I do really love fics where it's clear that other than being skilled at combat and incredibly smart and obviously sosososo fucking good with money ningguang could also be like. Liyues next top model if she weren't the tianquan. Yelan wants her. Ganyu wants her. Keqing wants her. Yanfei wants her. All of her secretaries want her. Ningguang can't go two feet without finding a lesbian doing heart eyes. And she knows but she is also soso head over heels for known pirate king captain beidou of the crux who is admittedly very cool but also distinctly a criminal. Like women with these high-power government jobs are practically throwing themselves at her feet and she's like no. I do want the woman who killed the fucking sea monster. Only I can know how to file taxes. She has to have at least 1 million mora in government debt. And most importantly. I need someone who can save the pieces of my house that fell in the ocean.

Wait holy shit if Childe had fallen into the abyss just a bit younger and was yeeted to the fatui at the same age...
Do you think he wouldve been adopted by Arlecchino's orphanage?? Now there is an AU I wanna see. Murder gremlin Childe who's only parental figures for years have been hot scary abyss woman and hot scary Harbinger woman.
No wait I'm so into this she makes him wear the scarf and scoffs about his ridiculous stomach window in Harbinger meetings and he instinctually does the "Daaaaaad" whine and the other Harbingers are trying desperately not to laugh cause they know Arlecchino is down to shank a bitch.
Just. Childe raised by Arlecchino. Chefs kiss.

I’ll never get over how good of a dynamic Beiguang is like they’re married and they’re obviously married like everyone can see it everyone knows. But “””officially””” they have to “keep it secret” because ningguang’s the freakin president and beidou’s kind of a naughty crime woman so it would be ~scandalous~ or whatever but like everyone knows they’re together they just can’t SAY it out loud in certain circles or they’ll get Yoten

To lend a hand
What if the Creator was absolutely terrible at the game? Definitely not speaking from prior experience here
Like, your acolytes are still getting stronger compared to before they were blessed by the Creator's presence, but the builds are all wrong; all the artifact and weapon stats and abilities are not optimal, they aren't leveled, and the skill leveling path is completely wrong. And the Creator just can't time their dashes to I-frame through attacks and skills to get proper reactions. Think like, using Mona's burst randomly and just letting it pop on its own with no follow up.
At first, the acolytes will be absolutely delighted to be blessed by their Creator, then, after suffering constant defeats, they realize that the Creator is completely unfamiliar with the land they created after being separated from Teyvat for so long. The role of the Creator is essentially to offer many paths to power, but the acolytes themselves must choose which ones to walk on. Also they believe that if they don't help you, they're scared that the Creator will get tired of Teyvat after constantly losing and will uninstall the game. They don't want to play the game for you; just make it easier so that they will still play.
In Mondstadt, Jean organizes the Knights to help you in commissions in anyway that they can, even if they're pulling triple duty. For delivering food, instead of the Creator stumbling around random paths well past the time limit, they find that the only goal is to simply grab the delivery fee from the front gates and give it to Sara. Meanwhile, Kaeya, Lisa, and Eula construct a makeshift obstacle course, full of non-damaging traps, to help train the Creator in I-frame dashing, which doubles as a commission. While they are a bit firm in their training, they don't push the Creator too hard and make it seem impossible to accomplish. When the Creator finally dashes through the first obstacle, the entire city erupts with celebration.
The obstacle course would later become a mandatory test requirement for the Knight of Favonius recruitment trials. Of course, Ella and Noelle pass with flying colors.
In Liyue, Zhongli automatically activates his shields whenever the Creator begins a battle, sometimes almost breaking the limits of the connection between Creator and acolyte to lengthen his shield duration well past their coded limits. Meanwhile, Ningguang sends bits of her information board to the Creator's mailbox on what to buy, how to manage resources and mora, and where to ask for assistance in Teyvat.
During the Tartaglia boss fight, at first he's excited to fight a Creator-powered acolyte for the first time, but after the 20th victory without needing to draw on the power of his delusion, he and everyone else in the Creator's party begins to hear crying and words of "This boss fight is impossible..." from the Creator.
