The other thing that I think I would want in an Annabeth Wayne AU that I don't think I've seen so far is Bruce being absolutely pissed at Athena.
It was bad enough with Talia and Damian, but Athena is a literal god of wisdom who should know better AND he doesn't even have the "culpability" of having slept with her.
She one hundred percent saw Batman, tactician of the Justice League, was drawn in by her aspect of the Goddess of Strategy, and proceeded to create a child without his consent, a daughter who she didn't even raise before the child became a weapon.
And like whatever else, however fucked up Damian was by his own training to become a child-weapon, at least Talia loved Damian.
Whereas Athena loves Annabeth in the way a Goddess loves, not the way a Person loves, and I don't think Bruce, whose entire identity is so fixated on his relationship with his own parents, would recognize that as love at all.
And, like, Talia put Damian through a lot of shit. I think Bruce would be angry there too. But when push came to shove, she at least at some point brought him to Bruce because she thought it was in her son's best interests.
Athena actively lead Annabeth away from Bruce and into the streets at the age of seven, which Bruce would never see as in her best interest, whatever Athena's godly perspective is, however badly he reacted after Jason's death, even though he couldn't see (and dismissed the idea of) the spiders and the monsters. She was seven. In the streets of Gotham.
Athena let Annabeth fight a major role in two wars back to back without being there to train her or protect her or love her or even advise her. Athena advocated for the cold blooded murder of the other children who had actually tried to keep his daughter safe. Athena sent Annabeth against Arachne when Athena's children have universally died on that quest for a thousand years.
Athena let Bruce think he had gotten Annabeth killed because of his own inability to handle his grief. Let him think his daughter was dead or worse for years. Would have let him keep thinking that if the Fates didn't have other plans.
And just, in true fashion for all of my ideas on a PJO x DC crossover, everyone really comes out more traumatized than before. This includes Bruce.
Because now he wasn't just used unknowingly for a child just once, but twice. And in both cases he's going to have to live forever with the guilt of not having been able to protect his kids from what their other parent wanted to make of them
(On top of all the ways he has directly failed them and made any complexes worse, of course )

i know we're all trying to move forward, but its been a few days and i'd like to speak more clear-headedly on the subject: with regards to Dream, i think its... extremely unfair to warp those exiting the fandom as suffering from some kind of "mob mentality." this isnt a result of misinfo or fearmongering -- in general, i think ex-dtblr bloggers fall on a wider spectrum than people believe wrt whether Dream is a bad person and how guilty he is.
although i can only speak from my experience/feelings, the thing that tipped this into "i really need to leave" territory, even though things still seem like a gray area to some with the trial in the air, is that this is very much an issue that can only exist because of Dream's platform, his fan community, and (as he noted in his twitlonger) parasocialism. i think many of us were put in a position where we realized a victim came forward, and our kneejerk reaction was that we didnt WANT to believe her, and that was an appalling thing to confront.
it all fell into perspective for some of us who have defended Dream tooth and nail in the past: how damning would something have to be before we believed it? really, in this situation, the only thing we could do was withdraw active, public support. sure, sure, parasocialism is to blame; if that's really the case, we all needed the wake-up call 😭 a lot of us have been through this song and dance with former creators -- blind faith only gets you so far before we have to remember ourselves.

omfg people really need to calm the fuck down about people disliking some characters like it's not always a deep seated prejudice or an inability to empathise it's because we are human beings with our own experiences and normal biases and fictional characters are not real and it doesn't matter if you don't like them for pretty much any reason at all and doesn't make you suddenly x just because the character is y it just means you don't like them. obviously other indications of actual prejudice or a repeated pattern mean something else entirely but you can just dislike a character because get this they're a character and not a real person. you can dislike real people too even it's almost like we've got free will. please oh please can we get out of the torture chamber together.

do palestinians with israeli citizenship (or even just arab or muslim israelis) just not exist to leftists. i just had the misfortune of seeing a post talking about how a one state solution wouldn’t work bc it would mean israel got to exist and therefore palestinians would be “oppressed, marginalized, and abused” if they were integrated into israeli society. I’m sorry, what? it’s just baffling to me that these bafoons genuinely believe there are no palestinians, arabs, or muslims already in israel just because the gaza strip is what it is. bitch, they exist, and they’re living the same life a jewish israeli citizen is living. what in the al jazeera are you talking about.

i think everyone who is reblogging that post about how horrible and creepy and fucked up it is to speculate about someone being possibly trans needs to
1) think about why/when these speculations are being made. context matters. are they harassing or crossing boundaries of anyone specific/an actual concrete person, or simply making comments to themselves, to friends, or in a general open online area.
2) ask yourself if it is actually so bad and harmful to say someone could be trans.
3) ask yourself if these speculations about transness actually uphold gender norms. does being trans upholds gender norms. is a trans woman reinforcing stereotype if she wears makeup, or is a transmasc reinforcing stereotype if they get top surgery. why do trans people, especially trans women, do these things. if these actual actions are okay for trans people to do as their form of gender expression, then is this actually bad to simply speculate about.
4) ask yourself if you've heard this shit before like. does this at all bring to mind how straight people found it offensive to be speculated as gay, and the subsequent gross backlash against gay people helping anyone out of the closet, and the movement of "let bros be bros" gaining more attention/priority than. yknow. simply normalizing people being gay and that not being a bad thing or an insult to think someone may be gay.
5) most importantly: who is making these speculations. is it "people" in general like the post says or is it fellow trans people, who know what it is like to be closeted with no info, no other trans people to talk to, no way to explore themselves safely until someone says something first. and is it trans people or specifically trans women, who are especially vulnerable to these things. are these trans women actually being harmful or do you view trans womens' personal speculations as inherently forceful, creepy, and invasive.
6) ask yourself why that may be.
7) be honest.

