apartment window and peer down. Beneath the warm orange glow of the street lamps, a familiar face comes into view. Matthew's eyes crinkle at the corners and his brows soften, conveying warmth and understanding. A gentle breeze wafts through your window carrying with it a symphony of scents – a blend of sweet fruits and earthiness – lightly brushing your tear-stained cheeks, providing a cool, soothing sensation. It is the same October breeze that playfully tease Matthew’s curly hair.
“Hi” Matthew mouths with a smile while waving a bottle of wine at you.
You stand there looking him, your phone still glued to your ear, momentarily stun at the sight before you. Your surprise to see Matthew quickly turns into a feeling of comfort like a familiar childhood blanket.
Despite the roller coaster of emotions you feel since the news broke, you return the smile and swiftly walk to your main gate to buzz Matthew in.
“Hi,” Matthew’s voice is so soft and feathery, sending waves of oxytocin to combat the the blast of adrenaline rushing through your veins. “Again.” The curves at both ends of his lips remain up, soothing, and with his signature shy awkwardness. Matthew leans forward and got you into his arms for a quick hug.
“You brought wine,” you say.
“I most certainly did.” Matthew waves the bottle of Pinot Noir happily, like a child showing off his prized sticker book. “And of course I didn’t forget the highlight. If I timed this right, our pizza should be arriving in five minutes.” Matthew grins at you. The laugh that escapes your throat shocked even you. You didn’t know you had it in you to laugh after the hour of turmoil that literally saw you kneeling on the floor with pain that you couldn’t describe.
You step aside to let Matthew in, closing the door behind him to prevent the nippy air from making itself a guest.
“Sorry about the mess.” You wave to the piles of used and soaked tissues around the living room. “I -, er.” Words elude you. You think the last hour will be sufficient to digest and make sense of the situation, but you are wrong. With Matthew standing there in the middle of your living room, you realise you are nowhere near processing your thoughts enough to speak about them.
“What mess? I’m pretty sure my hair takes first prize in the category of ‘messy’,” Matthew chuckles and ruffles his hair.
You laugh again at his silliness. It always comes so naturally with Matthew. There is no need to worry at all that he will judge you for who are, the choices you make, the way you look or the things you say.
He sets down the wine on your coffee table and walks towards you. He grabs you into another hug, this time he squeezes you tighter and does not let go. The hug gives you a sense of relief and you are thankful for his presence. You didn’t have to ask why he is there, so late into the night, at your living room. You know why he came.
The doorbell rings, signaling the arrival of pizza. You slowly let go of Matthew and smile excitedly at him. "Shall we?" he gestures toward the door, and you nod, a sense of ease wash over you.
Sitting across from each other on the floor, the aroma of freshly baked pizza fills the room, mingling with the rich scent of the wine. You take a huge gulp, letting the warmth of the wine soothe the lingering tension. You let out a satisfying “ah” before sinking your teeth into your favourite pizza – with lots of mushrooms. Between the sips of wine and bites of pizza, you realise how famished you are.
“Hey, slow down now,” Matthew warns as he refrains you from throwing another gulp of that wine into your mouth. “You’re going to get indigestion from that. Did you know that roughly 25% of adults in the United States experience indigestion, also known as dyspepsia, each year?” he asks rhetorically.
“I need this, Matthewww,” you draw out the last syllable of his name in a whine. “Pretty please?”
“All right, go ahead. Your limit is three glasses anyway, and you’re almost there already,” Matthew teases you lightly.
“Hey!” you slap him on his arm and pushes the piece of pizza in your hand into his mouth to stop him from talking. “I’m insulted,” you burp and let out an embarrassed ‘oops!”. “Fineeee.  You’re right. You know me too well, Goobs.”
