atsumu loves you. he definitely does.

a year into the relationship— and six months of courting— he can say he's contented with you, and he shows it through his words and actions.

there was a time when atsumu drove past the hotel where his ex— who he once thought of was his greatest love— booked their first anniversary to.

you were on the passenger seat, your hand on his where it rests on your lap, fully unaware what was going through his mind. both his hand twitched. you, who didn't let things go unnoticed, giggled at him, brushing your thumbs on the back of his hand.

in his eyes, of course, you're his greatest love.

atsumu walks through the aisle, cart in tow. his eyes saw a chocolate bar he hasn't seen in a while— the exact chocolate bar that his ex had given him for valentine's one time.

he shook his head, asking to himself why he was still reminded of her.

he didn't think much of it the first and second time, but as time went by and more things reminded him of his past lover, he was almost convinced the universe was giving him signs that maybe he hasn't really moved on— that maybe you two weren't really meant for forever. he was almost convinced.

and because he wasn't fully convinced, he didn't do anything about it, but you were beginning to notice something was off.

"baby, did you get my chocolates?"

"yeah, it should still be inside one of the paper bags."

you jumped off of your seat, eyes tired from looking at your laptop screen due to your work from home job.

you croached down to look for the 3 musketeers chocolate you dearly love, but there was only maltesers and twix bars. you frowned.

"i don't see any muskeeters in here, babe," you whined.

his eyes furrowed, "huh? i bought maltesers. aren't those your fave?"

you shook your head, your lips forming a thin line.

atsumu's eyes widen slightly in realization, you almost didn't catch it.

the silence passed for a minute, both of you staring at each other. you weren't sure if you should confirm it, but in your mind, he didn't need to.

he mistakened her favorite chocolate as your's.

he apologized, but that doesn't mean it didn't get worse. that doesn't mean signs about his ex didn't stop showing up, and that doesn't mean it didn't gradually made him uncomfortable.

y/n: can you take out paella for dinner? cant cook tonight :-(

when atsumu got home that night, he had bought paella for take out good for two. being a considerate boyfriend, he made sure it wasn't seafood since you're apparently allergic to shellfish.

but when you padded your feet to the dinning room and saw the chicken and chorizo paella, your eyebrows knit together. you weren't a pick eater but seafood, especially shrimp, was your absolute favorite. you were looking forward to having seafood for dinner.

but why isn't it seafood paella?

you gulped the hurt that you were feeling rising up your throat from your chest. atsumu was too busy looking for something to drink in the fridge.

"was there no seafood available?"

he glanced over his shoulder to look at you, "what do you mean? you're allergic."

"babe."

"what?"

"i love seafood."

this time his eyes slowly closed, realizing another mistake. another thing he forgot about you.

"what are you not telling me?"

he couldn't tell you. not when he wasn't sure, so he shook his head, apologized and made up an excuse.

from there on, he kept trying to make up to you. but it just didn't feel the same anymore because it either felt like out of obligation or he was trying to cover up the other things he hurt you for. each time he does, he doesn't realize his temper was thinning.

you tried to communicate with him over and over again whenever something felt off.

but your patience, your empathy, your love can only go so far.

what he doesn't notice is he wipes his lips or cheek whenever you kiss him.

what he doesn't notice is he glowered whenever you talked.

what he doesn't notice is he stopped exerting effort.

he doesn't notice he's showing all the signs that he's gradually falling out of love.

he doesn't notice that he's losing you.

but you do.

you, the silly lover girl who didn't let things go unnoticed.

you tried one last time to communicate to him your feelings. irritated, he only said, "i'm tired of this."

so after you waited him to go to sleep, you decided to leave.

you place a hand on his forehead and kiss the back of your hand as goodbye, fearing that even in his sleep he'd find annoyance in it— that it'd wake him up or he'd wipe the kiss away even in his sleep.

that was the last time atsumu has seen you.

and he noticed now that he shouldn't have believed in the signs.

Though in all honesty I’ve got little notes and thoughts on just about any media I’ve ever consumed that resonated with me. Most of those will never see the light of day, since I don’t have time to develop them.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

In a lovely ego boost, my top five are all my fics that’ve broken 1K kudos.

1. Endurance and Peach Tea (Yuri!! On Ice, Otayuri, Teen)

I somehow slammed out 10K of fic over a weekend in the middle of series, and hit the fandom at the exact right time. This is by far my most popular fic.

