Issues that are super important but don’t often get talked about during election cycles but you should, nonetheless, keep in mind when you vote:
Ending gerrymandering
Ending/reforming the electoral college
Term limits for the Supreme Court
Binding code of ethics for the Supreme Court
Reforming the party system
Campaign finance reform
Ending Congressional insider trading
Repealing the Reapportionment Act of 1929
Too often people only vote for short-term issues and short-term solutions so I want to remind you to think long-term

I mean good having a coward in office after 2026 will not do anyone any good. Maybe if they are afraid to lose their job they will actually do it.
A cowardly democratic is better than a republican, but that’s a very low bar. They had power to shut the government down and they did nothing. The party needs people with strong wills

It's not too early to think about the 2026 midterms – Republicans certainly are.
Ron DeSantis cannot run for a third term. So the political focus these days in Florida is on who will succeed him. And the GOP primary could turn out to be a free-for-all involving Ron's wife Casey, Matt Gaetz, and Rep. Byron Donalds who was endorsed by Trump.
The latest poll of the Republican field, conducted by the James Madison Institute, did not place Gaetz as a leading figure but highlighted the evolving Republican field where endorsements and name recognition are key factors that could shape the eventual outcome of the race. The poll, conducted by Targoz Market Research from May 5 to 7, indicated that Florida first lady Casey DeSantis has an early lead with 29 percent, compared to Donalds' 28 percent and Gaetz's 10 percent support.
Trump is a wild card.
When informed about Trump's endorsement, however, Donalds' support grew to 44 percent, while DeSantis' share of the vote fell to 25 percent. Donalds is the only Republican to officially declare his intention of running, although rumors continue to swirl about DeSantis and Gaetz, who has not ruled out a run, NBC News reported on Wednesday.
Gaetz was Trump's original choice for attorney general. And Trump is notorious for not being as loyal to his supporters as they are to him. So Byron Donalds should not treat Trump's backing as ironclad.
Gaetz told The Tampa Bay Times in January he is considering a run. "I have a compelling vision for the state. I understand how to fix the insurance problem, and it's not to hand the keys to the state over to the insurance industry. If I run, I would be the most pro-consumer candidate on the Republican side," he said.
Right: Matt Gaetz – champion of consumers. 😂

It should be pointed out that Trump's popularity in Florida in autumn of 2026 may not be what it is right now.
With NOAA and FEMA in chaos, hurricane-prone Florida may become less appreciative of MAGA-DOGE cuts to disaster preparedness and relief. Those enormous cuts to the federal budget to give bigger tax breaks to billionaires may seem less "beautiful" after two Atlantic hurricane seasons.

I genuinely think 2026 will be a blue tsunami if these tariffs actually happen. Yes, you’re going to have your MAGA voters who will always think Trump is amazing and can do no wrong. But the majority of Trump voters (maybe even about 2/3) only voted for him because of the economy. And yes, that is stupid. But voters have a remarkably short memory. They think Trump would have a better economy. Boy, will they get a wake up call. And they will be PISSED!

The SAVE Act passed in a 220-208 vote.
Every Republican present supported the measure in addition to 4 Democrats.
The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, would amend the National Voter Registration Act so that states would be required to obtain proof of citizenship in person from people who are registering to vote.
It would also require states to establish a program to remove undocumented immigrants from existing voter rolls and would allow American citizens to sue election officials that don't follow proof of citizenship requirements.
Election officials and voting rights advocates have warned that the SAVE Act would disenfranchise eligible voters who don’t have easy access to identification documents.

Good time to find your Senator and tell them to oppose this awful bill!

SHOW UP FOR MIDTERMS.
November 2026. Vote Democrat. We can take the House and Senate back. Talk to your friends, family, and like-minded folks. I feel hopeful. You should, too. We need to take that hope and do something with it.
Work, work, work.

I’ve come to the uncomfortable conclusion that the American left is accelerationist, and we have to deal with that before the midterm elections.
