By now you have read about yesterday's “Tesla Protests”. For a good recap of how global and powerful it was, consider reading this Guardian article. People are angry at Musk. Perhaps because he reminds us of Hermann Goering - Hitler’s choice to control the German economy.

And if you don’t think Elon Musk is insane, please read this. If you are receiving Social Security (that you and your employer PAID into for decades!!!) keep an eye on those automatic deposit dates at your bank. There is another word for Musk that starts with an i - incompetent. Musk is no technical genius as popular myth would suggest. He inherited wealth from a racist father and parlayed it into other companies. (Sound familiar?!) He didn't invent Tesla. He bought it. And he benefited from Federal government subsidies that he now decries for others. He built Tesla bigger with OUR help. Read about it here. And to make the hypocrisy even more upsetting - Tesla paid almost zero in taxes over the last three years. 0, Nada, Nothing.

The fact that the demonstrations occurred at almost every Tesla dealership and headquarters suggest that the rebellion has very widespread support. People are pissed off.

The “Deep State” government that Republicans complain about has been holding our society together despite being UNDER STAFFED for decades. The number of Federal employees peaked in 1990 at 3.19 million. The population of the United States in 1990 was about 248 million people. The number of Federal employees by 2023 was 2.93 million The population of the United States in 2023 was about 340 million people.

33 years later…roughly the same number of employees were serving 37% MORE of us. That’s not Deep State bloat. That is employee abuse. But I digress. Next? April 5th! Google it and notice how prominent it is in the search. I think this will be a launch. Of course, nothing we say or do this Saturday will change the minds of the Fascists. The DOGE stooges will still be determined to carry out every detail of Project 2025. They will continue to slaughter our government and ruin the careers of thousands of hard working non-partisan government workers. People who could have made much more money with their educations and skill sets in the private sector. But they have something $Trump and Musks storm troopers can’t fathom. Patriotic dedication to their nation. April 5th is about showing solidarity. This about showing a big push back against an unelected mega billionaire acting like a co-dictator ruining the lives of millions.

April 5th will be big. In hundreds of locations. You can find a demonstration near you via “Hands Off”. I’ll be at a town near me. Multiple organizations like Indivisible are joining in support. And this protest will be global. It looks as if $Trump and Musk are uniting millions - putting the focus on free speech and good governance.

However, somehow, my wife has been receiving White House “notices” which she shares with me. Yesterday’s missive from the Fascists was chilling. Here is the link. The statement established a new “D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force” that can involve every law enforcement entity under the sun - from Homeland Security to the FBI. All to make Washington “safe and beautiful”. Do you think it is a coincidence that this new “Task Force” was established just one week before millions of people may visit our nation’s capital to express their displeasure? $Trump loves big crowds - but only if they are cheering him and laughing at his bullying and his cruel jokes. Don’t be shocked if some “storm troopers” are in evidence. Here is an excerpt from the White House message yesterday: ….facilitate the deployment of a more robust local law enforcement presence as appropriate in areas in or about the District of Columbia, including in such areas as the National Mall and Memorial Parks, museums, monuments, Lafayette Park, Union Station, Rock Creek Park, Anacostia Park, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the Suitland Parkway, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, and ensuring that all applicable quality of life, nuisance, and public-safety laws are strictly enforced, such as those prohibiting assault, battery, larceny, graffiti and other vandalism, unpermitted disturbances and demonstrations, noise, trespassing… So, let’s be careful and peaceful - but strong.

To the anon, you resorted to foul language just to question my choice and ask if I have seen any actor as multi talented as Jensen. Let me tell you this I am not going to post your ask as I don't want you to give you the satisfaction of sending a hate ask. I don't know why you think doing so was great in the first place.

As far as multi talented actors are concerned, well Darling, I come from India. No slight for any countries actor or actresses, I am sure each country got their gems. since Anon asked me if I know any, I would like to say I know plenty.

In Indian film industry, acting ain't enough you need to know how to dance and singing is added bonus. Each actor knows at least 4 languages, including English. Then there are those who got added talent such as painting, cooking, musicians, badminton player. So they are not only good-looking but they are awesome actors, dancers, singers and multi linguistics. Sorry to say Jensen is nowhere near to them. Jensen doesn't have people traveling from all over the world to wish him a happy birthday at home. He is not quick-witted or charming, nor can he dance and could barely sing.

