y/n feels the familiar burn behind his eyes, the tears start to roll down his cheeks, making goosebumps rise on the back of his neck at the feeling. despite his blurry vision, he can very clearly see the words on the screen of his phone.

jae-bear 🥰: 'i think we should break up.'

the young male rereads the message over and over, the shock traveling throughout his body, like waves crashing along the shore of a beach. he places his phone face-down on his bed and he stares at his socked feet, not really focusing on one particular thing.

y/n thinks back on his relationship with jaeyun. the two were both just 13, they had no idea what it took to be in a functioning relationship. the two would meet up every morning before classes began, then they would walk to their classes, holding hands. they would exchange short pecks on the cheek whenever they would part ways, and they would enjoy their lunch break together.

it was always y/n and jaeyun. never one without the other.

y/n sighs as he steps into the unfamiliar building, his hand coming up to lightly scratch his chin. his eyes dart around in all directions, hoping to see a map on the wall. seeing none, he decides to just walk in a random direction in hopes of finding either a map of the school, or the main office.

as y/n walks, his eyes glued to his phone, he bumps into a wall. well, he thinks it's a wall, but then he remembers that walls don't make human-like exclamations of shock.

y/n's phone flies out of his hand as his body stumbles backward from the impact. y/n's face heats up from the embarrassment of being so distracted that he actually smashed into another person.

as his mouth opens to spout out a million apologies, his eyes land on the person he ran into. he's met with a very familiar face.

moon jaeyun. his ex-boyfriend from the 7th grade (...could he really be considered a boyfriend?).

y/n stares for a while. jaeyun still harbors the same features, but more mature, more adult. y/n thinks jaeyun looks so much like his dad.

"oh my god, y/n? is that you?" jaeyun says enthusiastically. y/n snaps out of his trance and he smiles gently. the two may have broken up forever ago, but there was no bad blood left behind.

"yeah, it's me. how have you been, jae?" y/n asks, still using the nickname he gave jaeyun when they first met. y/n almost apologizes for using it, feeling like it's too soon.

jaeyun doesn't seem bothered by it because he keeps smiling and even picks up y/n's phone and the tote bag he dropped during the collision.

"i've been pretty good! life's not terrible, you know?" jaeyun says, talking to the other male as if no time had passed in between them. "i had no idea you were coming back this year, but i'm really glad you did! we have to catch up!"

y/n realizes that the air feels light, like it used to when he would hang out with jaeyun outside of school, when they were alone at each other's houses, laughing and making jokes.

"yeah, i was doing online classes at first, but i realized that i desperately needed human interaction. so here i am," y/n explains, taking his items from jaeyun. their hands touch and it seems as if the two of them felt the same tingling feeling on their skin.

they look up at each other with wide eyes and warm cheeks. they both break out into cheesy smiles and soft laughter.

"hey, let's get lunch together. you're still obsessed with pastries, right?" jaeyun breaks the stare-down, his hands moving to take out his phone.

"i was not obsessed with pastries back then! i just really liked them!" y/n defends himself, his arms crossing over his chest as he shakes his head.

jaeyun rolls his eyes playfully before speaking. he knows y/n hasn't changed much since middle school, at least personality wise.

"whatever, you always begged to go to our boba spot because you wanted their cherry tarts! you ordered it every single time!" jaeyun says with a laugh, pointing an accusatory finger at his old friend.

y/n's eyebrows raise. had jaeyun really remembered his favorite treat from the boba place they frequented?

"i can't believe you remember that. before you go," y/n starts, taking jaeyun's phone from his hand and opening the male's contact list, his finger scrolling until he spots his name.

"my number hasn't changed. see you at lunch, jae-bear."

Right before his lips touch yours he'd whisper “Can I?” and if you nod or say yes, his lips would be pressed to yours so fast

Definitely a good kisser. Seems like he'd have experience. The way his lips move gently against yours, not too aggressive but with a slight neediness to them, would just drive you insane and have you gripping his shirt

He wouldn't do it for too long, wanting to take things slow and make sure he doesn't overwhelm you. Would just smile and rub his thumbs against your red cheeks once you two pull away

Definitely a little shy. Probably trembling slightly and maybe stuttering a little as he approaches your face and asks for permission to keep going

One he gets that permission, his kiss would start slow, his hands sliding up to hold each side of your face as he melts against your lips

It'd come so naturally. You'd just be joking about something together while hanging out, or shoving each other playfully, giggling. Suddenly he'd pull you towards him and his lips would be on yours, still smiling as he kisses you

