Claude Saint-Cyr (Millinery) 1951 Fashion Photography Capeline Hat.
Claude Saint-Cyr (1910–2002) was a milliner French. Claude Saint-Cyr is the pseudonym of Simone Naudet. He did his apprenticeship in the most important workshops of the 20s and 30s. He comes out of it, knowing all the secrets of high millinery. In '37, he opened a maison in Paris and his creations had, for their elegance and their rigor, an immediate success. In 1949, his Oblique line, a game of asymmetrical draperies invented by chance, caused a sensation. He became the official milliner of Elizabeth of England, collaborating with Norman Hartnell, the Queen's tailor. It is she who solves the problem of the head of the crown too wide on the day of the coronation. When, in the 60s, fashion repudiated hats, he retired to his own small boutique. He closed in 1972, but, for a time, continued to work as a consultant for high fashion. (x)
