Anything Goes December
Bluebeard's Eighth Wife / Claudette Colbert as Nicole de Loiselle
I haven't seen Bluebeard's Eighth Wife--one of Ernst Lubitsch's later efforts--but I happened across this photo of a costume and absolutely loved it. The film is from 1938, but we're really looking ahead to the 1940s in the shape of it. Travis Banton was the costume designer for this movie.

“I once thought if I were queen, I'd be so happy. To be applauded and adored and obeyed. I don't want it now. I just want to be free. To be with you. To love you. I cannot wear a crown upon my heart.”

February: Coeli's Monochrome Picks
Sweethearts / Jeanette MacDonald as Gwen Marlowe
Although this movie was actually shot in Technicolor, this is such a nice monochrome photo that I'm putting it in as a bonus for today! The gown is by Adrian.

im not an anon hate guy so im attaching my name to this. your five star list on your uquiz is kind of ass. are you okay? i know art subjective and all that. are you okay?
I stand by each choice 100% and will gladly defend them till i die. they're all five star films
i did have to limit my choices to things I think your average uquizzer might conceiveably know of which was horribly limiting (this was a failure, when i still looked at comments on that quiz like 1/100 would be 'I have never seen a single one of those films')
The films in question (which i stand by):