Matthew looks at you and smiles, still with pizza in his mouth. He loves your nickname for him – Goobs, derived from his last name. He allows only you to call him that. It is true that Matthew knows you all too well. Sometimes you think Matthew knows you even better than you know yourself. He knows your favourite scent, your favourite season, your ultimate pet peeves, and he knows exactly how to bring out that cheer in you when you need it. That is exactly why he is here tonight, sitting across of you, his presence a balm to your broken heart.
“How many percentage of people in America get their hearts broken each year, Matthew?” you asks quietly, almost inaudible against the choke you are trying to hold back. You set your third glass of wine on the table and look at Matthew. “I’m now part of that statistics,” you laugh in an attempt to trick your brain into downplaying the real pain it is experiencing. It doesn’t work. That laugh evolves quickly into another bout of uncontrollable tears. You are soon bawling your eyes out again.
“Come here,” Matthew coos gently, reaching his arms out to gather you into his embrace.
“I spoke to Chris when I first saw the news tonight,” you sob into Matthew’s soft satin shirt. Even in your messy state, you notice his scent. You have always liked his scent, and have likened it to your favourite childhood soft toy, the one that you hug to sleep every single night without fail. Matthew is comfort. He is familiarity. He is solace. He is your respite to the chaos.
“He told me that the marriage was planned all along and the announcement of their wedding was in the works since the beginning,” you continue, not leaving Matthew’s chest once as you recount the conversation with Chris.
“He didn’t tell me about it. He knew this was going to happen right from the start but he didn’t tell me about it. He said he didn’t know how to break the news to me.” You pause to reach for a piece of tissue before burying yourself into Matthew’s chest again.
“I don’t get it. Why couldn’t he have told me about it? I am his girlfriend, his real girlfriend, but he couldn’t break the news to me himself. I had to read about it on the news.” You sit up once more and impulsively reach for that bottle of wine to pour yourself a fourth glass. Matthew does not stop you.
You gulp a big mouthful of wine. “I was never okay with this fake PR relationship in the first place. I don’t like that we have to lie to the public or deceive them. It’s not fair. But I had to accept it and I understand that Chris’ hands were tied on this too. This fake relationship should have ended in a break up, not… not this.” You take yet another gulp of the wine.
“I couldn’t continue the conversation with Chris feeling the way I do so I ended the call with him in a bad way.” You brush the tears that are on your cheeks away with the back of your hands. Matthew reaches over to clean off the new tears that are rolling down.
“Am I overreacting, Goobs? Am I insane to be this upset with this trainwreck of an evening?” you ask.
“Hey, come here,” Matthew reaches for your hands. “You have every right to feel what you’re feeling right now so let no one discount your feelings, okay?” he rubs the back of your palm with his thumb.
“You’re right that this evening has been a complete trainwreck. A nightmare. But what I know is that all trainwrecks eventually get cleaned up, and all nightmares come to an end when you wake up. And you,” Matthew smiles softly and brushes off another tear from your cheeks, “You are not overreacting. You feel the way you do because you love Chris so much. Sometimes love can lead us into thinking we’re crazy, but it is precisely that that makes us humans.”
Your lips turn downwards again, feeling another wave of tears in the pit of your stomach rushing to escape from your eyes. “Matthew…”
“What should I do now?” you ask.
“If you ask me, I think the first thing you should do now is to clean up that beautiful face of yours, climb into your warmest blankets and sleep. Don’t underestimate how much sleep can help in your clarity of minds. You will know what to do after you have a good sleep.” Matthew says reassuringly.
You have calmed down significantly by then just by pouring out your entire evening’s rollercoaster of emotions onto Matthew. He is the only one who has this effect on you other than Chris. Chris, you gulp as the thought of him run through your mind. You want to call him, wish him good night and tell him to tell you that everything is going to be all right. You want things to be okay with Chris.
“Okay, Doctor Goobs. I’ll take your advice. But can you stay here tonight?” you ask. You are not confident to be yourself tonight knowing the media circus you will wake up to in the morning regarding the whole marriage debacle.