2. The Myriad Adventures of Mutant Goblin and Graceless Cat (LotR, Gigolas, Teen)

I signed up for the Gigolas Big Bang back in 2014 and 1k into writing promptly realized Fíli was my favorite character. That turned into an interesting balancing act.

3. Needing/Getting (Star Wars Prequels, Obikin, Explicit)

My baby! That fic that I can’t believe I wrote and finished, that got me through the horrible 2020 year. I will never not be so fucking proud of this story.

4. When The Cherries White With Blossoms, Be Ready & Be Brave (The Old Guard, Kaysanova, Explicit)

This fic terrified me for a bit because it was the first time I used emotional recovery rather than action/adventure for a plot. That was a lot harder than I expected, but I’m really happy with the result.

5. Day One (Les Misérables, E/R, Teen)

This was the first fic of mine to get immediate traction--i remembered posting it, going to a wedding, checking my phone at a break, and being so stunned by what I saw I ended up explaining fanfic to my stepdad in a fit of shock.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I do my best because I love getting comments and want to return all the excitement and gratitude someone took the time to express for my work.

That being said i have to stop when it begins to feel like a chore. Then my anxiety kicks up and then they sit for months upon months. It’s....yeah, I’m working on it.

tl;dr--I try to.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I gravitate towards Happy For Now endings as a general rule. Of them all, I think Porthos The Pirate had the most difficult ending to reconcile.

In it, Porthos went from a renegade pirate who treasured his freedom above all else to a nearly-respectable Muskeeter with two lovers and a structure he had to work within. His acceptance of responsibly meant also accepting that his actions as a pirate, while moral, did nothing to resolve the deeper issues causing them. He was trying to patch a gaping wound with a band-aid.

That fic was really about growing up, and that’s always hard.

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I avoid reading/writing crossovers as a general rule, since I have a hard time accessing them--usually I’m much more invested in one fandom over the other. The sole exception being Pacific Rim--I will jump through fire for a good Drift Compatible AU, though I have no compulsion to write one myself.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

A few sour comments over the years but nothing unreasonable.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Ohhhhhh yes. And, tbh, whatever kind I want. I used to be a lot more descriptive of how bodies met, but then I realized a few years back it wasn’t the physicality of sex that really got me, it was the emotional connection and intensity that came from it.

So, now I write sex scenes that talk about how a character is feelings when connecting with their partner. Why they wanted to be there, and what they’re getting from it. I love my sex scenes, and if I make sure they’re doing some heavy lifting on the plot/themes of my story I can put even more in!

It can sometimes come off purple-prosy and pretentious if i’m not careful, but it’s honestly the the kind of sex I really, really like to read.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yep - Play Nice (Hobbit RPF) was translated into Chinese.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have indeed -- my roomie @readwing and I have been in fan spaces for years together, though rarely in the same fandom. Every once in a blue moon our fandoms overlap, which got us:

A German, A Russian, and an American Walk Into A Bar (Man From UNCLE, OT3, Explicit) -- which, holy crap we finished!

AND

The Garrison Reserve (The Musketeers, The Inseparables, Mature) -- which, holy crap, we need to finish!

They're currently working on a couple BatFam projects I’m gonna lose my mind over when they post. 

What’s your all time favourite ship?

The Leverage OT3 of Hardison/Parker/Eliot. I love their depiction in canon so much I rarely need fic to supplement their story or personalities. I don’t think I could write fic for them --I’m a spite writer and I most often write fic when canon annoyed me about something. tbh I’ve yet to come across a Leverage fic that gave me the same emotions watching The Rundown Job did. 

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

@readwing and I are bound and determined to finish The Garrison Reserve....someday.

What are your writing strengths?

I don’t know if its a strength but I adore writing dialogue.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I start taking narrative short cuts that aren’t necessarily in the story’s best interest when I’ve run out of patience for a project. I know if I leave it for a week, maybe two, I can work out whatever it is that’s bugging me. It just sometimes feels like I don’t have a week or two to sit on it, I’ve got to solve it now, now, now. And that’s when I get sloppy. Usually, months or years later, when I reread something, I can tell where I fucked up.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Translation is a paid profession because its extremely difficult and nuanced task that takes lots of skill and insight. Not everyone can do it.

I did it once in one of my Les Mis fics--I knew enough French to be dangerous, and I still got it wrong. Every once in a while I think about going back and pulling that line. Then I remember I have about a thousand other things to do, and editing a nearly ten year old fic does not pay my bills. Eventually, you just gotta learn from your mistakes and get on with life.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

When I was 11 or so I wrote the beginnings of a Digimon fic that I think is out there in cyberspace somewhere. I couldn’t tell you were. In high school I wrote a few short fics for Teen Titans, Beyblades, and really obscure anime called Pilot Candidate.