Here are some of the Indian actors for you. I am sharing two of my absolute favorites

Shah Rukh Khan - aka King Khan

This guy's duality is dangerous - There is not a single character that he hasn't played. One of the few, if not only actors whose film trailers are played on Bhuj Khalifa. Most importantly, despite being world famous, he is extremely humble. No matter how busy/ tired he is, he will make sure that he takes time out for his fans. There are fans who stand outside film studios and his house hoping to have one glimpse at him, but he, if present at home or Studio, will make sure to greet his fans without fail.

Hrithik Roshan - aka Greek God of Dance

Great actor, can dance (under statement), sing, cook, and do stunts. Another humble actor who doesn't think twice before sharing his craft. His debut film created a mania across the country. He was the only qctor who bagged all the top awards in his debut film and immediately got catapulted to A-list. He loves his fans and encourages them to follow their dream. He has funded my young talents to pursue their interest. During Covid, he donated millions of dollars to help Daily- Wage artists. He distributed masks and emergency kits to front runners. And raised 3.19 million of Covid 19 relief fund.

There are many more actors tumblr doesn't have enough space for it. I just shared two of my absolute favorites. As you can see, I gravitate towards those who are extremely humble, respectful, and giving despite being famous. I hope Anon, you understood why I don't think Jensen is a super talented actor.

I was on the train with Steve, trying to help him stop Ultron. While the two of us are attacking Ultron, I feel a gust of wind blow past us. I looked up to see Pietro standing there after punching the bot. I look back at Ultron to see that he was getting blocked by Wanda. "Please, don't do this." He said. "What choice do we have?" I hear Wanda say. Ultron turns around and tries to blast Pietro, but he moves out of the way. Ultron leaves and Steve quickly runs to the front to check the conductor. I looked back at the twins. "Thank you." I say. Before either of them could respond, I feel the train hit something. The passengers around us started to freak out. Steve runs back towards us. "Civilians in our path." He tells Pietro. "Y/n? Can you stop this thing?" He asked me. "Not alone." I say. "I'll help." Wanda speaks up. I nodded my head before letting my orange powers go underneath the train and trying to stop the wheels. I see Wanda doing the same, her red powers coming out from her hands to help me stop the train. After a few moments, we were able to get the train to stop. I helped get the passengers that were still on the train off. Once they were all off, I leaned up against the wall, right next to Pietro and Wanda, exhausted from the amount of energy it took to stop the train. I could tell that Pietro was tired as well. "I'm fine. I just need to take a minute." He said. "I'm very tempted not to give you one." I hear Steve say as he walked over to us. "Steve, if you won't give him one, at least give me one." I grumbled. I let out a huff. "The cradle. Did you get it?" Wanda asked him. "Stark will take care of it." Steve said. I just shook my head, knowing Tony better than that. I knew that he was going to do something with it, and I wasn't sure if I was on board with it. "No, he won't." She says. "You don't know what you are talking about. Stark's not crazy." I snorted slightly at that. "Steve, with everything you and I know about Tony, do you really think that it is such a crazy idea that he would do something with the cradle." I say. "I mean come on, the reason we are in this situation to begin with is because Tony thought it would be this brilliant idea to create Ultron to help us." I say. "He will do anything to make things right." Wanda added. I pointed at her, letting Steve know that I agreed with what she had said. "Just listen to us Steve." I say. He paused before turning away from us. "Stark, come in." He said into the comms. I heard nothing but silence in return. "Damn it." I mumbled. "Stark. Anyone on comms?" Again, silence. "What are they doing." I mumbled. "Ultron can't tell the difference between saving the world and destroying it. Where do you think he gets that from?" Wanda asks. I looked at Steve. "She has a point. We need to get back." I tell him. "There's a quinjet not too far from here. We'll take it back to the tower and see what's going on." Steve tells us.

