Craziest thing about Season 8 is that Dean somehow found the time and means to shave in Purgatory yet purposely left his face bloody

8x07: Dean steps into the rift out of purgatory, and turns around to see Castiel still a few feet behind him. He reaches out to Castiel saying, “Come on!” He grabs Castiel’s hand and says, “I got you! Hold on!” The wind around the rift is blowing them apart, then Castiel yells to him, “Dean!” Dean tells him again, “Hold on!” But Castiel pushes his hand away as he says, “Dean! Go!” Dean stares at him, shocked, and the rift closes on him without Castiel.

8x01: In a cabin, Sam asks the newly returned Dean, “What about Cas? Was he there?” Dean scoffs a little and walks across the room facing away from him, saying, “Yeah, Cas didn’t make it.” Sam asks, “What exactly does that mean?” Dean hesitates before saying, “Something happened to him down there. Things got pretty hairy toward the end, and he... Just let go.” Sam pauses before clarifying, “So Cas is dead? You saw him die?” Dean answers, “I saw enough.” Sam pushes further, “So, then, what? You’re not sure?” Dean finally turns around to say, “I said I saw enough, Sam.” Sam says, “Right. Dean, I’m sorry.” Dean nods before saying, “Me too.”

8x19 (1): In purgatory, Sam turns to offer his knife to Benny, saying, “Alright, come on, Benny. It’s your turn.” Benny looks up at him and tilts his head in a slight nod. Sam looks confused and gestures again with the knife, saying, “Hurry up.” They both turn to look as a group of three vampires walks toward them, calling out saying, “Benny! And still working with the Winchesters.” Sam whips his head toward Benny again, urging him, “Hurry!” Benny smiles a little, telling him, “Time for you to go, Sam.” He walks around Sam and pats him twice on the arm as he goes. Sam asks, “Benny?” As he walks toward the other vampires, Benny tells him, “Go on. It’s me they want.” He turns to look at Sam again finishing, “Go on. You just make sure to tell Dean I said goodbye.”

8x19 (2): Standing in the woods at night, Dean asks Sam, “Did you get ‘em out?” Sam hesitates, looking upset, before he says, “Only Bobby.” Dean asks, “What?” Sam looks regretful and Dean clarifies, “I mean, that’s fantastic about Bobby.” Sam explains, “Dean, look. Benny, uh... He got us out. A bunch of vamps showed, and he used himself as bait.” Dean nods a little, looking down and away from him, processing this. Sam continues, “I get the feeling, even if that didn’t happen he didn’t want to come back, y’know?” Dean looks almost frozen, and Sam says, “I’m sorry.” Dean looks back up at him before saying, “You’re probably right.” They both nod a bit.
