The Fremont Street Experience canopy is under construction. In the foreground is Golden Nugget, left, and Leroy’s Race & Sports book, S. 1st St. – the location for Casino’s “Nicky’s foolproof scheme” scene. Construction of Golden Nugget’s Rush Tower in 2009 covered this block of South 1st.
Me, a 20 year old gal getting a degree in humanities, watching Heat (1995): Okay but I am literally Robert De Niro in this movie he is so me-coded it's like this movie was writteb especially for me
The detritus of rubber, rocks & brake dust accumulate on the N°34 Pilot Aldix Racing Ferrari F40 LM pacing the morning light at the 1995 24 Heures du Mans.
Michael Harriot has written a lengthy and detailed documentation of South Carolina's War on Education. Make a cup of tea before you settle in to digest it. There are four parts: part one above, two, three, and four.
If you scroll down to Harriot's screenshot of the endnotes on the anti-CRT primer, you see his highlighting of Christopher Rufo. But a sharp WutBJU reader saw something else. All BJU students from the 1990s would see it too:
Joshua Matthew Dunn, BJU Class of 1995.
Professor Dunn doesn't like to highlight his BJU connections, but they are all over his scholarship.
His dad, Professor Charles W. Dunn, was well known for "preaching" in his Clemson classroom. WYFF would always highlight Professor Dunn at election time. If you want to read his not-yet-quaint screeds against President Obama, you can go to his old blogger blog.
Who's surprised that Charles Dunn's progeny would be part of the next wave of Klandamentalism?
Were Dilton to sell his invention and the intellectual property rights therein to an oil rich member nation of OPEC, he would now have a sizable chunk of money. It would not put him on par with Hiram Lodge, but it would be noticeable. The thing, though, might be that Dilton is of a personality that he does not care about material possessions, and the money dropped to him from, oh say, Saudi Arabia would immediately be shovelled into funding his next attempts at new technology, as apt to dry up in failure as it is land on success.
I do have to like how the retouched figures retain their poses, turban or white swim trunks. Though it wouldn't be too culturally out of place if one of them had retained a beard. And couldn't they have concocted some new character making his way through the sand dunes of Arizona (yes, Betty, the United States too is "one of those" "sand dune countries") to take the place of the... Camel jockey*... who is making his way to the next race?
* It is a profession. To be sure, they probably don't transport their way to the meets by camel.