We quickly got to the quinjet, and within two hours, we made it back to New York. I turned to the twins. "Just stay by me. I won't let anything happen to either of you." I tell them. I see them nod their heads. When we walked into the room, I saw Tony and Bruce standing next to the cradle. I shook my head. "I'm going to say this once." Steve says. "How about none-ce?" Tony replies back. I rolled my eyes at his response. "Shut it down!" Steve demands. "Nope, not going to happen." Tony says. "You don't know what you are doing." Steve added. "And you do? She's not in your head?" Bruce asks while pointing at Wanda. "That's a low blow Bruce, and you know it." I say angrily. He just shrugs. "I know you're angry." Wanda says. "Oh, we are way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade." Bruce says. I watch as they all started fighting. I turned and looked to Pietro. I pointed at the wires to let him know to unplug them. He nods his head before using his super speed to unplug all the wires. "No, no. Go on." He starts. "You were saying?" He asked. Before anyone could do anything, I heard a gunshot and then the glass under Pietro shattered. "Pietro!" Wanda shouted. "What? You didn't see that coming?" Clint asked. "Dad!" I say frustratedly. I used my powers to knock the gun out of Clint's hands. He looked up at me in shock. I shook my head. "I'm rerouting the upload." Tony says as he starts to type on the computer. Steve throws his shield at the computers before Tony uses his Iron Man glove to blast Steve back. More of Tony's Iron Man suit starts to form on him. Wanda starts to use her powers, but I see Bruce grab her and place her in a chokehold. I let energy form in my hands into balls before hitting Bruce with them. He lets go of Wanda before she blasts him back. "Thank you miláčik." She tells me. I just nodded my head. All of the sudden Thor appears in the room and stands on top of the cradle. He lifts his hammer up and I watch as lightning goes into the hammer. I stood next to Pietro and Wanda, watching this happen. "Wait!"

ENT Rewatch Starlog, 21 April, 2024: Episode 3.19 “Damage”

The NX-01 continues to reel from the Xindi attack, when suddenly the ships break off. It is too late to save the warp drive however, as their primary warp coil has been damaged beyond the capacity Tucker can repair; they are trapped in this part of space.

The Reptilians rail at the other XIndi who stopped the attack, but the council has been at least partially swayed by Archer’s arguments. They insist on Archer being transferred to the council instead of the Reptilians holding him, and later reach out to the Sphere Builders to question if they had assisted the Reptilians in working behind the XIndi council’s back to go back to the 21st Century and try to drop a bio-weapon. The Sphere Builder admits it, but says it was to help hold the Xindi council together in this critical time, and to remember who the real enemy is. Degra is not convinced. 

Enterprise picks up an escape pod from a Xindi ship and is surprised to find Archer on board. As Hoshi translates the pod’s data, she finds evidence that the Xindi scientist Degra has arranged for Archer’s return, and he has provided a rendezvous point in space set for a few days later. With the warp drive inoperable, it’s impossible. 

T’Pol begins to become more erratic and have strange dreams; she risks her life to get into a damaged cargo bay and secure some Trellium D. We later her see her process the mineral and inject it into her neck.

Enterprise is approached by an alien vessel damaged in the Expanse. Archer offers to trade Trellium and other supplies for a warp coil. The alien captain refuses as it will strand their ship three years from home. After much deliberation and an almost violent argument with the unstable T’Pol, they go ahead with a plan to board and take the coil by force. They leave supplies and protections with the aliens; when confronted by the alien captain, Archer tells him, “I have no choice.”

T’Pol confesses to Phlox that she has become addicted to the presence of Trellium D, and he offers to help her through withdrawal, as the ship warps away with its stolen engine to reach Degra’s coordinates.  

Enterprise takes on some DS9 level ethical questions here, and for the most part it’s a pretty interesting study. There does not seem to be any other way to face the problems ahead, and Archer having to question his moral code, and even break it is itself heartbreaking. The idea of an unavoidable war would have been pretty solidly in the minds of the writers when this episode aired, and one can certainly debate if there is such a thing, or how we should or should not respond when we as individuals, or as a society, face that choice. 

Something that diminishes the overall argument though, and certainly T’Pol voicing her opposition, is my single most disliked story element in all of Enterprise: T’Pol’s addiction to Trellium D. The show certainly has its foibles, but Rick Berman and Brannon Braga making T’Pol an addict to subvert her strength infuriates me.  It’s a consistent theme in their era, subverting or diminishing women, and luckily individual writers and performers were able to keep these characters inspirational anyway. What really makes this all the worse for me in this rewatch, is there really isn’t a lot of lead up to this. Yeah, we know Trellium affects Vulcans from earlier in the season, but we don’t really get a slow burn of T’Pol suffering this addiction (unless we want to say her feelings for Trip ARE the anomaly, and I REFUSE that outright: T&T=OPT) that might warrant such a turn; it’s really just this episode when the ship is damaged and she can’t get her fix.  

What KILLS me here, is if you wanted to have something affect her for the drama, you could just as easily have said the damage to the ship, so many hull breaches, had increased her exposure to Trellium used to protect the ship, and had begun to change her mental state. Nope, we instead get a scene where she risks her life to get her drug and we even get the 22nd Century equivalent of holding a lighter under a spoon. Disgraceful, Berman and Braga, and bless you Jolene Blalock for managing to keep an engaging performance. 