Immediately, the characters in the party go full Super Saiyan; temporarily leveling up their talents to the highest, obtaining all the food buffs at once, and even steal the most powerful weapons from the gacha, while Tartaglia musters as much "overly dramatic defeated villain" acting energy as he can.
"Ah~~! It- it can't be! Where did you obtain this power from?! You're too strong~!" As he slowly falls over, "defeated" when the Creator finally overcomes his 2nd phase.
The joyful cheers from the Creator of that day prompted the creation of a new holiday in Liyue, which surpasses the popularity of the Lantern Rite. Even Osial delayed his emergence to let the people celebrate the momentous occasion.
In Inazuma, the first fight against Raiden terrifies the Creator so much that they immediately burst into tears at the notion of fighting them a second time. With that, every character allied with the Resistance is motivated times 10000; this wasn't just a war to repel the Vision Hunt Decree, this was a war to make sure the Creator's heart isn't hurt ever again. Kokomi, Gorou, and later even Sara Kujou, combine their strategic minds to come up with the best possible builds for each acolyte the Creator has obtained, and sends a letters of guidance of how to build a proper kit to the Creator's mailbox.
When Signora steps up to challenge the acolytes, the Creator once again is terrified of fighting another Harbinger. Unfortunately for Signora, the Creator has learned (somewhat) from their previous experiences, and with immense difficulty, defeats Signora. During the Raiden boss fight, the Creator finds that the Shogun's blade was dealing less damage than before, and the windows to attack were quite long. After an intense battle, the Creator manages to defeat the Shogun and leads her to repeal the Vision Hunt Decree.
After all, the puppet has learned her lesson after watching the Creator's new power being used against Signora. True eternity was earned from the passing moments of growth, culminating in an eternal memory engrained in the Creator's mind as they finally overcome their challenges and claim their rightful rewards with the help of their acolytes.

the thing about yelan is that her character stories are so fucking crazy and yet nobody ever talks about her
like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ID: text that reads: "in the past she was a wild beast driven by pure instinct. Drawn to danger, she walked into darkness. The text is taken from Yelan's character stories.")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
>likes pain >craves danger, has no fear >went into the abyss, lost a bunch of team members and was the only one who came out alive. "For the first time in her life, she stopped, for a long, long time." >related: her look of panicked realization when it dawned on her that xiao was going to sacrifice himself in the chasm so the rest of their group could reach the surface >"wild beast driven by pure instinct. Drawn to danger, she walked into darkness" >"The cycle of gaining and losing is a rather accurate summary of Yelan's life"
IDK im not smart enough to put together any pieces of hidden lore from her stories but god the picture it paints hello?? someone dark, dangerous, and lethal, who ultimately does her job out of somewhere altruistic (protecting Liyue Harbor from another cataclysm), but who also is so cursed (cursed in the way that childe's time in the abyss changed him or how shenhe's inauspicious birth is attributed to her early life misfortunes)

To Dream of Reality ~Lantern Rite ft. Ningguang~
"lantern rite, and festivities"
MASTERLIST ~~
You are not one to lucid dream.
Usually, your dreams are like those of a butterfly's-
Flying through the air, helpless to the winds that surround.
And yet, tonight, the world of your dreams is perfectly intact.
Lantern Rite in Liyue.
The golden lights, so warm in your eyes, floated around you, each lantern a wish sent off from someone, from someone's heart, from one of your beloved children of Teyvat.
The warmth from the lanterns, the sound of festival cheer, the smell of food…
It felt strangely like home.
A plate of freshly cooked skewers laid upon your lap as you sat on the harbor docks, your feet swinging gently off the pier.
This… was nice.
If only this was reality.
~~
Lantern Rite's main festivities had ended, the Concert bright and exciting. The remaining week was left to bask in the festival itself, in the musicals and operas, the food and lights and colors.
