Klart mest solgte pickup i Norge og Europa

Ford Ranger ble den klart mest solgte pickupen i Norge i fjor, med et salg som lå hele 349 biler over den nest mest solgte pickupen på lista. Markedsandelen lå på hele 31% i pickup-segmentet. Også i de 20 største markedene i Europa ble den prisvinnende pickupen for 6. året på rad den mest solgte, med en markedsandel på mer enn 34%.

Ford annonserte den rekordhøye investeringen på en pressekonferanse hvor blant annet den sør-afrikanske presidenten, Cyril Ramaphosa, deltok. Med den nye investeringen er Silverton-fabrikken forventet å gi inntekter som tilsvarer hele 1,1 % av hele Sør-Afrikas bruttonasjonalprodukt. Mer enn 1200 nye personer vil bli ansatt på fabrikken. Ytterligere 10 000 nye jobber hos Fords lokale leverandører vil også komme som en konsekvens av investeringen.

En ny presse for karosserideler skal produsere alle metallkomponentene til Ranger. Her vil også et toppmoderne skannersystem sørge for at alle overflater er av ypperste kvalitet før det sendes videre.

Selvforsynt med energi og karbonnøytral før 2024

Det nye Investeringsprogrammet for Fords fabrikk i Sør-Afrika bygger på Project Blue Oval. Dette er et prosjekt som har som mål å bruke 100% lokal fornybar energi på alle Fords fabrikker i løpet av 2035 og karbonnøytrale før 2050. Første fase av Project Blue Oval er allerede i gang ved Silverton-fabrikken. Det bygges nå parkeringsplasser for hele 4200 biler hvor solcellepaneler fungerer som tak.

– Vårt mål er at fabrikken er helt selvforsynt med energi og er karbonnøytral før 2024. Det blir da en av de første Ford-fabrikkene i hele verden som har nådd dette målet, sier director of Operations, Ford’s International Markets Group, Andrea Cavallero.

Mitsubishi L200 2024 deve chegar aos EUA com chassi de Frontier

A aliança Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi parece estar indo na direção certa em relação à picape média L200 Triton. De acordo com o site Ward´s Auto, o modelo japonês deve se fundir com a irmã Frontier. Mark Chaffin, diretor de operações da Mitsubishi nos EUA, revelou que existe o interesse da marca em ter uma picape desse porte no mercado americano.

Atualmente, a marca japonesa não tem nenhuma picape no mercado dos EUA. A última foi a Mitsubishi Raider, uma versão local da antiga Dodge RAM. O interesse da empresa se justifica, pois, agora o consumidor americano voltou a considerar picapes de porte médio, tendo recebido modelos como Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado e GMC Canyon.

Isso sem contar o interesse velado da Fiat Chrysler em colocar uma RAM de tamanho médio. Em casa nova, a Mitsubishi USA também tem motivos para se animar, pois, a Nissan está preparando uma picape para substituir a Frontier antiga, que ainda continua sendo feita por lá.

De acordo com o site, a Mitsubishi L200 Triton 2024 deverá se fundir com a Frontier e, pelo teor da informação, em nível global. A picape receberia o mesmo chassi da irmã da Nissan. Isso também é reflexo do pouco dinheiro em caixa para tocar uma nova geração da Triton.

Assim, compartilhando a mesma base com Frontier e Alaskan, a L200 Triton terá boa parte dos custos de desenvolvimento e produção diluídos. Nos EUA, a picape da Nissan terá um visual mais parrudo, mas isso não impede que a mesma conserve o chassi de duplo C que sustenta o modelo atual. O mesmo poderia ser feito em uma Triton “americanizada”.

Assim, os modelos globais continuariam fluindo livremente com bases de produção no México, Argentina, Espanha e Tailândia. Para nós, a única questão seria a produção dessa Triton 2024. Atualmente a Mitsubishi é representada pelo grupo HPE no Brasil e a planta de Córdoba, da Renault-Nissan, talvez consiga fazer a Alaskan, agora que perdeu a Classe X.
