divorce/lawsuit arc could've been resolved so fast if 9-1-1 had an episode where they all got sucked into a musical and in order to get out they had to learn specific lessons about accountability, trust, and love and after they all finally get out (after being on the brink of death once again) they all apologize and make up

*Cups your face gently* if you are writing fic, meta, or summaries of an actual play show and you refer to a named, known character by their race or class instead of their name, it will almost always make your writing worse. Whoever told you this was good and made things less repetitive was a bad writer who gave bad advice. Look at your fic. If you've referred to, say, Chetney as "the blood hunter" from the POV of someone who knows his name, take it out and replace it with his name. Your fic is better now.

Sooooo I just finished Midst 3.17 and Holy Shit???
[Spoilers]
Every episode there's at least one moment when I'm like "Oh holy shit, Yeah this is Mat's episode, that last paragraph made me forget where I was for a minute." or "OK, Sara, that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, you win this one." or "What the fuck, how does Xen DO that with their VOICE. What is this sound design. What's happening???" This episode, all three of them just glowed with talent and chemistry. I found myself shaking my head in disbelief at each of them during this episode, over and over again.
Sara, delivering Saskia's final moments with the perfect balance of despair, anger, and compassion. Whispered memories giving rise to a valiant effort in expressing Saskia's anger, her certainty, her hopefulness. And when that wrenching scene is done, Sara turns around and narrates Goldfinch's internal landscape with the same glossy unruffled mathematics we've come to expect. She so gracefully illustrates the archetypes these women inhabit, and you can hear how much she loves the effort.
Mat, glancing down from Weepe's funeral procession at a passing disembodied rabbithead tumbleweed, sliding a shot of bathos down the bar to fortify us for the nerve wracking journey ahead. His brief but weighty appearance as Mother Trauma delivers exposition we wanted from an angle we didn't quite anticipate. Trauma's professionalism and resentment are sharp enough to make the listener suck in a breath, and after he leaves, Mat's fly on the wall cinematic scene setting is lovely, painterly, equal parts intimate and respectfully distant.
Xen, delivering a truly operatic inflection point for Weepe's arc, soaring through the stages of grief like a Pathos seeking missile. Their delivery is downright musical. Weepe's long neglected humanity gasps for air at every pause in the dialogue. Rage is thundered, but it doesn't feel overdone or secretly pleased with itself. Long awaited exposition is tearful, not sneering. The scene becomes smaller and smaller as the truth is laid open, and as the focus narrows, Xen's performance shrinks to fit. At last the scene ends, the stakes change, and the silence left behind has Something New inside it.
Just a masterful, devastating, Hold Your Breath and Hang On Every Word piece of storytelling. Truly exemplary radio. I'm floored.