“Of course.” Matthew stands, extending his arm to you to pull you up from the ground.
____________
Buck walks into the room, he closes the door and says, “Eddie… I can explain.”
Eddie doesn’t want to hear it because this is exactly what he was afraid of, so he deeply inhales and after a few seconds he exhales and says, “No.  You don’t have to because… I know what I saw.”
“It’s not what you think.”
He turns around and looks up to meet Buck’s eyes.  With a pained expression on his face, he whispers, “I asked if you were sure about us waiting until… our wedding night and you said yes.  And I—I asked you to promise me that…”  He heaves a breath as he tries to swallow a sob that’s threatening to escape his lips.  “You would talk to me if you felt like it was too much but you—you didn’t.”
Buck moves to take a step forward but Eddie shakes his head, holds up his hands and takes two steps backwards which causes Buck to stop in his tracks.
Without taking his eyes off Buck, he continues.  “Deep down in my heart, I thought I would be enough for you but… I guess I’m not. You’ve found… someone else and…”
Buck interrupts him. “Eddie!  Listen to me.  It’s not what you think.”
Eddie cuts him off. “You came here to breakup with me, right?   Well… let me save you—you the trouble.”
He takes off his engagement ring and prepares to hand it to him but Buck ignores the space Eddie’s put between them and moves forward with a look of horror on his face.
A Wish your Heart Makes
this isn’t the installment of breakup au i was intending to post but I had this on the back burning for the OG stuff soooo here ya go!! (the other more angsty one will be up eventually i hope)
——
Sasha wouldn’t consider herself a creature of habit but there were certain things she couldn’t go without. One of which being her weekend coffee dates with her daughter. She loved seeing how Kerri’s eyes would light up every morning when they went to run errands since she knew she’d get time with just her Mom afterwards.
They made their way inside and Kerri immediately went over to their spot by the large window, right where the sun would hit perfectly and warm up the booth just right even on the colder of days.
Sasha went up and ordered their drinks: Hot caramel coffee and a hot chocolate with whipped cream. She reached into her purse for her wallet and furrowed her brows. She had it before, it had to be in her bag.
The cashier looked at her knowingly and waited while Sasha felt her cheeks heat up a little in embarrassment. She opened her mouth to say something before someone from behind her handed her card.
“Add it to mine.”
She looked over to see that same auburn hair she could never forget.
Anetra.
After a moment she spoke up. “Thank you. I must’ve left my wallet in my car.”
“It’s no trouble.” Anetra said, looking over at Sasha finally. Her warm brown eyes found Sasha’s and she gave a small half smile. “I owe you for all the times you’d pay for things.”
“You know you don’t have to pay me back.”
“Then think of it as me returning the kindness.”
Sasha let out a small chuckle. She hadn’t changed. That was comforting to know that she was still the same strong and quiet woman she’d known. They stood in silence, only the sounds of the few coffee machines filling the gaps. She’d look over her shoulder periodically and see Kerri still sitting by the window, swinging her legs and staring at the people passing by outside.
“How’s the kid?” Anetra asked, noticing the little girl that looked nearly identical to the woman next to her.
“She’s good. Going to be starting dance classes soon.”
“Bet she’s excited about that.” She gave a small smile. Eventually the drinks were dropped over to the edge. Sasha grabbed them both and handed one to Anetra. Still the same order, she thought to herself.
“Well I’m sorry to barge in on your morning. I’ll be on my way.” Anetra said, holding her cup with her hand over it. She went to walk away but suddenly stopped when Kerri ran over to the pair.
“Did they make it right?” She asked, bouncing on her toes as her mother handed her the smaller cup.
“Yup. All the whipped cream just for you.” She smiled at her. Kerri grinned excitedly and looked up at Anetra for a moment before she recognized her.
“You’re the lady with the big bike outside. What’s your name?”
