when you have one of those days where you're going to a major event and everything works out so perfectly it really is cause for continual celebration (in other words the stop making sense screening and q+a with talking heads after was absolutely perfect and i will not be shutting up about it anytime soon)

#we had almost no traffic heading up from SD to LA / found parking near amoeba immediately / got a bunch of amazing records / had FANTASTIC #tacos and a bunch of different great cocktails / immediately got in the merch line at the screening and got everything with plenty of time #to run to the bathroom and get more cocktails / THE SCREENING ITSELF LIKE. i think if i was arsed i could genuinely write a banger essay about the sterilization of media when made to be mass consumed by audiences and how specifically that has impacted neil gaiman's artistic integrity

#with all the gomens season 2 shenanigans going on i'm reminded of my biggest gripe with gaiman adaptations #and it's that even when he's helming it #a lot of the more visceral and less palatable stuff gets watered down and it tends to make the work in question suffer #and all of his adapted works suffer from this in different ways #even in adaptations i enjoy #like stardust #i will say i think sandman gets the worst of this the only sandman episode that felt like a comic #was the 24 hour diner one #anyway #not tagging this as mr gaiman i don't really want to open that can of worms #books #mine