You'd just immediately melt into it, so comfortable that you wouldn't even hesitate before reciprocating

He'd wrap his arms comfortably around you and your hands would rest against his chest as his lips press softly to yours over and over

After pulling away, he'd tease the hell out of you, calling you cute from blushing so hard and kissing your red cheeks and nose

You'd just tease him back, saying that he's the one that couldn't hold back from kissing you and he's the one with a face redder than a chilli pepper. Your jokes would just leave both of you giggling again and your lips would find each other again not very long after

It'd be quick but leave your lips tingling, staring up at him with stars in your eyes as he blushes a bit from the dramatic display

You'd sit back down and eat dessert but it's like the whole atmosphere between you would've changed. Suddenly you're both hyper, loud, chatty, and just so comfy and happy together

It'd definitely be while you two are on a romantic walk or something, strolling alone together through the cool evening breeze, his hand eventually creeping into yours and intertwining your fingers

He'd suddenly stop and turn to you, grabbing your other hand and pulling you against his chest. He'd slowly look down at your lips, making sure you noticed and you'd be quick to close your eyes, picking up the hint

When he pulls away, he wouldn't be able to say anything at all, just stare, dazed. His brain would be in overdrive, trying to calm himself down while also screaming on the inside. When he finally snaps out of it, he'd bring your hand up to his lips, staring into your eyes as he kisses your knuckles and confesses

Wouldn't even do it on purpose. You'd just be talking to him and he'd tease you and you'd pout. He'd think you're so cute, he'd just grab your face and start planting kissed all over it, his finally kiss landing on your lips and causing you to squeak in shock

so like every other day, not being able to cheer as loudly for your closest friend, you held back. the event ended after everyone finished with their performances and awards were given out. since you were the honorable mc alongside two others, you stepped aside to a room where you were meant to  interview them.

they piled in, and you tried to avoid eye contact with yungyu as not to raise suspicion, bowing a little lower than usual because of this.

“let’s welcome rookie group, 8turn, back from their comeback stage!” your  told the camera whilst your partner clapped lightly, “say hello!”

“whose turn? 8turn! hello we are 8turn!" they introduced happily.

“how do you guys feel finally being able to perform your first comeback?” your partner asked.

“all of us have definitely worked very hard towards this, and we’re glad to show everything to our turnings!” jaeyun told, earning nods from all the other boys.

“well i would love to know who your guys biggest inspiration was during these times!” you looked as jaeyun passed the mic over to yungyu.

“my biggest inspiration recently has been my closest friend outside of all of this. she– they. yes they have always been so kind and um,” he pauses, “i really enjoy being around them, and they’re always making me feel like my best so i really appreciate them for that.”

while the other mc is clapping, you blush profusely. there was the assumption there that he was talking about you, the chances weren’t zero. it was one of the riskiest things he’s done, especially that slip up.

“ahm– i’m glad you find such inspiration in your friends! you guys have worked very hard. 8turn fighting!” you stuttered out.

the cameras dropped and you quickly bowed before turning away from the boys. the day had run long and you needed some fresh air after their interview. 

you walked off into the hall and grabbed a soft drink from the vending machine before sitting yourself on the stairs. cracking open the tap, you took a sip. there were quiet footsteps in the distance that grew louder, you paid it no mind.

“y/n!” a voice said, who you easily were able to recognize as yungyu's.

“yungyu, what are you doing here shouldn’t you be with you group?” you questioned him as he sat down next to you on the stairs.

“yeah but they let me come find you.” he paused, “you know i was talking about you during the interview right?”

“you were?”

“of course i was! how could i not? you really have been my biggest inspiration ever since i met you.” he admit, letting his hand slightly graze over yours. 

“thank you.. but we can’t be this close while we are in public yungyu, we’ll get hell from the company.” you tried to move your hand away but he was quicker to intertwine your fingers.

“y/n this is so stupid. i really really like you and i hate hiding this. you don’t think they’d maybe be a little bit supportive?”

“wait hold on let’s back track for a second, you like me?” the shock on your face made him laugh.

“oh my gosh you seriously didn’t know i liked you?”

“i thought it was one sided this whole time i feel so stupid!” you pout.

“you’re so cute, i can’t believe you didn’t realize.” he smiled at you, turning your head to face him slightly. the touch made you turn red.

“soo.. what now?” you mumbled

“something something, maybe we kiss.” 

your lips parted slightly as your eyes went wide, making him smile even bigger. he leaned into you and left a small tap on your lips.