“My names Anetra. That’s my motorcycle.” Anetra responded, her eyes darting from the child to her mother. Sasha had to bite back a chuckle at how filled with anxiety her brown eyes seemed. “I uh, like your dress.”
“Thank you. My names Kerri.” She smiled. “I like your makeup, it looks really pretty. Do you wanna sit with me and Mommy for coffee time?”
Anetras eyes widened for a split second. “Oh no, I don’t think I should. That’s your time with your Mom and I wouldn’t want to intrude.” She glanced back over to Sasha, silently begging for her to help.
“It’s okay. My Mommy won’t mind, right Mommy?” The brown haired girl looked up at her mother with a wide smile. Shit.
“She can stay if she would like, but I’m sure she’s is busy today, sweetheart.” She attempted to end the discussion.
“I’m not.” She said quietly. “I don’t have anything for the rest of the day.”
Kerri picked up on it and grinned from ear to ear. “See? She can stay for coffee time.” She took Anetras free hand and pulled her over to their booth. Sasha let out a small smile as she watched the visible fear in her brow when she looked over her shoulder at her.
Kerri was right by the window with Anetra next to her, smiling excitedly while the redhead tried to match her energy, giving a tense smile.
“So,” Anetra cleared her throat and looked at Sasha. “How’s your morning been?”
“Really good. My Mommy’s taking me to get dance clothes since imma start dancing soon.” Kerri said excitedly, her eyes wide as she looked at Anetra.
“That’s exciting.” She said, relaxing a bit and taking a sip of her coffee. “I remember when I first started dancing. I was about your age.”
“No way. You’re a grown up.”
“Everyone used to be little, Kerr bear.” Sasha chuckled. “Even me.”
“Woah.” She said after sipping her hot chocolate, whipped cream on her nose.
“It’s a little freaky.” Sasha smiled. “You got a little stuff on your nose, bear.” She brought her thumb up and gently wiped it away, licking her finger.
“Hey!” Kerri laughed. “Thief!”
“What?!” She gawked dramatically. “I was not stealing.” Anetra watched how the mother and daughter continued to laugh and smile. She hadn’t seen this side of Sasha when they were together; so carefree and attentive and and always smiling.
They sat for a while, just talking and laughing together at whatever stories Kerri said demanded their attention. Eyes wandered and smiles were exchanged as that slow trickle steadied to a consistent current and filled her with that sickly sweet head rush that made her throw her anxieties and thoughts to the wind. God, this was what she missed. The easy smiles and ease that Sasha's presence always seemed to bring and blanket over the hurricane of thoughts that made her stomach sick.
Kerri started to calm down her rampant storytelling after her chocolate was finished and her eyelids seemed to grow heavy, her head leaning to the side as she slowly shifted towards Anetra side. The little girl yawned and rested her against the redhead's arm, her cheek against her warm skin.
Sasha watched the panic set into her eyes for a moment as Anetra straightened her posture and tried to move her arm away but Kerri only followed where she moved to. She smiled more as she watched her relax and bring her arm around the girl, gently pulling her closer to her body and giving her more support to sleep.
Everything felt so perfect in that moment. She felt a warmth bloom in her chest. Maybe now it could work between them, maybe now she could have both of the people she cared about in life together, maybe everything could finally be perfect and her heart wouldn’t ache anymore or long for that linger piece it still needed.
It was all coming true. It felt like a dream.
Sasha woke up to sun coming in through her window. She rubbed her bleary eyes and took in her surroundings. No coffee shop, no motorcycle outside, no Anetra. Just the same bedroom she woke up and fell asleep in.
She sighed and turned over onto her side, away from the steady stream of sunlight coming into her room. It all felt so real, like it was actually happened and was a memory of sorts. But that’s the funny thing about the mind. Sometimes it takes out deepest desires in our hearts and twists them into some strange form and convinces us it’s real before snatching it away and crumbling what little and fragile hope you had.