There’s a neat moment in this episode though where Hoshi and Travis have a conversation about whether they will get home. Considering how criminally underused they both are this season, that was nice to see. And speaking of DS9, always good to see Casey Biggs who doesn’t get the grist that other show gave him as Damar, but glad he gets some more Trek under his belt. 

I would be fascinated to know though why in the age of computer models that ENT was already delving into, why the alien ship is obviously the repurposed main hull of a Romulan Warbird?

Computing Concerns

There were clouds everywhere this morning, though the sun did peek through a few times during the day. The overnight low was down to 40 degrees, but the temperature managed to climb to 73 in the afternoon.

On this day in 1974, the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary opened formal and public impeachment hearings against President Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal. And in 1980, the COVID-19 recession caused the U.S. unemployment rate to hit 14.9 percent, the worst since the Great Depression.

In less-depressing historical information, Billy Joel was born on this day in 1949, and American actress Rosario Dawson was born in 1979.

This morning’s blood sugar was back down to 165. Not too bad, considering the dinner we had last night.

After having our coffee and playing the Friday edition of the brain games, we had oatmeal for breakfast.

When I went to set up an image to post on Photo Friday, my copy of Photoshop Beta failed to create a new canvas. The full copy of Photoshop had the same problem. I figured it could be the fact that the OS on my Mac has not fully supported the software for a while, but until now it has worked without any major problems. Fortunately, I have other graphic-related apps and also my laptop, which has a current OS. On the desktop, I used Pixelmator Pro to create the image for the post on Photo Friday as well as my personal version, Bud’s Photo Friday, on Tumblr.

Then we went shopping for pet food at PetSmart and more groceries at the Market of Choice in the Delta Oaks shopping center. We like this location because it’s bigger than the one on Coburg Road. We’re still not familiar enough with it to easily find everything we’re looking for, but that will eventually happen.

When we got back home, we had leftover tomato soup, meat and cheese sandwiches, and chips for lunch.

Just before 2 p.m., I went out for a walk. I got in 3.19 miles in 68 minutes, with a total of 7,200 steps. It was a bit warm, and I was overdressed, so I stopped for a couple of times to sit in the shade and rest. It did not help that I started the walk with a visit to Old Crow for a hot mocha. This time the walking app worked. Of course, I monitored it throughout to make sure it wasn’t stopping.

After changing into fewer clothes to cool off when I got home, I uploaded more photos to my Flickr from our visit to the Owen Rose Garden earlier in the week as well as my excursion to Linn County and the McDowell Creek Park yesterday. I also played with Pixelmator again to build a meme to post on my BlueSky account. I had to look up how to do a couple of things, since it is so different from Photoshop.

After updating all the OS and Adobe apps on the laptop, I checked the desktop, and both the beta and current version of Photoshop needed updating. Once the updates were complete, I opened the beta version to check on it. The problem with the black canvas had disappeared. This does not mean I will not be looking for a new desktop, however. And it will most likely happen soon.

When dinner time finally came around, Nancy put together a small salad and we heated up the leftover chicken Alfredo from last night. Another dessert of dark chocolate peanut butter cups followed.

Friday night’s entertainment began with the Colbert’s Thursday show. Steve and Evie did “First Drafts” for Mother’s Day cards. The guest was Bill Gates, who is going to be giving away $200 billion over the next twenty years. Then Paula Poundstone did a short comedic routine.

Next we watched the final episode of this season of “Elsbeth.” She solved a murder while in jail, and her colleagues finally managed to get her released. After that we checked out another “Father Brown” episode from the fifth series. Sid was released from jail after serving a year for an assault he did not commit. Then he was almost immediately charged with a murder, but Father Brown managed to solve that mystery. Then we wrapped our evening with the fifth episode of “The Four Seasons.” For their fall getaway, the friends reunite at Jack, Kate and Danny’s alma mater.

Saturday promises to be another cloudy day, with temperatures ranging from a low of 45 degrees to a high of just 67. We have no plans for any fun, but Nancy’s sister Joan is going to talk with her son tonight about her plans to visit him in Colorado, and tomorrow Nancy is going to suggest to Joan that we could drive her there. The trip is at least 1,400 miles, and one route suggested by our mapping app would take us through Nevada and Utah. We shall see where that conversation winds up taking us.