What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

As I’ve just finished it, I’m pretty darn proud of my Green Knight fic and will likely be for some months yet.

That being said, Needing/Getting is by far the biggest, most expansive work I’ve ever managed as a writer. I will love that story until my end days.

family things about mori nagayoshi

the mori-clan is an off-shoot clan of the genji clan. hi auntie raikou

his wife ikeda sen was an onna-bugeisha (woman warriors trained alongside samurai) who commanded her own all-women unit of 200 muskeeters. when he says in myroom about kagetora that he gets twice the points for defeating strong women it’s prolly cuz He Really Looks Up To Strong Women

his wife was given her own land and received her own fief. there’s also apparently a section of his will that’s commonly mistranslated, in which he gave part of his inheritance to her, expressing his respect to her and establishing that they were in equal standing

he became the head of his clan when he was only 13, after his father passed away in battle. with 15 he was wholly serving under the oda clan and involved in serious battles. that’s why the use of his childhood name (katsuzou) is so prevalent, in case anyone wondered

his notorious first battle when he killed 27 by himself took place when he was only 16.

besides ranmaru (naritoshi) he had 3 more brothers: tadamasa, boumaru and rikimaru. nagayoshi was the eldest. tadamasa is the only one of his younger siblings who didn’t die during the honnoji incident, fortunately having been sent back by nobunaga for noticing him being too young for military service. 

nagayoshi had a single and very young daughter before he passed away, her name was okou. for feels refer to this comic

in his will, he wished for her to be married to someone noble and reasonable like the townpeople’s doctor so that she would stay away from the dangers of battles. during his valentine he alludes to this part of his will by telling his master the same, that they should better hook up with a doctor than hang out with warriors like him who might suddenly die in battle

2020- 20 FACTS TAG GAME

what a great day for memes! thank you @sharkmartini ! here are some answers

1. Do you make your bed? no. recently i told my girlfriend - and i hold to this - that ‘making the bed is a con invented by the man’. what does it get you? your room looks neat - but who looks at your room? you do. and mostly i sit downstairs and dont look at my bed.

2. Favorite number? i don’t have a favourite number really, but i started putting a line through 7s quite late in life, so it always makes me feel weirdly sophisticated

3. What’s your job? i manage and inspire other people who make good websites

4. If I could would I go back to school? probably not, because any kind of higher education involves motivating yourself... and that sounds terrible. i would do a change of career type thing - like, i almost (not that almost - i wanted money much more) went to post-grade stage management school, and i’d go there, because i’d guess it would be FUN. 

5. Can you parallel park? i haven’t really driven for ten years. when i drove, it was just about possible for me to parallel park, but not regularly and i didn’t enjoy it.

6. A job people would be surprised I had? idk - i think you would be surprised about the websites. before this i worked in publishing - which was legit terrible. don’t fall for it. don’t work there. 

7. Do you think Aliens are real? sharkmartini’s answer to this is very good: I think it crazier to believe that there’s literally no other life anywhere.  i wouldn’t go so far as this, although i think it’s a good arguement. i would say ... i don’t think about it that often. 

8. Can you drive a standard car? weird question to ask after the parallel parking question.

9. What’s your guilty pleasure? i accept that all the things i do are actually totally awesome, like reading loads of fanfic and watching tv made for children, therefore they are not guilty pleasures. i guess - buying things from ebay from one of the brands i already have too much of: cath kidston, joules, tatty devine. these are things that i know i dont need, so i do feel a bit guilty.

11. Favorite color? green or mustard yellow

12. Things people do that drive you crazy? sharkmartini wrote about people walking on a sidewalk - so now all i can think is ‘SLOW WALKERS. I HATE SLOW WALKERS SO MUCH. GET OUT OF THE WAY TOURISTS’. i can’t think of anything else that annoys me, i’m so annoyed about the slow walkers.

13. Any Phobias? SLOW WALKERS. no.

idk. i’m not afraid, but i feel queasy when people get cut open. 

14. Favorite childhood sport? obviously i didn’t like sports - who do you think i am

Do you talk to yourself? yes. which is a mad thing to do. but definitely. i think very verbally (i.e. my whole consciousness is very much... just as slow as i can talk, and based a lot on language), so sometimes i just say stuff to myself that other people might just think. also, when i’m writing, sometimes i say the dialogue to myself ....