“you better hope we don’t get caught you idiot.”

You got changed into some silky pyjamas and made a cup of hot chocolate for yourself

You were mid-way through an episode of a love so beautiful (a comfort show of yours) when a knock at your door interrupted your watch

"Hi, I'm Haemin, your Y/n, right?"

"Yeah, thanks for coming! You want a drink?"

The boy stepped into your apartment, pulling his jacket off of his shoulders, hanging it behind your door

He slumped down onto your couch, leaning his head back against the chair.

You sat next to him, passing him his mug of tea

"So, what happened with you?"

He explained that he hated school dances, that "everything is so cliche, the dates, the drama, it's so unnecessary! To get my friends off my back I told them I had a date, then said that she was ill today."

You laughed at his minor outburst, crossing your legs on your couch before placing your mug down on your sideboard

"I was meant to go with this boy I really liked but he turned me down last minute, he told me that he was sick but Heon said that he saw him at the dance with some other girl,"

"Wow, that's low! How could someone turn you down? You're so pretty!"

You looked at him shocked, "Thank you!"

"Why so shocked, with a face like yours, I'd of thought people tell you that your pretty 24/7, am I right, pretty girl?"

A blush crept it's way onto your cheeks and you turned away from him

You felt Haemin's hand make it way to your waist and pull you onto his lap

You placed your face in the crook of his neck, hiding your face which was now a vibrant red,

The boy played with your hair, telling you how you deserved better, how Kai should be on his knees begging for forgiveness, as he sent you into a lullified slumber.

It was 2 AM and Kyungmin had called you at least 10 times in the last 5 minutes

You had plans to go out with Kyungmin earlier that day but he stood you up, sending you a quick message 'I'm with Minho, sorry it's an emergancy call u l8tr'

You were quick to send Kyungmin a long message and leave him on read for the next 3 hours

Meeting the parents of your boyfriend was always a nerve wracking task but especially when one of them was your proffesor.

The Woman, surprisingly, brought you up to stand with her hand telling you there is no need to bow!

"Hello! It's so nice to properly meet you! Seungheon speaks about you a lot but I never really speak to you in lesson, you're just so well behaved,"

You grin at the woman, what a relief, she ushers you into the sitting room and shouts your boyfriend down stairs.

As his face emerged from the stairwell you saw a smile take over his face.

He pulled you into a hug and exclaimed that you looked so beautiful!

"She is just so lovely Seungheon. And so polite!"

You smile at the boy as he silently thanks you for making his mom smile.

"You two go upstairs I'll call you down later okay? Your father's running late but you can just meet him at dinner!"

As you entered his room he pulled you straight onto his bed, thanking you for being kind to his mom and reassuring you that his father will love you!

Overall the night was a success!

Jaeyun knew he was going to kiss you that night the moment he laid eyes on your outfit. It was just your first date but he'd known that he loved you for weeks now already, but seeing you all dressed up for him brought all those emotions he had when he first fell for you rushing back to him. All he knew is that he wouldn't let this be a fling. Your second date with him would be your first as an official couple, he guaranteed that to himself.

And just as he wanted, when the credits to the movie started rolling, his hand was turning your face towards his and his lips were on yours. His finger stroked your jawline almost unconsciously as he pressed soft but needy kisses to your lips, kisses that told you just how long he'd been waiting to do this. The darkness of the cinema and the loud music of the credits masked the two of you, leaving you in your own little world and giving Jaeyun a boldness he needed to finally get his true feelings across to you. It was a kiss that lived up to the tension created between the two of you from the many longing glances, not really paying attention to the movie, to the subtle but hair raising brushing of each other's hands on the snug cinema armrests. It was a kiss that wasn't mutually planned and yet flowed so smoothly, as if when your eyes met you suddenly knew what to do and what he wanted.

Your hand snaked up his neck to rest just below his ear, thumb grazing his jaw in a way that made his gasp softly against your lips. His kisses only continued to get longer and deeper. His hand travelled to your waist as if wanting to pull you closer, only to be painfully prevented by the armrest that once built tension between the two of you. His fingers could only weakly tug at the hem of your shirt, sending shivers over your skin.

The sudden ending of the credits was what forced you two apart, the lights turning back on and yanking you from your private world. He stared into your eyes, chest heaving and cheeks red, clearly in a daze from how it felt to finally lay his lips on the person he'd loved for so long. 

Even despite his state, he wouldn't let this moment get away from him and the words spilled out in a deep and breathy voice.

“I like you so much…please be mine…”