If the main stage was for tourists, the remaining festival was for the locals. Liyueans, with the streets cleared, were finally able to enjoy Lantern Rite as it was meant to be celebrated- to welcome the Moon in the New Year.
Most Lantern Rites after the Main Festivities were quiet, as was this one.
Until they appeared, in ethereal glory, asking for nothing but a snack.
The Creator had appeared many times before within Mond, and reportedly thrice within Liyue, consulting with the samurai from Inazuma, the strange man from Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and the Vigilant Yaksha.
Only once had the Creator appeared for non-vision wielders, and only a brief meeting.
As the Tianquan of the Qixing, Ningguang wanted to welcome the Creator, but as they appeared in their mortal form, would it be rude to call attention to them?
Rumors had it that the Creator was gentle and calm, appearing mortal yet undeniably divine.
As she saw them swinging their legs off the docs, humming along to the songs of the harbor, she understood. Just how mortal that form was, just how mortal they appeared.
Rumors had it that the Creator had not fully descended, that their form was partially transparent, and that their form was like that of glass. Ningguang had faith in those rumors, but perhaps the truth has merely changed. Their hand firmly grasped the skewers, their face opaque as they turned around, eyes widening as the stood to bow.
"Hi, Ningguang!" Perhaps the rumors weren't true after all. Perhaps the words of the Creator were not that formal, not that... forced. Perhaps this was what Mond wished to keep secret, the informal, gentle speech of the True Divine.
"You know my name?"
"Of course! Lantern Rite is so pretty this year... I'm glad I get to experience it for real this time. As real as I can be, here."
As real as I can be, huh?
Ningguang looked at the Divine, wondering what thoughts ran through their mind.
"I wish I could stay." they said, eyes soft as their hand reached out towards the sky. "I wish I could keep d̴̡̝͉͇̰̬͍̭̊̃͂͑̃̂̚͜͜͝r̶̛͉͈̂̔́̒͐̈́̋̊̒́̀̕͝è̸̢̙̝̼͖̹͔͎̄́̂̋̐͑̆́͌̊̐̆̈́̽ä̵̢̳͖̖̺͙̦̹̙̙̣̼́͊͛m̷̛̳͇̹̰̰͍̗̮͇͇͈̣͕͗̄̓͂̆̋͛̀͘ͅi̶̟̟̭̩̗̝̼̬̭̜̯̳̝̎̾͜ͅǹ̶͓̳͔͉̰̊̋̿̆͌͐̉̉́̂́̄̕g̸̢͎̱̖̻̝͉̖̟̅̉̓̂̒ of this place. Living here n' all."
It's strange, Ningguang thought. How mortal their divine sounds. How utterly human a God appears.
Until their body became transparent.
and they uttered another few words.
"How I wish to grant the wishes of Teyvat. How I wish to assist this world, how I wish to return home at last."
Their body shimmers, becoming the same color as the Xiao Lanterns, light reflecting off the ocean waters as they vanish. Ningguang raced back to the Jade Chamber, summoning pen and paper to draft a letter. The Creator wished to return home to Teyvat, and Teyvat would welcome them with open arms.
To prevent those heart wrenching words from being spoken again, she'd guarentee it.
~~
You rarely lucid dream, and on the lucky nights where you do get to control your sleep-thoughts, the control slips away just as fast. You remember your dream, for once. The taste of Mora Meat and Grilled Ticker Fish remain fresh in your memories as you looked out the windows, at the harsh white-light of cities and electricity.
