Since I posted some of my old fanart yesterday... if you're not familiar with Slayers, and thus have never heard its amazing music, do check it out. It's largely by the same songwriter, Masami Okui, that did Utena's iconic opening (Rinbu Revolution) and ofc (TRUTH) and sung by a duo of her and Hayashibara Megumi (you know, the GOAT)

The entire OST pretty much slaps. there's only a couple of bad image songs in an absolute expanse of pure gold. GIVE A REASON, the opening to the second season, tends to be the reigning favorite. (I've a hard time pinning down my absolute favorite... of the original openings, it might be Breeze, but all three are so good. Of the entire catalog? Impossible to choose. Midnight Blue, Raging Waves, Within my Unlimited Desires, Gloria, Get Along... Impossible Choice)

I'm curious to know your thoughts on riize? I know some people think they don't feel like an sm group but tbh I think they are being similar to like 90s era kpop groups. Anyway I actually have been enjoying their music and wow watching them dance impossible choreo is so fun.

love them! i really like the musical directions they've gone in and how they do embody the feeling of early boyband much more than most other groups have managed to. unsurprising that they do some challenging choreo, bc how could you not with shotaro right there, and i'm really glad impossible got the full house treatment bc i crave the fancy footwork like choicest of drugs. i'm also a big fan of all the music that they've released so far, and i love how their new ep is so delightfully dated (complimentary). that being said, i DO agree that they don't have the full sm sound, simply because yyj isn't there to help produce them. i've said it before and i will say it again, he was so fundamentally instrumental to the 'sm sound' and even to the sound of kpop itself, that now that he's gone no group is ever going to sound like that again. it's just the truth. i think the current a&r team are doing a great job with riize (we will not speak of any other groups.) but we could have had so, so much more.

when i was a kid the main thing my parents put on the radio (besides country stations/pop) were like 90s alt/grunge stations (mostly lithium on sirius or a couple of FM stations i cant remember the names of) so now thats one of my favorite types of music but also i feel kind of insane when talking about music stuff bc i kind of just assume that like everyone my age was listening to the same stuff so i get so confused like what do you MEAN you dont know the butthole surfers?? they played them like ALL THE TIME!!

i love listening to the playlist from start to end because it's such an experience.

like what do you mean we have to listen to 2/3 of the playlist - almost half an hour of steadily angstier songs - before we get to the song that signifies Ailette's re-entry into the story. how the hell did tesilid last that long, because every time i finally reach 1/6 i'm like "oh thank god, a breather"
