If you haven't already checked out Just Your Ordinary, Everyday Miracle by @16magnolias, do yourself a favor and read it! The characterization is spot on, the action is breathtaking, and the writing is spectacular!

If you are a Encanto fic fan but don't often read fics with OCs or even love interests like me, this should be your exception. Lucía is a gem. Here is my take on her, as a thank you for the great read! I can't wait to read more!

1. What is your OC’s favorite color?

I think he likes peacock blue the best!

5. What is your OC’s first memory?

Hmmm... There's there's probably this one memory he has of eating papaya with his parents, maybe even on Tu B'Shvat. I wouldn't necessarily call it his first memory, but it's the one that comes to mind for him.

25. What inspired you to create them / how did you create them? Were they originally a fancharacter? What was their personality / design like when you first made them?

In all honesty, my primary desire was to have someone who could help Bruno along his Jewish journey. It took a long time for me to develop a real backstory and personality for Mo, but he's taken on a life of his own!

Mo's original design was based on Oscar Isaac from Inside Llewyn Davis: the curly hair with the puff in the front, the beard, the soft belly. And then I decided to make him stockier and give him a rounder belly, and it all clicked, haha. His personality is based on a few Jewish friends I know and admire IRL, plus some traits I just think are Good.

26. Who is the most important person in their life? Why? Who is the least important to them (that still has an impact and why?

Mo is lonely 🥲 He would like to make more friends lol.

The Madrigals become good friends of his, though. And I've been playing with the idea of him and Bruno being in a queerplatonic relationship, though their "default" relationship is just friends.

Weirdly enough, he's fairly tight with Padre Flores, the Encanto's priest. They spar over plenty of topics, probably have a Bible study thing going on, and can get pretty fed up with each other, but they're still buddies. I bet they get together for coffee and such. #oddcouple (I'll add a doodle of them later.)

1. Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert/”Flynn Rider” from the Tangled franchise.

I love these two because they are beautiful example of a healthy relationship. They love and support each other selflessly in their goals and dreams and never try to pressure the other into doing what they aren’t ready for. They are always there to support each other and build the other up to become the best versions of themselves.  

Rapunzel helped Eugene find the selfless, loving man underneath the selfish, vain thief, while Eugene gave Rapunzel the courage to live her dream and break herself free from the manipulative Mother Gothel’s control and find the truth about her real parents and her being the lost princess. They’re each others New Dream and I love that about them. :D

Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi did amazing in these roles.

2. Branch and Poppy from the “Trolls” franchise

I love these two because they are adorable examples of opposites-attract. Poppy is the bubbly, endlessly optimistic princess turned queen of the Pop Trolls, while Branch is the grumpy but realistic former hermit with a heart of gold.

Poppy helps Branch to see the bright side of things and helps him to find his true colours, while Branch keeps Poppy grounded and realistic when she takes her plans too far and is always there to help her out when she needs him. 

I hope these two marry some day and Branch becomes Poppy’s king consort. They make a great team - romantically, plantonically and just generally as trolls.

I also love Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. Their singing voices are amazing. :D

3. Callum and Rayla from “The Dragon Prince” 

A great example of the enemies to friends to lovers trope (though they’re currently on the outs romantically). These two have a beautiful bond that grows naturally over the course of 3 seasons. Despite being estranged due to 2 years apart in Season 4, the two are slowly and naturally repairing their broken bond and I hope in time these two will not only repair their friendship but eventually fall in love all over again and get back together as a stronger and much more mature couple.

4. Simon and Jeanette from the “Alvin and the Chipmunks” franchise

The adorkably nerdy pair and *Smart Ones* of their respective musical trios, The Chipmunks and The Chipettes. Despite being similar in their intelligence levels, the two are still different enough from each other that aren’t clones of the other. Jeanette is more shy and compassionate in temprament to Simon’s more snarky, deadpanned wit. He’s always there to catch her when she falls (most of the time literally, lol) and she’s always there to support him and cheer him up when his inventions are ruined (mostly by his irresponsible brother, Alvin).

Though they are still a bit young and shy to start a serious relationship with each other, it’s obvious this adorable pair were made for each other. They do and will make an adorable pair - romantically, platonically and acemedically.

1. Were you named after anybody?

Yes I am--my middle name is from my paternal grandmother, who is an amazingly strong woman who emigrated from Mexico to raise her five young boys on her own. I passed that name to my kiddo, too. My first name is from my great-grandmother on my mom's side. I was just fortunate enough to inherit her antique sewing/writing desk, which now where I often write from!

2. When was the last time you cried?

Ha! Today. One of my small humans was sad, and I was sad with her. I wanted to show her it's okay to be sad.

3. Do you have kids?

I do, two lovely small imps that I adore.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Oh, not at all. [sarcastic]

5. What sports do you play/have played?

I played soccer and volleyball back in the day. I was good at neither, but I definitely had fun!

6. What's the first thing you notice about someone?

If they are a listener or sharer (or somewhere in between). I often forget faces I should remember 😬

7. Eye color?

Light brown, some green.

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Ah, happy endings. I used to like scary movies, but I don't anymore.

I can often predict the plot twist of movies. My husband calls it my superpower. It's fun when I'm right, but I LOVE it when I can't.

Gardening is my main hobby. I love writing and am getting into art too, but I don't have as much time for those hobbies in this season of life. Gardening I can do with my kiddos 💚

Not right now. I am allergic to cats and dogs...but I can dream! Maybe one day. I love doggies.

I'm pretty average. I can turn off the smoke alarm without a stepstool if I jump just right.

Much like @16magnolias, I also had a dream job before my youngest was born. I taught writing at university and helped coordinate their undergrad writing program. I will say though, I don't think that's still my dream job. When I do go back to work, I might work with preschoolers or kindergarteners. That early age range is just magical :)

I share my middle name with my father. My parents like the sound of it and I do too.

About two days ago? It’s been a rough summer.

Only when people know me well enough to tell I’m being sarcastic. I would hate to accidentally hurt someone’s feelings.

I was a part of a fencing club and used to do archery in school. I even used to run before I went through puberty. I don’t do much of any of those things anymore. I miss running.

Eyes I think. Human eyes come in so many amazing colors.

Hazel I think is the technical color. A ring of brown in the middle surrounded by a ring of green.