She felt her heart beat and that same ache return to her chest. She closed her eyes and thought back to how perfect Anetra looked in the dream with her daughter, how she smiled and softened to the little girl. She should’ve known it wasn’t real at that moment but she had hope. Her mind focused on how Anetra looked at her with that little flicker of hope and let a silent tear go down her cheek.
There’s no way it could be and she would only have dreams to soothe the forever ache in her heart.
Helloooooo I have an odd request but do you mind doing a Nayeon fic based off the song lover of mine by 5sos? It’s perfectly fine if you don’t want to 🙈🙈💘
Not an odd request, I love song fics :,) also went through a huge 5sos phase but ignore that. THANK YOU for your request and sorry if I took forever, ily though and stay safe <3333 :)))
Pairing: Nayeon x GN reader
Word count: 1k
Genre/contents: was not supposed to be angsty but here we are. Very minimal amounts of fluff, good luck finding it.
TW: maybe don’t read this if you’re going through a breakup. I can’t control you though
Note: This mf (me) is posting again at 4am, can you believe?? I can. But this really wasn’t supposed to be angsty but I’m also kinda upset rn (unrelated to you, anon. ily) so it’s angsty, surprise surprise lmaaoooooo. Uhhh I also omitted some of the lyrics that I couldn’t really ‘brain’ too well with so yee, but they are color coded. You’ll hopefully see why once you read haha THANK YOU AGAIN I HOPE YOU ENJOY and thank you for your patience :)) 💜
I fcking love Nayeon though. She gives me butterflies. Also couldn’t find a gif because they are too happy for the contents of this post.
Tumblr media
Lover of mine, maybe we'll take some time
Everything was perfect in the beginning. You had Nayeon, she had you. The warm feeling you two felt when you saw, spoke to, or whenever you were simply near each other.
Perfect.
But it was only the ‘honeymoon’ stage of your relationship.
Everything after that would be one long rollercoaster, showing you that relationships weren’t just cuddles and kisses and complimenting each other sweetly.
The bumps in the ‘rollercoaster’ would need time to get over and luckily, you were both on board.
Kaleidoscope mind gets in the way. Hope and I pray, Darling, that you will stay
Nayeon wasn’t sure how this would end, your relationship. If it would end.
Moments where you would grow distant because of the amount of work you had or when Nayeon would be away for weeks- even months at a time during her groups' comebacks.
The distance created a kaleidoscope of doubts and fears in your mind, hoping that she would stay and not drift off.
Yet there she was, her bright smile as she softly hummed, opening a box of various sweets. Seeing her smile alone had eased your worries and you were glad she stuck by your side.
And she, with you.
Dance around the living room, lose me in the sight of you. I've seen the red, I've seen the blue, Take all of me
Everything was perfect.
The spontaneous dancing together, forgetting every flaw in your relationship, the way she made you feel, the way she laughed when you were at your happiest.
It was all red, if you had to assign a color to this feeling. The color of love and romance, you and Nayeon energetically aligned with each other. The color of the blood pumping from your heart as your heart raced.
It was the color of her lipstick when she’d kiss you on a night out or the blush on her cheeks when you made her feel your love.
Though that was more of a pink tint, it was still a tint of red.
Then there was the blue. The arguments you would have or even the lonely nights you and Nayeon spent away from each other. It was all blue.
The emptiness, the longing, the heartache. The blue.
“I’m sorry.”
Two words that only go so far. Two words you frequented more often than you’d like to admit. To really mean it, you would have to show it. Nayeon was always accepting, adding to your guilt from arguing.
“I know.”
Whether your moments with Nayeon were red or blue, you still wouldn’t change it for the world.
I'll never give you away 'Cause I've already made that mistake
You were scared. Scared you would lose her, scared she would find better than you.
But she was the same. She feared losing you, feared you would find someone with more time.
Time.
Such a delicate thing, isn’t it?