What movie do you adore? lots! i love star wars original trilogy, lord of the rings original trilogy, indiana jones original trilogy..... back to the future (thank fuck there are no more movies in this amazing trilogy), moulin rouge, golden age disney (aladdin is my favourite), movies about inspirational teachers ideally with singing (sister act and school of rock), camelot, 90s/early 2000s rom coms - particularly richard curtis classics (4 weddings is my favourite), i love xmas movies like muppet christmas carol (treasure island is also great) and its a wonderful life. basically - things should be funny, romantic, action packed/sweeping fantasy. idk - plenty more movies.

18. Favorite type of music? music from the kind of movie i like

20. The first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up? hairdresser and/or musketeer. 

hm, i should probably go back and add ‘the three musketeers’ (1973) to the list - it is amazing, but ... i will just tell you here that i love it, and you will know. i also really really like the awful recent one where orlando bloom is an evil duke of buckingham. it’s so over the top and i love it. and i LOVE the man in the iron mask even though i know it must be crap BUT I LOVE IT TOO MUCH, i can’t tell if it is crap or not, help. it just does everything i want a movie to do. 

even this gif makes me feel emotional. 

(and the guy with the curly hair - apparently called Lieutenant Andre - is like ‘magnificent valour!’ and he gets so angry when d’artangon dies and says the best line ‘All I ever wanted to be - was him’.) (honestly, how much i love this movie tells you a LOT about me, i haven’t even watched it for years. i didn’t even list it in the favourite movies answer. but it presses all the right buttons.)

the tim curry muskeeters is just awful and unwatchable. dont watch that one.

I decided for funsies and as part of a challenge to watch every movie I own. I will state I will probably watch most of these movies while I am at work. I may have to stream a couple cause they are blu-ray and cant watch at work. I am also behind cause I was supposed to start this on the first but didnt so I will need to get caught up. 

Movie 1: Across the Universe I forgot how trippy this movie was. My least favorite parts were the acid trip parts. And the draft scenes were always disturbing. 

Movie 2: Aladdin  Robin Williams was the best part of this movie. I just loved him as the Genie. 

Movie 3: The Return of Jafar I think this was the worst of the three movies. I missed Robin Williams as the Genie. Whoever did his voice was just bad. 

Movie 4: Aladdin and the King of Thieves Our beloved Genie was back. It was such a fun cute movie. 

Movie 5: The American President Such an amazing film by Sorkin. It was the lead up to The West Wing  

Movie 6: Angels & Demons I love Dan Brown books. I need to read his other books. 

Movie 7: Anna Karenina It took me watching this movie like 6 times to understand what was going on.

been working on a story where the surviving dinosaurs try to survive the events after the meteor hitted the earth like the 3+ years winter and no sunlight info: before the extinction: Musketeer pretty much raised herself, raptors or "quick feathers" are known for being good-for-nothing, thieves, traitors, liars and etc, so it's pretty hard to see a quick feather in one of the 2 clans. These 2 clans are made of both carnivores and herbivores and separated by a giant creek, they don't have a name but will refer to each other as "the group beyond the creek" since no one dares to trepass except for...quick feathers. Quick feathers are "hired" by herbivore herds to harass or kill carnivores that are threatning the herd safety in exchange the herd would give them quick feathers one of their deformed offspring to eat. Musketeer leads a pack of 34 members of all kind of quick feathers, the heavy steps (aka big carnivores) aren't able to tell the difference between them but the quick feathers can, she's a very good leader and appreciates loyalty and is super supportive of her newest members, despite her manipulative nature she would never betray one of her kind, Musketeer is always trying to find new jobs for her pack so they can survive, she has amazing hiding skills due to the fact that the pack isn't strong enough to carry the "reward" to their camp, which forces them to make a new camp around the food...which also forces them to stay low so they are not detected by the clan dinosaurs. As for her manipulative nature, she oftens manipulates biggers carnivores to hand their food to her pack and she's good at it or to make new "friendships", etc etc. Muskeeteer doesn't leads alone, her "deputy" is a utahraptor named Bandit that agreed to help Musketeer with plans and strategies when her mind fails, plus Bandit tracking skills are incomparable to any other quick feather.

Tough Musketeer is a master of manipulation she finds it a bit hard to sometimes not befriend some of her victims and relies on Bandit to give her a “wake-up” call because “all heavy steps” are evil in the quick feathers eyes.

Altough not all clan dinos are friendly towards quick feathers a few are friends with Musketeer, some that she considers them her friends too and not her victims but sometimes will ask them for favors. after the extinction: ??????