I like how the death of literacy is because tumblr users watch kids cartoons and not that we live in a capitalist hellscape where you don't own what you have and curating your internet space to include anything of substance is increasingly inaccessible

My brain is so full of Bees about Post-Shift 2.
It's a fan game that was delayed for 4 years -- by the time it released, fnaf fangames as a whole were not as popular as they had been, & most people in the scene had forgotten about Post-Shift 1, so not a lot of people heard about it/played it.
Worse still is the people who did talk about the game. Pretty unanimously, the consensus was this: this game is the craziest, most insane fnaf fangame. It's overly difficult with mechanics that have no rhyme or reason to them & tutorials that are wordy, unhelpful, & sometimes actively mislead the player, meaning you need to comb through a lot of text only to be misinformed. It's not as infamous as some other fangames, but it definitely was talked about very poorly.
In general, I think most of these criticisms were blown up out of proportion, but I can't really disagree with most people's problems -- it is difficult & wordy, & rather hard to understand. I think, however, that the game is still 1. Really fun, 2. Not a bad game at all, &, most importantly, 3. Is a free fucking game that was clearly a passion project. Most damn fangames never get off the fucking ground when made in groups because the creators will never make a red cent off the thing -- this game was made by one dude for 4 years & delivered to people for free. It didn't ask anything of you except to accept it as a difficult game & to not go in with wild expectations. The dev just wanted to make a game that was rough, but he also wanted to make a game that felt unique & was fun. & It is fun, too, is the damn thing.

I completely agree with you on the fact that James changed. It’s so frustrating seeing people say that Remus and Sirius were biased, as if they aren’t fictional characters who are supposed to tell the reader how things really went down. I find you strong for always answering to these people politely. Snape wives are the most annoying side of the internet.
Ehh to be fair marauders stans can be just as annoying and weird about the characters lmao. The only non annoying side of the internet is MY BLOG, run by me, person who has the correct opinions about everything ever ❤️🥲

look i think the thing people forget is that My Hero Academia is not a typical shounen. Its purposeful. Its well written. Horikoshi does not DO throw away plot-lines. He doesn't ignore plot holes. Over the past 10 years he has proven, time and time and TIME again that this is an incredibly thought out, narrative-driven brilliant story that has taken popular tropes and preconceptions and turned them on their head.
Have a little faith.

aaaaa idk if my opinion is even relevant regarding your malenia fic but,,, i also spent like the past few years writing a lot for a game considered by many to be a flop, for a minor character with few appearances, and it’s literally basically a canon x oc fic. and i didn’t share it for years bc i was like “this is unbelievably stupid and self indulgent” but on a whim i decided to share it, and i’ve been blown away by the responses of people who enjoy it. and i feel like you have really great insights about malenia so i’m positive it would be a fantastic read!!! ;; if you ever choose to publish it i hope you link it here :’)
Thank you for this message, it really means a lot 💕
I guess my main problem is I tend to read too much into the overly judgemental fans comments and then it gets in my head and completely discourages me. I really need to learn to not give a shit I know, but it’s kind of hard some times.
That’s really great though that you were able to share your fic! I’m glad people enjoyed it too! It’s always such a nice feeling when people respond in a nice way to the things you care about. To be honest I’m probably overthinking this as I know there are people who are definitely supportive. It’s just unfortunately I get hung up on the negativity. The Elden Ring fans haven’t been the.. uh nicest of people to deal with, and especially when it comes to Malenia people are either just downright awful about her or they get weird about how you portray her.
Anyway enough of me complaining. Thank you again for your message! I’ll admit, it did make me feel a little better actually :’)

You dont have to answer ofc but: what are kuron's feelings towards the Black Lion? Cause it(she? they?? i never know how to refer to em) saved him, then ignored him, then let him pilot, and after that kinda. allowed Allura to take Shiro's soul and put him in kuron's body sooo..... i feel like its complicated
That is an excellent question. And you are right it would feel incredibly complicated but also i think Kuron would feel just really used by Black. Like to him Black had to have known that he was a clone, it had to have known that Haggar was in his mind and can control him, it had to have known that Shiro was "dead", it had to have known and yet it did nothing. For all he knows Black didnt even see him as a person but a replacement which is why he "saved" him and let him pilot when Keith flunked on them. So yeah Kuron does NOT trust Black's intentions, he does not trust Black, he lowkey hates Black for letting this happen, and if it were here he would have yelled at it for hours. Unfortunately Black and the other lions are not here and galavanting across the multiverse so this also goes to the backburner.
I am not saying that that is how Black saw him like a replacement. I am saying that Kuron believes Black saw him as a replacement

someone talking about the ways media and common tropes/depictions of things that are either explicitly or implicitly linked to marginalized people are demonized and presented badly is not a fucking opportunity for you to flex how you're doing it Differently And Better