It’s either too fast when everything is red, or too slow when everything was blue.
Nayeon looked at you from across the table, setting down the menu when she did.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Nayeon beamed, a blush tint on her cheeks.
You just smiled at her a little bit wider, knowing you had her by your side and you would never let her slip away.
At least not for as long as you had control.
“You’re just very beautiful.”
If my name never fell off your lips again, I know it'd be such a shame. When I take a look at my life and all of my crimes. You're the only thing that I think I got I right
It was perfect how Nayeon said your name when addressing you or trying to catch your attention.
It would be a shame to never hear her voice again. There your mind went, phasing into a Kaleidoscope of worries and fears of losing her.
Everyone you’ve been with in your past, the heartbreak, their respective ‘red’ and ‘blue’ moments you experienced.
Even the failed ‘talking stages’.
None of those were meant to be. You know this.
But with Nayeon, it was different. It felt meant to be.
Perfect. Everything about her was perfect in your eyes.
And you looked at Nayeon, your mind a Kaleidoscope of worries and fears that rapidly turned into the most beautiful kaleidoscope of thoughts of her. The patterns of the lovely things she’s said and the different looks you’ve seen her in.
The red outweighed the blue.
Everything wrong from your past didn’t matter.
You were at this moment in time, with Nayeon.
Everything about your relationship felt right. From the moment you met her, the red, even the blue, it was all right.
Everything was perfect.
Lover of mine, I know you're colorblind. I watched the world fall from your eyes. All my regrets and things you can't forget.
The red or the blue, Nayeon didn’t see the colors you saw. The red, she saw happiness, good times. The blue, she wished she could erase.
And like all good things, they eventually came to an end. Your past and her past relationships eventually collided.
Not in a crash and not in a fiery explosion of blue flame either, but rather quiet, simply letting go of a rope that had dug into both of your hands for too long.
An hourglass that ran out of sand.
Time was a delicate thing.
Trying to keep each other close and yet being so disconnected for long periods.
It was possible to maintain or manage the time. But just like Nayeon, time had fleeted away from you too.
Light them all up, Kiss them goodbye
“I love you.”
Three words that only went so far. Three words you often said, but not enough. The kaleidoscope in your mind showing you patterns of what-ifs, things you will never know now that she had moved on.
Nayeon’s mind was equally a kaleidoscope of what-ifs, even after your break up, she wondered if breaking up was the right decision.
“I loved you.”
Three words that hurt the most to hear, yet went further than I love you. Somehow, it was red.
Her last kiss to you before she had moved her stuff out of your apartment meant so much but was painted blue in your memory.
“Maybe next time?”
Blue? Red?
Purple.
“Maybe next time, sure.”
But everything was perfect.
what are some parallels between jolex and stellaride? i’m probably the only one who hasn’t seems greys anatomy but i here about jolex all the time and im interested
okay idk if you’re planning on maybe watching greys, but as a victim of jolex (and greys anatomy in general tbh) i feel the need to warn you to NOT watch that stupid show unless you want nothing but pain. i always love when people discover jolex but it will also bring you misery. so do with that what you will!
but anyway i’m going to try to be as spoiler free as possible but also since you asked for parallels i assume you don’t care that much about spoilers??? if i do accidentally spoil more than you wanted i’m sorry though😭but here goes:
-both people in the ship have similar childhood trauma
-a girl who survived domestic violence and never learned what healthy love looks like meets a manwhore and the rest is history
-everyone can see it but them
-girl helps boy through the death of his POS father
-former bad boy becomes better for one girl only!
-very angsty breakup era
-more than one proposal
-both couples live in lofts. barely counts as a parallel but it’s so cute i had to mention it
-BOAT WEDDING
-all of me by john legend is their song
-SO MANY similar quotes for example: “we’ll figure it out” “i’m not going anywhere” and more
sorry for the obscenely long post but stellaride and jolex are very personal to me😭