Nothing like the golden lanterns of wishes that Y̶͕͑́̎̚ǫ̸̛̛͔͖̪̱̥̦̭͕̎̾͊̿̄͠u̴̟̦͈̺̤̫̣̲̼̅̋̈́͆̀̋̇̕͝r̵̨̗͎͕̄̃̀͑͒̋̓̀͑̊̒̌̅͜͠ ̷̢͇̩̰͓̳͈̖̲̝̞̝̦̇̑́̈̈́̅̓̔̎̍͂́̏͝b̵̢̢̜̪̼̩̭̺͔͕̤͇̥͊́͘e̸͓̙͚̩͈̲̤̎̒͒̿̈́̓͆̇͑̃̂̈́́̕͝l̵̳̫̟͋̏̏̓̏̈́͛͂́̕͠ǒ̵͉͖̹̼͚̗v̸̦͎̳̮̩̻̅̐̉͋̄́͒͘ȇ̶̱͖̆̿̊̐̌̍̀̀́̾͛̈́͒ď̶̡͖̹̺͓͇̬͎͇̒̽̒͗̈́̿̽ ̷̥̫͙̱̣̏̈́̔͘c̶̢̛̦̦̼͍̥̬̻͇̣̰̗̗̟̑̄͗̓̒͗̎̾̎̂̾h̸̨̯̝̲̏͘͜͠ì̵̘̳̞͚̃̏͛́̕l̶͔̳͉̺̠͔̣̥̳͋̃̄̅̂̊d̶̯͚̹̣̲̗̬̗̟͚̞̼̿̑͛͊͝͝͝r̶͍̳̄e̸̪̞͔̘̔̽̽̀͒̚ṉ̷̗̺̱̊͐̾̓̓̈́̽̎̓̃̀͘ ̷̫̹͚͓͂̽̕ọ̶̯͎͎̑̎̎̍̈̈́̈́̐͐̋̅͌̕͠f̶̨̡̡̧̛̛̞̹̰̻̩̺̟̱̣̬͊̈ͅ ̵̨̣͒̃̑̈͊͛̄̃̋͜͝͝T̸̢̪̟̰̠̞̙̘̬͍͆̾̂̿̾͗͑̋̑̓͝͝͝é̵̡̖̰̝̳͍̲̤̰͖̫̎̋̈́̉̓͑͜ẏ̶̨̨̺̱̣̺͎̖̙̘͈̭̐̉͊̈͆̆͊͑͘͠ͅv̴̬̮̘͂͌̀́͋́͝a̶̪͚͚̟̼͉͌̐̆̃ţ̵̢̧͉̳̘̖̤̓̈́͒̽̔̑͌̆̀̍́̃͂̉ had scent up to the skies.

send me a # and ill write a fic based on it!
Tumblr media
the sun sets behind mount tianheng. it casts a golden glow over the already gold-blessed harbor of liyue. tonight, ningguang is morose. she is pensive in a quiet, secretive way. since the fatui have begun their slow encroching on the home of magic ningguang is chief of, this silent pensiveness has overtaken her being. her gaze turns up towards the said home of magic, her home, the jade chamber, then to the quiet picnic laid out for her.
to fall so silent at such a romantic evening. though there is emptiness, there is a missing person, a missing elf who had so cruelly been forced away.
"penny for your thoughts?" beidou asks.
ningguang hums. "i'm thinking of death."
"any reason why?"
"because i will never let it come to me. it will take you from me and leave me here."
beidou has nothing to say to that. nothing to say to the selfishness she admires, she loves in the woman beside her. beidou takes a long drink from her canteen.
"[first]--" beidou begins. the thoughts of that book, the one with the torturous trials of immortality flood her thoughts. as do the pangs of inferiority, that she could not master magic, could not master immortality as the woman beside her could.
"must remain dead." ningguang cuts through beidou's thoughts. she takes a shaky breath. covers her next with a long draw from her pipe. "they are safe dead."
loneliness, beidou realizes, is the emotion that has lingered in ningguang's eyes. that has taken the glints. she might be human, knowing of by soulfully ignorant to magic, but she could withstand the pain. she could eat the heart of a faerie dragon. she could withstand the pain.
"the fatui will be gone one day," beidou whispers. "and they'll come back."
neither of them mention the truth: by the time the fatui have released their grip on the mage's council, time will have taken beidou. and fear, that hatred learned from that fear, will have taken the elves.
and ningguang will be alone. starving and alone, the most powerful mage throughout the lands.
